USS Excalibur Sim Log - 07.28.19

MISSION BRIEF:  As If the GM had watched a certain episode of TNG recently, the USS Enterprise-C under Captain Rachel Garrett has arrived at Sarras and has offered assistance.  Meanwhile, dire straits for Team Mincine as their version of the science officer is in rough shape in medical.

Cptn Swain: ::On the bridge, waiting for Miranda to arrive. He expected she would be rather cross with him for just inviting their new buddies over for tea.::

William Chocox: ::Is working on keeping the ship together::

Rhan K'hal: :: still at his station, compiling shopping lists and then trimming off anything the Enterprise wouldn't have for another 40 years ::

Irene Mincine: :: Blue Irene is still in rough shape down in the isolation room in sick bay. There's a cool fade to Red Irene laying in the same position on a bed in some guest quarters nearby. ::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Working in medical ::'

Cptn Swain: Issaha> So, let's get to work on simulation that transphasic scan. If my hunch is right, maybe oue next lunch won't be these awful starfleet rations.

Maryse Dubois: ::Checking on Blue Irene after her intense treatment.::

Hakran K'hal: :: rings the chime to Red Irene's guest room ::

Hakran K'hal: Issaha's New Pets> :: get to work after rolling their eyes at one another ::

Irene Mincine: :: Blue: The radiation was successfully purged. Now what's left to address is the lingering effect from all that radiation, which presumably would be Very Bad for her. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda strode onto the bridge searching for Swain, rather cross at him for inviting yet another group of Starfleet officers over for tea. He obviously had no respect for the preservation of their timeline.::

Rhan K'hal: :: reaches out and hands Miranda a cup of her usual as she walks by ::

Cptn Swain: ::Glances to Miranda:: Commander.

Maryse Dubois: ::Goes into the room, tapping something on Irene's bio bed, unsure if she is awake or not.::

Irene Mincine: :: Red pops up from the bed and answers the door. She tries to suppress her initial shock at seeing Hakran there, more or less successfully. :: "Oh, um, lieutenant. What brings you?"

Indaura Ryssan: :: Mutters :: two Irenes...

Irene Mincine: :: Blue's awake but quite listless. :: "Yeah?" :: She says weakly, barely opening her eyes. ::

Hakran K'hal: Thought I'd see how you were faring., other than going stir crazy, if you're anything like the Irene I'm used to.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Gives Rhan a nod of thanks, feeling a bit drained. She sighed as she took her usual seat.:: Captain. Who are we expecting this time?

Cptn Swain: Augustin> ::Wonders if Miranda will finally deck Swain. He wouldn't blame her.::

Cptn Swain: No one I am tangentially related to!

Cptn Swain: ::Pauses biting his lip:: As far as I know anyway.

Irene Mincine: Red> "Oh. I'm doing okay... I guess..." :: Red looks down at the floor. :: "I'm happy to be out of that sick bay. And it's nice to see you again... well, one of you..."

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Well, that's something at least. ::She grumbled as she took a sip of her drink.::

Maryse Dubois: Hey Irene. I would ask how you are feeling...but I can pretty much picture it. ::Still playing with the bed.:: The good news is I can fix it. I'm going to be setting up an IV for you to get your some much needed nutrients. Then a bit of a hypo treatment, followed up by some regeneration if need be.

Cptn Swain: Rhan can you bring up our visitors on the view screen?

Hakran K'hal: That's the multiverse for you. Never know when the dead are going to rise in a different colored shirt. :: pauses a beat :: Am I in a different colored shirt, or am I a nerd in any universe?

Rhan K'hal: One second, Captain.

Rhan K'hal: :: manages to fix the over rotation of the exterior visible spectrum sensors, and POP goes the Enterprise ::

Irene Mincine: :: Red grins at that one. :: "No, we were both command. You were at tactical and I was at the helm."

Cptn Swain: ::Motions:: I give you, our new best friends.

Irene Mincine: :: Blue looks nonplussed. :: "I hate IVs... it's better than the alternative, I guess." :: She stares up at the ceiling. :: "I was sure I was going to ride that barge all the way to Gre'thor."

Hakran K'hal: Hmm. Rhan is going to laugh his ass off at the thought of me shooting torpedoes. I'm going to for that matter. Though I suppose you probably feel the same way about being a biologist in this universe.

