  1. as far as I know, midshipman is no pips, it can be found on the same site, here is the red one's URL http://www.ucip.org/images/pips/R-Collar.jpg
  2. "See guys...I TOLD you we could put a turbo in this thing...too bad we couldn't afford the racing suspension...my dad's gonna kill me...ok, you guys can't show this picture to ANYONE...promise?"
  3. Andrea, ahem, Teresa Its so good to see you recovering so well, its answered prayer! I know I sent you a personal note, but I also wanted to join our whole community, family rather, in expressing my sentiments. You've been in my prayers since I heard about this and that is definitely apparent from your progress! I hope and pray that you continue to heal and that you can be back with us as soon as possible. I agree whole-heardedly with what Jami posted and would like to add: Philippians 4:14 "I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength" Your Friend, Sam ('s player)
  4. Hells yes I would...the mere concept of a number of seasons followed by movies is practically cannon! I'm sure that they could find content for them, same with Voyager movies, lets see how that (amazing) crew functions in tandem with the rest of the federation. Besides, they aren't letting them put any trek on TV...we need new material! If they can come up with a good set of plots, I would love to see movies that continue both those series, and maybe an Enterprise movie, seeing as Enterprise was awesome and all. I'm not picky, i just want more trek :P (rant over) -Sam
  5. actuallllly.....you don't need to futz with photobucket, there are some sites that simply have all of the images...you can right click on the image of your particular collar and select 'open image in a new window'. then copy that URL and encase it in http://www.ucip.org/images/pips/R-LtJg.jpg when put in as an image the result is: http://www.ucip.org/images/pips/R-LtJg.jpg' alt='R-LtJg.jpg'> that url was just for the image of red LtJG, remember to open the image for your pip in a new window before copying the URL. Xanatra, this site has tons of them, cadets included... http://www.ucip.org/images/pips/index.html perhaps that process is a bit easier -sam
  6. she'll only get pink eye from reading A9's posts Xantara, i'm not sure why it worked differently with some browsers. a lot of times when changing avatars i've had to delete cookies and log out and log in and do all of this goofy stuff before the new avvy showed up. It may have something to do with that, or perhaps you got the BB Code wrong, it could also have to do with the board settings for BBC and HTML, if the other guys' explanations didn't help there is a link by the smilies in the write post window for 'BB Code Help' hope that also helps
  7. Hi, probably late on this. One time I showed up for a sim and besides the GM's i was the only one their. instead of simming they assigned me to write a log on a previous acad sim. I posted it in STSF Academy in the forum Ten Forward Lounge -Sam
  8. Hi Everybody Sorry I'm hard to get a hold of...very busy. Your stuff will probably take a long time. if you've got some outstanding requests or changes to a character i did that you havn't heard back on, please email me at [email protected] thanks, Sam's Player
  9. Road Rage Personal Log - S.K. Sema'J SD 10606.15 OOC: this thing sat on my computer being pieced together for two weeks, i've been busy and distracted and just realized that the sim is in a few hours. Here is my thrown together, last minute log (hey, sounds like most of my classwork :)) <Begin> Sam walked out of the holodeck and wiped sweat off his brow. For a number of hours he had been running flight simulations testing modifications he had made to the navigational system. About 12 hours ago Sam had been walking out of the bridge as his shift was ending. Lt. Marx was at Tactical and looked up and waved him over. Sam was somewhat confused, having only talked to the man a few times, but he stepped over. Marx mentioned to Sam that he should tighten up the maneuvering systems in case things got sketchy, he mentioned a few specific areas that should be addressed. Sam was about to protest, trusting his own flying ability, but Marx gave him a look that made Sam realize that the former helm officer would have made the same protest and was still giving Sam this advice, so Sam nodded and walked off the bridge. As he left the holodeck, Sam tapped his combadge. "Trichon everything looks to be in order, if we get in a bind we should be able to slip out of it" "Alright, Sam, thanks." Trichon replied. Sam walked to the turbolift, "Deck Three". He got out when it arrived and walked into his quarters. After a sonic shower he sat down at his console, he checked some mission logs from the bridge and was concerned seeing what had been going on. He then got the memo about the communications blackout. His mind flashed to his sisters reply to the com he had sent a few days ago... -- Sam, It's good to hear from you, but I'm sorry to here that things are heating up a bit out there. You know Rosie is