  4. As Jastus carried her over toward the bed, he felt her take on an entirely different posture, one he’d have never suspected from a woman so strong of will, but she literally curled up into a ball in his arms, a sharp intake of air between her teeth much as one did when feeling a sharp pain. Then she began whispering under her breath, for him to Fhaen na to do this. He felt her cringing through the touch of his fingertips against the hard muscles in her back almost as if his very touch was hurting her, and he began to worry that perhaps she had been injured down on the planet. The other dheno said that she had refused to be looked at by the maenak staff when the command staff had suggested it. Gently setting her down, he moved to kneel in front of her, to put her in a more relaxed position, with him at her feet. Reaching up to take her hands into his, “Be’Luh, tell me if I have injured au in any way, au pulled back when I picked you up, au sounded as if au were hrrau pain.” Thinking to herself that she would na have to worry about it much longer anyway, she shook her head, “Na, there is na wrong with me, I was just feeling apprehensive. Au know I can na do this thing with au Jastus. Au are my friend, and a friend is what I need right now.” “Na, what au need, is someone who is hrrau jol with au. Now….I’m not going to hurt au, I just want to have a look at au back to make sure au are alright. tr’Valdrin ordered me to take au to medical if au needed to be taken, and they’ll have my head as well if I let au sit here and suffer. Now, just sit still, I’m going to lift au tunic, just to look at au back.” “Na. Na, au may na, I order au to stop,” a slight panic in her voice, pushing him from her. “Na, sit still, I ‘will’ look for injury, unless au wish me to either drag all of medic up here, or me carry au down there,” he answered back, a look of determination on his face. Sighing, she leaned forward, resting her face into the palms of her hands, “Fine, but I still refuse any form of medical treatment. Take au look, then fhaen, leave me to sit in peace until they decide my fate.” Jastus, na committing to anything, walked around behind her, and gently lifted the back of the tunic, appalled at what he found. “What is this? How did this happen?” She sat there in silence, na moving, na speaking, just resting her face in her hands, her eyes shut, trying na to bring back the memories. “Be’Luh, au must let me get au to medical, and let them look at this. Surely they could do something to fix this, to make it less painful. How did this happen? This, is obviously na accident!” The woman continued her silence as he looked at a pattern of old scars, and newer healing wounds, where a sharp blade had been drawn across her skin. Other places, were what appeared to be burn marks, the impression of the side of a kaleh blade obviously present. Many were older and scarred, but a few still showed a tender shade of green where the skin was trying to heal itself. “Be’Luh, I’m sorry, I did hurt au picking au up. I’m taking au to medical.” ‘“Na! Au promised na to!!” she snapped at him. “How did this happen? Who did this to au? Why, did they do this to au?” “Isn’t it obvious why?” She looked up, almost a tear coming to her eye, but she was able to hold it off. “I told au I had ‘handlers’ to make sure I stayed and did what they wanted. They wanted my command ability, knowledge of the area, contacts from the days of the Dominion War, and any secrets they could try to pry out of me. But I would na give up Galae secrets, nor who had sent me. I made an error in judgement early on, and got caught. They decided to use me instead of killing me. Did au really think I turned against our people for the fun of running weapons and drugs? Na, they made an example of me to others, they forced me to do what they wanted. And they told me if I were to yy’a myself, tried to escape or try to contact whoever it was that sent me, be that Galae or the Tal Shiar, as they were unsure, that they would make sure that the same thing that they were doing to me, happened to everyone of the people that I cared for back on the homeworld. Au know of whom all I speak, and I could na let these animals do this to my friends, loved ones and their families, so I made the decision that I could endure the pain.” Shrugging out of his grasp and pulling the tunic down. “This stays between us, au promised.” “Tell me who did this, I will yy’a them all. I will na let these animals get away with this.” “Do na worry, I got rid of several of them already. Sadly I had to blow up my nice new ship to do it.” she momentarily cracked a slight smile. “Ie, may they rot in Areinnye. But at least I made it look as if the Lloann’na ship blew them up, and that should keep those I care for back home, safe for now.” “What did tr’Valdrin and tr’Vat’rix say when au told them about this? A look of pity on his face, that bothered her even more and made her start to be angry with him. “They said nothing, for I did na tell them,” she snapped at him. “And neither will au. Ssuaj?” “What!!? Why na? This may help au chances to get out of this.” “Jastus, I already told au. I must play my role for the Empire. What I do, I do now for our people, and au may na like it, but I pray to the Elements that au will let me do this. I need to do this. My choices I made, were poor. By deciding to live instead of killing myself when they started to do this