Sky Harbor Aegis | 19 July 2019

=/\= Aegis Mission Brief 7/19/19 =/\=
17 May 2388 - Stardate 2388.138

TBS was 2 hours. The time is 1600 (4:00 PM) Aegis local.
Aegean will attempt to neutralize the star's pulses permanently.
Regulus is attempting to contact Aegean via Morse code.
The Alien Alliance delta-wing starship has stopped in the area of the star, reason unknown.
On Aegis, to prevent more losses command will not send rescue ships.
As for the gremlin, communication is still forthcoming.

Chirakis: :::CnC, getting antsy:::
Fletcher Jackson: ::OPS:::
Dacia Sandero: @ ::on the Aegean, checking rad levels::
mimipavilion: ::on the CnC, still::
Tarisa: ::At her station on CnC::
Tarisa: Miana> ::With Alexis and Annisha, after school.::
Alexis McFarland: ::with Annisha and Miana::
Johnson Kenyon: ::in quarters, wondering if he should try to get into the TL again or if he should try and find someone to verify the odor is gone::
Alexis McFarland: Where should we go? You hungry yet?
Chirakis: ::steps to Mimi:: Doctor, are you familiar with the alien we have in quarantine in the security complex?
Scott Coleridge: @ACTION> Several panels on Aegean relating to shielding are red. The radiation shielding has weakened to dangerous levels.
mimipavilion: Somewhat, from what I heard, it's stinking up the place and no communication has been made yet.
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ ::at Aegean science station on bridge::
Nijil tr'Korjata: Annisha> :: walking with the gang ::
Johnson Kenyon: +Lt Little+ Lt Kenyon to Lt Little
Johnson Kenyon: Lt Little> +Kenyon+ Little here. Go ahead
Chirakis: Indeed it is. Do you happen to have any remedies for that - besides basic cleaning?
Dacia Sandero: @ ::also prepping sickbay in case the shields fail::
Chirakis: @ LtCdrDayson> +Aegean+ Aegean, Regulus. Respond.
Scott Coleridge: @::has spent the past 2 hours brainstorming with Nijil and Dran about the hare-brained idea to permanently stop the star's wave phenomenon::
Johnson Kenyon: +Little+ Do you think you could send someone to my quarters to... uh....
Alexis McFarland: Should we go to Blubby's again? Hm.
mimipavilion: ::shakes her head:: Unless you want to beam it off the station... humanly of course.
Johnson Kenyon: Little> +Kenyon+ to give you a sniff?
Fletcher Jackson: ::double duty, hoping it keeps him away from the donuts:::
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ :: is agitated :: I don't think we can stop the star from doing what it's doing. Our best bet is to simply get away as soon as possible.
Scott Coleridge: @ That would be the preferred option.
Scott Coleridge: @ But if we can't move, and we're not rescued, where does that leave us?
Johnson Kenyon: +Little+ Yes, sir.
Chirakis: The alien in question is harmless. Lt Kenyon has been attempting to communicate with it and has not been successful. However, there is a distinctive smell that comes from it. Whether it is natural or from anxiety has not been determined. Do you suppose you could check that out? Collaborate with Lt Kenyon?
Johnson Kenyon: Little> +Kenyon+ I'll see what I can do
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ A new mailing address.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ Dead, the mass of the star is several magnitudes greater than our own.
mimipavilion: ::nods:: Of course
Scott Coleridge: @::Dran:: Were you ever able to make a determination about those strangelets?
Chirakis: Contact Lt Kenyon, please. Help him if you can.
mimipavilion: Yes ma'am.
Dacia Sandero: @ ::Formulating some contingency plans with her medical staff::
Chirakis: @ LtCdrDayson>::sighs:: Any progress with Morse code?
Chirakis: @ Brady> No, sir.
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Dr. Pavilion to Lt. Kenyon.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ I was not, but our resources are limited.
Johnson Kenyon: ::choking:: +Mimi+ This is ::cough:: Lt Kenyon
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ While the pulses do incapacitate our equipment it also purges the dangerous radiation. If we can figure how to restore power faster we would be fine.
