  1. The compound had fallen significantly more silent as the various members of the away team were going about their business. Medical had just finished cataloging the seen dead Starfleet members and tending to the injured as Midshipman Sydney Richardson walked slowly down the hall looking curiously at the construction. She stopped at a door that seemed curiously ajar. Looking back to where Dr. Levy was working on an injured Marine, she remembered her Chief's words on not splitting up. Then, after opening the sliding door a little more, she shone her flashlight around the room. Dead lay scattered around, but then her light stopped on a pair of eyes. Sydney screamed. JP Marks had just finished talking with Ensign JoNs when he heard a loud scream from a darkened hall. Raising his rifle quickly, he signaled for two guards to follow as he rushed down towards the yell. Flipping the light on, he saw Sydney standing dumbfounded at an open door. "Are you okay?" JP asked. Eyes wide, Sydney continued looking into the room, wondering where the eyes had gone. "There's someone in there," she whispered. "Someone moving. Someone, something, I don't know I..." One of the guards with JP brushed up against her trying to see in the room, causing Sydney to shriek again. JP quickly raised his rifle and saw the pile of dead Starfleet in the dark room. His face hardened to stone as he looked at the massacred bodies. "My god... Crewman, stay calm. I need you to tell me where you saw the movement go." Sydney simply pointed into the room. "I only saw the eyes for a moment. I thought it was a dead face, and then they blinked, and then they moved, and and..." she clutched her kit and tried taking deep breaths in and out, to calm herself. She moved away from the door. "They might be injured. There was blood." Her eyes widened again. "But perhaps it wasn't their blood." JP continued the scan the room with his rifle. "Whoever it is might be responsible for these bodies. I think the best course of action would be to... MENDEZ!!! BEHIND YOU!!!" Security Officer Mendez whirled around in the room only to get caught by wild knife thrust. Blocking with his rifle, he managed to take the blade into his arm but also lost his rifle to his attacker. JP quickly raised his rifle and fired a shot at the assailant but fire was quickly returned burning a deadly line between JP and Sydney. Marks quickly pushed her to the side and fired another burst. Sydney stood up, having been knocked completely onto her rump, irritated instead of scared now. Still, she was not sure what to do. Turning on the flashlight would draw attention from whoever was in here. Thinking of rifle fire, she bent down again, and found Mendez squatting by the wall with a knife wound to his arm. With a shrug, she began to check it, trying to decide how serious the injury was. JP watched as Sydney crawled into the room with Mendez. Unsure about how to respond, he simply followed her half-hoping the attacker wasn't going to follow up with more potshots. His hope was not true however as a third volley shot past Sydney's ear. This time though Marks saw where his attacker was and quickly snuck around the pile of bodies. With a quick thrust with the butt of his rifle, the Romulan fell forward into the pile of bodies, knocking bodies and parts down towards and unto Sydney. Not sure what was coming towards her, Sydney responded by delivering a hard whack with her kit to the thing closest to her. After closer inspection she turned to Mendez and whispered, "I believe this one is already dead." JP looked over at Sydney and Mendez before picking up the now unconscious Romulan and handing him off to another guard. "Tell Command we got another one... And inform the doctor we also found the remaining Starfleet members and could use Medical's services for Mendez." The guard quickly nodded and ran off as Marks helped up Sydney. "Are you okay Midshipman?" Sydney sneezed into her hand, and then sniffed. "Um, I think so. And... I'm sorry about screaming and getting in the way." She wiped her hand on her pants and looked at JP sheepishly. "I'll try for a little calmer of an alert next time, sir." Marks raised an eyebrow. "Indeed, though I can understand the sorrow upon walking in on these poor souls..." JP took a deep breath before shaking his head at the mangled Starfleet bodies. "It’s just not fair..." JP mumbled. She gave him an odd look. "Okay." After one last look around the room of dead bodies she turned to him asking, "Are you okay sir?” while heading towards the door. "Fine," Marks replied slowly as he walked off. "Just... Fine."
