The Shuttle Danube has crash-landed on a barren planetoid located 9 hours

from its destination, Starbase 36.

Starbase 36 knows we are overdue and we hope they are sending a search

party. Our last transmitted coordinates were close to the planetoid.

Captain Chirakis is in serious condition and Commander Linus is in

command.

Our warp coil has been repaired and tested. The shuttle flies and is

spaceworthy, though a bit shaky.

We have found water seeping through the sand on the surface; the source

must be deep within the planetoid and probably inaccessible by ordinary

means.

We have found an edible slime, though it's not exactly what one would

call excellent cuisine; it tastes like overcooked spinach laced with

aspirin.

Ms. Kent has detected Orion pirates on a course that will pass close to

the planetoid - will they find us?

The sun has risen and we need to brace for more heat and low humidity.

Supplies are running short.