always welcome and i do have room for her. Tell her I miss her and let me know if she's on her way. Love You, Jadyn -- His breathing quickened as he second guessed himself. Now that there was a comm blackout and they were in the middle of everything there was nothing he could do. Rosie was on board what was quickly becoming a battleship. Sam got up quickly, his chair bumping against the wall. His upsetness was causing him to sweat, he threw on his vest variant uniform and rushed out of his quarters almost too fast for the automatic doors and got onto the turbolift. "Bridge" he growled. Sam fumed about his bad decision, he paced around the small space and kicked the wall, slightly hurting his foot. The turbolift arrived and he breezed onto the bridge. He sat down heavily and avoided the looks of his fellow crewmen. He capped his anger and realized that if he let it affect his flying he might upset his supreriors. Sam decided to save his high emotions for the heat of battle, if (and when) it came. <end>
  10. Wow....Thats almost as good as this headline from University of Wisconsin Madison's fake paper, "The Onion" "U.S. Intelligence: Nukehavistan may have Nuclear Weapons" you can enjoy the satiric genius of the full article here http://www.theonion.com/content/node/37474 but anyway, its amazing what they will publish and expect to sell as legitimate information. Humorous if anything :P
  11. haha, thats a good point... most of the people on your shiny new advanced sim probably wouldn't appreciate it if you started off going through the Pon Farr or jak'tahla in your first sim :P
  12. "All's Quiet on the Home Front...for now" Personal Log: S.K. Sema'J (joint log with some npc's) SD 10604.24 OOC: I know i wrote a log already, but N'Dak's news report inspired me <begin> Sam Sema'J was sitting in his helm seat as the Arcadia warped its way to Elasia. Ens. Betty was at ops for the moment and the two were conversing. Betty: "...Yeah, i think it took us all by surprise, I wonder what prompted the captain to leave so suddenly." Sam: "Indeed...it seemed rather spur of the moment for being for vacation reasons, usually these things are planned--" Sam was cut off by a chime on his console, he looked over and realized the chronometer was making the noise. It was time for the shift change. "Well looks like its time for me to get a few hours off, talk to you later" "Yep, have a good one, Sam" Sam logged out of his console and slid back his chair. He got up and walked to the Turbolift, "Deck Two". Sam walked into his quarters and sat down at his desk to cycle through some paperwork before he laid down. Just as he sat, Rosie came in the door, she had just finished up at school; her face brightened when she saw Sam. "Hi, Dad!" "Hey sweetie! How were classes?" "Good, are you on a break" "That I am, Looks like we lucked out with scheduling" "Yep...well I've got some reading to do " Rosie hugged her dad and then went and sat on the couch with a padd.Sam returned to his console screen. Rosie must have been tired: out of the corner of his eye Sam noticed her head nod into the pillow and the pad fall onto her stomach a few paragraphs in. He smiled to himself as he accessed the Federation News Service to catch up on current events. "Elasian Conflict Stirs" read the top headline. Sam raised an eyebrow and went on to read the article about the civil unrest brewing on the planet they were currently heading to. When he got to the section on the Lord Regent Koshic being a member of the Arcadia crew, his eyes widened. So Lt. N'Dak was part of the Elasian government? This only made his appearance in civilian clothing more confusing. Sam was distressed by this news. He looked over at Rosie asleep on the couch and then glanced at the picture of Liz on his desk, he winced at both. His work in Starfleet was important, but his family was his life. Sam thought for a moment then he opened up the communications window of his console. -------------------------- Subspace Message Earth:United States:WA:Seattle:Residential District 7 To: Sema'J, Jadyn From: Starfleet: USS Arcadia: LtJG Sema'J, Samuel Subject: Worrying... Dear Jay, How are you? Its been so long since we last talked, and so much has happened in that time. I hope this letter finds you well. I was just reading the news about the conflict on Elasia, you may have seen it. What you wouldn't read is that the USS Arcadia is on their way there now. Apparently one of our crew has political importance there and is going to fulfill his duties, I don't know the specifics. What I do know is that there have been some close calls during my time here. And now the ship is plunging into a civil war, how much Starfleet will get involved in the conflict i don't know. What's more is that our captain has just taken LOA and so things are somewhat scattered and unstable. I know how important it is for Rosie and I to stay close during this time, but at times like this I'm so very worried for her well being and best interests. I don't know what do decide yet, but the possibility of