  2. JP Marks came storming into the room where Kansas and the medical team were working with the injured and cataloging the dead bodies. He was visibly still upset after the off-handed remark made by Lt. Kroells and spoke harshly as he stormed in. "Kansas," Marks said, "whats the body count?" Kansas turned slowly. "Too many..." She replied grimly. JP's eyes widen a bit. "'Too many' is not a prudent answer Ensign. I expect you to be more exact when I ask you a question!" Kansas's eyebrow shot up and her tail swishes, "Oh, 'Ensign" is it? And when were you promoted to Lieutenant....Ensign Marks? And it is still too many lost...Sir." JP swallowed hard and eyeballed Kansas. "I'll have you KNOW that..." Suddenly, he stopped himself and reflected for a minute. "No... No, you're right. I do not outrank you but I do sit above you in the Security roster. Regardless, I have no right to address you in that matter and for that I apologise." Both visibly calmed down as Kansas's tail stopped bristleing, "Okay then. The fighting was obviously fierce, both during the original attack, then the Marines, and then the Away team. This place is all just one big casualty - but the official count is 7 of our people wounded, I bleive at least 3 are dead, and many of the station personnel dead." JP nodded and sat at an empty console as he inputted the figures onto his PADD. He finished and sat up, staring blankly out. "Ensi... Err... Kansas. I want you to know its not you that caused my outburst. Its just... Frustrating playing second fiddle to these Marines and listening to off-handed remarks by..." Marks stopped himself on his thoughts of Jia Qi's death and refocused on the Marines. He bowed his head a bit. "Its just frustrating having to watch a security matter be handled by the boys in black." " I totally understand where you are coming from JP," said Kansas understandingly as she placed a clawed hand gently on his shoulder. "These Jarheads know their stuff however, and sometimes we just need to follow their lead. Just...sometimes, mind you. They have as much finesse as a drunk Klingon at times when they go into "OOrah" mode. And then, thats when Security comes in, to do much needed and important cleaning and wrapping up. The Marines are the strike force, Security is the cleanup crew. Together, everyone just better watchout for the Gold shirts and the Jar heads." JP looked up at her and got back up to his feet. He opened his mouth for a second and then closed it again focusing on the Caitian's __expression. "I honestly don't see how you can put so much faith in those Gung Ho Savages. A lack of finesse is an understatement in almost everything they do... And I don't care what the records say about Colonal Harper or any of them... I don't trust the Spacer Militia any further then I could throw them." Kansas took a breath. "Half faith and half just learning to deal with the Jarheads. Although, I do feel as if this should have been Security's mission from the get go. We just need to go with the flow and deal with Jarhead Harper. It's her show " "It may be her show, but we are the true ones running it." JP stretched his arms a bit and brought his rifle into a low cradle. "And I for one am going to guarentee each show I'm involved in is a hit." Kansas slowly took her hand from his shoulder, chuckled softly, and purred. "Security to the rescue, or something like that?" With that, Marks __expression changed to that of pure sorrow. He suddenly mentally flashed back to the scene of his wife being crushed and he had to turn quickly to not show the tear coming out of his eye. "Yeah... Something like that..." As he wiped his eye, he turned back to Kansas. "Yeah... I am going to go see whats the deal with Lt. Kroells. Call me if anything arises." Kansas looked a bit puzzled by JP's emotional state, but did not comment on it. " Aye, you got it. Be careful, this place has plenty of dark corners." JP nodded as he walked off to find Kroells before mumbling quietly "this place isn't the only thing with dark corners..."
