Confusion

Ramjep secluded herself in her quarters for the next few days after the battle with Qel Garnoopy.  She had things to think about, and seclusion was the best way to deal with it.  The Qel had fought well, with a stamina that could rival any Klingon male.  This fact tugged at the back of her mind, like a targ tugging on a bone.  Was she getting that soft, that even a human male could tax her fighting abilities? This and another doubt crept into her mind.

Narn.  Her mate had not been around much.  Keeping himself busy at his post, which was not an unusual thing for him, but generally he found times they could be alone. At least as alone as they could be with their growing daughter needing care.  Maybe that was it then?  Narn now had a child, and now she was unappealing to him?  She got up and walked to the full length mirror, studying her shape in the casual attire she was now in.  She had returned to her normal weight after the delivery, she was the woman that she had been, before pregnancy.  Males were difficult to figure out, that she knew as she studied her reflection.

Garnoopy.  The Qel again came to mind.  He had gotten in a several good attacks, and she had underestimated him, not moving back quick enough to avoid almost being eviscerated.  When she had pressed the attack, he had met it with an endurance she hadn’t expected.  The Qel was becoming an enigma to her, natural curiosity was beginning to demand the questions be answered.

She walked over to check on her daughter, who was fast asleep.  Narn should be back soon. She went into the bedroom and changed into her uniform, rolling her shoulder a bit in the leathers.  A check of her chronometer, to make sure Narn’s  duty time was just about over.  When he returned, she would head out to check on Security.  Messner was in charge at the moment, and she wanted to find out how the newest security officer was doing.  Messner would have been able to watch the Ensign’s work while she had been taking this time off.

After that was completed, Ramjep planned to visit a few people, Rhoz was on the list.  Maybe he could answer a question or two.  She was hesitant to talk to the HoD, but perhaps she would also consult her on the things that were bothering her.