her heading back to earth is definitely taking up some space in my mind and heart right now. When I left you were very gracious in offering to take care of Rosie should the need arise. I just wanted to let you know that things that have been worrying me lately and that that might become a possibility in the near future. I'll keep in touch and keep you up to date on what goes on and what I decide. Thanks much, miss you. Love you lots, Sam -------------------------- Sam finished the message and sent it off to his sister. He then walked to the couch, set Rosie's padd on the table and laid a blanket over her. He kissed her on the forehead and walked to his room for his own short nap. As Sam laid down, his eyes caught a photo of He and Liz holding a small infant. Sam said a short prayer, reduced the illumination in the room and closed his eyes. <end>
  13. Yes yes, i'm late - but i've been out for a few weeks. My name is Sam and i helm the Arcadia. <----thats my chair :P Welcome to both of you, if i have time i may see you in an academy...otherwise, see you among the advanced sims. Kansas speaks true, the Moose Tips are a great resource from a very wise simmer (who is missed). Enjoy your acad days and again, welcome Sam
  14. I have a theory...when you watch TOS you can't watch it from the perspective of watching a TV show, then you can't possibly enjoy it...but if you watch from the perspective of experiencing part of the Trek saga...its golden
  15. Its all so good - but as i've mentioned in the many 'favourite series' polls i've encountered in my time here...Most people's favorite is their 'first trek', the one that introduced them to the Trek universe. For me, that would be Voyager, and for favorite captain, its Janeway, super cool lady, great leader. Anyway, thats me. -Sam
  16. My character is fully human, as is his daughter who I NPC. I have an El-Aurian character in mind, and I think i came up with a Ba'ku once, but those are just ideas that i will work on if i ever get time to play another character on a second sim ( which probably won't be for about 4 years). I also had an idea, if i ever had a chance to be on Agincourt (a future sim) to play my daughter all growed up and in starfleet. As for your avatar, it looks fine to me, Worf is one of the best cannon characters (though its hard to compare). I miss my old avatar, it was the helm console of the enterprise with a five speed manual gearshift attatched...good stuff - but i've cycled to some different stuff. Anyway, thats all I have... ::transmits two hundreths of a credit to the 'bucket' account:: -Sam's Player
  17. yay music! i was going to mention that it was chattaway - but huff grabbed it. Huff i didn't know you to be the music buff, we should chat it up about music some time :P -Sam
  18. "Tension's in the air, crewmen going everywhere" Personal Log - S.K. Sema'J SD 10605.21 <begin> Sam sat at his console. The bridge was fairly desolate as there was a senior staff meeting in the ready room. As Sam sat checking out the docking systems and making departure preparations, he thought of Captain Moose's recent departure; it seemed strange for there to be a senior staff meeting without him, but then again, he was no longer part of the senior staff. Sam was both curious and apprehensive about the coming changes; he did not know who would be doing what as things changed. Sam expected Commander Dacotah to take command, but this was not for sure. In addition to the command issues, Sam had seen Lt. N'Dak go into the meeting in civilian clothes. Surely he knew that shore leave had ended about an hour ago. Sam had finished all of his preparations and was now monitoring the docking clamp systems to make sure they would be warmed up enough to disengage from the station when they left. He hoped they were ready soon, because at the moment, all clichés aside, you could cut the tension with a knife. Dr. Knlwtcher walked out of the meeting looking somewhat frazzled. Due to his tension and the fact that it was the first senior officer he'd seen in sometime, Sam snapped up in his seat and readied for departure. "As you were, Sam" came the the Dr.'s fleeting response as she strode to the Turbolift. Sam relaxed and slumped back in his seat. After what seemed an eternity, the meeting finished up. Cmdr Dacotah did not return with the others and Lo'Ami gave the order to plot a course to Elasia and get there at best speed. Elasia? Hadn't they been there fairly recently? Sam had too little information to make quality assumptions, but N'Dak in civvies and this seemingly out-of-nowhere trip to his home planet were two very pivotal, yet confusing pieces of information. Sam knew it was not part of his job description to ask questions and figure out the situation - he punched in the coordinates for Elasia, set the engines to peak efficiency and warped from the station. Sam eased back into his seat, nearly breathing in the tension that filled the bridge. <end>
  19. i could do that, maybe within the week, i'm having a stressful one - what color uniform?
