Outta Time IV

As a result of BcH's and Messner's negotiations with the other Klingon craft we were to accept a contingent of their engineers who would modify our engines and systems to give us the same time-travel capabilities they apparently aquired. With Messner in command and Random unavailable I was still the Acting XO. Normally this would mean Ensign Koralev would be in charge of Engineering, but supervising these Klingons would be a delicate task so I took personal charge of their work.

I suspected they had a hidden agenda so we also arranged for some Security officers including Ensign Dracal, now Acting Security Chief, to keep things in line. Once security was in place we had the other ship's engineers beam directly to Main Engineering rather than to our transporter pad. Although they could easily bring up blueprints of the Vorcha class from their ship there was no point in providing information about us by giving them a tour of the ship.

One of the other Klingons began to attach a device to our warp core housing. I was suspicious, so I shut down the core and scaned the device. My tricorder couldn't tell me very much about the device but it couldn't immediately identify it as dangerous either. Messner had given Daryus orders to take the other Klingons into custody once their work was completed. From the MeH Angie5, now Acting Science Officer, beamed them to the brig. Whether one of the other Klingons had somehow contacted their ship or whether this was a prearranged plan I do not know but at that point we began taking fire from the Bird of Prey. Messner ordered me to engage the device immediately, without adequate testing. I quickly calculated 3 distinct possibilities: 1) The device works and we go to another time, leaving BcH and Picard's ancestor on the other ship 2) The device doesn't work at all. 3) The device destroys the QoB-Lakota. None of these possible outcomes would improve our situation so I had to disobey the order.

We returned fire to the Bird of Prey and succeeded in beaming BcH and Picard's ancestor to the MeH. We also took some additional prisoners from the Bird so Daryus went to the MeH to secure them. I continued my examinations of the device. I need to know more about it before we attempt to use it.