Cptn Swain: ::Runs his hand through his hair, wearing a different hairstyle this week, despite it happening right after last week.::

Irene Mincine: "I actually don't know anything about the me in this universe. The way they were talking about her, it seemed like she was going to drop dead right then and there." :: She got some of her favorite Aldebaran whiskey from the replicator. :: "Yuck. I had a whole bottle in my quarters back home."

Maryse Dubois: Someday you will. ::Setting up the IV tower into the biobed.:: But today isn't that day. ::Gently takes Irene's arm, then sticks the IV line into her. Once set, she activates it.:: You may get a bit of a chilling sensation at first, but it will pass.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Her nostrils flared and she squinted.:: That's the Enterprise.

Hakran K'hal: She's a fighter, and stubborn as hell. So is the doctor. I'm rather counting on her getting well enough so you can meet yourselves.

William Chocox: ::looks over the latest reports:: I feel like every step forward I take we take two steps back.

Rhan K'hal: And no shooting Romulans. Yet. Gotta remember to not mention that.

Cptn Swain: ::Nods:: I was glad I showered before they showed up.

Cptn Swain: Issaha> ::feels a disturbance in the force::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Enterprise-C? ::Her hand curled into a fist.:: You invited Captain Rachel Garrett over for tea?!

Rhan K'hal: :: holds back a snicker with great force of will ::

Cptn Swain: I mean, I suppose we could do coffee, But you know I prefer tea.

Cptn Swain: Augustin> ::makes a face to try and hide his amusement::

Irene Mincine: :: Blue laughed, figuring that not everyone knows the difference between the two Klingon afterlives. :: "Yeah, you're right about that. Someday I will go straight to Klingon Hell, for screwing up this badly." :: She grimaced when Maryse put the IV in. :: "I hate that part."

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She balked.:: What in the hell were you thinking? ::Her hand covered half her face as she groaned, taking stock.::

Irene Mincine: :: Red nodded. :: "If she's anything like me, she'll be fighting to get out of sick bay even if all her limbs fall off and she turns into a pineapple."

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I'm escorting her personally and no one is to speak with her... about anything.

Cptn Swain: ::Under normal circumstances he may have issued a mildly corrective for openly questioning him in front of the bridge staff, but he supposed that given their history and the situation she deserved some slack.:: It's not as if we exactly had many options.

Hakran K'hal: :: chuffs out a laugh :: Sounds about right. :: leans against the arm of the couch :: So, if you don't mind me asking, how did I die?

Cptn Swain: ::Lifts a brow, maybe a little too much slack:: Commander, I think we should continue this in my ready room.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Yes, that's probably best. ::She rose stiffly, forcing herself to relax.::

Irene Mincine: :: Red nearly choked on her third glass of vile replicated booze. :: "You really want to know that? That's not the kind of thing people ask!"

Maryse Dubois: ::Smiles as she sits next to Irene for a while.:: Now now. I'll not have an honorable person like yourself talking about going to Hell. It's nothing but Sto'Vo'Kor for you. Got it? I'll come yell at the ferry man myself if I have to. ::Checks vitals as the IV does it's work.::

Cptn Swain: ::Motions for her to lead the way::

Hakran K'hal: I'm a scientist in this universe. I like to know things.

Cptn Swain: Augustin> ::glances wide-eyed towards Rhan::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Checks in on Blue Irene ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Nods as Indaura pokes her head in.::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She stalked into his ready room, pacing the floor as she waited for the door to close behind him.::

Cptn Swain: ::He made his way in, girding himself::

Irene Mincine: "Do you know how it feels to have a machine powered by your own blood end up destroying half the ship, stranding you in the past, and nearly killing everyone in Engineering?" :: Blue was very agitated now. The IV was improving her vitals but her emotional state might not be helping. ::

Rhan K'hal: :: looks back at Augustin, smirks :: He must've had a helluva vacation before we started this mission, he's been really chill, all things considered. And she'll need a helluva vacation after this, where-slash-whenever we are.

Cptn Swain: (( I mean who hasn't done that at least once. ))

Indaura Ryssan: I can't say that I know that feeling.

William Chocox: ((I would say me, but I did blow up half the ship.))

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( Didn't Tandy do that, too?))

Cptn Swain: Augustin> Don't we all.

Cptn Swain: ::The doors slid shut behind him::

Rhan K'hal: :: gets the compiled list, such as it is, put together :: Well hell, now what do I do with it? I can't give her a 2370s padd.

