USS Republic Recnt Mission Summaries

Ok, the short version.....

The USS Republic was ordered to do yet another exploration mission in the Gamma Quadrant. This mission however, had been ordered by Starfleet Command as more of a relief mission for the crew than anything else, following the stressful events that had recently befallen them in the Alpha Quadrant. The USS Republic had recently lost several crew in following a mission in the Badlands, and then the loss of loved ones upon their return home, in the recent attacks on San Francisco, McKinley Station, Mars and the Jupiter Station.

The Republic during their mission in the Badlands, had stumbled upon an old Alpha Quadrant Jem Haddar breeding facility that had been hidden on a planet obscured by a dust cloud and debris field in the Badlands. While investigating this facility, the crew had discovered what had more recently been taking place there. Long story short, was that the Jem Haddar/Vorta/Founders had abandoned it near the end of the war, and that it was captured with some of its intended 'crop' by group from the Federation, that had it's own interests to promote. What was found out after sifting through many documents later was that the site had been turned into a Section 31 testing facility which was developing biogenic weapons to be used against certain Alpha Quadrant species if their interest were to ever go counter to that of the Federation, or certain members of Starfleet. The away team had to create a way into the facility, as it was locked down internally, and nobody inside was letting them in. As Murphy's luck would have it, the away team had an accident while doing the initial walkthrough of the facility, finding only dead bodies, and several labs with ongoing experiments, but none that would help. Within moments of a sample being knocked over, one of the Andorian's on the away team was dead, and several of our other crewmen that were not of Terran decent, began to show signs of illness. While searching for clues to help them, they found that there had been one survivor that had locked himself in the command center and refused to let the team out. He was eventually taken into custody by the away team and questioned.

However, at this time, Starfleet...or factions there in, had gotten our initial reports, and we were ordered to destroy the base, along with those crewmen we had down there, to prevent the spread of this disease throughout the Federation. The CO and XO had a strong disagreement in regards to these orders, and at one point, while Blu was in her yacht, Kania had ordered the Republic to find and possibly fire upon Blue's ship, eventually causing yet another rift between the two.

Through much sifting through data, collaboration with doctors and scientists still aboard the ship, and finding a hidden cache of virus and notes frozen in the back of a hidden freezer, an as an antidote was created and the crew finally able to return to the ship with the help of the biofilters. However, the surviving scientist was recognized as a Section 31 member that the crew had encountered a few years back. Several of the crew wanted to do away with him, but it was decided that the very few that knew the truth, and this was limited to just a few of the command staff, that we would return him to Starfleet Command and with an away team down there, we lost many npc's and most of the crew was really sick until an antidote was developed, but we had actually captured this one agent that had messed with us years ago. Upon trying to return him to Earth for trial, we received orders that he was to be taken from us by order of some other admiral to be returned for more discrete questioning, but we also knew what that meant, that he'd be let loose. Before we could argue however, he had infected Lt Carter with a sample he had secreted away in the helm of his shirt, and escaped upon one of our shuttles. The Republic as well as the other Federation ship followed in pursuit, each warning the other off, but in the end, we decided if we could not save Lt Carter, then we would have to sacrifice him, against the wishes of much of the crew, to keep the virus from being spread. We were able to get a small boarding party aboard the shuttle using the Blu's yacht, and were able to retrieve Andy as the Republic fired upon the shuttle destroying it. Due to the conditions found throughout the badlands, we were unable to pick up good enough readings to see if he had been in the craft when it blew up, if he had beamed off, or had thought up some sort of escape. What we didn't know at the time was that he had placed himself into a probe, which was beamed up by the other ship. After argument and heated words, each commanding officer threatening to bring SF Command down upon the head of the other, the ships went their separate ways. The crew took a brief stop at DS9 for medical examinations, and it was decided that Lt Carter was still too ill, despite being give the cure, to return to duty, and he was sent back to Starfleet Medical on Terra. The crew was then notified that they would be given a 2 week shore leave in sector 001, and the ship made its way towards Earth.

We had barely been in the system, when there were a series of coordinated bombings on housing sectors of several non-Terran species in San Francisco, McKinley Station, Utopia Planatia and Jupiter Station. In several cases some of our crew were in a position to be implied as suspects, but eventually claimed by a group known as Terra for Terrans, but with support from certain other races that were thought to be sympathetic. Anyway, in the subsequent trial of Lt. Commander Kwai, that it was noted on one of the security surveillance tapes, that this guy Brock had once again appeared, and were able to get the trial stopped in a closed door session with certain other Admirals upon presenting the proof on the tapes of this Brock's involvement and trying to set up our crewmembers. Evidently, we had ticked off someone in Section 31 enough so, that someone had decided that the Republic, needed to be gotten out of the way. Yes, the crew was quickly becoming paranoid, but rightfully so. In an attempt to cover things up, it seems that a very public 'capture' of the perpetrators was made public, but that the person that 'Brock' was supposed to be, had been accidentally disintergrated in a phaser accident while he was attempting to escape.

