  5. Rihannsu Intelligence sources investigating this rumor have gathered vriha many authens to aur questions. However, we have decided to keep this information to ourselves, so as na to give away that we may know more than it is thought we know. Au know what I'm saying?
  6. The Away Team is preparing to beam down and attempt to erradicate the Kll'inghannsu problem and liberate our colony serfs. t'Shaeni leads the team, consisting of security, and an engineering expert on the explosive devices.
  7. The Away Team has returned to the ship after being ambushed by a bunch of Kll'inghannsu that were holed up hrrau a cave at the foot of the mountainous region bordering the orchards and farming fields. We plan to regroup, and assault their position within the hour, and end this fiasco.

  9. Folks, Try to check the boards to see if your sims, are running this evening. Right now, Talon is tentatively running, however, I know many of my crew are caught in the blackout areas. I am one of the luck few in the New England area, as the local power grid saw the cascade, and cut the inter-ties, and running on local power generation...so...I have power!!! Though power may start coming up, it may be awhile before everyone has their phonelines/cable internet, lines back as well...be patient. Talon, watch Talon boards for updates before the sim about any cancellation notices. Reaent....Watch for mail from your CO. I know he's NOT in the directly affected area, I have no idea about your XO, but others in your crew may be. He will let you know what's up. Hang in there all. Blu/t'Rex
  10. Jolan Tru crewmates, Due to circumstances beyond our control, and having just talked to the XO by phone (it's her plot), we are postponing tonight's sim. We apologize for the inconvienence, but talk to the Canadian's who's power plant went down....LOL. Ok, don't do that. But, due to the fact that we're going to be short some people, we'd rather wait until next week to continue. See you all next week. t'Rex
  11. Jolan Tru Talon Crew, Ie, I am one of the lucky few in New England, thanking the Elements, that our local power grid saw what was happening, and detached from the main power grid, thus, I have power. HOWEVER, I do know that several of the crew are caught in the blackout areas (CT, NY, MI and Canada are some I know that some of you live in), including our XO, whom I have been unable to reach by phone, cellphone or online, thus, there is a good chance she will not be joining us at this time, pending the ability of the power grid to be re-established. I know that some of you are unable to get this mail at this time, so when you do....just smile, we're thinking of you. ALSO....regular chatrooms are back up at ST.com, however...if you have not been there in your sim name yet, try to do so before the sim, or next sim....keep an eye on email for cancellation notice. You will need to re-register your st.com name to be able to access the simming room. You don't need to make any changes, it just basically needs you to hit the update button. Anyway....keep an eye on the mail for information on tonight's sim.
  12. The RES Talon, having rescued the Khre Riov from the Klingons, heads back to the planet that they had just re-acquired from the Klingons. Knowing the Klingons' sent a distress signal, and that there are reportedly more ships within the quadrant, the Talon is stealthily making it's way back to look for the inhabitants that work the fields there, providing resources for the fleet.
  13. You seem to have left off the B-Type warbird. Starfleet's classification for the Romulan D'deridex-class warbird. Our little fighting ship is a third larger than the Galaxy-class, outflies and outguns them all. In addition, we can cloak!! t'Rex
  14. Ahem....Might I remind you as to your 'Welcome Aboard' letter and the Talon's policy packet. There will be no Tal Shiar crewmen on allowed on the Talon without prior approval. We are strictly Galae. We don't like the Tal Shiar. We may occassionally, have an SGV playing one, but not standard crew. If you chose to be, well...be fairly warned. It is open season on them, and I have a permit. I'd start getting a new bio ready if that is indeed the case. ::evil grin:: t'Rex
  15. MISSION BRIEFING - 030731 The crew has just rescued the Khre'Riov, and destroyed one of the reported 6 or 7 Klingon ships that intelligence had reported may be in the region. The Daise Erei'Riov must decide if they are going to go back and secure the planet they had just liberated, and see if there are any survivors hidden, or if they are going to hide and wait to see if any of the other ships they must still hunt, respond to the now destroyed Klingon ships distress call.
