  1. "Feelin' Groovy" Log entry 80 - 22: SD 10602.02 It seemed to be like old times back on the Arcadia with Marx, Quest and Anderson back in the fray. Some minor changes roster wise, but it was like a good old family reunion. He looked at his console, with the Closed Circuit surveliance monitors of Marx and the changeling in the brig. Yes. Old times indeed. There was no audio in the pictures, but Vectra didn't have to be am empath to pick up Marx's emotions, judging from the vivid shots he got whilst Security did their thing. He was pretty sure things'll go down smoothly. But he felt bad for him all the same. Killing a changeling, a pretty bad charge indeed. But there wasn't really much old Vectra could do about it, and resumed his more mundane everyday tasks that befit a starship Operations officer. With Sam now gone to check on his daughter, Vectra was pretty much left alone to himself. His replacement at the conn, not nearly as talkactive as Sam was. But his question about Miranda still is what got at him the most. Just how are things going with him and Miranda? Their Starfleet duties really prevent them from spending much time with each other. And the only times he can remember them together doing something fun was at stations on shore leave. Eh, that won't do.. He kind of sighed to himself. But, then again, being at OPS did have it's advantages.
  2. "On the Hunt" Log entry 79 - 21 Cautiouslly, Vectra followed Lo'Ami with his phaser drawn with one hand, and scanning for the changeling's lifesigns with the other. As anyone whose come in contact with changelings, they could tell you that it was mighty hard trying to find them. Especially, when they could change into anything. A bulkhead perhaps? Or maybe a console? Or some crewman walking about.. Maybe even pose as a member of the Arcadia crew, as this particular changeling did twice. Once to frame Captain Moose on the murder of the station commander, and the second, masquerading as N'Dak and attacking Commander Dacotah. One didn't know what to expect, from this mysterious race. Vectra tried reaching out the changeling trying to feel for his mind, and pinpoint his locations and feelings from there, but he pretty much came up short. Clever bastards.. thought Vectra. Settled to do it the old fashioned way, Vectra combed the area with LoAmi and the others. Essentially, trying to search for the proverbial needle in the proverbial haystack. And so far, he was having quite a hard time of it. But after each Arcadia crew member tested, he was glad in the fact that the changeling wasn't posing as one of his comrades again. Vectra slowly moved the tricorder to get a life sign reading. Feeling like hunters on an excursion, this reminded Vectra of fox hunting back home in England. Boy, it was hard trying to nab those foxes. They were clever and cunning animals, that seemed to excel at outsmarting both hunter and hound and make a hasty retreat to freedom. But, despite the tactics the foxes used to get away from the hunters, more often than not Vectra was successful in capturing his intended target. Though the situation is different, he inwardly hoped his hunting streak would remain intact.
  3. Update 4 to reflect Vectra's recent promotion.
  4. "Shop 'till you drop!" Log entry 78 - 20: SD 10508.25 Vectra Meriva logged on to his station at OPS on the bridge of the USS Arcadia, and began preparations to leave Starbase 143, and begin on the Arc's next mission... whatever that was. Garnering the necessary clearance from the base personnel, he hoped they'd be good to go in a few minutes or so. But meanwhile, while he was attentivly doing his job, his thoughts returned to Trichon & Merri's upcoming wedding. News such as a wedding travels fast on a starship, especially if it involves one of the senior staff. So, everyone on the Arc and his uncle now know about it, though to his knowledge, a date has not yet been set. Vectra thought about the gifts he had bought for them. One was a genuine 15th century Chinese ming vase, and the second was a nifty automated diaper changing machine for Trichon and Merri's new baby. Both gifts were already giftwrapped and addressed to the bride and groom. One was from Miranda, and the other from Vectra. "You've got mail!" the mechanical voice said from his console. Opening it, Vectra saw that Trichon & Merri's third gift was ready to be transported to the Arcadia. Vectra grinned. "Please transport the gift to Shuttle Bay 3" he told the salesman. "Sure thing, Mr.Meriva. It was a pleasure doing business with you" the salesman said, obviouslly happy about the big ticket sale he just made. Tapping into Shuttlebay 3's surveliance cameras, Vectra saw the sleek red speeder bike materialise into existant in the shuttlebay, in a hidden isolated corner which Vectra closed off so noone could go in and see it. