Yet another failure

"You . . . have . . . failed!" he yelled at her. "You are pathetic!"

The man was again obscured in shadows. Robin stood at the edge of the room, her face a knot of anger. "I will not fail again," she said.

"No, you won't. We placed ourselves behind your pitifully weak movement, and you failed once. We will not make the mistake again. Because of your bumbling, Challenger is ready for launch. The humans are moving further out into the galaxy. The time stream was not altered in any significant way. We have expended too many resources."

"Don't! No, we need your knowledge--how else will we infiltrate Starfleet?" Robin implored the man.

"You won't. Your rebellion will be doomed to further failure. According to our history, it will collapse in a few more years, just a sidenote in the textbook of human history."

Robin was silent, and still.

The man's shadowy hologram flickered and disappeared. Robin rushed forward to try and reestablish the transmission, but she recoiled when sparks erupted from the device. It burst into flame--never to be used again.

She fled the room, their initative lost.

Hundreds of years into the future, a man stepped off a communications device and kicked a console. They had lost more ground in the War.

((He also closed the color tag!))