Chirakis: # Alien Ship> Stationkeeping inside the nebula, no communication, no threats.
Chirakis: @ LtCdrDayson> Keep sending it. If you can think of anything else... let me know.
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ I've been asked to help you with the creature in security. I know it has a foul odor and communication is non-existent.
Scott Coleridge: @ Okay, let's work that angle.
Alexis McFarland: ::they eventually find their way to the commerce section, looking around the stores there::
Scott Coleridge: @ Our systems were overloaded. We've restored some, but others are too damaged for us to properly repair while we're still in this environment.
Scott Coleridge: @::Nijil:: I'm assuming you've already done the best you can coaxing more from the AQS.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ We don't even know what's out to a few AUs
Scott Coleridge: @ Is there a way we could use the pulse itself to power our systems?
Chirakis: ::shakes off her thoughts and moves to Tarisa:: Commander... a question. ::thoughtful expression:::
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ I shall be very grateful for the help, however, I appear to be in a bit of a pickle
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Explain?
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ It's mainly a method of energy for propulsion, but the lines to our systems are damaged. Running the plasma from the AQS to systems not specifically designed for it is... risky.
Tarisa: ::Ears perk up, as she glances towards Chirakis.:: Yes Captain?
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ The pulses create a damping field that blocks energy movement. Possibly consider the effect an energy vacuum. that would require running all systems backwards to make use of.
Dacia Sandero: @ ::it's a small ship, so setting up medical and a plan is fairly easier::
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ Doctor, I visited the creature in his cell briefly and seem to have become contaminated. I've confined myself to quarters until the smell leaves. Unfortunately, I lost the ability to smell it and don't know if the anti-stick formula works.
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ care to have a sniff?
Chirakis: If a ship is disabled and a star is drawing it into its gravitational well, what could be done to pull the ship away?
Fletcher Jackson: ::work work work, not paying much attention to anything but ships coming and going::::
Scott Coleridge: @::Nijil:: But we want propulsion, if we want to move away like you've suggested. ::all:: So let's say we want to turbocharge the AQS power to the propulsion system.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ We'd have to create a field with a cancelling frequency and matching amplitude.
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ You split the AQS.
Chirakis: Hypothetically speaking, that is.
Tarisa: Aside from another ship using a tractor beam to save it? ::Ponders:: I would do something to stop the gravitational waves.
Alexis McFarland: @::leaves sickbay in the care of the head nurse and heads back to the bridge::
Chirakis: :::considers that:::
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Ok, I'll pass on the sniff. What formula? And do you know if the smell was natural or due to anxiety? ::starts moving to one of the mission configuration console, considering the gremlin is a mission, so to speak::
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ Split?
Dacia Sandero: @::back on the bridge, and takes a secondary console::
Scott Coleridge: @ What do we have on board to create the field? The deflector is out of commission... hmm. What about the structural integrity field? We could recalibrate it, and it covers the entire ship.
Chirakis: Then... if a runabout was unable to pinpoint the area of the disabled vessel, would it be wise to pursue it?
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ Lt. Garand can give you access to the videos being recorded of it. I honestly cannot tell you if he can stink on command or due to anxiety. For that matter, it might be a pheromone.
Chirakis: 10:30 PM
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ Shields are the easiest to manipulate.
Tarisa: A standard runabout? No. Since standard warp cores do not fair well against the waves.
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ Smaller the singularity, more radiant energy is released. What I know about the devices they are usually deemed unstable and replaces at such a point but it would increase energy output.
Chirakis: :::sighs into a nod:::
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Alright, I'll contact Garand for the videos. So about this anti-stink formula that you mentioned.
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ I dropped off some puzzles that serve as a sort of engineering aptitude test. The videos show some interest. I haven't been in the area to know whether the smell has improved
Johnson Kenyon: ::putting on his uniform::
Chirakis: Thank you, Commander. If you get any thoughts, please pass them on.