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise early. Sophisticated security software was used to prevent unauthorised access. "Hey Betty.. cover for me for a few minutes, will ya?" he said. Betty promptly taking his place. A short turbolift ride later took Vectra to Shuttlebay 3. Using retinal and figerprint scans, the computer let Vectra into the small storage shed which hid the speeer. It was small, about the size of a 21st century motorcycle and sat two. The passenger sitting behind the driver. Gleaming under the storage lights, Vectra set about the daunting task of giftwrapping the Japanese speeder. It came equipped with a roof which would come up with the press of a button to allow for space travel. But as it is not warp capable, it wouldn't be able to go very far. It was designed for L-N Class planet surfaces. It's mostrous engine and sleek, low shape makes it currently the fastest production speeder in the market. (One might say it resembles the speeders the Storm Troopers used in Return of the Jedi). It's relatively small size makes it so it could fit in Type IX shuttles, or any runabout in the Arcadia's shuttlepool. After he was finished, Vectra returned back to the bridge, retaking his place at OPS. "Thanks Betty" A few minutes later, he sent out a bulletin to most of the crew. From: Lt. Vectra Meriva, OPS USS Arcadia To: Arcadia Senior Staff & Crew. (minus Trichon and Merri) Subject: Wedding Gift Hey everyone. How's it going? Anyways, the momentus occaison of the upcoming wedding of our esteemed crewmates Trichon and Merri is fast approaching, an occaison worthy for celebration. And as such, I have taken the liberty of selecting the perfect wedding gift for the happy couple. The gift, is a Suzuki Ninja 5530-XR hover-speeder bike. An unusual and expensive wedding gift, I know, but I feel that they're worth it. This gift I feel should be from everybody on the Arcadia. I'm asking for you all to pitch in whatever you can for the speeder. The retail cost of the bike was 8000 credits. My goal is about 25 people to pitch in. I personally, have put in 1000 credits, leaving 7000 credits for the remainder of the crew. At 25 people, that would amount to 280 credits a person. Of course, the more people who pitch in, the less everyone would have to pay. Pay through the computer. And contact me if you've any questions. My heartfelt thanks to everybody in advance. Let's make this one wedding they'll never forget. Yours, Vectra Target: 7000 Credits Amount So far: 8650Credits Amount to go: -1650Credits
  5. "Special Delivery" Log entry 77 - 19: SD 10505.15 Vectra shifted into top gear, never letting off the accelerator of his small hovercar as it careened through the city to the make shify triage centre just outside of town 30 miles away. After receiving a telepathic call for help from Lt. Merri, Vectra and Miranda attended to the sick Trichon whose crashed shuttle was found on the outskirts of the city on Risa. He was said to have been suffering from radiation poisoning due to his efforts in trying to prevent the warpcore breach, and was now basically dying in the small leather backseat of Vectra's expensive hover car. It was a very tight fit, with Miranda, Merri, Fitz and Trichon crammed inside the car (no bigger than a Porshe 911, or similiar car), but they all managed to fit in with the doors closed by some miracle. With what was going on planetwise, what with the fierce storms, raging waters and general pandamodium, traffic in the Risian skies was fairly light, save for emergency shuttles, which he waved around like a racer lapping his compitition. Vectra's car was built for speed, and he wasn't afraid to push the hovercar to its limits, if it meant saving his friend Trichon. Looking back in the rearvoew mirror, he could see the foursome being josstled around like Mexican Jumping Beans. "Sorry.. we're almost there" he said as he accelerated even more. By now, the skies were almost pitch black. The skies were lit occaisonallly by the odd huge flash of lightning in addition Vectra's headlights. Thick hard rainwater and howling winds buffeted the car, and it took Vectra all of his strength to keep the car in the air, and prevent it from crashing under all this turbulence. He found it hard to believe that 24 hours previously, this area was calm, tranquil and peaceful, not even a cloud in the sky. Vectra hoped that the people down there were faring well. Though he was certain the casualty levels will be extremely high. He also felt had knowing that it was the destruction of his ship so close to Risian orbit was the cause of all of this. Even if there was nothing anyone could've done about it. Narrowly dodging a building that collapsed to the right of him, Vectra turned to a narrow street and reduced his speed as he neared the triage area. Vectra touched down as smoothly and as quicly as he could, opening the doors even before making a complete landing. He got out and helped to get Trichon out of the car and safely to a medical bay so he could get proper treatment from the doctors. Staying with Trichon, he watched on helplessly as they went to work treating his radiation poisoning. Vectra hoped that Trichon will be fine and come out of this smelling like roses. He was no doctor by anymeans, but he hoped their quick response was a key factor in getting Trichon healed and alive from his injuries.