  3. Ensign JP Marks stood in the transporter room with the rest of the second team. As the others talked amongst themselves, JP just stood staring at his Phaser, preparing for the worst. As much confindence as he had in himself and his new found confidence in his crewmates, he still couldn't shake the anxiety arriving with the dangerous situation. He looked up as the rest of the Away Team piled into the Transporter Room and began getting on the transporter pad. He looked over at Commander Robair and nodded slightly and putting his phaser into his holster. He stepped up and felt the familiar rush of his molecules being scrambled and re-arranged as he re-appeared on the surface. He looked around and took a slightly staggered breath as his body adjusted to the atmosphere on the surface. He drew his phaser as he watched the rest of the team arrive on the surface. With a look at the crew he let his mind wander to what he knew thus far from the Marine reports. There we people on that planet and there were people getting hurt. His hands tightened around his phaser as he thought back to the promise he made when he decided to return to Starfleet... The promise he made on Jia Qi's grave... A small tear formed in his eye as he replaced the phaser into its holster and repeated the promise aloud. "I'll never let anyone else get hurt... I'll do my best to protect everyone I can..." The order to move out was soon given as well as he wiped his tear away and begin rushing to help those in need...
  4. Punched your sister... real smooth. B) I never liked the Doggies, though I have been to a couple games.
  5. Nothing wrong with my home state's team, but you have to remember I was born in Southern California so I'm a Laker and Angel fan. (Also a Minnesota Viking fan but thats a long story lol) I do go to quite a few D-Back games though so I suppose they are my National League team. Bank One is a great stadium and I even had a chance to sit in the Luxury Box. (Another long story lol B) )
  6. There is only one clear cut champion and that will be the Los An... Uh...Califor... Um... Anahiem... Errr. Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem!!! My team B)
  7. Vodka Martini... Shaken not stirred... Or if I really wanted to be a man, Jack and Coke on the rocks like my man Frank B)
  8. You know, I can't believe I missed this thread but eh, heres my Trek "Fix" so to speak... I was a big Sci-Fi fan even since I was a little kid. What really hooked me on Trek though was waiting for my Dad's tire to get put on his car. We had a blow out when I was six and while we were in the waiting room a rerun of "Spectre of the Gun" was on. I wouldn't let my Dad leave until I had watched the entire episode, lol, and thats when I was interested in it. I was a casual fan up until my Freshman year of High School when suddenly I got hooked on Voyager. I wasn't a big fan of the series but I found some friends (jocks mind you, not the nerds lol) were fans of the show. Soon we got into debates of the TOS movies which I soon rented to join in on the fun. TOS became my all time favorite show as Sci-Fi started showing all the reruns. Next thing I knew I was knee deep in TOS books and recording the marathons when they came on. Next thing I knew, I got hooked on TNG as Spike (then known as TNN) put the shows on before WWE Raw. (Was a big wrestling fan.) So now, 13 years after I first saw "Spectre of the Gun" I am still watching and being the biggest fanatic I can possibly be. B)
  9. If possible, can you change mine to "Redstar Nightclub Boxing Champion!"? Thanks B)
  10. Way to go Grom!
  11. Man... I did one of those taste tests things on soda brands and all I got was a lousy Coke hat... Pfft. I'm jealous. lol
  12. Ensign JP Marks sat huddled over the security console trying to weigh the possible options of the Agincourt's... Battle? JP stopped for a second wondering if that was truly what they were going to be entering in to. So far the only thing he knew for certain was that they were heading to Pax Primus and that he had orders to find a way to get past the orbital satellites and land on the planet... JP sighed for a second and leaned back, thinking about the true nature of the satellites. Apparently, the rumors about Pax Primus were true that in fact, it was being used as a stronghold for both the Romulans and Federation. He leaned back forward and began cross-checking any other known defense systems similar to what was deployed around Pax Primus. After what felt like an eternity, the console began displaying two results. RESULT MATCH: 1 of 2 Cardassian Orbital Defense Platform Starfleet Infiltration of Cardassia Stardate: 27404.19 RESULT MATCH: 2 of 2 Klingon Strategic Defense System Classified Recon Mission Stardate: Speculative; 265??.??