Alexis McFarland: ::feeling hungry and heads to Blubby's::
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ Sorry doctor, what do you want to know about Ensign Sartrou's anti-stink formula
Scott Coleridge: @ We could use shields if you think that's better, but they're already very weak. ::glances at the alarms on the panel:: We're about to be dosed by a fair amount of radiation.
Chirakis: :::begins a pace around CnC:::
Chirakis: {{Kh’éile your assistance would be appreciated}}
mimipavilion: ::straight faced:: +Kenyon+ Like what it's made of and how it could possibly make security less horrendous.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ That's our issue. Either nullify the field, or protect us from radiation...
Scott Coleridge: @ We won't have much radiation protection any longer.
Scott Coleridge: @::looks at both of them:: Unless another ship comes up to us and physically knocks in the next hour or so, this is our only chance. It's a long shot, but it's the only shot. I'd rather take it than sit here until we expire.
Chirakis: Cpt d'Ka> ::stops working::: {{ There is nothing I can do in this situation}}
Tarisa: Miana> :;Eyeing a couple of the shops.:: Which one shall we visit?
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ doctor, as it turns out that secret lies with Ensign Sartrou who works the night shift. He left me some of the concoction, but I couldn't tell you how he makes it
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ The bridge and key systems have passive methods of radiation protection, so that will help
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ he did mention something about an old earth remedy for skunk smell though
Chirakis: ::sighs, staring down at the commerce level:::
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ and... that somehow it breaks the bond of the chemical odor to skin and hair; assisting it in breaking down. I'm afraid I've haven't studied chemistry.
Alexis McFarland: Hmm. You feeling hungry yet? We could check out some clothes shops or something
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Alright, I'll send him a message about the formula. I'll look into the Skunk remedies.
Scott Coleridge: @ Okay.
Johnson Kenyon: ::leaving his quarters and heading down the hall to see if his smell is noticed
Scott Coleridge: @::decision-making face::
Chirakis: Delta-Wing Alien Ship> ::still at stationkeeping just inside the nebula::
Scott Coleridge: @::Nijil:: Modify the shields in the way you suggested, even if it compromises our protection. Then work with Dran to... overclock the AQS.
Johnson Kenyon: ::seeing a female Lt JG, approaching::
Scott Coleridge: @::glances at another chronometer:: If the heuristic algorithm based on all that data we gathered is right, we're due for another big wave soon.
Scott Coleridge: @ We need to be ready, because we probably won't get another chance.
Johnson Kenyon: ::to female Lt JG:: Excuse me. Do you notice that smell?
Tarisa: Miana> :;Nods.::
mimipavilion: ::sends a message to Garand that she needs all available video on the creature, followed by a message to Ens. Sartrou about the anti-stink formula that was given to Lt. Kenyon::
Chirakis: LtCdrDayson> :::moves aft to think, then spots the ship::
Chirakis: Garand> +Mimi+ Where would you like to pick it up, Doctor. I have it in the office, here.
Johnson Kenyon: female Lt JG> ::sniffs:: Yes, there is something, but I'm not sure what that is
Chirakis: Garand> Or I can shoot it in your direction.
Alexis McFarland: ::smiles and browses the shops, looking at new dresses, shirts and shoes::
Johnson Kenyon: Thank you... you've been most helpful.
Johnson Kenyon: ::heads to the TL::
mimipavilion: +Garand+ I'm on the CnC can you send it to the active mission configured station that I'm logged into.
Johnson Kenyon: ::so excited he nearly forgot the antistink mixture, heads back to his quarters to pick it up::
Tae'Lynn Dran: @ ::reviewing options with the AQS. Most are found in the user manual under "never do these things"::
Chirakis: Garand> Sending now.
Tarisa: Miana> ::Going through a rack of clothes that are her size.::
mimipavilion: +Garand+ thanks.
Johnson Kenyon: ::now heading to TL::
Alexis McFarland: ::checking some clothes in her own as well::
Scott Coleridge: @ I'll let you get to work. Ask me if you need another hand, but for now I need to make some rounds.