  6. "It's the End of the World as We know it (And I Feel Fine)" Log entry 76 - 18: SD 10505.10 It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. - It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I feel fine) R.E.M. All heck was breaking lose on what was once the prime resort planet of Risa. People running and screaming about here and there, scared for their lives. The once pristine planet was now tearing itself apart with hurricane-like winds, heavy rains and raging ocenic waves as tall as an Intrepid class cruiser. The last thing Vectra remembers was seeing a bright orange flash and hearing a near deafning explosion, just prior to beaming back from the ill-fated Arcadia. As a former Engineer, Vectra should've suspected the faltering power levels, blowing power conduits and finally, his shorted out turbolift car all as signs of things to come. Ten minnutes later, the warpcore breached and destoryed the Arcadia. Vectra managed to beam himself out about a minute before the core went off, but we wondered if Trichon was just as lucky. Like any stubborn Engineer, he ordered Vectra off the ship, while he stayed onboard to try and stop the core from breaching. This started to feel like Hans' death all over again. (Although Trichon wasn't as successful as Hans was in stopping chaos from ensuing). Vectra stayed close to Miranda and some of the other crew, making sure they're safe, and they don't get lost. As a result, the Arcadia explosion near the planet Risa, destroyed the planet's weather control satellites in the explosion, resulting in the harsh weather they are experiencing now. The harsh winds and heavy rain hit Vectra like a sledgehammer. He struggled to keep balanced as he, with the others tried to get to a safer place. Not being able to see much infront of him, Vectra went in the direction Moose and Dac were and tried to find a building they could hide from in there, namely one of the hotels that was nearby. "There should be a hotel over this way!" Vectra yelled out to the others over the storm. Vectra held onto Miranda as he progressed to where the hotel was. Throngs of people thought likewise and were now trying to crowd into the hotel. Like most of the other Arc crew, Vectra had no clue why this was all happening and how and if they can fix it, in the long run. Essentially shipless now, Vectra didn't even know if there was anything they could do.
  7. "Risian Rhapsody" Joint Log by: Lt. Vectra Meriva & Lt (jg) Miranda Porter Stardate: 10505.01 The sun began to set over the Risian horizon. Under Auto-Pilot, Vectra's boat quietly coasted past the harbour as the skies were painted a beautiful spectrum of reds, oranges and golds. Vectra poured some champagne into their glasess. "Are you enjoying the cruise?" asked Vectra. "Yes you have an amazing boat...I have only been sailing a few times, but it has never been as lovely as this" Miranda said and then took a sip of her drink Miranda looked down at her drink and smiled "I haven't had much to eat today I think this is gonna go to my head" she sets down her glass "Hmm, Oh I see" Vectra replied. As if one cue, another waiter arrived with their dinner -- lobster tails and steaks drizzled with a barbeque sauce. For dessert was an ornate chocolate mousse cake. Vectra smiled. "I was hoping you'd be hungry, Miranda. My chefs are actually quite good" The waiters set down the dishes on the table, overlooking the ocean. "Wow, it looks wonderful" she said as she stood up and walked over to the table she laughed "you seem to have a taste for the, shall we say, finer things in life" Vectra smiled and followed her to the table sitting across from her. "Yes.. well.. Only the best for my guests. However, I have been quite successful in investing, mainly antinques and real estate.. so I basically have more funds in my account than I can spend. Well.. that and my father owns a sucessful dilithium mine. I guess you can say, that's just what I'm used to" said he. "Aw yes well that could be it...as for me this is more than I am use to, my parents own a theatre company on earth and well its a little more low key and well to be perfectly frank a mess"She looks at the table and unfolds her napkin "we use to feed an entire company and her cooking was not that great shall we say" "Ahh, I see" replied Vectra. "But I imagine it was quite an experience growing up in the theatre. You're a very culutred person, and