In the observation deck of the Starbase, two figures were sitting looking out the viewport.   The older Vulcan was dressed in an appropriate Vulcan attire for his rank.  The younger woman  was dressed in a soft teal dress that exposed one shoulder and she had a white silk wrap drapped accross her arms.  Her red hair softly pulled to one side flowing solftly over her shoulder.   Pterm looked at his daughter.  He could not help but see the young child who was uncertain  about her first day in a Vulcan

class. It still troubled him with her decision to have even entered SF to this date.  He had nearly lost her several times. He was having a difficult time coming to terms with her current assignment.  He had been glad that she was on Vulcan for the past several years.  How many days had he thanked logic for SF making sense and reassigning her to SF Medical at the Vulcan Medical Academy.  He had heard the Republic had been destroyed at one point.

The smaller healer looked out at the ship that was docked at the station, the ShaKir.   There was a heavy silence among the two of them.

"Father, I believe at this moment, there is an earth phrase that would be appropriate at this moment.  A piece of monetary currancy for your current thought analysis. "

Pterm looked at his daughter.  "I was just trying to find the logic in the current situation and so far I have failed to find it."

Teresita didn't realize she just sighed as she stared out at the ship waiting for the arrival of the Republic. The ship where he had been last posted and was listed as missing in action. "It is a waste of energy to try to understand Father.   My project had been completed.  Now it was time to collect field data, which I can not do on Vulcan or a SF Medical/Mental Health and Research on Earth.  They currently needed a first officer on the Republic with  diplomatic background."

"Yes, but command has not been the career path you had wished to pursue."

"There are qualified officers who can analyze and recommend a course of action if I need input on tactical issues.  Diplomatic and personel issues are no different than when I reported to the Captain as a counselor.  I am not sure how comfortable the Captain will be with a first officer who is a physician and Vulcan mind healer."

He looked very sternly at his daughter, "Many years ago, you left Vulcan because of the pain and loneliness after the death of Vare.  Archer was on the Republic,  where will you run when you have to face the possiblity of his death?"

Tere only looked at her father, she had no answer for that question.  Pterm was about to say something when they both heard steady footsteps behind them.

A tall handsome young Vulcan approached the two dressed in the dress uniform for a Captain of a Vulcan Science vessel.

"Pardon for the interruption, Healer Pterm and Healer T'Ere, the perfromance is about to begin."

Teresita stood up and noticed that her father had not.  "Father are you coming?"

"Daughter, I promised your mother I would talk to her tonight." he stated.

The both touched each other fingers in the traditional family manner.  "May T'Vet shine on your Journey, Father."

"Peace my daughter I am always with you."  he stated.

Teresita turned to look at Solent.  He had made captain.  She owed her existence to both of this men.  Solent offered her his arm . The small healer placed her hand on his and they proceeded to the concert.

Pterm watched the slight figure of his daughter leave the room.  He mused over the the emotional responses as he remembered a similar picture the night Vare came to escort her to a poetry reading event in the mountains of T'Vet.  He knew that night she would never be the same again, she had grown up.  He could feel the gentle link with Mandy in his mind and wished she was here with him now.