to me, well, that was my choice. And because of that choice, many innocent Rihans have just died in today's battle that took place. All due to my selfishness, I chose my friends instead of protecting the Empire.” Jastus stood and walked to the desk, opening the drawer and returning with a dermal re-generator. “You must say something, they need to know the lengths that these people will go to. This is barbaric, na even Kll’inghannsu would stoop this low. And, while we’re here, there is na reason for au to have to hurt this badly, let me help au a bit with those burns. And au know it’s my duty too, to report this.” “Na, this is the way it must be. Au promised me. I’ll make it an order if I must.” “Au are th’ann, au can na give me orders right now,” he replied matter of factly, as he waled behind her, and lifted the tunic again to heal some of the burn marks. “Na Jastus, this is the way it must be. However, I will ask, that au get a message to our friends io day, and let them know the truth. Do this for me, fhaen?”
  5. Jastus tr’Guard looked at the woman he was escorting and shook his head at her as he walked her towards the lift and then entered in behind her. He waited until the lift doors shut, then turned to her, “Llhei, au can na just let this happen. There is a menkha chance that they are going to sentence au to yy’a! To yy’a!! Look at me! Do au understand that?” “Ie, I do. But be wary Jastus, for the walls have ears. There are better places to discuss such things and this is na one of them,” she said, glancing back at him for a siuren, before turning her attention back to the closed door before them. “You know I’ve always loved you,” he felt his chest tighten in frustration at her apparent disaffection with the situation. “Ie, I know au have; but au also knew my heart belonged to another.” “ Ie,” he growled, “another that would na return the devotion that au gave him without fail.” “That is na true Jastus, and au know that. There were,” she paused, looking for just the right words, "complications.” She took a deep breath and slowly released it as she heard his bitter scoff at her reply. “He could na, as master of our ship, and I as his executive officer, ‘we’ could na show publicly how we felt for each other, and even when we alone, we felt that we had to maintain the perception to retain the respect of the crew. That, and well, his family, they were important au see, and he had been promised to another, to unite the factions in that province. We knew that he would have to go through with it, or it would have been an ugly thing in the senate. We had planned on somehow making it work for us one day, but, I think au are right, we knew it never would. That’s why I left in the end. We shared what we could, but na more. “ “Au were important too," he interjected. “Au do realize, do au na, that many of the crew knew, and thought au both veruuls for na listening to au hearts? In fact, just how many counseled both of au to become involved. Well, alright, na the whole crew, I did na approve of his ignoring au as he did. Au could have went away with me, au know I asked au before,” he reached over gently taking her chin in his hand, turning her to face towards him. “I would have given au the attention au deserved.” “Jastus, I would have done nothing but hurt au. Au would have had na but jol for me, while all the while I would have pined for another.” “Au would have forgotten him in time.” “Na, I’m sorry, but I had sworn myself to him, au know I cared for au, au were a menkha friend, but I could na have deserted him after I had given him my heart.” “I can na believe that." “It’s why I sent au away to serve with t’Rexan. I knew her to be much like myself, I knew au would respect her and serve her faithfully, and in what I had to do, I could na ask you to do that to au career as well.” “She reminded me too much of au at times, and it constantly tore at my heart to na know where au were, and to be reminded daily of au while serving her. It would have been kinder to have let me come with au to assist au. “ “And au would be standing accused along with me. Something needed doing, so I did it. I found the corruption, but I needed a bit more time. However, as you see, my methods were not the wisest. And in the end, I’ve brought about the yy’a of many of our people and many of our ships.” The lift door opened, and she stepped out, walking down to the room where she was at least being comfortably held while she awaited her verdict. They could have made her sleep in a locked closet, so she did appreciate this small kindness. As the room door shut behind her, tr’Guard ordered the room etreeh to lock the door and only open it for his command. Turning, he grabbed t’Rahks by the arm. “Llhei, ….Be’Luh, au must let me do something.” “Au will do nothing, I have accepted my fate, and I will answer for the crimes I have admitted to.” “Crimes!! He spat out in anger, “Au just saved this sector from traitors splitting it from the empire, as well as from Kll’inghannsu rule by getting tr’Vatrix himself to come here. Na, au must let me appeal to the Daise’Khre’Riov. He knows I serve his wife as her personal body guard while she is aboard, he knows my word is menkha. He knows she trusts me and surely he does as well as he’s personally entrusted her care to me directly before. I can vouch for au.” “And yet au are fahd and na with her. I do na believe he is so enamored with this