  1. Okay, this one is not as fun, but it is a bit fun. My friend Karen is one of the few people who know i am a star trek fan. And thinks I'm dumb for being one. In my freshman year of high school, i took french, and like all foreign languages, the first thing we did was to pick a name. So any of you who are perceptive would accurately guess that i piked "Jean-Luc" as my name. Karen asked me why I picked it, and i whispered that i would tell her later. But then the teacher got to me for announcing our selections, and i said, "Jean-Luc". And then the Madame said, (really loud and enthusiastically) "Oh, Star Wars!...no, thats Star Trek, ok..." And moved on. As if that wasn't embarassing enough, Karen turned around just shaking her head at me...and I really had no way to respond. Its fun looking back. But not as fun as publically treating my PDA like a communicator. Though when driving ALONE, i tell my car to "all stop" or "full reverse". :D
  2. thats what i love about simming. You don't need such and such a graphics card, and to buy this game and this system and all that gamer mumbo-mumbo. I'm not saying ANY of that is bad! Its great, but its also fun to use you're immagination. To start to actually feel what you're character does and so on and so forth. Thats what i like about simming, cause its as close to a gamer as I get. :D
  3. Personal Log: Ensign S.K. Sema’J _____________________________________________________________________ Sam trudged into his quarters. It was late, and he was exhausted. He’d had a long flight to rendezvous with the Arcadia, and then had spent a tiring day of forms, physicals, briefings…all of the pre-action mumbo-jumbo. Sam was not greeted by a happy sight in his quarters, tripping over storage crates as he entered. Sure, some things like furniture and wardrobes could be replicated for him, but there were personal belongings he wouldn’t trust technology to handle. He smiled to see half the stuff had been unpacked and placed neatly around the main area of the quarters. He snuck over to the adjoining room and peeked in to see Rosie sleeping peacefully, a sight that never ceased to calm him. Sam then tip-toed back through to his room, grabbing an all-too-familiar case along the way. He placed the box on his bed and opened it, holding his composure. He began lifting out the framed photographs of a beautiful woman with deep red hair and bright blue eyes. Just as his eyes began to well up, he caught movement out of the corner of his eyes. Before he could react, the eight year-old leapt into his arms, nearly plowing him over. “Hi Dad!” He hugged her and set her back down on the floor. “What are you doing up, did I wake you?” She responded that she had been awake waiting for him. The two of them hung the photos of Liz around the quarters, sharing happy and sad memories. Then, after a midnight snack, Sam put his daughter down to bed. Sam knew that in the morning, bright and early, he would be taking the Helm of the USS Arcadia. Right now, the ship was on a rendezvous course with the USS Hunley, which apparently was constructed with the previous Arcadia, or something, and they would be investigating. Despite the early start, Sam stayed awake, staring out the window into space. He woke up in the same chair, not knowing how much he had slept. Sam cleaned up and dressed and headed for the Bridge.
  4. ....oops, mistake, Calvert, if you read this...delete it!
  5. Well at least thats better than being beaten WITH a post... :)
  6. Actually, the ringer on my phone is the TOS main theme....only Alexander Courage could put Opera and Star Trek together (I guess Worf can too, but thats different) :D
  7. Actually, I went to court to fight a ticket for that same accident ^....there was a girl in there who said she was speeding because her car has a digital speedometer and she was driving her friends car with an analog one...that was her excuse. The judge actually made her get up and turn arount to everyone sitting in the hall and say "i will never use speedometer type as an excuse for speeding." it was great!
  8. That is a stupid response...its too bad he didnt put it the way a guy in my accident did Well I saw that white car run a *hardcore* red light!!
  9. agreed
  10. Besides all that everyone has said, there is something else... Now that we know how you feel, and what you're experience was...the next time you're name shows up in a chatroom....everyone will be more than willing to wamly welcome you and give you all the help we can. Knowing the STSF world from the veiwpoint I do, i would strongly urge you to give us another chance, and not let this opprotunity slip by with only one sim. Hang in there, we are all here for you. (And we'll pray for your Mom too) :D
  11. hey hey, now :D I never ever said that I'VE done that....it just seemed like something a trekkie might do.....
  12. ^ ^ Yep, looks like they pretty much covered it.....welcome, and see you in the sims!
  13. Don't be embarassed to answer yes to this... Has anyone ever had to make a phone call, or call to someone in the house or something like that....and tapped their "combadge" before they could stop themselves or realize what they were doing? :D
  14. my TV remote kinda looks like on....sad, i know
  15. Here is my tip....i was a bit intimidated at first too. What i did, was before i ever participated, I watched. i watched about four different sims, academy and advanced, before i said a word in the chatroom. While i did, i asked some questions in PM's to the GM's (i just love the sound of that)....but if they didn't have time to answer right away, i wasn't too affected, because i wasn't playing. When i did sim, i would stick around afterward and have a long chat with the GM (via PM) about what I could work on. But i would suggest observing....There is a teaching tool for people in traning (both trainers and trainees) that goes as such: 1. I do, you watch 2. We do it together 3. You do I watch 4. You do So maybe that will help you "assimilate" (hehe) the academy better Good luck, see you in the sims.
  16. c'mon people, its so simple...one is a VII....and one is an X....obviously
  17. Bet he wishes they still paid the military in the 23rd century, eh?
  18. I like in First contact when Lily hands the phaser over to Picard. He tells her it's on maximum, and when he powers it down, you actually hear the energy drain. Kinda scary that it has that much power.... "its my first ray-gun"
  19. Excellent, i'm glad you agree with me about the actresses, and i agree with you about the character
  20. as for the time thing, if you can find an hour to WATCH a canon trek episode...you can take the time to make you're own! Don't worry about getting started, if you show up at the academy, there will be GM's, other cadets, and returning graduates who are always eager to help you!
  21. He's Dead, Kansas! sorry, i coudn't resist, you all know its funny
  22. you've got to be kidding me....kirstie ally can't act in the first place, much less play a vulcan, however, the other gal they found for her part in "search for spock" did alright, i'll give you that
  23. :D  one of those two is apropriate I enjoyed it, it was fun to watch, a little disturbing....in that fun-loving way, kind of like theatre people (which i am) my favourite was the "brothers and the sisters" with the afro and the nun...good times. Thanks for sharing that with us Van/Roy
  24. i made a cool design for a class....but its crazy (like all my ideas) plus i don't have any cool rendering whateverness to make nifty pictures.....and i havn't even compleated all my sketches of it. Even if it was finished....i think i would be too nervous to explain it to any of you class gurus...too much pressure
  25. Wouldnt it be super cool if paramount decided to make references to STSF ships on star trek shows? like had a ship stop off at Sky Harbor Aegeis...or be hailed by the U.S.S. Reaent there's certainly enough media on them flying about that it could be pulled off. Imagine having you're character mentioned on the actual show!! I know its unrealistic...but wouldnt it be cool?