Scott Coleridge: @::little "captain's job is never done" sigh::
mimipavilion: ::sees the video's and starts going through them::
Scott Coleridge: @::at least he's getting a hang of "set your crew a nigh-impossible task when in imminent mortal peril"::
Chirakis: 10:50 PM
Scott Coleridge: @::goes to sickbay::
Johnson Kenyon: ::enters TL:: Medical deck
Johnson Kenyon: ::exits and enters sick bay::
Scott Coleridge: @::Dacia:: Doctor, situation report?
mimipavilion: Dr. Bishop> Hello Lt. how can I help you?
Chirakis: @LtCdrDayson> ::moves forward::: There's a huge ship just inside the nebula... sitting there.. .like it's watching.
Dacia Sandero: @ We've set up sickbay and the mess hall for a backup location to treat patients with radiation symptoms. With the number of crew that we have, we should have enough supplies to last us at least two weeks.
Johnson Kenyon: ::to Dr. Bishop:: Is Dr. Pavillion available?
mimipavilion: Bishop> She's on the CnC at the moment.
Chirakis: Lt Hill> Whoa...
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ test
Johnson Kenyon: Thank you. ::stepping into the hall::
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ ::working ::
Dacia Sandero: @ So far, we don't have too many reports of symptoms regarding radiation poisoning at this conjecture of time.
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ Lt Kenyon to Dr. Pavillion
mimipavilion: +Kenyon+ Go ahead.
Alexis McFarland: ::looking at new pairs of sandals::
Scott Coleridge: @::Dacia:: Good. Shields are failing, and I need to inform you that we're going to attempt a plan that might cause them to fail even more quickly.
Chirakis: 10:55 PM
Dacia Sandero: @ I see. Well, we should be prepared for whatever comes. I hope.
Scott Coleridge: @ We're going to try to use the next pulse from the star to power propulsion sufficiently to move us farther away, and hopefully into a region where we'll be detected.
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ I appear to be at liberty. The stink is largely gone. Would you like me to join you?
Dacia Sandero: @Sounds complicated. I hope it works.
Scott Coleridge: @ It requires precise timing, yes. If it works, we'll be safer until help arrives. If it doesn't... well, we likely won't be dying of radiation poisoning, at least.
Dacia Sandero: @Yes, that's a plus
Chirakis: @ LtCdrDayson> :::not giving up::: +Aegean, Regulus+ Respond.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ bet the Nei'rrh would have been okay.
Nijil tr'Korjata: @ :: sighs :: I'll be home soon Annisha.
mimipavilion: ::pauses the screen and sits back a bit:: +Kenyon+ Glad to hear the stink is mostly gone. No, I'll come to you. Where are you? ::transfers the videos to her console in her office::
Johnson Kenyon: +Mimi+ I'm at the sickbay actually. I do suggest, however, that we meet at the Brig. Now that we have a working formula, I want to spray some there
Chirakis: (last words)
mimipavilion: ::takes a deep breath and looks around:: +Kenyon+ Alright I'll meet you there.
Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=
Chirakis: =/\==/\=PAUSE SIM=/\==/\=
Chirakis: 7/19/19
Chirakis: Thank you.

Chirakis: Hm... a lot going on at once.
Chirakis: Captain Coleridge - TBS?
Scott Coleridge: What time is it currently?
Chirakis: 5 PM
Scott Coleridge: 4 hours
Chirakis: 4 hours it is.
Chirakis: Words for the crew? The whole crew, that is.
Chirakis: Other than you're going to die.
Scott Coleridge: I'm more optimistic than that
Johnson Kenyon: I'm going to live and not stink
Scott Coleridge: What did Riker say? "Speak for yourself, sir. I plan to live forever."
Chirakis: Heh...
Chirakis: Comments or questions from the crew?
Nijil tr'Korjata: Sounds good
Chirakis: Seeing none...
Johnson Kenyon: today is a good day to die?
Chirakis: Crew dismissed. Be well. Be Safe. Don’t forget your towel.
