Kairi

Unsure

Kairi had been mostly quiet since the return to the ship. She had seen some things that she thought she'd never see or even think about. The hardest part about it was that it was her fault, or so she kept telling herself.

Right now innocent people were getting slaughtered, and for what? Because of a failed mission or at least in some eyes it was a success. This drove hard into Kairi's heart. She didn't know what to do anymore. She didn't know if this life was for her anymore.

Before leaving sickbay, Kairi was stopped by Dr. Levy. She wanted to talk about what had happened, but Kairi couldn't deal with it. She just tried to bury everything and continue about her business. Maybe that would be the best solution.

After Sickbay, Kairi went straight to Engineering. After all, work always seemed to do her good. Maybe if she concentrated on work things would just go away on their own. It seemed to work for a while. Kairi was working on some plasma injectors, when images began to flood her mind. These images were accompanied by the screams, the screams of pain and death.

Kairi dropped her tools and froze. She wasn't even aware that her fellow engineers had also stopped and began watching her. They weren't aware of the recent events, but Kairi was, Cause they were replaying in her mind. Tears streamed down her face. Then finally she looked around at the others who were looking at her.

Kairi freaked and ran out of Engineering. She didn't stop running, almost knocking a couple of officers down. People stopped and watched her, but it didn't matter. Kairi just kept running. She didn't stop till she finally reached her quarters.

As soon as Kairi stepped in, she immediately ran to the rest room and to the sink. The screams and death pounded in her head so much that it made her sick, literally. It was painful, not only physically but mentally. There seemed like there was no end to the torture.

Finally after almost thirty minutes, Kairi stopped. She jumped into the shower, uniform still on, and slumped down in the corner as the warm water tried it's best to soothe her. After a few moments, Kairi finally realized her uniform was still on. She pulled her combadge off and looked at it, running her fingers along the edges of it. In a burst of rage, however, she threw the badge out of the shower as hard as she could. At the moment she didn't care where it landed.

After an hour or so, Kairi's mind finally calmed down a bit as she focused on the falling water. She got out of the shower, walked into the other room and changed into a fresh set of clothes. After changing, she found her combadge and looked at it once more, this time as though she was looking through it.

Kairi was unsure how much longer she could go on with this, but she was sure of one thing. She needed to talk...
