  1. "No Room at the Inn" Log entry 12: 25 October, 2154 "Don't ask for a light load, but rather ask for a strong back" -- unknown After acessing the Vulcan Starchart on file, Sergio and the crew find a planet close to Acamar. It was an isolated M-Class planet called.. Khitommer. Sergio was sad to say, unfamiliar with the planet, and never even heard of it, until now. But anyways, the lush environment of Khitommer should be able to sustain the animals and plants the away Team proured for studying. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room in the Challenger's cargobays to hold all of them. Though he felt bad he had to beam thse animals to some unknown planet, what needs to be done, needs to be done. The Challenger simply can't support that many animals in the Cargobay. Sergio worried that the introction of the animals, will interfere with the ecosystem at Khottomer, but Sergio thought, that couldn't be helped. He shouldn't have picked up so many animals. Oh well, Sergio thought to himself., this is a starship, not Noah's Ark, and well, hopefully they'll be happy down there. It's not like Khitommer's a very important planet anyways. Just some isolated like planet in the depths of space. Noone would care, or even know. Sergio ordered his assistants to gather the unwanted animals for transport, so it could just be done lickety split. With the Challenger now on it's way to Khitommer, Sergio looks over the list of the plants and animals to be sent down, forwarded to him, by Ensign Grey. 2. "Clean Sweep" Log entry 11: 24 October 2154 "It is in the shelter of each other that the people live" -- Irish proverb Back in the Science Lab of the Challenger, Sergio finshes up catalouging the items that he and his team brought up from Acamar. Though 70% of the animals and plants collected will end up as dinner, the opurtunity to study the animals are quite good. They seemed similiar enough to the animals from Earth. His assistants were pretty much finished their studies, and the animals were already headed to the chef. Sergio stifled a yawn, and walked out of the lab, passing the tank with the shark, who was happily swimming in its water as he past by. Seiben put the wad of money he got from Ensign Walker in his pocket, and smiled.. served him right for betting against the Commander, he thought to himself. Now, it was about 0100, which means that his shift would begin in 8 hours. So, Sergio went to his quarters to sleep. Stuffing his gut full of food down on the planet, Sergio gulped down some antacid pills to help allieviate his full stomach. Feeling better Sergio grabbed a PADD, fed his cat and composed a message. It sounded like someone shot a cannon. "What was that?" Sergio asked. Not surprisingly, many other members of the away team had asked the same question as Sergio. In the silence of the night, the loud explosion nearly gave the Italian scientist a heart attack. With his heart pumping a mile a minute, Sergio rushed over to where the explosion had tacken place. He was quite surprised to learn that the explosion had came from Ensign Graham, when he set off a small hand grenade to either scare of the boar like creatures of to kill them. Obviouslly, Mr. Gamble needs to reiterate to the crew the basics and necessities of a covert mission. Obvioussly that was one loud blast, and if there were any native villages within a 100 kilometre radius, they most assuredly would have heard it. Oh boy.. Sergio thought.. The last thing the away team needs is a bunch of curious villagers infiltrating the away team's location, and find them here. Right about then, the Commander ordered that all crew had to stay within the camp. He went over to the fruit and say his new assistant Ensign Adams being treated by Dr. Mc Daniels. Apparently, he had eaten some kind of cherry and got food posining from it. When Lt. Gample carried him back to the Away Team, his health looked dire indeed. He couldn't walk, and was complaining of major head pains, but happily, the doctor was able to make him feel better rather quickly. These certainly weren't exactly the signs of an away mission going well. With that, Sergio heard a quiet thump. Looking where it came from, Sergio's heart sank. A Native alien girl was seen with a bunch of security officers, looking a bit worse for wear, but otherwise okay. He heard that she was hiding in a tree, when a security member shot the branch from under her. It was uncertain to Sergio whether it was on purpose or just an accident. Though with the current luck their having Sergio wouldn't be surprised at all of either way it came to be. Sergio took out his scanner and began to scan the alien. She did not say antything to him, as he did so. Though Sergio was no doctor, he was still interested with their new friend. At least he got to see what the natives look like. "I sure hope you were alone" Sergio said to the girl. He left the girl to the care of the doctor and Security and walked back to the baskets with fruit. They were sorted in three piles, "Good", "Maybe" and "No". Sergio took a large apple like fruit from the "Good" pile and bit into the fruit. It was quite juicy and sweet, and would probably make for a wonderful apple pie or cider. He then found a boulder to sit on, still wondering what the team would do next. Sergio then took out his PADD from his pocket, and began to compose the tedious list of things he wanted bring back up to the Challenger. Right bow, Sergio hoped that woud be very soon.