Irene Mincine: :: Red sighed. :: "We were attacked on a diplomatic mission... they beamed marines onto the bridge before we got the shields up..." :: She trailed off, turning beet red and starting to uncharacteristically tear up. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You're walking a very thin line, Captain. ::She wasn't yelling, which was a good thing, but she was obviously extremely agitated.::

Cptn Swain: Augustin> You could replicate some paper.

Maryse Dubois: ((Well he did have an entire ship in his head.))

Cptn Swain: ::He tipped his head:: True, but it's my line to walk.

Cptn Swain: (( Tandy once got several us kidnapped by a Scorpiad fighter he bought as an egg at some planet's market, too. ))

Rhan K'hal: She'd need to bring an AT to carry it, it'd be like printing the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition in 10 cm tall letters.

William Chocox: ((I miss Tandy.))

Cptn Swain: Augustin> You could replicate some old iso chips.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I don't think you're giving enough weight to the decisions you're making. This woman... you know who she is and what happens to her. You KNOW how important she is to the timeline!

Rhan K'hal: :: runs a paw through his mane :: That'd probably be the best option, they haven't changed that much.

Cptn Swain: I don't have any intention of telling her about the future.

Hakran K'hal: Well, good to know I died unexpectedly while on a mission of peace.

Cptn Swain: But I didn't exactly have many options, now did I? It's not like I could just make up some yarn about us being some freighter or something and just uh leave us alone and we'll figure it out?

Maryse Dubois: ::Administers a dose of medication into the IV when the time came.:: You know the success rate was not 100% so stop placing blame on yourself. I need you to relax.

Rhan K'hal: :: starts tapping at his console ::

Indaura Ryssan: :: Writing things in her padd ::

Cptn Swain: And besides, we've already altered the timeline. There may be a way to fix that, but certainly not without help.

Cptn Swain: At this rate, without help, I don't think we could even think about just getting back to our own timeline.

Rhan K'hal: :: heads over to the replicator, waits while the ailing computer restarts it ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You might not have any intention of telling her, but someone else might let something slip. She's a legend.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: And what if she asks about her own future? What will you tell her?

Cptn Swain: That she knows I can't tell her that.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: But it probably won't stop her from asking.

Irene Mincine: :: Red blurted out, :: "You saved my life. That was always you. Selfless. And it cost you..."

Rhan K'hal: :: finally the replicator spools up and spits out an oozing pool of what should be an isolinear chip :: CRAP.

Cptn Swain: ::He lifted a brow:: And you don't trust me not tell her?

Hakran K'hal: You'd do the same for me. In either universe.

Rhan K'hal: :: tries again ::

Cptn Swain: ::He headed over to the small bar. It was completely a mess, but he managed to find two glasses and an undamaged bottle of something purple and viscous:: Perellian Cordial. ::He said making his way back to her:: Corizon's apparently.

Irene Mincine: :: Blue certainly wasn't calming down. :: "It was such a ridiculous plan! I could have killed everyone. I.. I should be dead... I..." :: Well, maybe the medication was making her calm down. ::

Rhan K'hal: :: gets the same result, uses a rather inventive stream of insults aimed at the replicator unit ::

Rhan K'hal: I swear if we make it back to our timeline I'm asking for a new bridge module. If not a whole new ship, the way things are going.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She took the drink with a dubious look, quirking a brow.:: I trust you not to tell her, but I don't trust her not to press. Not you, of course, but if she's given access to the crew...

Cptn Swain: Augustin> You could ask her to bring you one.

Irene Mincine: :: Red smiles faintly, through her tears. :: "I'd do it for you in a second."

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Or our databanks!

Cptn Swain: I trust the crew. ::He said taking a sip. It was a little sweet for him, but it had a solid finish::

Cptn Swain: But if makes you feel better. I can tell her our transporters are down and that I'll come over by shuttle.

Rhan K'hal: +Engineering+ K'hal to Engineering, need a quick favor. I need 10, mid-2300 isolinear chips replicated and the ones up here are... not fit for recreating fertilizer for a Tellarite potato farm.

Cptn Swain: ::He smirked:: Probably not far from the truth.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Thinking they both, Blue and Red, just need a good rest ::

Maryse Dubois: Do you want to know something? :;Sighs.:: I ran the numbers for the slingshot jump. ::Paused::: It wasn't going to work. And I mean at all. We wouldn't even be having this talk. Yes your idea didn't quite get us home, but we're still alive to try again. Thanks to you.