crew, which would include au Jastus, at least from what I heard some of au other dheno speaking of during my stay hrrau au br’tehh. Na, I do na mean to be cruel, I’m sure he has his reasons for leaving au here and na with her. It was part of the agreement when I took the job. If I were caught, they would avow no knowledge of my task, it was the only way to get me in under cover, and if they were to admit this, it could possibly endanger others that they may have planted as well. it is why au can na mention it either. Besides, he knows me as well, and could vouch for me if he wanted to, but he’s the head of Galae, he can na afford to appear to be weak by pardoning an accused traitor.” “Weak! He’s already done that, time and time again. He’s pardoned the likes of our current Enarrain, Destorie N’Dak, after he tried to kill t’Rexan by feeding her to aliens. Do au know what that did to me when I saw her lose her hand? The same hand that au lost when the daise maenak once tried to take off au head and au tried to block the sword with au wrist? Every day I sat here seeing her, all these years, and could only think of au! Then I hear he has pardoned that engineer that stabbed his wife, t’Temarr, and he even let N’Dak recall that insubordinate fvai Sarvek after banishing her, even taking her out of V’kril prison. Why he would save that lot, and na au? It makes na sense! Fhaen. Fhaen let me go to him, and let me convince him to na yy’a au. Maybe reduce it to a prison sentence? I will appeal to him to spare au life.” “Au will do na such thing El‘Riov. Au will do au job and even if he tells au, that au are to be the instrument of my destruction, au will do it, and it will be so. I ask this of au Jastus, to preserve au career, for what I care for au too, to do this io thing for me. Promise me? Fhaen, promise me.” “I can na!” he growled back at her. “Promise me!” The anger rising in her voice. Grabbing her, he pulled her into an embrace, leaning down to kiss her, not letting her pull away when she tried, and then, finally stepping back. “Fhaen, let me take au away before they make the decision.” “Na Jastus, we must na do this. I can't betray him. And what if au daise were to stop by again.” “To hell him. To hell with her too. She’s treated me as if I were one of the murders, when all I’ve done was serve her faithfully, and stood up to N’dak for her. Na, my loyalty no longer rests with her.” “Jastus, au are na thinking this clearly. Do na let this ruin your career, au must let me go.” “To hell with thinking clearly,” he replied as he pulled her to him and kissed her again, finally picking her up he carried her towards the bed. “To hell with them all.”
  6. Edited to note log was co-written by Daise'Erei'Riov Kavek tr'Valdrin and Daise'Erei'Riov Be'Luh t'Rahks
  7. A Log by Daise'Erei'Riov Kavek tr'Valdrin and Daise Erei'Riov Be'Luh t'Rahks Be'Luh sat in the chair that Jastus had directed her to as he was dismissed from the room, and watched Kavek, noting how very much like his father he had become. He would make a fine Deihu one day. However today, he was here to listen to her detail the events of the last few years, and more importantly, the last few weeks. It crushed her that in trying to do what was right, and she was so buried in the part, that she was not able to extract herself from it prior to taking the part she had, that she would disappoint those she respected so much. Deihu tr’Valdrin and Daise'Khre'Riov tr'Vatrix had saved her from an embarrassing and depressing situation and she had so wanted to serve them well and find out what she could of the potential plots against the Empire. Never had she envision that 'she' would become an integral part of those very same plots. And only when it was too late, had she found herself too deeply involved to get out cleanly. Kavek placed his ISD on Destorie's desk and leaned back in his chair, studying the woman in front of him with a critical eye. He had been surprised by some of the charges to which she'd confessed. Any one of them was enough to have her put to death. All of them together formed a list of unforgivable offenses the like of which he'd never seen. She said she'd done it all for the good of the Empire. Perhaps if her plans had worked without fail, she would have been hailed as a hero. Now, however, she would be lucky to have her life spared. He wondered what Var'lon was going to do with her. That wasn't his concern for the moment, however. He waved a hand at the storage device as he spoke. "Daise'Khre'Riov tr'Vatrix gave me access to your confessions and I have several questions for au, if au would be willing to answer them." She inclined her head at him, showing him the respect he deserved as she answered, "I am at your command. The Daise'Khre'Riov stated that he wished me to answer your questions, so I will endeavor to do so to the best of my ability. Normally, I'd have taken my own life by now; however, I have found myself without the means to do such. Contrary to appearances, I am still loyal to the Empire and serve Galae. Ask me what au will," as she sat back in the seat, a cool demeanor of calm on her face, as if she were resigned to her fate already. "Au still have the opportunity to serve with honor by helping us unravel this mess." He frowned lightly and clasped his hands in front of him. "First, I would like to address the poison that au supplied for a possible assassination. I am na