  5. "A New Frontier!" Log entry 08: 27 September, 2154 "What is the good of having a nice house without a decent planet to put it on?" -- Henry David Thoreau The shuttlepod made a smooth touchdown and soon the entry hatch was opened so all of the crew could get out. It was nighttime on the planet, and Sergio could hear the sounds of the night. Crickets chriped on incessantly, welcoming the away team's arrival, but there wasn't really much else to greet them. Which was what the Away Team wanted. On the Challenger, Sergio had ascertained that this planet, called Acamar III had an array of life. Lush forests, lakes, animals as well as intellegent humanoid natives. However, they weren't really too advanced. The race was a fary cry from entering the space race, and probably the technological equivilent of 15th century Earth. Thus, the Commodore and Commander both thought it best to avoid these individuals. Sergio of course couldn't agree more. Sergio instructed his assistant Ensign Grey to collect samples as well as food they could use. "Look for any type of fruit, vegetable, or even small animals that could be used as meat. Also, try to collect some samples of the land so we can analyse it later" he told him. Taking his portable scanner out of his Science kit, Sergio started to explore the area, and entered a small batch of trees, close to the group. Under the white glow of the full moon, Sergio started to record information about the land. The climate of this area was quite pleasant at about 27 degrees Celcius, or 80 degrees Ferenheit. Walking through the small forest, Sergio saw many trees overhead, that held a countless amount of fruit. The fruit was pink, with red polka dots on it and was about the size of one of those huge Asian Apple Pears, they sell in the Chinese markets. Sergio reached up and plucked one off a branch. It felt firm in his hand, like an apple and smelled like strawberries. He collected some more of the fruit into a basket. Sergio felt hungry, but he wasn't stupid, so he refrained from putting one of these fruit into his choppers until Dr. Mc Daniels can ascertain if it is actually edible or not. The last thing Sergio or the crew of the Challenger wants is for him to die by eating a poisonous fruit on an alien planet. Unfortunately, the Challenger had already encountered her first casualty. Ensign Lucky from Engineering bit the bullet when the Suliban Operative broke his neck in his attempt to escape.. or so the post-mortem report claimed. Sergio and the crew bade the poor fellow a heart felt goodbye when they sent his remains off into space in a torpedo. They were all assembled in the torpedo bay, and did their salutes and moments of silence. Though Ensign Lucky was just some faceless member of the crew, the loss was still nonetheless hard to swallow from the crew. Particulary the Engineers. Not wanting to risk the casualty count climbong to two, Sergio picks up the heavy basket now laden with the pink, red polka dotted fruit to where Commander Moore and Dr. Mc Daniels are. He also colected some scientific samples of the area, and took some holo-pics of the area with his Samsung holo-cam. Sergio took a breath of the fresh air.. the Challenger is nice and all, but it was great to be on solid land again. He took a look and surveyed the area.. aside from the chatter of the away team, and the mechanical warbling of the scanners, the area pretty quiet. The crickets still chirped on, and he did hear the occaisonal cry of some bird in the distance. It reminded of being back home on Earth. The area kinda looked like Hawaii to him, with the palm trees and high climate. For the first alien planet the Challenger crew ever set foot on, this was a nice choice. Sergio thought... he could definately get used to this.
  6. "Settling in" Log entry 07: 20 September, 2154 "The willow knows what the storm does not: that the power to endure harm outlives the power to enflict it"- Blood of the Martyr The relief Science Officer took Sergio's place at the Science station on the bridge, as he headed down to his quarters on E-Deck. Sergio enters S-6 and sits down on his chair to feed his kitten. Mittens meowed a 'thank you' and happily went on eating his Fancy Feast. Sergio looked at the three-month-old cat eat. It sure must be nice, to not have a care in the world, like Mittens. Sergio thought to himself. Walking over to his console, Sergio checks in on Ensign Grey's progress in restoring the contaminated protein stores. Apparently, they have appeared to have been tampered with, according to him. The protein stores have been neatly rearranged, causing a failure in the protein resequencer processors, which in turn caused Lt. Images' food poisioning on the Challenger's first warp run. Obviously, it was sabotage, and the suspect was most logically the supposed Suliban Operative that infiltrated Engineering. It was believed the reason why the Challenger had so much trouble attaining warp five. So, why not believe that the same fellow sabotaged the food stores as well? It's only logical. The Suliban are believed to be from the future, and when the small ship dissapeared, he did detect a temporal vortex trail eminating from the vessel just before it had left. But this mission wasn't all that bad. Sergio did get to compare the three stars of Alpha Centauri with Earth's files, fiding it to be basically the same. Sergio had received confirmation of this from Earth, some welcoming news for a change, and now the Challenger is on its way to some new mission, to his assumption. Sergio laid down on his bed and tried to get some sleep. The bed was pretty comfortable in Starfleet standards, but the matress he found was a little too stiff for his liking. Not feeling very tired, he decided to head on up to the messhall for a bite to eat. After waiting about ten minutes for the lift to arrive, Sergio went up to the messhall. The protein stores were still off-line until it can be restored, which probably should be in 24-48 hours. Thus, unfortunately, there wasn't much offered on the menu. Meatloaf, and Mac & Cheese, and some Coke was what he had chosen. Sergio sat by himself by a window watching as the stars streaked by him. Sergio poured his Coke in a glass with some ice and added some of his Jack Daniels Whiskey he brought with him from his quarters. The warmth of the whiskey a welcoming feeling. He felt like he needed the boost after today. It was quite an interesting maiden voyage of the Chellenger to say the least. Eating in silence, Sergio watched as people milled about. There was an annoucement of the latest holo-movie which will be starting in thirty minutes. An action flick, starring that new British actor. Sergio finished his meal, ordered somepopcorn and grabbed a seat in the theatre. Life on the Challenger was now beginning to feel normal for him. The movie soon started, taking Sergio away from the stresses of his job, even if it was just temporary.