it's quite evident it was time well spent." "Thanks"she smiled as she took a bite of food "cultured..I like that, it was a very interesting childhood to say the least" "Although it is not as useful as you might think...I can reconfigure a lighting board in ten min and design authentic Elizabethan costumes, but that's not always the most useful skills when it comes to Starfleet" "No I imagine not" Vectra muses. "Most of the stuff I learned when I was a lad also wasn't exactly mandatory stuff in Academy 101. Graceful posture, civilised speech, and Betazoid customs. Oh well though, someone still has to tend to cast or crew in case they got inured, eh?" "Yes I guess so..." she paused for a moment "graceful posture? do they use a lot of that on Betazed" Then she looked down at her plate a little embaressed. "I am sorry that was kinda rude...I have a bad habit of talking before I think" Vectra chuckled. "Think nothing of it, I didn't feel offended at the least. But no, not for Betazoid, but more for Earth. I imagine since you did theatre you've seen the many fancy ballroom dances, or debut parties protrayed on stage. In England where I was raised, I had to do go to many such formal balls such as those. Thusly, I was required to learn the finer arts of dancing, graceful prose and.. posture. Wouldn't be proper to slouch in such a formal affair" he said in his upper class British accent. She laughed and in as fine a British accent as Vectra she said "well of course not, that would not be very polite" she looked out at the sunset and was silent in thought for a second. "Starfleet has a funny way of bringing people together" "Yes, it sure does" said Vectra. "I always found it most intresting that Starfleet has so many different people from all walks of life. One only has to look at their own ship for proof. It's part of the reason why I joined in the first place" She nodded "So that's why you joined....I um read your file and was kinda wondering that" "Well, now you know" said Vectra. "I feel much more better knowing that my life is devoted for the intersts of others. Very gratifying". The boat quietly sailed past the harbour and into the main body of water. The water was crystal clear and fairly empty except for a few pockets of large islands in the distance. Miranda had finished eating and was still looking out at the water. "Look over there"she said as she pointed to the islands. "We should go take a look around, we are explorers" she winked at him Vectra smiled back at Miranda, and nodded. "Sure, why not? That 's what we're sworn to do.. " With a few tapps on his console, Vectra's yacht changed her course and made it's way to the large island on the right. "This is a nice secluded island. Uninhabited, but it does have a nice forest and a waterfall. But I haven't seen it all" She smiled as the boat pulled closer to the island, the trees were thick and she thought that the waterfall must be somewhere in the middle of them. "Yes it looks very lovely" "I think so too" said Vectra. With another tap of a button, a ramp began to lower from the centre entrace, just as the anchor hit the bottom of the water. Vectra proceeded to the entrance, and offered his hand. "Well then. Shall we?" She took his hand and they stepped off the boat. "Such a gentelman" Still holding his hand she pulled him toward the tree's, then she suddenly let go "sorry sir" she said and kept on walking. Vectra smirked and followed Miranda. There was still alot of light left in the day, but he carried a portable armlight woith him just in case. "Beatuiful island, eh? I think the waterfall is that way" he said pointing to a thick patch of forest. "Lead on" she said. As they walked Miranda's eyes never stopped moving, she was trying to take everything in cause she knew they would only be on the planet for a short time.Vectra climbed up a small incline, through patches of swaying palm trees. As they closer the sound of rushing water can be heard, getting louder with every kilometre they travel. Vectra took his time, ensuring Miranda is safely climbing up. Miranda followed Vectra up the slope and when they reached the top her eyes went wide and she gasped "it's...beautiful" Vectra smiled. "I'm glad you like it". As they climb the incline, they can see the waterfall. About 25 feet in height, the waterfall is surrounded by a forest of lush palm trees. Brightly coloured birds fly past the stream of