certain if au are aware, but the governor of the mining facility died under suspicious circumstances. Having suspected foul play, we had his body transferred here for autopsy. It is possible that the poison au brought was used in his death. Without knowing what type, medical may have issue discovering traces in his tissue. What did au supply and who was it given to?" Sighing deeply and shaking her head at herself, "It wasn't supposed to be like this; any of this. I knew that they were bartering with a few of the Kll'inghannsu weapons smugglers, to just make a show of might, that the Kll'inghannsu were a danger in this sector. But I had told them they could na trust them as well, that they needed a backup plan, just in case something should go wrong with any of the negotiations. A kidnapping, a hostage situation, or even if they needed to poison io of the Kll'inghannsu they were meeting. So, I supplied the Governor's aide with my Felodesine Chip, on the off chance that it would be needed and I would arrange to replace my own. When I had heard that the Governor was dead shortly afterwards, I began to suspect that the chip might have been the instrument of his demise. His aide, was rather ambitious, and worked behind the scenes trying to better his lot in life.” "Au are speaking of tr'Baris, ie?" Kavek frowned, picking up his ISD to make notes. "Was he your contact on the planet? Na the governor?" "tr'Baris was but one of my contacts. There were several others as well, so many I never knew who exactly I was working for or what all I was trying to get done. There were contacts from within the Othan fleet as well, though I suspect the orders came right down from the Deihu. Especially in light that he's here himself. I've dealt with him personally as well, he’s a foul beast and I'll leave it at that; an unpleasant experience. For the most part, the Governor had nothing to do outright with the weapons, drug or the Kll'inghannsu. What he was, was inept. He was a poor manager, and when he didn’t get what he wanted, along with receiving bad advice from tr'Baris, was to push the indigenous people too hard. And when he would just kill them outright for no reason other than his cruelty and stupidity, it's no wonder they started to rebel against him. He was a verrul, but there are other ss'eikea fahd." "I wish to know more about tr'Baris and his level of involvement, but we can save that for hnah. Au said that the governor pushed the natives to rebel and au aided them in that rebellion. When your transporter signal was redirected from the planet's surface and au were beamed aboard, were you visiting the natives and supplying them with weapons?" "That is correct. We had also just intercepted your medical supply transport as well. In an effort to recruit the Kll'inghannsu to fight for me against the Othan fleet, I had been slowly smuggling out any Kll'inghannsu th’ann I could. Au intercepted three of them when au captured me as well. Which I have to say, whoever was behind intercepting my transport, has a very knowledgeable and deft skill with a transporter. " "Au often visited the natives? Au are known to them and trusted by them?" Of course, if they knew that she had been using them for her own personal gain, only to abandon them to Klingon rule, they would have likely killed her rather than talk to her. However, they were ignorant for now and Kavek wondered if they could use that to their advantage. "Ie, I had spent many weeks with them, helping to plan and stage ther rebellion. The weapons were diverted from my Othan weapon supply runs. I know that some of my Othan contacts wanted this production facility to do poorly, so that the Governor would be ousted and their own man put in to place. Just about the same time that they would show that Galae was unable to protect them all the way out here from the Kll'inghannsu, and thus they should be in charge of this sector of space themselves. I know it's very convoluted, too many people trying to run things here themselves,” she tossed her hands up in a bit of frustration. “However, as time went on, and more and more of the natives were being killed in the 'staged' accidents and sabotage that we were ordered to have at the mines, the Dumok’azen people were becoming increasingly angry about this. Their religious leader protested to the Governor, and he had her killed. This is when I came to the realization that I could use them to my advantage, and I began to supply them with more and more of the weapons, and free more of the th’ann. I started to plan the attacks myself upon the processing plants, from the small facility au found on the second moon, and was slowly taking out more and more of the Othan and local militia. As au know, this planet has passed back and forth between the Kll'inghannsu and the Rihannsu for many ages. They defeated us soundly about a hundred years ago, so the natives are na new to Kll'inhannsu rule here, however, once Praxis blew up and the Kll'inghannsu could na afford to be spread out so thinly, we took the planet back. Unfortunately, our people have been historically poor taskmasters here and the natives, when I suggested they work with the Kll’inghannsu th’ann to help free this planet from their overseers, were somewhat enthusiastic about possibly returning to Kll'inhannsu rule. Mainly, as our people and more specifically the Governor, was just slaughtering them and working them into