  7. "Ready, Willing and Able" Log entry 05: 12 September, 2154 After a few days on board the Challenger, Sergio fast became familiar with the ship from stem to stern. With the aid of his maps and friendly directional arrows. But with the hour of Challenger's launch fast apporaching, a feeling of mixed emotions cross his mind. Sure, there's a part of him that's excited for the launch and the ship's first warpjump, and the whole gala ceremony itself, but also there's a sense of anxiety and nervousness surrounding him. Sergio sits in his quarters, and looks out of the window. He can see one of the support braces of the dry dock that partially blocks his view, but also he can see Mars. The fourth planet in the Solar system. Which makes him fee a bit saddened as well. For Sergio has spent most of his life right here in this system, and desite his tenure on the Victory, he always felt bad for leaving the place he loves so very well. In his quarters, Sergio finds a small crate sent to him by his parents. A "care package" of sorts. Affixed to the crate is a small letter addressed to him: Dear Sergio, We still feel sorry we couldn't make it to see you off, but here are some provisions for you that just may help you along your journey. Do remember to listen to your Commanders and stay safe, so you can come back to us whenever you return. We wish you the best and send you all our love. Keep in touch. Sincerely, Your mom, pop and sister How very heartwarming, Sergio thought to himself. Though he felt bad that his family couldn't make it, due to various reasons, he still felt nice to know that they didn't forget about him. Wondering what they sent him, Sergio opens the crate: C O N T E N T S : - civilian clothes (shirts, pants, etc) , made of silk, cashmere, cotton, etc - Six (6) bottles of red wine - Six (6) bottles white wine - One (1) case of twenty-four (24) Guinness - Six (6) Authentic Guinness mugs - Set of five (5) crystal wine glasses - One (1) soccerball, one (1) tennis raquet, six (6) tennis balls, one (1) rugby ball - Two (2) pairs Doc Martan dress shoes - Silk blankets, pillows, and sheets - One (1) silk robe - Space sickness pills - Calcium supplement pills - General pills (containing Vitamins C, D E, Iron, Zinc, Protein..) - One (1) box of two dozen (24) donuts - sleepware, made of cashmere - Fifteen (15) bags of potato chips, one box containing sixty-four (64) chocolate bars of various kinds, ten (10) boxes cookies - One (1) gourmet cook book - One (1) Music book for violin - One (1) 24-karat Men's bracelet "Aww, wow" Sergio said to himself. Okay, so these items won't help him much whilst on duty, but off-duty they should go to very good use. Sergio must remember to thank them once he gets the chance. With the lauching ceremony just around the corner, Sergio uses the time to take a shower and get ready. As a milestone event, such as this one, one can bet their house that many of the Space Navy's and Sol systems best will be in attendance tonight. Thirty minutes later, Sergio adjusts his uniform and spritzes himself with his CK colonge, and looks at his reflection in the mirror. Sergio looked very handsome in his uniform, and no matter how many ties he looked at himself in it, a feeling of pride always befell on him. Only a select few get to don this uniform, and even fewer get to participate in an event such as today. Today, he's just some rich playboy from Monte Carlo, but tommorow he's Chief Science Officer of an NX-Class vessel. That keeps sounding better every time he hears it. Adjusting his collar one last time, the communications console beeps at him as he was about to step out. "ahh, who is that?" says Sergio before going to answer the unit. "Hello?" Sergio says. The image of Segio's pal Eduardo appears on the screen. "Hey Eduardo. Where are you?" asked Sergio. "I'm at Mars Station" Eduardo replies. "We're all already here. We were wondering if you were free for one last night at the pub" Sergio nods. "That soundsgreat, but I cannot drink too much, I do have to report for duty sober once the Challenger is christened" he replies. "Ahh, don't worry. You can just order something like an Amstel Light, or something like that. We mainly wanna have one last time to get together ya know, before the ceremony" Eduardo says. "Ahh, sounds good to me. Still have a few hours before I have to report back anyways. You're on" Sergio said. Sergio hangs up and a few mnutes later, is beamed down to the Mars Station, even though Sergio is still pretty uncomfortable with transporters. There have been stories where people's DNAs have been spliced together in those things, which is probably why they are primarily used for cargo only. But fortunately for Sergio, he was rematerialised fully intact and in one piece. At the station pub, Sergio met up with his friends Eduardo, Juan, Nigel, Pierre and the three girls he met that other day before he left Monte Carlo. Ruby ran up to Sergio and wrapped him in her arms. "Hello Ruby. Good to see you again, likewise to the rest of you" He said as he greeted everyone individually. "Wow, Sergio. You look very handsome in the uniform" Ruby told him. Sergio thanked Ruby and said she looked great in her outfit, a red Giovanni evening dress, with matching red Pradas. With the seven of them together, Eduardo orders some pitchers of Amstel light, a beer with a very low alcohol level. But Sergio did have with him his anti-hangover pills just in case, but this being such a light beer, he probably won't need it. "So, do you have butterflies in your stomach yet there Sergio" said Nigel, Sergio's friend from London. "Yeah, man. I feel like there's a zoo of butterflies in here. My life is totally gonna change in four hours" he replies. Sergio's friends start to chuckle. "Ahh, so this isman" says Eduardo. Sergio nods solemly. Drinking in silence with some nuts and pretzels Sergio hopes he'll do well off on the Challenger. With Ruby at his side, moments like these are definate things he'll surely miss. They spend the hour asking what Sergio's role is, where