William Chocox: +Rhan+ I...I'll see what I can do sir. We've maybe got one that's functioning properly. I'll get them up there as soon as possible.

Hakran K'hal: Well, I didn't mean to make you sad. You've already got enough to deal with. I know the Commander wants you stuffed out of the way, and we're not exactly in great shape, but if you need anything, let me know.

Rhan K'hal: +Will+ Thank buddy.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: It would make me feel better to meet on her ship where there's less chance of an... incident, but I'd have to protest you going over there yourself.

Rhan K'hal: (( thanks even - though if you want to thank some NPC named buddy, you can do that too ))

Cptn Swain: We can shuttle the supplies back and forth. Would give the fighter pilots something to do anyway. I am sure they're getting antsy.

Rhan K'hal: (( I pity any children Miranda may have - they're going to be locked in a dungeon as soon as they're capable of walking ))

Irene Mincine: :: The combination of Maryse's reassurances and the medication was calming Blue down. :: "Yeah, I'm sure you're right... we'll find a way to get us home. I just..." :: Irene gurgled. :: "...urgh. Your medicine's making me sick. It feels so weird going into me like that!"

Irene Mincine: :: Red nodded. :: "Thank you. I know I don't belong here, but... you made me feel welcome."

Cptn Swain: Augustin> Should we check to see if she's killed him yet?

Rhan K'hal: :: throws the now solidified failures into a pile of other debris that hasn't been cleaned up yet ::

Maryse Dubois: ::Smirks.:: Sorry. It's safer this way.

Rhan K'hal: Nah. She's too busy fixing the ship to want to take command. She'll kill him later.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Supplies, fine, but not you. I'll go speak with her. I'm the most qualified to lay out the physical needs of the ship.

Irene Mincine: "Seems kinda... archaic." :: Blue looked at the big-ass needle and tube sticking out of her arm. ::

Hakran K'hal: :: gives Red Irene's shoulder a squeeze :: Okay, I have a blue-uniformed Irene to check on. It's hard enough keeping up with one of you. :: smirks and heads for the door ::

Cptn Swain: ::He tensed:: And the least qualified to explain how we got here. Let alone what we'll need to do to get back. ::He paused:: Why don't we both go.

Irene Mincine: :: Red smiles faintly and walks him to the door. :: "It was great to see you again."

Maryse Dubois: Maybe it'll help by not looking at it.

Hakran K'hal: We are trying to figure out how to get everyone, including you, where and when they belong. So just hang in there. :: exits Red's room and heads for the lift ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She stared at him flatly.:: Leaving the ship without a Captain or Commander? ::She threw up her hands.:: Why not? No one is going to protest, will they?

Irene Mincine: "I can feel it! That doesn't help!" :: Blue frowns! :: "Better than Gre'thor, I guess."

Hakran K'hal: :: grabs a lift, heads to sickbay once again ::

Cptn Swain: I am trying to... I am trying to work with you Miranda.

Irene Mincine: :: Red sighs and returns to her fake booze. Even if it tasted terrible, it was at least a taste of home. ::

Maryse Dubois: Well maybe reading will help take your mind off things. ::Hands her a PADD.::

Cptn Swain: Look, I know things haven't been easy between us lately. And that's not your fault, but we can't go on like this. Not while the ship is in crisis.

Hakran K'hal: :: walks into sickbay and heads over to Irene's room, gives the door jamb a rap with a knuckle ::

Cptn Swain: The way I see it, our primary concern is getting this crew home. I am not unaware of my responsibilities as a Starfleet captain. Hell I almost marooned us in the last time period on those concerns.

Maryse Dubois: ::Looks, waving Hakran in.:: And look at that. More visitors.

Hakran K'hal: :: comes in, looks Blue over :: You look like hell, but at least you're not in it.

Cptn Swain: The crew needs to know we're on the same page. We can't let ::he motioned to them:: our troubles make them think there's a crises in the ready room too.

Indaura Ryssan: :: Turns her head ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She sighed and downed the entirety of the drink he'd given her, wincing at the burn. The glass thunked against his desk as she sat it down firmly.:: No, we can't. I'm trying hard to learn to trust you again. After what you did... it's been difficult for me to do that.

Cptn Swain: :He nodded:: And I am trying to be respectful of that, because lord knows I don't really deserve a second chance from you.