  20. if you guys could be specific about what kind of uniform you want, btw, for some reason my computer does not like to display uniforms with much clarity, i can't really explain it but if its a huge problem...well i'll see what i can do or you could try going to someone else, or i could send the sim to someone else and they could do the screenshot, i dunno, maybe you don't mind, let me know, i'm somewhat new at this as i said... -sam
  21. hi everyone, sorry i've been out, i urge anyone with gaul to double major in music! Trekgirl, i got your thing and i think i can do a vulcan batazoid mix as you say, let me see what i come up with! -Sam
  22. Personal Log - S.K. Sema'J SD 10605.11 "He Slept" OOC: Nothing really happened between sims for my character, but since i had been gone for such a long time, i felt obligated to log more often... <begin> Sam got the message about leave ending in 6 hours. He then went back to his quarters and slept until his duty shift started. <end>
  23. <OOC: Hey guys, missed y'all - should be able to attend and log more regularly now!> Personal Log S.K. Sema'J SD 00605.04 "Piece of Slag!" <begin> As much as Sam loved flying Arcadia, things like orbits tended to bore him. He tried all the tricks he knew to occupy himself, he programed some new flight plans, some evasive maneuvers and some docking procedure macros. He also made extensive preparations for departure, though he had no idea when they would be leaving the system. He had planned and set the ships systems so precisely that the moment Moose gave the order, they would more or less glide out of the magnetic pull of the planet and be at warp to the next location before Sam had the chance to say 'Aye'. As intriguing as these projects had the potential to be, they did little to quench Sam's stuffy-sitting-on-the-bridge-doing-nothing feeling. Sam wasn't really aware of it, but as far as being saved from boring orbits, this was his lucky day. Sam noticed some commotion behind him and as he tuned in his chair, he became aware that Lt. Marx's console was malfunctioning. This was only the beginning of a sequence of events that can't really be explained in Sam's personal log, but have to be experienced. Suffice it to say, that the consoles on the bridge began to get rather frustrated with the crew and began to take it out on them. Sam's adored helm console was not excluded from these shenanigans. The ship lurched out of its carefully monitored flight path and began to slow and move from its orbit. Fortunately, Sam was able to get it fully out of orbit and held stationary in open space before the orbit completely deteriorated. Sam watched confusingly as the stations zapped people and then blinked in synchronization. Moose and Dac were muttering about something related to a crystal entity; N'Dak was going on about communication; Sam wasn't really keyed into all the goings on with the entity from the mission, as he had pretty much been flying in circles the whole time... As far as he was concerned (and this may have been the lack of engineer in him...) the ships systems were going haywire and he was annoyed. The ship had just gone over an overhaul after nearly being dead in space after a series of unfortunate events a few missions ago. Now it was sparking and flickering. Sam had always hated when things didn't work, technology was to be operated, not fixed! After a period of staring in astonishment at the tomfoolery on the bridge, Sam merely sat in a chair (away from the consoles) and waited to be of use. He may have been guilty of a lack of big picture thinking...but all he was really concerned with at the moment was why his ship was being a piece of slag. <end>
  24. My personal favourite is Steamrunner. It's a small, manuverable and very sleek looking ship. Though it may not be majorly powered, it corners like it's on rails! ^_^. I kind of see it as the sports car of the fleet. I had a cool thought, what if it were able to seperate? The tiny rear enginnering section and nacelles would slide out of their little pockets in the saucer and it would look really cool; like a huge...stabey thing flying through space...I don't know how to describe it, just look at the picture and you will know what i mean. Anyway, thats my fav. whats yours? :) (that brings up an interesting point...when a ship like an ugly Galaxy seperates, what provides deflector functions for the saucer?)
  25. i was looking at join dates and i realized that i joined the forum a year from yesterday, or two days ago, its late...and today is my birthday, thats fun! anyone else have important dates relating to your simming, or care to share how long you've been with us, or simming at all? -sam's birthday boy player