his quarters is and such. "Yeah, one good thing about this assignment is that I have my quarters all to myself. Well, me and my cat. It's pretty big too, eh?" Sergio grins. "Sweet" Ruby says and hands him a slip of paper. "Here is how to keep in touch with me, in case you get lonely" Ruby says. Sergio smiles graciously. "Thanks. I definately will keep in touch" he replies. "I have all your numbers right?" asks Sergio to the rest, who all nod 'yes'. "Great. I'll keep in touch" he says. As tome passes by, the bar remmains to be pretty crowded. Several of Sergio's crewmates from the Challenger were also here. Finishing the pitchersm nuts and pretzels, Sergio gets up and looks at his watch. "Looks like I have to report back to the Challenger for tthe ceremony" Sergio said. I'll see you all there, eh?" he says. "Yeah, sure. We've gotta get to the VIP entrance as well" says Eduardo. "We'll see you there" Just then, Eduardo and the others hand Sergio various gifts. "These are from us to you" they say. "Thanks, guys. You're the best" Sergio says. Reaching into his pack, Sergio hands his friends some gifts in turn. "I bought these back in Monte Carlo before I left. May as well give them to you now. I probably won't get the chance at the ceremony" The gifts ranged from bottles of wine, a watch and colonge for the men, and perfume, watch and a $10000 shopping card at Giovanni's for the ladies. "Cool, thanks man" they replied in various versions. Receiving handshakes from the uys and kisses from the ladies, Sergio goes along is merry way to the shuttlebay, with most of the other Challenger crew. When the shuttle arrives back to the Challenger, Sergio re-enters his quarters, which is by now filled with gifts from his family and friends. From his friends Sergio got: - One (1) picture of Sergio's girlfriend Ruby + frame - One (1) picture of Sergio & pals + frame - One (1) picture of Sergio & family + frame - One (1) Italian soccer jersey (#10) - One (1) globe of Earth - One (1) small cactus plant - One (1) banzai tree - Two (2) pair Dr. Scholl's foot support gel packs - One (1) pair Oakley sunglasses - One (1) set of holo-video of Earth and it's major attractions Re-adjusting his uniform and making sure he's 100% sober, Sergio once again exits his quarters, and proceeds to the place where thr ceremony will take place. He still feels a mixture of emotions -- excitement, nervousness, anxiety, but with his family and friends behind him, he's ready to answer the call of Starfllet and the unknown. And though it'll be a very long time before he sees Earth again, he's glad to know that there are such good friends and family waiting for him when he returns.
  8. "A Whole New World" Log entry 04: 08 September 2154 The shrill beeping of Sergio's alarm clock loudy awoke him from his drunken slumber. Sergio groaned and rolled out of bed, and trudged over to his dresser. He then popped two of the hang over pills Eduardo gave him yesterday downing it with water. It was 0900 and the transport to pick him up was due to arrive at 1000. One hour until the transport shuttle would pick him up and take him to the Challenger. Sergio set the alarm clock 30 minutes earlier, to have time to eat his breakfast and get ready. He spent twenty minutes brushing his teeth, shaving and showering, ten minutes to dress up and fix his hair. The automated kitchen system was now at work making Sergio his breakfast. French style crépes, a croissant and a glass of cappachino was the last meal he was going to enjoy on Earth. No sooner had Sergio finished his meal, the doorbell anounced the arrival of a new visitor. Sergio walked over and looked at the small LCD panel at his kitchen wall. It was the two Starfleet crewmen who were supposed to pick him up. Wow, was it 10:00 already? Sergio thought to himself. Yup. It most certainly was. Sergio thought after looking at a clock on his wall. Sergio opened the door, and helped the crewmen load his belongings onto the shuttle. With expert timing on their part, the House keeping service arrived soon after. Sergio hands one of the maids the keys, and looks at his home and city one last time. Once Sergio is settled in, the transport lifts off to take Sergio to his new home. Monte Carlo gets smaller and smaller as Sergio leans forward to get one last look of his city. "Well, goodbye Monte Carlo" he mutters before leaning back into his seat. To pass the time, Sergio takes out his portable LG Holo-Vision unit and watches some improvised in-flight holo-movies. About half way into the second movie, Sergio feels the transport slow down its engines. "Hey, why are we slowing down?" Sergio asked. "We approaching Mars, and the Challenger." the pilot said. "We should be docking in a few minutes, but do you want to take a look at the Challenger first?" the pilot asked. Sergio nodded. "Sure" As the transport got closer to the Challenger, the pilot made a slow bank along side the ship so Sergio could get a good look. It was unlike anything Sergio ever seen in his life. Sitting there in the drycock of the shipyard the new NX-Class vessel was a truly awe inspiring sight. It was a floating icon of just what the human spirit can achieve when it unites together for a worthwhile cause. From the confines of the tiny transport unit, the Challenger looked immense. "Beautiful, isn't she?" the pilot asked breaking the silence. "Yes, truly" replied Sergio. "Hard to believe it was built in only three months. Wow, I feel lucky to call such a nice ship my home" The transport slowly cruises alongside the Challenger, giving Giovanni a chance to look at every inch of the Challenger's exterior. The transport vessel docks with the Challenger and the co-pilot opens the hatch leading into the ship. Like a hotel bell-boy, the co-pilot wheels Sergio's luggage on a hover cart and takes it over to his quarters. Sergio steps out of the transport vessel and for the first time steps into the Challenger. Immediately, he is intercepted by two huge security guards who look as if they should be playing runningbacks for the