the ground. He nodded knowingly. "The reports we have received said as much, but there was little proof and nothing we could do except investigate. Before we leave here, I am certain that tr'Vatrix will want au to set up a meeting with the natives to explain the situation to them and ensure their cooperation with whatever government is put into place once the current administration is removed. With the governor dead and tr'Baris a conspirator, the entire operation will need to be cleaned from within and replaced with one that can be trusted." Taking additional notes on his ISD, he again reviewed her confessions. "Tell me about the Defloxo. Who supplied it, where did it go, and how did au receive it?" t'Rahks looked at him quizzically, "I presumed I would be executed prior to au returning to the home world, however, if the two of au wish to keep me alive long enough to provide that service to au, I will of course....oblige." t’Rahks looked down at the floor for a siuren in silence, then continued, “ As for the Defloxo, the drug was supplied in shipments with the weapons, being brought in from a manufacturing facility somewhere in the Othan sector. They had planned for it be part of the payment to those moving the weapons for us through Lloann'na and Kll'inghannsu space. But then the amounts in the shipments began to increase, much more than would be needed for a small payoff, and evidently were fully trafficking it to other buyers. However, someone else knew about it, and approached me io day. Tthe man clearly had Tal Shiar training and mannerisms, I’d bet my life upon it, as I’ve come across their type all too often in my service to Galae. He demanded that part of each shipment also be delivered to them, as they had use for it on the homeworld. If I did na comply, then he would see to it that those I cared for back home, would be made to suffer and pay a price for my failure to cooperate." "The Othan sector supplied the weapons and the Defloxo? Very interesting. We believe that some of it was used on one of the Talon's own officers to keep him under control. The Defloxo was payment for what, exactly? Au were already helping to smuggle weapons into the Gamma Quadrant. Why the drugs as well?" “I am ashamed to hear of my part in that. Such chemicals being used against our own people, I do na condone the use of such methods,” raising her eyes back to tr’Kavek, ” As I had said, someone in the Othan sector is behind this, someone, but I had na had the time to glean more than a few names. The problem is, it was long suspected that someone was running a large operation in this sector, nobody could place a finger on exactly who is pulling all the strings, though I have my suspicions. It would be like condemning all of ch’Rihan, for some of the things au Enarrain’s father has been behind. It is the same here, some of those I suspect, have immense power here, and to even make an accusation, if wrong, well, it would na go easy for the accuser to say, that’s the io. Well, I digress. As for why, never anything official of course, but I assume power and latinum to finance their becoming their own power out here in the Outmarches. Many of the weapons were going to our people working in the Gamma Quadrant, and to other buyers, the Defloxo, was the payment for them moving things. However since the drug only requires such small quantities to elicit an effect, it was only moved in small batches. Normally, it was packed along with the power cells for the weapons, and several ship transfers took place, very often, with a fake package would be delivered to us, so as to make tracing of the real shipment more difficult. I had na earned their trust, just my service. Kavek made a note, still frowning, though there was a small glimmer of pity in his eyes as he glanced up to catch her gaze. "With all of the evidence put forth against the Othan fleet, it is na wonder that au felt needed to do what au did. These are heavy charges, though it seems they have taken great pains to make certain their involvement cannot be traced. It will make bringing them to justice that much more difficult." "Indeed, I was still gathering information and names, I had na planned on my hand being forced so early by the Talon's arrival and that of the Lloann'na ship trying to trace the weapons to their source. I had hoped to have strong evidence and a solid trail of names and payments. As it is, now I have accusations, limited evidence and my word against those above me. I do na believe it to be all of the Othan fleet, they can’t all be traitors to the Empire, but a select few individuals that have some sway or hold over it seem to be behind most of this. "And au had na thoughts of bringing others into your plot? Others that would feel the way au did and would agree with your methods? Surely au had thoughts of strengthening your position? Of sharing the burden?" Kavek tilted his head slightly. "Had au provided this information to the proper people, through the proper channels, there are those that would have listened. Perhaps it would have taken some time, but some would have wished to investigate na matter how tenuous the leads or rumors. My father in particular would have been interested." "Sadly, I had been watched, and had my own keepers that were to 'control me' as it was stated to me at one point, by io of the Deihu’s staff. Thus,it was only when the Lloann'na ship showed up and confronted