-273??.?? JP cocked an eyebrow at the two results and was less then thrilled with what he saw. From what he saw, the only two matches he had for reference were over twenty years old and one was still under classification. Muttering a curse, JP brought up the Cardassian file and began reviewing the material. Surprisingly, he found the material to be extremely interesting about how the USS Defiant imprinted a Starfleet signiture unto an Astroid which caused the platform to follow it and eventually destroy their own power source. Realizing the sheer brilliance of that idea, JP quickly brought up the current files on the Pax Primus defense satellites and reviewed their power source. His short-lived happiness was soon shot down though when he saw that each of the orbiting satellites employed its own seperate power system in case of a planet-side generator shutdown. Muttering a curse, JP slammed the Padd on the desk causing the Pax Primus material to go away and the original security schematics to come back up with the file marking the .02 second security lag in the internal systems. "Wait a second," JP thought aloud, "that might be it..." Punching back up the central power source for the orbital defence stations, JP saw that during a catastrophic system failure and the back up power sources coming to life that their would be a 12.83 second window to get into the planet's orbit and drop a team in. Granted, that may only help to get a team down unto the planet, but if they were successful in making to one of the auxillery computer stations, they could reprogram the orbital systems and shut them down until they could figure what was going on. He quickly began scratching together his plan of following in the Defiant's footsteps. By imprinting a warp signiture on either a Astroid, a shuttle, or some large body they could manuever to the main power station, they could turn the system on itself and open up that near 13 second block. He could only hope that the Sciences, Engineering, and the Marines would be proficient enough to execute the rest of the plan on the planet...
  13. Ensign JP Marks never claimed to be a psychic, but when the Captain called for an immediate meeting of all the senior staff, he had to wonder if he had a bit of Betazoid telepethy in him. He just knew the Captain had recieved bad news and this seemed to cement that fact... JP surveyed the bridge as the senior staff piled into the Captain's Ready Room in immediate response to the priority one message he had recieved from command. He could tell from the concern in the face of those who had known the Captain longer then he that something must be wrong. Deep down a mixture of concern and excitement boiled to the surface as after only one week in space, the Agincourt might be sent into a situation worthy of her trouble. JP suddenly stopped his train of thought with that comment and realized how asinine it is to think something like that. No one in their right mind would want to be thrust into a dangerous situation but here JP was looking forward to it. He glanced down at his right arm and sighed, knowing full well what dangerous circumstances could lead to. However... A part of him was ready for that challenge after nearly a year without a chance to help people. When JP had graduated from Starfleet's Security and Tactical program, he had made the vow to himself that he would do whatever he could in his power to help people. When he was assigned as a provisional Midshipman on the USS Galahad, he had thought he could do just that. However, the Galahad turned out to be nothing more then a glorified Freighter at times which left Marks with a thirst to see some action and prove his worth as a Tactical officer. With a deep breath he turned back to his Tactical station. He found it foolish to want the ship to be thrown into a dangerous situation but he also found it rewarding. Here he was... Tactical officer of one of the most unique ships in Federation history and depending on what the problem was; an essential backbone to any mission. With a final look at the Ready Room, Marks turned back to his Yellow Alert diagnostics, silently hoping that this would be his first true moment to shine...
  14. Well... I am totally against tattoos for several of the reasons Dacotah mentioned... But... If I was forced to get one, I'd totally get a huge Tattoo of Kirk giving the finger to a whole bunch of Klingons while laughing as the Enterprise-A blows a huge hole in the Klingon Empire emblem... MUAHAHAHAHAHA! LOL j/k
  15. I was involved in the selling of the scented Storm equipment since the original test balls came out in 1998. Its really not that big of a deal to a quote/unquote "real bowler" as bowling ball performance isn't affected by scent. ;) However, some leisure bowlers are being "pushed" from a 89 dollar plastic bowling ball to a 179 dollar scented Reactive Urethane Ball... So I suppose it can be an added incentive.
