Helmsman's Log and Historical Brief

Helmsman's Log, Stardate 30106.31

Lt Marx Recording.

The Arcadia is currently holding station within the Lipu starsystem on a diplomatic mission.  Because of the sensitive nature of this mission, the Arcadia has to hold a distance between the first planet, Lilliput, and the 12th, Brobdingnag.  The Ambassador from Lilliput is only 6" tall, and could have the possiblity of being stepped on, whereas the reports from our consul on Brodingnag indicate that some of the inhabitants there reach up to 60' or greater.

Both Ambassadors have the ability to alter their height, but from what I've seen, their height changing abilities seem to stem on their internal power reserves, or ki.  Of course, that would mean that logically, that His Excellency, the Ambassador from Brobdingnag, would be able to hold a human-sized height longer than His Excellency, the Ambassador from Lilliput, since their ki reserves are diiferent.  However, a sensei once explained to me that "Size matters not."  And then there is Khu Lon.  The Matriarch of the Amazons on Rhydin would be considered a midget, but her ki reserves where such that she was able to project it.  Which means that His Excellency, the Lilliputian Ambassador, may not be trained in manipulating his internal powers.

The Arcadia is holding station in the orbit of the sixth planet of the Lipu system.  The ship's orbit is essentially a corkscrew, where we have to match the orbital velocity of Lilliput and slow to match the orbital velocity of Brobdingnag.  I have yet to hear from the Engineering staff complaining about stress the orbit is placing on the impulse engines.

Historical Briefing

The Lipu system has only three habitable planets in the system, Lilliput, Brobdingnag, and Laputa; the first, 12th and 6th planets, respectively.  Lilliput and Brobdingnag are the only inhabited planets, both discovered that Laputa is inhabitable and has significant strategic resources, whereas the inhabited planets have minimal strategic resources.

The discovery of Laputa by both planets has caused significant friction, and as such resulted in small scale skirmishes between the two planets.  These skirmishes have exhausted planetary resources on both planets, and which ever planet successfully colonizes and develops Laputa, will be the winner in this interplanetary war.

The Federation was requested by both sides to arbitrate, as the war has caused grievious harm to both planets.