  16. The crew of the Talon has pursued the Klingon ship that had captured t'Rexan when she was left without support on the planet, following t'Ba'tok's injury and subsequent return to the ship. Upon reaching the ship, the crew did engage the Klingon's in battle, being able to find them due to damage to their propulsion units when they were fired upon when they first took t'Rexan. Two boarding parties beamed aboard the Klingon ship, one looking for t'Rexan, the other going for the Klingon crew and command staff. Fighting their way towards their objectives, the teams mowed down most of the Klingon crew. Entering the br'tehh, t'Rexan was found under the body of a dead Klingon, his throat having been ripped out by her teeth, part of his esophasus still caught in her teeth. Barely conscious from the earlier beatings and use of painsticks and angonizers, and her eyes swollen shut from the fvai beating her about the head, she didn't recognize her rescuers. As t'Ksa approached, t'rexan thought it was another of the Klingons. Having na other weapon at hand, and being pinned down beneath the dead Klingon, she used the only thing she had left. Spitting out the bloody pink grizzle stuck in her teeth, she lunged at the shadowy figure approaching, and it into it's leg, just above the top of the boot. t'Ksa, yelling in pain, the new erein decides to take it upon himself, and hits the Khre'Riov to stop her. t'Ksa finally sedates t'Rexan, and they and the other team are beamed back to the ship, just in time for t'Shaeni and the bridge crew to blast the Klingon ship from the sky. We continue from this point......
  17. True but if they were to stay true to the species, you'd have to wear a fake-looking halloween-type mask where your mouth never moves and you walk around like you're in a big rubber suit. :D Perhaps, not totally true. Look at Enterprise...they updated the Andorians, to have moving antennae, which takes away from part of their stated background. The old Andorians, used to annoy people by the why they cocked their heads so that they could hear, part of their "haughty nature" that was perceived. Now, with the moving antennae, it takes that part of the story away. It was also noted long ago, that their color vision, was also based in the antennae. I would think the movement, might impair this to some extent.....
  18. RES Talon Crew Roster Updated: 2003.07.29 Crew Compliment 12 !!! Crew notes: Fhaen aefvahd to our newest crewmember, Erein Re'tore De'nak Nemesis, who will be reporting as a security officer. He will report to the Daise Security officer, Erein Shibae t'Aehjae, who in turn, reports to Daise Erei'Riov t'Shaeni, the Tactical/XO officer. Folks, as noted in the welcome pack, it is custom that the surnames begin with a tr' for males and a t' for females. (Example: t'Rexan, t'Shaeni, t'Oo, t'Ksa, tr'Pexil, t'Aejhae, t'Temarr). If you would be able to adjust your player's name, or screenname (not required), it would be appreciated by all. If you do not chose too, fhaen, do na get upset if I or someone else should use the tr' or t' with your name. Fhaen, remember to post your bios and logs at our new boards at STSF.net. If au need help getting to them, let me know, and we'll get you all squared away! 20. Elements!! If I recall, we did away... I mean, we offloaded most of those we thought were spys. I kept around a few I was certain were spys, so that I could keep an eye rhae them. Then, we figured if we put into ch'Rihan, and took rhae a bunch of new ereins, fresh from Galae Retor, they'd have a menkha chance of na being a spy. However, it seems I may have been mistaken. We may have to 'interrogate' the lot of au......
  21. While responding to and investigating reports of Klingons encroaching upon several of our colony settlements, and slave planets and mining interests, we had come upon several damaged Rihan freighter ships, and small fighters, dead in space. Engineering noted that they were picking up indicatations of Kll'inghannsu transmissions on the surface of the planet below. Our away team went to investigate, and one of the Klingons, while clumsily stumbling, found the team hidding in the brush. A cross fire ensued, and we eradicated the fvai. However, r'Tor was injured and had to be sent back to the ship. In the meanwhile, t'Rex moved ahead to help scout out the colony center, when another Klingon happened upon her hiding place. Though fighting hard, and taking out one of the fvai, he soon had others come to his aid, and the Khre'Riov was captured, and to be taken back to Qo'nos as a prize for the High Council. The newly formed Away team made an attempt to rescue her once they had found out she had been capture, eventually regaining control of the colony's center, but the remaining Kll'inghannsu managed to drag t'Rexan onto their small ship, and take off, quickly leaving the system as the Talon tried to fire and prevent them from doing so......... The crew is deciding whether to remain and clean up the planet, reclaiming it before moving to the next world to reclaim, or...to go after the Klingons and rescue t'Rexan and capture the Fvai that have been helping to destroy Rihan interests in this sector of space. And, there we are for tonight....
