Attention Deficit

********************

Andrea's head was swimming.

"How does that make you feel?" Andreas voice faded out.

And Mooses face appeared, confused, almost twisted, contorted.

A scan of Merri's baby on a biobed diagnostic result readout. Its tiny, underdeveloped appendages moving delicately. Small jerks as she readjusted herself. Its only a few tender weeks old inside the womb. An actual life with DNA shared by Merri and Trichon.

"Oh Merri, I'm so sorry." A regretful doctor holding her patient.

"You must choose your own path."

Una Knlwtchr folded her hands over her young granddaughters and considering her carefully. A faint smile, a very unusual sight, spread over the elder Romulans face. Her eyes softened.

A touch to Captain Christopher Moose's temple. Taking in the sight as he slowly closed his eyes and allowed the Counselor to enter his mind.

"Open your mind, Moose."

A shock of emotions; fear, regret, uncertainty. Emotions one is not used to attributing to a Captain of a starship.

And still they exist.

And her own emotions flood in.

"How does that make you feel?"

Holding Merri in anguish as she sits on the end of the biobed. Andrea can feel the incredible sorrow. Regret washes over her.

"Oh Merri, I'm so sorry."

Now, the memories swim like flashes of a thunder storm.

Moose opening his mind to Andrea.

Merri's child.

Her grandmothers hands.

Moose...the baby...elder hands. Over and over.

********************

"Andrea, are you OK?"

Doctor Knlwtchr blinked and looked from Trichon to Dacotah again in confusion. It was becomming harder and harder to stay in her reality. If only her grandmother were here now.
