Medical Lab Log Part 2

Part 2 of the joint log by Debbie Matthews & Brian Smith

"D'Cha Syndrome is Romulan. This virus is based on D'Cha DNA."

"I know. And I understand the Romulan's occupied this planet for some time."

"I think they created the virus," quipped Brian.

      "For what purpose?" inquired Debbie.

"To wipe out the population of that planet."

"You think the Romulans are that cold blooded?"

      "It is a distinct possibility."

Debbie nodded. "I agree. They wanted that planet for some reason. The occupants may have resisted so they created a little virus to eliminate the troublemakers. That poor guy in the cryo chamber could have been their test subject."

A thought suddenly occurred to Debbie. "Run this virus through the computer using a Romulan host. Let's see what happens."

Dr. Smith grinned. "I was just thinking the same thing."

Fifteen minutes later, the two physicians quietly reviewed the results of the computer's latest study.

      "They infected themselves," huffed Brian.

"It appears that's what happened," replied Debbie. "They created the perfect virus and it turned around and bit them."

"Guess it had no respect for its creator."

The CMO chuckled. "That would also explain why the Romulans abandoned the station."

Drs. Matthews and Smith continued studying the data for several minutes. It was Debbie who finally broke the silence. "This information would be great for a research paper. Unfortunately, we're on a starship, not in medical lab. Let's wrap this up and move on."

Brian nodded solemnly. "I'll prepare a report."

"Please do. In the meantime, I'm going to take another look at Kyle's slime. That stuff has some very intriguing properties.

"This whole mission has been full of intrigue."

"Yes, and whole lot of unanswered questions."