  22. WELCOME TO THE RIHANNSU STAR EMPIRE The RES Talon is the only advanced Rihan simulation currently running in the Star Trek Simulation Forum. While we are part of the STSF, we are not part of the United Federation of Planets. For this reason, we do things a little differently than the other advanced simulations. This file will explain exactly what those differences are and will provide you with important information about the Rihan people and culture. A separate file will be sent to you containing the specifics of the ship you will be serving aboard. If, after reading through this information, you have any questions or comments, please send E-mail to your Enarrain ([email protected]) and Daise'Erei'Riov. Please note that all of the information contained within this file is copyrighted. This information may not be reproduced or distributed. 1) SIMULATION POLICIES In order to maintain a quality simulation and an enjoyable atmosphere, it is necessary for all officers to abide by the following simulation policies. Your presence and interaction in the simulation indicates that you have read and understand each of the policies outlined below. If you have any questions about these policies, please send E-Mail to your Enarrain (Captain) and Daise'Erei'Riov (First Officer). POLICY REGARDING ONLINE CONDUCT As a member of the Star Trek Simulation Forum, you have agreed to abide by STSF simulation standards, as well as the Terms of Use of the StarTrek.com website policy. Any violation of these standards during the simulation will be processed accordingly. If you have not already done so, please review the Terms of Use at the bottom of the StarTrek.com website. POLICY REGARDING SHIP'S MAILSTRING Please remember that STSF mailstrings are the property of STSF sims, and should only be used for sim correspondence. Please do not use these mailstrings to send non-sim material, chainmail, spam or transfer them to any mass mailing group. POLICY REGARDING CHARACTER INTERACTION AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Folder posts and E-Mail add greatly to character development within the simulation. However, when engaging in character development, care is required. If your character development will have effects on the characters of other players, you must confer with those players before posting logs and sending E-Mail. A typical example of this would be a post that contains a meeting/discussion between your character and others. Before the message is posted, all the parties involved must approve it. A simple rule is to use common courtesy when dealing with character development. If your character development will have effects on your ability to carry out your post or will effect the whole sim, you will need to confer with both the sim's GM's first for approval. Above all, remember that this is a game. Because someone's character and yours do not get along in the sim, please do not take things to a personal level. There is absolutely nothing wrong with two "characters" arguing, but make sure that each person understands it is a "character" interaction. If the GM's feel the interaction is disrupting the simulation, we will warn you via IM or email. Continued disruption will be dealt with under the Terms of Service. Likewise, if you and another character's player do not get along outside the sim, leave it there. Infighting WILL NOT be tolerated on board this ship. Respect of your fellow Crewmembers ideas and feelings. Again, most of us are not perfect...though many of you strive to be one of the few. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, be it right or wrong. Remember...those that are engineers in the sim, may be a biologist in real life. Do NOT get angry with someone if they happen to get their science wrong. An email with helpful hints may help a person out, however, sending IM's and Emails, berating a person for what they've said, done, written, or logged is not acceptable at any time. If ANYONE has a problem, it IS to be brought to the command staff's attention, and we will meet with you to discuss the problem. Email or IM's yelling, insulting, or being just plain mean to someone, absolutely will not be tolerated!! If you receive this type of correspondence, please bring it to our attention immediately. Please be aware that each of us has "feelings." Out-of-character attacks upon another crewmember will not be tolerated. Note: If we are considered the problem, it should still route to us, and we can meet to discuss. If you are uncomfortable with just us, I'll try to get another host to lend a hand in moderating the discussion. Remember that any information learned from a personal log, is exactly that, personal. If you were not there to see/hear it, then