Washnigton Red Skins. "Identification, please" one of them say. Immediately, Sergio produces his ID. "Lt. Giovanni, Chief Science Officer?" he asks. Sergio nods. "Okay. You're quarters are located at S-6, on E-Deck. Take this map of the ship and follow the arrows" the guard says handing him a map containing the ship's schematics on a PADD. (Or it's 22nd century equivilent). Inside the Challenger, Sergio can already see that the ship is already bustling with activity. There are officers out and bout on the decks, testing stuff out, or just like him on their way to different parts of the ship. Sergio waited a few minutes for the lift to arrive, and went down to his quarters on E-Deck. Finding S-6 a few minutes later, Sergio enters what will serve as his new home. It was certainly better than he expected, and pretty big as well. well at least in Starfleet standards. Plus, he wouldn't even have to share it with anybody either. One of the perks of being a Department Chief and Senior Officer. Inside, he finds the chest containing his uniform and data block with more information. It was just his size, Sergio thinks, and closes the chest back up again. Sergio smiles and lets Mittens out his carrier. Mittens meows and snuggles against Sergio's legs. He sets up a place for him to stay, putting the kitten's litterbox, cat bed and other things in the corner of the room.. "You must be hungry, eh little buddy?" Sergio asks. Mittens only meows in response. "I'll take that as a 'yes'" Sergio replies and pours some Cat Chow and water into Mittens' dishes. Sergio strokes the little cat and leaves him to his late lunch. Sergio leaves Mittens in peace and heads back to the lift. This time he heads back up to the bridge. As Chief Science Officer, Sergio is going to spending alot of time on the bridge. It's only logical he should familiarise himself with the bridge as well. Only a few officers are here with him. "Bonjourno!" Sergio says politely, as he waves to the Officer sitting at the Tactical console to the right, who sounds like he's either British or Scottish. Sergio couldn't really tell accents apart that much. Anyways, Sergio walks past the Commications station, and sits down on the leather seat of his Science Station. He is flanked by several flat screen monitors and keyboards with every bit of Scientific information stored in it's harddrive. Sergio leans back in his chair and looks out at the viewscreen. He definately could get used to this. He thinks to himself.
  9. You're getting your information from a bloddy cereal box? Starfleet was mentioned numerous times on Enterprise, so it is logical it does exist. The United Federation of Planets was founded in 2161 after the Earth/Romulan war, and as Tach said Starfleet has been in existamce for quite awhile now.
  10. "One Last Hurrah, Part II" Log entry 03: 07 September, 2154 Night falls once again over Monte Carlo, and over head a large full moon helps light the city, in addition with it's millions of artificial lighting. Though most cities would shut down and signifigantly diminish in activity in the night time, Monte Carlo wasn't one of them, and in most people's opinions, the action and parties in Monte Carlo only seem to get better in the night. Fully dressed for his one last taste of freedom, Sergio once again leaves his house. According to the comminiqué he got yesterday, the transport shuttle would pick him up tommorow morning at 1000. Having already packed up his belongings he intends to bring to the Challenger, Sergio is ready to go to his new home aboard the Challenger. Well, almost ready. After tommorow Sergio will be a Starfleet Officer once again. But this time, he'll have duties and responsibilities on the Challenger unlike anything he's ever experienced before. As the Chief Science Officer on an NX-Class, the Pride of Starfleet, alot of expectations and responsibility will be placed on his broad, young shoulders. He must act as a role model to his sub-ordanates and fellow officers alike, and try to perform to the best of his ability, to appease his Commanding Officers, and superiors. This is a milestone moment in his career, and he certainly didn't want to blow it. But before he becomes just another good obedient little officer in the Fleet, a little bit of fun is in order. Driving to the city's main square, Sergio meets up with his friends Eduardo and Juan. With them are three stuningly beautiful women dressed in some beautiful silk evening dresses. From his father's company, he observes. "Hey, Sergio. I want you to meet some friends of mine" says Eduardo. "This, pretty little blonde is Tiffany, over here is Mandi and that is Ruby" Sergio nodded to each and gave all a small kiss on the hand. "Enchanté" he replies in French. They simply smile, and say that it is nice to meet him. Eduardo leans over to Sergio. "So, what do you think of them?" he asks. "They're very nice, and very gorgeous, but are they..?" Sergio trails off. "Oh no! No! They're just really good friends of mine" Eduardo imediately replies, knowing what his friend is thinking. Sergio nods in relief. "I see, great. well shall we?" replies he. Eduardo smiles and claps Sergio on the back. "Yes, let's. We shant keep the girls waiting" said Eduardo. Sergio smiles and walks back to the girls and Juan. Ruby, a slim and slender brunette walks over to Sergio wrapping her arms around him. "So, you're the Starfleet Officer we've heard so much about, eh?" she asks. "Yes, I most certainly am" he replies. Still clinging onto him, Ruby smiles. In addition to a lovely body, she had an equally lovely smile and beautful white teeth. The lady takes great care of herself, and Sergio liked that. "Well, I always liked men in uniform. especially if that man is the future heir of my favourite apparel company" The six of them pile into a limosine and head off into town. "So, what's the plan for tonight?" asks Sergio. "First we're going to go to the Reagal Casino, then go to the Chez Pierre for a nice candlelight dinner" replies Juan. Gambling and five-star gourmet dining. Two luxuries