The Republic recalled its crew, and rendered what aid they could to the attack victims before being ordered to DS9 for resupply, and new orders in the Gamma Quadrant. After the events in Sector 001, and upon Blu receiving a subspace message, only a limited number of crew members were allowed to leave the Republic to take on supplies only, and then return to the ship.

Leaving DS9, we were on our way through the wormhole when a small Ferengi ship, that shouldn't' have been inside, or in transit through the wormhole, rammed us, causing a split in the space time fabric, and shooting us out at a time and location not where we planned to be. We were either some 600 years in the past, or some 200 years in the future somewhere in the Gamma Quad.

Searching for a way back, or a place to live if repairs did not go well, the Republic began to investigate several planets and systems that were on the trajectory back to the wormhole. While leaving one of the sectors, we were accidentally picked up by a satellite of one of the nearby planets. This planet, Rexxar, thinking that we were aliens from their neighbor planet, Rogesh, began to work on a defense to save their world. Rexxar had recently gone through political and spiritual upheaval, following years of civil war, and the threat of both sides destroying each other with a type of nuclear missile. One side finally won out and took control of the governments as well as the weapons. Fearing that the invasion of their planet was imminent by the godless Rogeshians, the planet and each side's nukes, they decided to launch them at their neighbors.

The Republic crew, at that point, felt compelled to get involved, as we felt this attack on Rogesh was directly due to our inadvertent involvement, when our new as they only did it due to our new helmsman accidentally letting us be seen. While trying to covertly redirect the missiles, there was a subspace hiccup from our tear in space that pushed the missiles to the planet sooner, and some damaged us more as well. In the aftermath, we went down to assist the devastated planet, feeling it our fault and that we had to render aid. Some began to think we were the gods from their stories that came down from the sky, though we didn't look as hideous as their religious artifacts had depicted the sky gods. We found out later, that a race of Giant Crickets was really the ones and they were ticked that we messed with their <ant farms> for lack of a better term. So, they were coming after us. Suddenly, we were being tugged the other way, by a future Federation ship (yes, I hate time, and rarely do this), but they came to tell us, that what we started here, would turn into the end of the Federation, and we'd have to help. Their ship took a pounding while we escaped a bit. But we had to rejoin the battle to help the future ship out. In the process, the Republic was destroyed, and all but a dozen hands lost. The Crickets were damaged enough that the Sprint was able to get us to the wormhole, but due to their damage, they were unable to take us back in time, and they had only enough energy to jump to their own time, where the remaining Federation forces were holding the Guardian on the Edge of Forever hoping they could bring us there in time.

So, they had us jump back, to either try to stop Brock from getting the Ferengi ship, or to prevent the accident in the wormhole. They told us he died soon after in their records and was a non-entity after he took us out, so his loss would not be so bad. However, the loss of the Republic was bad for the timeline. We can not however, go back as far as the bombings, as too many other events sprang from those events, that changing that much, there was too much that could go wrong.

Thus, the crew split into two groups, with each group jumping through as close as possible to try to get to this Sky Harbor Aegis, and see if we could find or stop this 'Brock', or at least get a ride to DS9 and back to the Republic from an old friend, an Andorian named Frederic, that had recently taken command of this station.

The two groups made the jump through the Guardian, minus Ensign Egomansky. He had went down on our way to the portal, but one of the marines guarding us urged us on, saying he'd take care of the doctor. Personally, many of us were of the belief, that he hadn't made it, but we weren't even sure 'we' would make it.

The first group that made the jump, were able to hit exactly where they were aiming, Sky Harbor Aegis, a day prior to the target point. Team One's priority was to keep a low profile, stay unnoticed, keep an eye out for the second team, and if possible, keep an eye out for 'Brock'. The second group, however, materialized on Risa, a known problem location for several of us, and probably why the second group materialized in this location. Through some creative wheeling and dealing with a few 'discreet friends', Rian was able to secure us transport to Aegis, aboard a freighter headed that way with cargo anyway.

While the freighter was on final approach to Aegis, we were suddenly notified that we would not be able to dock, as there was some sort of security issue aboard the station. Our only thought was which of our crew, had made a mistake and had been discovered………