Irene Mincine: "I suppose." :: She glances at the padd, then puts it down on her chest when Hak comes over. :: "Sir! Please excuse my, uh, state of dress." :: Since this was a decontamination room, she was covered by two tiny pieces of fabric that barely covered her groin and chest. At least we know this was Blue and not Red because of her big bat'leth scar and array of tattoos. ::

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I know you have the crew's best interest in mind, but you haven't had the best track record lately. So when I see you taking unnecessary risks... ::She shook her head.::

Hakran K'hal: Oh for crying out loud, Irene, you're in sickbay getting yourself put back together. I can hardly blame you for being a bit skimpy. Just don't show up in the science labs like that, you'd make even Semek's Vulcan head turn.

Cptn Swain: And I appreciate your perspective, you know that. But we can't have a repeart of what happened on the bridge.

Cptn Swain: You know how gossipy the bridge staff is -- by this evening we'll have reportedly had fisticuffs or a Vulcan wrestling match on the bridge.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Then maybe you should start including me in your risky decisions. How about that for compromise?

Irene Mincine: :: Irene calmed down. :: "Well, you startled me, that's all. It's different when doctors see me half-naked than superior officers."

Cptn Swain: I didn't exactly have time to ask you when the Enterprise hailed us, but fair enough.

Cptn Swain: I will do a better job of including you in my decisions. So, here's your first one. We almost certainly can't get back to our time period without the help of the Enterprise.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She nodded in agreement.:: Agreed.

Cptn Swain: (( 3 minute warning ))

Cptn Swain: Our engineering teams are swamped, and medical hasn't stopped since we got lost in this infernal paradox.

William Chocox: ::goes to the replicator:: +Rhan+ I think I've got what you need sir.

Hakran K'hal: I do the department's paperwork, Irene, it's not like I'm a Fleet Admiral. Anyway, I hope you haven't been beating yourself up, figuratively since you're not up to doing it physically yet, about what happened. I pushed to use you as hard as you pushed to keep up.

Cptn Swain: To say nothing of the science teams and operations folks.

Cptn Swain: The repairs might go faster with some help from her crew, but obviously there's some risks there.

Cptn Swain: And our science people will need to work with hers closely.

Cptn Swain: And we're going to have to share some of our, specifications.

Irene Mincine: :: Irene sighed. :: "I've felt terrible about it. Dr. Dubois's been talking me through it, though."

Rhan K'hal: +Will+ Great. I can have someone swing by, I have people all over the place. Unless you need to take a leisurely walk while contemplating your next repair. I wouldn't want to deny you thinking time.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She frowned, but begrudgingly agreed.:: All that is fine, but we still need to take precautions. Briefings for the crew and such.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: No overt access to our systems. This isn't going to be just a supply transfer.

Hakran K'hal: :: smiles over at Maryse :: She's the best. Of course she's had plenty of practice doing in the insane and experimental, being on this ship for so long.

Maryse Dubois: ::Smirks.::

William Chocox: +Rhan+ I...uh...I should...Commander Hawthorne would probably want me to wander up there.

Irene Mincine: "She's put me back together so many times..." :: By now the medication had given her a glassy and totally out of it look, like she just drank a whole bottle of Benadryl. ::

Rhan K'hal: +Will+ Of course. :: the smirk quite audible ::

Cptn Swain: ::he nodded:: Agreed. Why don't you start on protocols, I'll head over and tell her only what she needs to know.

Cptn Swain: I don't get the sense she entirely trusts us.

Hakran K'hal: :: looks back to Irene :: Good, you have a nice nap now, and I'll try to science our way out of this.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I wouldn't ether, frankly. ::She turned for the door.:: Remember what I said about risks...

Irene Mincine: "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm..." :: She conked right out. ::

Cptn Swain: Can we agree to that?

William Chocox: ::starts to wander up to the Bridge::

Cptn Swain: (( sorry to run late but want to wrap this section up))

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Sir. ::She nodded.::

Hakran K'hal: :: steps out of Irene's room to let her sleep :: Doctors, I'm grateful for your efforts.

Cptn Swain: ::he sighed at the sir, but he understood:: Very well. I'll tell Rhan to inform Enterprise of the change in travel plans.

Maryse Dubois: ::To Hakran.:: She's been through the worst of it. It's just a matter of getting her body back up to strength.

Cptn Swain: And when we get home, you can feel free to deck me again if you still want to. Deal?

Hakran K'hal: Don't be afraid to sit on her if she tries to come back to work before she's ready.

Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She laughed.:: If I still want to? Sure. Deal.

Cptn Swain: ..and...