he probably won't get to enjoy on the Challenger. Though Sergio doesn't know who the head chef of the Challenger is, there's a very good chance that fillet mignon and escargot won't be on the menu. A few minutes later, the limo pulled up to the front entrance of the Regal. Though it just opened a few months ago, the Reagal Casino already was one of Monte Carlo's most popular casinos. Upon entering the building, they are greeted by loud machines, the clatter of coins and the shouts of people winning or losing their fortunes away. But that's the name of the game with casinos, and as long as you don't go over your head, you'll be alright. The first thing they did was walk over to the blackjack table. Blackjack was probably Sergio's favourite game. It's a game of numbers, and mathmatics as well as a little bit of luck. Sergio settled into his seat and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea. Thirty minutes into the game, he had already amassed a large amount of chips. "21! Blackjack!" the dealer exclaimed. Cheers errupted from the table as Sergio's friends and onlookers congratulated him on a good hand, and leading the table quite significantly in overall winnings. On his third Iced Tea, Sergio let the moment absorb into his head. "You're doing great buddy, a regular natural" Eduardo said. Sergio smiled smugly. "It's all in the luck of the cards, old man" Sergio said. They continued to play for another two hours, before moving on to another table. They performed respectiably in craps and poker, and fairly well at roulette. But for that time being he forgot all about Starfleet, and it wasn't just due to all the Long Island Iced Teas and pina coladas either. Ruby leaned affentionally on Sergio's shoulder and watched on happillly as the roullete ball landed on his number. Sergio sipped on his strawberry pina colada, and cheered. "Oh yeah, baby!. That's the way to do it" he said. Ruby squealed in delight, and nuzzled against Sergio. "Oh, baby you're killing 'em" The night rolled on until they decided to leave for dinner. All did quite well in the casino, though they were left a little bit tipsy from the drinks. They piled into their limo and headed to the trendy Chez Pierre for dinner. "Oh, that was great wasn't it.. we won so much money.. it's beatiful" Juan said looking at his bars of latinum. Sergio chuckled. "Got that right" he said patting is leather briefcase contaning his winnings. Soon, the big limo pulled in frontof Chez Pierre, one of the most exclusive restaurants in the city. "Alright, who's hungry?" Eduardo asked. "This is your last chance at some gourmet grub, Sergio... so eat, drink and be merry, as they say" Even though it was about midnight now, the restuarant, like the casino was crowded. They were led to a booth overlooking the marina. Candles and an ice box with three bottles of Dom Perignon 2123 vintage champange awaited them. Sergio, Eduardo and Juan sat beside each other across from Ruby, Mandi and Tiffany. Under the table, Rudy affectionatly runs her foot on Sergio's leg. Not that he minds of course. Sergio flashes her an enchanting smile. Their dinner arrives minutes later, and they open the bottles of champagne. They toast Sergio on his journey and wish hm good luck, and dig in on the meals. Sergio will probably never taste Beef Wellingon so tender again, so he savours every last bite. Music is played in the bar, as many of Sergio's pals arrived to wish him luck. "To our good buddy Sergio, good luck and come back safe to us, eh? Cheers!" a friend says. They clink their glasses and cheer, as the band plays on in the grand ballroom of Chez Pierre. Sergio spends the night dancing and partying with his friends and Ruby. Cheering , dancing and having an all-around great time. But pretty soon, the ballroom is littered with bottles and cups. They dance the night away until 0200, when most were too drunk to even stand up. Sergio and the others are helped into the limo which speeds back to Sergio's home. Sergio and his pals stick their heads out ofthe limo's sunroof. "Whoo-hoo! Goodbye Monte Carlo! I'll miss you!" Sergio yells out. The wind rustled past his hair, and made him feel a bit better. Then he sat back down on his seat. "Man, I'm gonna be feeling this tommorow. I hope I'll be okay for orientation on the Challenger" Sergio stated. His friends nodded, and Eduardo fished out a small paper bag from one of the cup holders in the limo. "Take this" Eduardo said. "It's anti-hangover pills, we figured you'd get plastered so we went to the pharmacy and bought these for you. Top rate stuff this is. Heh, your captain won't even know you spend half the night drunk when you meet him" Sergio snickers. "Super, I do want to get off on the right foot with him. I hear both Moose and Moore are tough, gritty individuals. I certainly don't wish for them to first see me looking like I just came from the gutter" he said. "I Hear you. Don't worry, take two of these in the morining, after a nice hot shower and you'll look and feel just fine" Eduardo replies. "If not, you can always return it for a refund" "Thanks guys, you're the best" Sergio says. "ahh, don't worry about it" is Juan's reply. At 0230 the limo drops Sergio off at his house. "Hey, good bye Sergio. We'll see you Sunday at the christening ceremony. But until then, stay safe and good luck" they shake hands and kiss cheeks as per European courtesy customs. "Thanks guys, see you Sunday" Sergio said. The transport is due to pick him up at 1000. Sergio sets the alarm for 0930, which'll give him long enough to shower, shave get dressed and grab a quick breakfast. It's so good to be a man, ale to get ready in five or ten minutes, unlike women, who take an absolute eternity to dress up and get ready. Sergio thought to himself. Sergio was absolutely exhausted, and didn't even change out his clothes. Instead he packs his pyjamas into his bag with the rest of his clothes, and plops down on the bed. It doesn't take him long before he's out cold for the night, ready for what tommorow has in store for him.