  16. JIA QI!!! NOOOOOO!!! Ensign JP Marks sat up from his bed with a shot, sweating profusely and still hovering between his nightmare and the real world. He quickly drew in breath after breath as his heart seemed to refuse to accept the truth of his reality. JP had to convince himself he wasn’t still on Starbase Alpha Prime and hadn’t been for over five years... "Computer, lights." As the lights came to life into his shared cabin on the USS Galahad, JP shook off the terror of his dream and shifted into a sitting position. As he looked around the empty cabin, he couldn’t believe the length of time that had passed since his posting on Starbase Alpha Prime. "My god..." he thought, "has it been five years?" With all of the vivid nightmares he continued to have about the horrors he had seen culminating with the loss of his wife, it felt as if it was only yesterday. JP stood up and staggered over to the washroom. Turning on the sonic shower, he stripped quickly and walked in. As he cleaned himself, he began to stare at his cybernetic arm and drift back in time yet again. He saw Jia Qi getting crushed underneath the rubble. He saw the fallen bulkhead which collapsed on him crushing his right arm. He even saw the Klingon Malg with that sadistic grin he had on his face during the trial... When they let Malg walk free, JP had vowed never to rejoin Starfleet. After all the evidence, all the arguement, and the darn near iron-clad proof Malg had controlled that freighter that collided with the Starbase, they still let him go. JP recalled himself yelling in anger at the verdict and throwing a punch at Malg with everything he had, shattering his nose and breaking that evil smile. He then remember being dragged away in anger before yelling that he would make Malg pay for what he did. Almost two years passed before JP gave up all hope of hunting down Malg. It was with a truly heavy heart he cried on Jia Qi’s memorial back on Earth and sobbing for guidance. That was when he suddenly realized that he had to rejoin Starfleet. All of the crying in the world couldn’t bring Jia Qi back or bring Malg to justice... But if he could become a Starfleet Tactical and Security Officer, he could make a difference in other people’s struggles. The next three years were nothing but a blur to him. Going back to Starfleet, applying and being accepted to the Tactical program at Starfleet Security, and even his one year probationary period on the Galahad had all been nothing more then fodder for his new posting. Starting tomorrow with the launch of the USS Agincourt, he would be able to finally make a difference in others lives. He would finally be able to help adhere the new dawning peace in the galaxy and bring to justice those who would oppose it. Finally... He would be able to make peace with himself and try to push away these ghosts from the past. JP turned off the sonic shower and quickly pulled on a fresh uniform. Looking at the Holoclock, he saw his shuttle would be departing in just a few minutes. He looked about his cabin for a last time and silently thanked Captain Davies and Lt. Commander Robair for accepting him on the Agincourt regardless of the past. With a kiss to the holopicture of his wife and a lifting of his suspension bag, Jefferson Prescott Marks walked out into the corridor to meet with his new destiny...

  23. I think as far as smoking goes it can be boiled down to a few points. 1. Eliminating smoking completely would have a very negative impact on the economy simply for the amount of jobs that the Tobacco company supplies by producing their products. 2. I don't believe having smokefree places of business is hurtful by any means to the business itself. Personally, anytime I go out anywhere anyways, I smoke outside. Its least offensive to nonsmokers and doesn't seem to bother anyone. (A lot of my friends are the same way.) 3. I could see smoking eliminated in the future if the tobacco industry "switched" to producing a different product. However in our financially driven day and age... Its truly hard to find a product more profitable then cigerettes and tobacco. 4. I do believe a lot of non-smokers have a right to gripe when being forced to be around a smoker... But on the other hand, you sometimes have to accept the situation or do/move somewhere else. (I worked in a casino bowling alley for two years and saw a lot of improvements for this. A non-smoking portion of the casino was built for this problem and the movie theatre was made smokefree. However, in the bowling center, you have to simply accept that some people will smoke and if you can't handle it, perhaps you should do something else either until the smokers are gone or indefinitely.) Okay, there's my two cents. (Drops it into the bucket)
  24. Read The Captain's Daughter. I always thought that would make an awesome pilot for an Enterprise B series.
  25. As I said when DS9 came out, Voyager came out, and when Enterprise came out, lets see another show set in the TOS period :)