us, that I had the opportunity to lose my handlers. I allowed them to beam off members of the crew to the Lloann’na ship, but I managed to fool the rest of them. I locked my command staff on the Oira, set the ship to self destruct to keep the Lloann'na from capturing it, and then escaped in my small fighter to here. Unfortunately, I had not planned on the Talon following me. "Na," he said, half smiling. "The Talon seems to get in the way of many plans, from what I understand. Honorable of au to keep the Lloann'na from gathering precious evidence against us. Though au know someone within the Othan fleet is responsible, they are na likely to see it that way. Na doubt they have already lumped au in with the rest of our kind and think it is an Imperial conspiracy against them." “As for sending a message, I sent the only io I could think of,” she paused a siuren, “that of destroying the processing plants on Dumok’azen, something so big, that it would force Galae to listen and send reinforcements. Well, that and engaging the Kll’inghannsu fleet. I’d rather see the Kll’inghannsu galae destroy these filthy fvai, before they spread more of their corruption to the home world, and I knew Galae would na let them the Kll’inghannsu remain. I,” she stammered for the first time during the conversation, “I only wish I had the proof I needed against…against tr’Tronius. I know in my heart that he is behind this.” "He will have to answer for that before all of this is through," Kavek promised. He rose from his seat and gestured for her to do the same. "I have no more questions for you at the moment. Perhaps tr'Vatrix might think of other things he will need to know. I need to discuss the details with him before we can continue. I will have someone escort you back to holding in the meanwhile. No doubt we will speak again." Standing as well, she bowed her head and saluted, "Hann'yyo for being civil through this as well. Au are truly a credit to au father. I know of many interrogators, that would na have been so kind, seeing an opportunity to break a veteran officer. Fhaen know, that I do regret my part hrrau all of this. Had I but found a way to extricate myself to get help, I would have. However, I did na, and I should have found a way, any way, to have made it happen, rather than do some of the things I have done. As I did na, I have to accept the consequences of my actions. I do realize, there can be na other sentence than yy'a.” “I accept that this must be the outcome, It is the only outcome that Galae can support and still appear strong, and thus, I'm sure it will have to be some sort of public display, I will na be allowed to quietly do this myself I am sure? As for the natives, I will of course assist as I may before what must be done. They too will accept this, if put into terms of their ritual combat, and that I have lost to either au or tr'Vatrix. We will have to have their representatives there as well to witness, and they will obey whomever it is that does the particular act. If I may make a request, something quick and clean if I may be allowed that much for my efforts to help Galae? I know that as an accused traitor, au have no obligation to grant me any such request.” "I have na wish to give au hope," he replied, not surprised by her request. He would have asked for the same had their situations been reversed. "I do na know what the Daise'Khre'Riov has planned for au. It may be that he has some other use for the information au possess and will be willing to spare your life. Your confessions are of a serious nature, however, and cannot be ignored. Na matter your intentions, au deserve to die." He placed a hand on his chest and bowed slightly. "If it is within my power, I will give au an honorable death." “Hann’yyo Daise’Erei’Riov,” bowing to him yet again. Jastus tr’Guard re-entered the room, and motioned for t’Rahks to follow him back to his quarters, where she was being held until the br’tehh completed its repairs.
  8. How had she come to this? An honored and decorated veteran of the Dominion War and defender of the Empire against the likes of the Kll’inghannsu and Lloan’na, and here she stood about to confess her crimes against the Empire, and face the fate that would be meted out for her transgressions against her own people. A people and an Empire that she dearly loved, and would do nearly anything for; and now, she would yy’a, for doing that very thing. The collar of her tunic was tight against her neck as she swallowed and took a breath. The weight of the heavy uniform anchored her feet in place, almost as much as her conscience had weighed upon her these last months. She had been ordered to begin, but where to begin? There was so much information, so many convoluted plots, so many double-crosses, masses of traitors from all factions of the Empire. Still so few confirmed names, as she had been working to expose as many as she could without exposing herself, when it all began to go awry. Yet in it all, she had committed the greatest crime of all, and though she had reasoned to herself that it was a necessary evil, one that she must do so to gain the attention it would warrant. Doing so, however, would condemn her to the Elements for an eternity for the many deaths she had needlessly caused. Many houses would rightfully curse her name, but she knew in her heart that what she had done, she had done for the survival of the Empire, and she would do