Duty Log, Stardate 02102.4

Sivuk of Vulcan, Science Officer

USS Raeant NCC 3345-G

After bringing the Mji refugees aboard Raeant, Captain Michaels requested I move among them to take tricorder readings, to "see if there were any clues."  I suppose he meant clues as to the reason why they are refugees from their planet, and why they slammed their freighter into Freedom Station, both unanswered questions at the moment.

Upon entering the cargo bay I found Lt. Shamor in charge and the Mji quite agitated.  For a politically and technologically advanced people they were surprisingly disorganized, confused, and in very poor physical condition.  In short, they showed behavior and physical condition similar to the Poy.  There was no evidence of pathogenic evidence, so we must assume that the problem with both the Poy and the Mji is not pathogenic in nature.

We did succeed in speaking to one Mji who seemed to be in a leadership position.  Despite their desperate condition, the refugee leader insisted they should not allow their government to "trade away their advantage." They became agitated, demanding the medicine -- supposedly the headache powder we found on the station.  Retreat from the bay was necessary and Dr. Matthews flooded the bay with a low concentration of anesthezine gas to calm them down.

Analysis of the data is ongoing.  I have sent my findings to Chief Science Officer Kirouff and to Dr. Matthews, with whom the science department is working closely to solve this most interesting puzzle.