you would have no knowledge of it, until either told or finding out on your own. NPC's -Remember, that a person's npc's are theirs to use. If you need to borrow them, or they were with you when the sim paused...contact the npc's originator to ok any use of that character for logs or sim progression. Boards. To post on the boards, you have to go through another quick registration to gain access, and after about 10 minutes, you will be able to access the boards. Further instructions will be sent on this issue to you. Remember to also send your logs to the crew mailstring. -->RES Talon Briefs/Logs (used for duty logs) -->RES Talon Lounge (used for off duty logs) -->RES Talon Bio/Data (ship's data and crew biographies) POLICY REGARDING SIM PARTICIPATION It is assumed that since we have members of the sim in the room during our allotted sim time, that all are there for the purpose of conducting the sim. When a character however deviates from the plotline or is off doing something other then working with the crew on whatever the current mission plot is, there should be a legitimate reason for doing so. This is something, also, that needs to have approval from the GM's. POLICY REGARDING ATTENDANCE If you are going to be absent we request that you inform your Enarrain and Daise'Erei'Riov at least twenty-four hours prior to the simulation (excluding emergencies of course). The more notice given, the better. This should be done through E-Mail and not IM's. All crew members have a file and all logs and correspondence (i.e., notes that you are missing the sim are kept in those files. Even though it is understandable when you must miss a sim, any greatly repeated absences with notes being sent could still result in removal from the roster. This will be at the discretion of the GM's and will be judged on a case by case basis. There are 3 ways a player is credited with attendance: 1.) Present 2.) Not present with a notice sent prior; 3.) Not present with any notice sent. A thing to note also is that even when a player is in the room, we would like to see at least 12 lines of plot-related chat. Anything below that will be considered as not present on the Attendance records. If you must leave the simulation for an extended period of time (over a month or more) please inform your Enarrain and Daise'Erei'Riov at least one week in advance (Excluding emergencies). You will then be placed on a leave of absence. This leave of absence insures your inclusion in the simulation upon your return. LOA's however are limited to 3 months and only once per year. Any LOA beyond the pre-mentioned limits must be requested in E-Mail, containing an explanation for the extension sent to Both GM's for approval. One thing to keep in mind, upon returning from your LOA, you may not be positioned at the station you were before the LOA. The concern about missing sims, is that it may disrupt a planned storyline, and take away from what actions other of the crew are working on. Try as best as you are able to attend. If you miss four or more consecutive simulations without notifying your Enarrain and Daise'Erei'Riov you will be removed from the ship's roster. We will assume that you are no longer interested in the simulation and have resigned. POLICY REGARDING SPECIAL GUEST VILLAINS/FRIENDS From time to time, special character interaction is required for the simulation. At these times, special guest villains (SGV's) or special guest friends (SGF's) are called for. Since most missions do not require the use of every ship department, it is to our advantage to use "available" officers from the ship to play these special parts. While you are not required to be a SGV/SGF, we appreciate your cooperation when needed. POLICY REGARDING PROMOTIONS Promotions are based on a combination of things ... Attendance, logs and sim participation. Promotions are solely at the discretion of your Enarrain and Daise'Erei'Riov. However, any ranks above Daise'Erei'Riov (Commander) are reserved for GM's. Promotions to Dept. Heads ( i.e. Daise Science, Daise Engineer, etc.) will be based on Attendance, sim participation and the ability to follow and support whatever the ships mission maybe at the time. Also, by taking on the post as head of any dept., you will be expected to keep that dept. busy even if the current plotline does not involve your dept. to any great extent. Failure to maintain these duties properly could result in being asked to step down. POLICY REGARDING COMMON SENSE This is a game, played for enjoyment; it is natural to assume that a variety of circumstances will occur. However, please understand that while this simulation is *Not Real* we still expect an atmosphere of realism. Thus, it is expected that your character will *Not* engage in actions that exceed the bounds of what can be called realistic. There are no "super heroes"; just a team of dedicated officers. Likewise, the ship does not heal itself. Any damage the ship receives must be repaired. Please note, repairs take time, they are not instantaneous. Finally, while 24th century technology is quite advanced, we cannot beam through shields, fire while cloaked, or pass warp ten. Star Trek has its limits, and we work within them. Also, as noted on page 109 of the "The Romulan Way" by Diane Duane, the Rihannsu people, had lost their psitechs during the voyage from Vulcan, and having no completely trained adepts, have lost the art of telepathy. It is noted here that Vulcan's believe that the raw talent exists, but at this time, it remains undeveloped. So in short, we will not have telepathic Rihannsu. However, we will allow on a limited basis, for those that are closely bonded, family, lovers, best friends of years to be able to have a "feel" for the other, to "know" if something were to have happened to them. The RES Talon sim will follow the dictates of Rihannsu life as set forth below in our recommended reading section. We will use the basis of Rihannsu culture as outlined in the TOS/TNG/DS9/Voyager/TAS, those books listed in the above mentioned reading section, as well as information from the FASA and White Unicorn Games role-playing games. We will not be playing along the new premises of the NEMESIS movie. Ch'Havran is still a lush, less developed world that many of us call home, not a barren rock of dilitium full of mutants. 2) RANK STRUCTURE The ranks of the Rihan Star Empire are similar to those found in SpaceFleet. However, we use the Rihan words for these ranks. SpaceFleet Command Galae Command Admiral (Adm) Daise'Khre'Riov (DKhr) Rear Admiral (RAdm) Khre'Riov (Khr) Commodore (Comdr) Daise'Enarrain (DEnar) Captain (Capt) Enarrain (Enar) Commander (Cmdr) Daise'Erei'Riov (DErv) Lt. Cmdr. Senior Grade El'Riov (ElRv) Lt. Commander (LtCmdr) Erei'Riov (Erv) First Lieutenant (FstLt) El'Arrain (ElAn or Eln) Lieutenant (Lt) Arrain (Arn) Lt. Junior Grade (LtJg) Ne'Arrain (NArn) Ensign (Ens) Erein (Ern) All new officers reporting to the RES Talon, will start off with the rank of Erein (Ensign). This holds for those players that have previously left the ship and wish to return. There will be no Tal Shiar agents allowed on the ship as regular crew without prior approval. We are strictly Galae (Fleet), and not a black ops unit. Technically, we don't work and play well together. Please do not make your background claim you are Tal Shiar. 3) COMMUNICATIONS It is often hard to follow the various conversations that are going on during a simulation. To reduce this difficulty, please adhere to the following guidelines for simulation communication. Type Example Face-to-Face (on ship) Fire disruptors! Face-to-face (off ship) @I need your assistance. Non-Face-to-Face +Engineering*+ Status of the AQS? Personal Actions :: Picks up large ceremonial kaleh:: Ship-to-Ship +Com+ Lower your shields or be prepared to be boarded. Non-Sim Related <How many Klingons does it take to screw in a lightbulb?> 4) TERMINOLOGY Because the Rihannsu are not part of the United Federation of Planets it can be expected that the equipment we use, while similar, is not called by the same terms that the United Federation of Planets uses. This guide presents some of the proper terminology to be used during Rihan simulations. FEDERATION / RIHANNSU Computer Etrehh Communicator PC (Personal Communicator) Fighter REF (Rihan Elite Fighter) Holodeck HIC (Holographic Imaging Chamber) PADD ISD (Information Storage Device) Phasers Disruptors or Ie'yakk Ready Room Enarrain's Chambers Red Alert Condition Red Sickbay Medical Shuttle Scout Ship/RAC Stun (NONE - Disruptors don't have a stun setting) Tricorder Multicorder (sometimes abbreviated MC) Warp Core AQS (Artificial Quantum Singularity) Yellow Alert Condition Yellow 5) RECOMMENDED READING: References to any and all information of "Star Trek The Next Generation" and or "Star Trek," the series are registered trademarks of Paramount Pictures. 25. Ack!! So that's what we're supposed to do... I knew it was something like that, just couldnt' remember.... ::snickers:: Seriously, welcome to STSF KanDora. Come see us some time, and we'll tell you about all the advantages of being a Romulan. For a start...no silly Prime Directive to fuss over....like the Federation Captains follow it anyway. Talk about a rule that is broken more often than followed....sheeesh... Real Disruptors....none of those silly phasers that just stun. We shoot for real....If you're going to shoot someone, you might as well do the job right the first time... Khre Riov t'Rex