it again if given the choice. She felt a drop of perspiration form upon her brow, as it threatened to roll down into her eye, but rather than break vae’drae to wipe it away, she inclined her head in acknowledgement and respect to the others in the room. She found it increasingly hard to maintain her composure as she thought to herself what could have happened. How had the Daise’Khre’Riov come to be here of all places? He could have been killed in the attack, and the Empire could have been shattered by the results. She was absolutely mortified; she could have been responsible for breaking the Empire, rather than trying to save it. She had been shocked by the presence of her former body guard, Jastus tr’Guard, now a full El’Riov, as he came to speak to her in the br’tehh, but to see tr’Vatrix here as well, it crushed her very soul. It pained her to know that two of the people that she most respected in life, would hear what she had done, what she had become and made her wish she had already taken her own life. tr’Vatrix was one of those that knew the truth of the relationship between the command staff of the Khellian, and removing her from a situation that could only turn to an embarrassment for both she, and her former commander as he moved into the political sphere. Her only hesitation in responding to his order to report, was that there was an N’Dak in the room, as it was reported that one of that family was holding the sword over her head as it were. The Daise’Enarrain was well known now throughout the Empire as a war hero, who had an apt crew that obeyed him to the letter of his demands. And through it all, was the near invisible woman that stood at his shoulder as his executive officer, one who had given everything numerous times to save his life, as he had himself done so often done so for her. To an outsider, someone na on the Khellian, he stood out as the singular power of that ship, as he should be, and she saw to it that. He was larger than life to her, and being in the background, allowed her to always watch his back and protect him. However; through the years of serving together, it was duty that kept them apart, duty and honor, knowing that if the crew half believed that there was something between then, that they, or rather ‘he’ in particular as the Daise Enarrain, would lose their respect and loyalty. Upon the Khellian’s return, his family made an announcement of his upcoming bonding to the daughter of another prominent family, a bonding he had once told her about as having been planned, but one he had no real interest in pursuing and had planned to absolve upon their return to ch’Rihan, so that they could be together. As there always were, there had been a few that suspected t’Rahk’s involvement with him. Io such Deihu had pulled her aside, warning her na to interfere, and doing such, could possibly bring about fight and civil war. Feeling broken and alone, she knew that there would always be rumors if she stayed nearby. Rumors that she was his mistress, rumors that she was trying to interfere with his new life, rumors that she was trying to influence him in the Deihu through Galae, and at that siuren, she knew that in her love for him, that she must go away. During this time, ’trVatrix pulled her aside and after talking to her a bit, offered t’Rahks a chance to take a deep cover covert assignment in one of the outer colonies where there had always been some grumbling of dissent and of wanting autonomy. She was too good an officer to waste over unrequited love, and her talents could be used elsewhere to help protect the interests of Galae. Immediately she disappeared from the public scene, being deeply immersed into a training program to assist her with her new role in life, conditioning her to yy’a on command, though, also conditioned na to ever attack certain persons of import, such as the Fvillah or leaders of Galae. . Grateful to the man for understanding her situation and his willingness to help her, Be’Luh t’Rahks, began her new life, as a ‘Disgrunted Galae Officer’ who was overlooked for her merits so that her commander could take all the credit. She had been assigned to a quiet station in the Othan Sector with orders to send reports back to Galae, but if needed by the fleets of the outer reaches, that they may conscript her at any time, as she was just ‘excess’ to Galae. It did na take long for her to be scooped up by the Othan Fleet, hoping to glean from her secrets she might have regarding Galae officers, shipping routes and any other information she could provide. However, and rightfully so, they did na totally trust that she was na a plant from Galae, and per her orders, she was to do whatever was necessary to infiltrate, even if it meant doing something contrary to her Galae oaths, to a point. Lifting her head, she looked directly at tr’Vatrix, “Rekkhai, I submit myself to au for my crimes against the Empire, against Galae and the Rihannsu . I understand as I admit to my transgressions, that the price of my treachery can only be a sentence of yy’a. ” “I will be the one that decides au fate, na au. Continue,” tr’Vatrix ordered. “Ie Rekkhai. I am guilty of the following transgressions: I was involved in the the trafficking of illegal weapons trade between the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants. Weapons produced within Galae or various sectors of the Empire, were being smuggled to the Gamma