The Race Part 2

Subject: The Race Part 2

Date: Mon, Jun 9, 1997 9:32 AM

From: LtnKitKat

Rocks swung his arms around like a windmill.  "I'm ready, and anyways I'm sure I can beat a girl."  Rocks took his place on the starting blocks and laughed.

Kit raised an eyebrow.  "We'll see.  Computer, activate starters and crowd."  A few hundred people appeared, shouting and cheering.  Timers appeared next to each lane, fingers ready to push start when the time came.  An announcer appeared with the starting gun.  Kit smirked at Rocks.

The announcer picked up a microphone.  "Swimmers, on the block. Take your mark."

Kit leaned over, putting on foot on the edge of the block and grabbing it with both hands.

Rocks leaned over and looked at Kit.  "See you at the finish."

  "I'll be waiting."

The announcer shot off the starting gun.

Kit propelled herself off the block out an upward angle, then slowly faced down and entered the water smoothly.

Rocks jumped into the pool in a classic dive position.  He entered the pool with a little splash and starting paddling towards the end of the pool.

Kit began to do dolphin kick underwater until she could see the surface arriving.  Then she broke through, breathed, and set off a a nice even pace while simultantiously giving her mind something to think about.

Rocks surfaced behind Kit.  He increased his pace to catch up with her.  He looked over to her as he caught up and slowed his pace.

Kit automatically improved her technique: head raised, strokes lengthened, kick evened out.  She reached the end of the length, dived down, flipped, pushed off the wall and continued on her way.