  11. "One last hurrah, Part. I" Log entry 02: 07 September, 2154 The sound of a loud annoying chrip stirred Giovani out of his drunken slumber. He mumbles and stirs in his bed, and hit the button of his desktop communications console next to his bed. Sergio rubs his eyes, still feeling groggy from sleep. The rays of the sun bask him through his glass French patio doors leading to his verandah in his master bedroom. Yawning, Sergio sits up and opens the new file sent to him. It was from the Quartermaster of the Challenger. Interesting thought Sergio. He also noted the time -- 0930. Wow, it is that late already? Sergio thought to himself. Sergio clicked on the message opening it. Feeling hungover from last night, Sergio was tired, but he became fully aawake upoon reading the message. Instead of reporting to the Challenger on the 12th of September, he is actually now supposed to report for duty on the 8th. "That's tommorow! Oh no!" Sergio said to himself. There were so many things left unfinished. Such as, who will look after his house whilst he is gone? His shuttles, his plants? "How am I going to find someone trustworthy in one day?" he says. Sergio gave the Quartermaster credit. It was sent yesterday, but Sergio was too drunk to read it, or even notice it when he went to bed last night. But now, Sergio must tie up his loose ends by today. Getting out of bed, Sergio performs his usual morning routine, and sat at the communicator to call around. Sergio spent the next hour calling his friends. He asked them if they wouldn't mind looking after his house. But the thing is that he has to leave tommorow, and won't be back for proobably several years. "Tommrow?! Several years?! I can't look after your place for so long, in such short notice" was most of their replies. And the rest.. well.. he didn't qute trust the rest. True, he was going to be away from the place for a long, long time, but when and if he comes back, god forbid, he'd really like to have his house to come back to in one piece. Sergio's heard the stories of house sittings gone bad. Like that one story of a house in Madrid. After some huge party the tenannt had, the place was so filthy, there were even stains on the ceiling! So instead of risking a repeat performance of that incident in his humble abode, Sergio opted to hire a professional house sitting service. Despite the short notice, one accepted the job, and agreed to start house sitting tommorow. It wasn't cheap, but at least the place would be nice and clean, and most importantly in one piece when he returns. Sergio also thought of the aspect of renting it out, but thought better of it. He liked his house alot, and didn't like the idea of someone living in it, changing things around without him knowing. He liked the lace just the way it is. After that was done, Sergio left his house and drove into the city. It was a beautiful warm day at about 30 degrees Celcius, and at 1PM, the place was bustling with life. Sergio pulled into a small cafe, for a light lunch with his friends. He told them of his change of plans, leaving tommorow instead of today. "Tommorow? Ah man. We've really got to do something to see you off then, eh?" said Eduardo. Sergio smiled and chuckled. "Perhaps we do, but remember I do have to be sober for when I apply for duty next day" he replied. "Hey, don't worry Sergio. You'll make it on time" Though Sergio did want to be sober and feeling 100% for tommorow, the idea of one last hurrah was appealing. He certaiinly won't see his friends in years. "Of course I'm in" Sergio replied without a moments hesitation. One last hurrah, his last act of total freedom, and a chance to relac and have fun before his long and hard journey to the unknown ahead of him. There were no people better to have this last ride of freedom with than his friends. And no better place to have it than Monte Carlo. TO BE CONTINUED...
  12. "A Whole New Beginning" Log entry 01: 05 September, 2154 Over the horizon, the sun began to set over the waters of the Riviera just off the coast of Monte Carlo, Monaco. A brilliant spectrum of colours -- orange, red and gold glistened off the waters of the Mediterranean. The tempurature was still warm, but there was a cool refreshing breeze coming from the west. One of the many ships in the harbour was a sleek, white 50 foot hydro yacht. Travelling at a speed of 30 knots, the boat skims gracefully over the crystal clear waters. At her helm is Lieutenant Sergio Giovanni IV. Alone with his thoughts Giovanni took in the splendour of the region Having just been beamed back to Earth from the Victory a few hours ago, Giovanni had a whole week to relax and take some time off before he takes on a whole new chapter in his life. Though a space-faring Starfleet Officer for six years now, Giovanni never had the oppurtunity for deep-space travel. His former ship, the old Warp 2 UES Victory (CH-32) was restricted to support missions throughout Sol and surrounding sectors, because of her age and speed. It never really offered much in the oppurunity of exploring the unknown. That though is going to change, come next week. Walking up beside him is Giovanni's good friends Eduardo, and Juan. "So, you're off to the 'wild blue yonder' as the old saying goes" said Juan. Sergio smiled and nods. "Yeah, and this time it appears that I won't be coming back for a long time" replied Sergio. "Heh, yeah look at the Entreprise. They haven't been back to Earth in like three years. But, I think they're missing.. maybe that's not a good sign" replied a semi-drunk Eduardo. Sergio guzzled down his Heineken beer and took out a fresh one from the icebox. "Nope, don't jinx me, man" Sergio said sarcastically. Eduardo and the others chuckled. By now, the sun went down completely and the only source of light came from their boat and the twinkling and glittering of Monte Carlo to the west of them. "But, we are gonna miss having