  1. "Eyes Open" by Ensign McKee and Captain Kawalas Ace Ciara looks down at the Captain and kept trying to get her to wake up. "Come on, you can do it, its time we get you to wake up," she said to her, gently shaking her shoulder. Kania slowly opens her eyes and then squints from the lights. She looks up seeing someone looking over her. Ciara noticed the squint, and nodded to one of the others to dim the lights above the patient. Kania's eyes open wide seeing Ciara. "Birdie?? Is that you?" Then realizing she's in sickbay, rubs her eyes. "I'm sorry I thought you where Cmdr McKee." Ciara steps back, she swallows hard. Stares at the Captain. "I'm sorry Captain. I'm ENSIGN McKee" she said softly. Kanias eyes dart back to the Ensign in shock. "McKee?" Ciara nods to her, "Yes Sir, I'm Ciara McKee. Birdie was my sister Bridie, if I remember the nickname that you all had given her when she served here," she quietly explains. She reaches for the tricorder, her hands shaking as she does so. She scolds herself for being this silly. She knew that there were going to be times like this when she agreed to take the assignment. Kania takes a deep breath and closes her eyes for a moment. "My apologies if I brought back bad memories Ensign, But you look a lot like Bridie when I last saw her. I was in hopes..." Kania stops and sighs. Ciara nods. "I understand that one. We are close in age. Like you, we still are holding on to hope that she will be found." "Ensign, I'm not sure you know what has happened to me but you may want to have Dr Maxwell contact Mr. Link and tell him that I think we need to do the second half of the procedure. I feel a burning in my head and I'm not sure that is a good sign." Ciara nods and does a scan of her. "Umm Captain, I know that you have been out for some time. The second half was done before I came on board." She picks up her chart and reviews what was done to her, trying to catch up on what occurred She reads and making faces as she concentrates. "Can I see a mirror?" Kania last remembered being a 10 year old in looks, She wondered how much more she had progressed. "Let's see if I have aged any more." "Captain I think I have a reason for the feeling that you are having. They used nanonites to do the repairs on you. I think due to the number of them used, you are feeling some regeneration warmth. Similar to how it feels when you have a fever and the increase in white blood cells." Ciara looks around and finds a tray that is as close to a mirror as one would find in sickbay. "Here you are Sir." Kania nods in agreement as she takes the tray. "You are probably right Ensign. I did have a feeling like this before but it was more minor than it is now." "It will keep increasing as they do their work." She continues to explain, "If it gets to uncomfortable let me know and I can try to assist you in feeling better." "Thank you. Doctor I'll keep that in mind. I will let you know. For now I can tolerate it." Kania lifts the tray so she can see her face. Her mouth drops a bit seeing herself as she was when she was in her early teens. Hearing Ciara, Kania lets the tray down and looks back to Ciara. Ciara waits to the side, leaning against the next biobed, her arms folded across her chest. "Very good. We will keep checking on you. I'm glad to see you are awake. Conscious patients are much better." Kania smiles at Ciara's Comment. "Well, I have aged a bit more anyway. I'm not a 10 yr old child any more. I wonder if Holly will let me access anything. And I like being awake also." Kania says as an afterthought. Ciara looks confused. "Holly?" "Its a computer program that can be very trying at times. She thinks she runs the ship and know what's best for us. She LOVES giving us toast. She has integrated herself into the main computers." Ciara shakes her head, she vaguely remembers the stories that Bridie had written her about them. Of which toast and Holly were mentioned. "Engineering was working on a solution but a word of warning, do not make her mad at you." Kania says to the young Doctor. Ciara just laughed. "If you say so Sir." "So how long have you been here Doctor? Or shall I say how long have I been out." Kania asked trying to get time back in order. Ciara smiles, "Don't worry, I just came on board a short time ago. Matter of fact I haven't even been to my quarters. But! That is enough. I need you to lay back down and get some sleep." She looks at her sternly. Kania rubs her temple again feeling the burning sensation of the nanites. "They shouldn't have..." Kania sighs and looks away for a moment and then back to Ciara. " They should have at least let you unpack. I am getting tired maybe we can talk again later. I have stories to tell you of your sister and her Heroism." Ciara smiles, "I'd like that. But you sleep now." "Thank you Doctor McKee." Kania chuckles a bit. "That's going to take a bit of getting used to." "You will get there, we all do." Kania smiles at Ciara and closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep once more. This time a more relaxed and healthy sleep. Ciara nods in satisfaction, makes some notes on the Captain's chart then heads back to see what is up next.

Name: Ciara Morgan McKee Rank: Ensign Height: 5 ft 3in Weight: 120 Hair: short wispy auburn colored Eyes: Green Age: 28 Family: Ciara ( pronounced Keera) is one of four children that Dierdre and Kyle McKee had. She has one sister and two brothers. The family originates from New Chicago. The family is a close knit group and try to keep in contact as much as possible. Ciara's sister is Bridie McKee, who currently is MIA from the USS Republic. Her brothers have returned to duty on Earth after her sister's disappearance, to aid in finding her. Ciara and her family grew up in New Chicago. Like her sister, Ciara excelled in the sciences but that is where the similarity ended. Ciara was more into the life part and decided to go on and advance into the medical sciences. She was a very quick learner and enjoyed her time in school. As she was attending school, she would get mail from her sister about her travels during her years at Starfleet. It didn't take long for Ciara to realize that like her, she was also going to advance on and go the Starfleet academy and finish her schooling there. The rest of the family also moved to be close to the academy, so the family remained close. This was especially a good thing when it was discovered that Bridie had disappeared.
