"Station Orbit Established", Sam announced as he completed his corkscrew turn to catch the simulated gravity of the Mirona Science Outpost. As he shut down the primary propulsion systems, Sam overheard Captain Moose and Lt.Cmdr Lo'Ami planning for a shuttle mission to carry the fragile cargo to the station. Sam began to Log out of his console but decided not to jump to conclusions. As he listened to the conversation progress, nothing was mentioned about a shuttle pilot. Sam wanted in no way to be arrogant, but he had worked very hard to get where he was. He had a vast amount of experience under his belt, having been a pilot long before he was in Starfleet, and flying as a test pilot had taught him much about safety protocols. As the primary helm officer, he had the main piloting responsibility. Sam was not one to gloat, and was not one to go up to authority and express problems...but he was astonished that in a mission of great safety/piloting concerns that he was not assigned. The only thing Sam could do was to sit in front of his helm controls and wonder if deciding to use his piloting skills to help others was all for naught.