you around" Sergio placed the boat on 'Auto Pilot', and walked over to a couch on the stern. The others came to join him. "Yes, I most certainly am going to miss this place. The casinos, the clubs, the girls. He he he" the got a good laugh about that. "But, I'm also gonna miss your ugly mugs" replied Sergio. They looked up at the stars high above him. They were far enough away from the lights of Monte Carlo to see the stars above them clearly. "So, do you think you'll adjust to life on a ship like the Challenger? Travelling all that way so far into space?" replied Juan. "Oh yeah, I'm sure I will. I have a feeling I'll be pretty busy there. Much more so than on the Victory. Heck, the Victory seems like a little galactic cruise compared to this assignment" said Sergio. "But don't worry too much about me" Sergio added. "I've lived in worse conditions, like that jungle camping course I took in Costa Rica" Sergio was a tough individual and can cope with pretty much anything life throws his way. On their third bottle of beer, the trio decided venture down inside the cruiser where it was warmer. The night grew cooler, over a half hour of sitting outside. At the bar, below deck, Sergio and his friends ate what probably would be their last dinner in years. Just then, the communications console ringed to life. Answering it, Sergio was somewhat surprised to see the image of his father on the other end. "Hello, son. I thought I'd find you here" replied the elder Giovanni. At 51 years of age, Sergio Giovanni III didn't look a day over 40. He still had his head of brown hair and had no wrinkles on his 5'10" body. Calling from his company's headquarters in Milan, the elder Giovanni was dressed in his usual Georgio Armani tux. Inheriting the multi-billion dollar conglomerate fromhis father before him, Giovanni III continues to rack in big profits year after year. One day the company will be all his, but until that day, space exploration, and his duty to Srarfleet takes first stage. The younger Sergeio nodded and smiled at the screen. "Ah hello papa. How's Milan?" he asked. "Good, good" Replied his father. "So, this is always what you wanted isn't it?" he asked. "Yes, father. It is" replied Sergio. "It's what I wanted all my life" Sergio's father nodded. "Well, I wanted to call to wish you good luck. Sadly, I'll be at the Fashion Show in New Berlin to launch the Fall Season, but I hope the best of luck and sucess on your new ship. Serve your Captain well and serve with honour. I will miss you" The younger Sergio nodded. "As will I, so I take it you won't be attending the christening of the Challenger either?" The elder Giovanni shook his head. "Sadly not. I leave for New Berlin tonight, and won't return for two weeks" Sergio should've known. It was a usual response from his father. Too busy to see him that often, and never really there for his momentus milestone occaisons. It happens. "Very well then. Have a good time. This is goodbye then. I shall miss you, father" Sergio replied. "Yes, same here. Stay safe, son" the elder Giovanni said and the cutt the comm. "Sigh, oh well" Sergio said. He was used to it, but still it would've been nice to have his dear old pop there to see him off. There was also an addendum to the comm, letting him know that one of the company's private shuttles will take him to Mars at his convenience. Leave it to pop to send him off in style, Sergio thinks to himself. "Ahh, too bad about your pop. We'll try to be there anyway. What about your mom and sister?" asked Eduardo. "Mom's on vacation in Avalon-4, and my sister can't get off work at the restaurant" Eduardo and Juan nod. "Aww, too bad" is all they can muster. Sergio pours himself a glass of brandy and takes a gulp. "Yeah, too bad what can you do? Thanks for planning to come out" "Eh, no problem" They say. Looking at the chrono, they see that it is starting to get late, and the boat starting to run low on fuel. Sergio makes a course change back to the harbour. Once they arrive, Sergio bids a farewell to his friends and drives back to his home. Even though he doesn't have to leave in a week, Sergio already plans out what to bring on board to the Challenger. Sergio's three-month-old kitten Mittens meowed below him. He wondered what he'll do about him. None of his friends were willing to baby sit him, and quite frankly Sergio liked the little cat and wanted to take it with him. Captain Archer has Porthos, so Mittens will be in a dintinguished line of pets in space. Only one week left on Earth and the area he knows so well. Sergio walks outside of his beach side home and out at the twinkling lights of the city. At 7000 square feet, and a property spanning 5 acres, this palatial mansion will be a stark contrast to his future quartes onboard the Challenger. Though as Chief Science Officer, and a comissioned senior officer, he will have it better off than most officers. Sergio should be used to it, his quarters on the Victory was about the size of his kitchen, and he had to share it for five years. Sergio should count himself lucky he doesn't have to do that here. Little Mittens purrs and rubs himself on his leg prompting him to pick the cat up. Sergio rubbed its little head, and decided to get things over with. Sitting down at his console, Sergio writes his list of what he'll bring. TO: Comdr. Fitzgerald Moose, Cdr Elias Moore, Chief of Security for Challenger. FROM: Lt. 13. I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is official. As the site (this site) says, STSF does work hand in hand with Paramount to provide a good simming experience. But since we haven't simmed in startrek.com chatrooms since October, I'm not sure if that is the case. But, STSF is in association with STSF, and startrek.com still does link to here, so I do believe that STSF is the official sim/RPG site of startrek.com
  14. I would like to have "Inoltrare, al futuro!" please. Thanks.