Quadrant, where members of the Othan faction were planning on setting up and conquering some of the weakened colonies of the Gamma Quadrant, putting in a claim for themselves, and for the Rihannsu. I believe that they were going to use the claim as more reason why they should be allowed to self govern themselves as they are already so far away from the home world. I was involved in the trafficking of illegal drug substances between the Alpha and Gamma Quadrants. In part for payment of smuggling the weapons to the Gamma Quadrant, we were using the drugs as payment for the goods and transport of said weapons through the wormhole. Many corrupt officers had to be paid off to allow the weapons to move, and such small quantities of this designer drug were so valuable, that it financed most of the operation. I was guilty of running illegal drugs for a suspected Tal Shiar agent. More specifically, again, the designer drug known as Defloxo. My contact identified himself as Tal Shiar, and wore their insignia, but anyone could have done that as well. However, as I have had other run ins with them as of late, I do na doubt that is who he worked for. I was told that if I did na cooperate, life would be made difficult for my former, my former.....commander and his family. Out of my respect for him, I could na let this happen, as I swore to serve him always. I am guilty of the death of another suspected Tal Shiar agent, that was snooping around inquiring as to the positions of the Othan Fleet. To prove my loyalty, I was ordered to remove this person so that he did not expose the Othan agenda. I am certain that this was a test of my loyalty, and had I not disposed of the man, I would have been the one disposed of instead. I had noted no less than 3 snipers along the route I had taken, all with their sights on myself. While I do na believe the entire Othan Sector and their fleet are corrupt, I do believe that a select few that are in charge, happen to be and are working for independent rule. I am guilty of the sabotage of the Dumok’azen mining colony, including the deaths of several Rihannsu officers and native colonists. I did my best in my attempts, na to injure any Galae officers, however, some of the prisoners that I had supplied weapons to in exchange for their assistance and freedom, often shot whoever they would first target. I tried to divert away from Galae forces. I did na wish to do so much damage, but it was the only way to send a message that more involvement was needed by Galae forces. I supplied a poison that could possible be used in an assassination plot against the Governor of this colony. I destroyed my own D’Valek-class Swift Warbird of the Othan Fleet, though a Lloann’na vessel managed to save most of the crew, I did manage to yy’a the traitorous oira staff that were overseeing my delivery of the weapons and drugs. In doing so, I was able to lure a Galae D’Deridex ship, the Talon here. I had arranged through an intermediary to put on appearance of attacking the colony, but to be driven off by Othan fleet, to prove Galae was not doing job but that the Othan could defend itself, and this region. However, this is when I committed the worst of my crimes. I could na let Empire split, and rather than set up a fake attack, I dealt with the Kll’inghannsu to bring a full attack force and wipe out the Othan fleet, returning the planet and control of this sector back to them. The Empire might have lost Dumok’azen, and possibly the colonies of the Othan Sector, but the Othan fvai would deserve to die for being the traitors they were. And, if my clues and earlier sabotage worked, Galae would send enough forces to repel the Kll’inghannsu and retain the colony. My crime however was in dealing with them and the loss of Rihannsu lives, ships and equipment. “I stand ready for judgement as a traitor myself,” t’Rahks bowed her head and remained looking at the floor.
  9. "Jastus? Na, au must go, I will na be part of getting au hrrau further issue with au daise," the woman looked out of the shielded doorway into the dimmed corridor of the br'tehh. It was night watch, other th'ann were asleep, but it was something that eluded her still. Too many strings to untangle, there would be na getting out of this mess. Her part in it, undone, only whispers and hints of who and what was manipulating who, and yet to get the firm proof she was sent to get, for one side or another.......or worse as truth was......for another. "Rekkhai, I am rhae my duty shift is all, and I am checking rhae all of our th'ann. I trust au are menkha? As menkha as au may be?" "Jastus, fhaen....au must go, or au may end up unjustly being accused of something just for talking to me, that we both know, au hvae no knowledge or, or any part of." "Rekkhai," tr'Guard stepped closer, "Fhaen....let me help au. Let Tell me what is going on, and I can talk to tr'Valdrin, he has much pull with the Daise'Khre'Riov, if au were but to tell him the truth, we can yet perhaps see au spared." She shook her head in silence, looking down at the ground, "Na Jastus, it's over. Too much has happened for anyone to let me go free. I will meet my end, and be done with it.....now..go, before au crewmates return, and wonder what it is we speak of." Slowly turning, she laid down on the bench, turning her back to tr'Guard, na ready to confide in even he, but only, because she wanted to spare him the embarassment of having known her.