water. Absent also, are any rocks or stones in the bottom. The water was so clear, Vectra could see right down. She gave him a sly smile " You wanna do something crazy?" "Like what?" Vectra replied. She grabed his hand and took off running toward the water "like this" she laughed as she dragged him behind her right into the water. Much to Vectra's surprise, he was dragged along with Miranda.. splashing into the water seconds afterwards. As expected, the water was very warm. Vectra laughed. "Woo, I must admit, that was crazy. But most fun"... Vectra smirked and climbed the 25 foot cliff and looked out from the top. The view was spectacular, as he could see the forests, and even his boat in the distance docked at sea. Vectra then dove off the cliff and into the water extending his arms before him like an Olympic diver. He splashed into the water, painlessly. "Heh heh.. now that was quie some rush" he added. She laughed as she floated in the water. "Yeah I am not much of a diver myself" "I wonder what it's gonna look like when we show up on the ship completely soaked" "I'm sure Moose wouldn't mind, eh?" chuckled Vectra. He too floated around in the warm water, still energised by that rush. Miranda stepped out of the water and sat at the edge looking at the waterfall. She sat on a rock hopeing to dry off a little bit before it go dark. "Maybe we should get back? It has been a wonderful day, thank you for inviting me". From the distance, Vectra could hear a hawk calling, presumably looking for today's supper. "Perhaps you're right. I don't know what comes out here at night. And it was my pleasure, Miranda. I'm glad you had such a wonderful, and hope we can do it again in the future?" "I would love to Vectra" she said with a smile. "Great" with that, Vectra and Miranda headed back to the boat. Retracting the ramp and the anchor once in, they set a course back to the city, with memories that will hopefully last for a long time to come.
  8. "Go Fish" Log entry 75 - 17: SD 10504.19 Vectra hauled his fishing gear off of his boat and placed them on a rack near the dock. Going back to the boat again to retreive his catch of the day, a big grin once again escaped from Vectra's face. He looked down at big grey fish he cought off some island about 5 km due north of here. He hefted the fish, which had to be about 40-50 lbs in his arms and proceeded back to his kitchen. Fishing, in addition to many things was Vectra's main interests, and one of the main reasons why the purchased his small, secluded lakefront cottage here on Risa in the first place. But, really.. Vectra got a super deal. Since the cottage is a bit further away from the main cities and tourist sites on Risa, the asking price the real estate company wanted for it, was really quite low. So naturally, Vectra jumped at the chance. Sure, Vectra loved the hussle and bustle of major metropolitan cities, but it was also nice to just get away from all the noise and shuttles and have some peace and quiet, and just relax in nature. The view was absolutely tremendous and there was nobody else around here for miles. It almost seemed that Vectra had this whole place all to himself. Vectra's property was about five acres, with the four-bedroom cottage dominating the property. Also included though was a boat house, a dock, a swimming pool with a hot tub but nothing else but trees and the crystal clear lake that wrapped around the cottage. Vectra walked over to his little Argo buggy he bought at a Federation Surplus Auction and placed the fish in the backseat, under some old, clean blankets to prevent the fish smell from getting into the seats. Vectra drove his 4 year old Argo from the lake to his cottage a few minutes away. Once in his kitchen, Vectra cleaned and gutted the fish and prepared most of it for dinner later on the Arc. A fish this big ought to last him a week or two at least, thought Vectra. But, a good part of it did go to a nice dinner of smoked fish steaks, and lemon with a nice cold bottle of premium Risian lager. Vectra invited some of his friends over for dinner. They had a grand time, waterskiing, parasailing, and playing pool. Desicive to say, that time flew very quickly. By the end of the night, everyone was pretty much partied out, plastered or both. A tired Vectra retired to his bedroom to get some sleep. He knew though, that he would have to return to the Arcadia tommorow as they embark on some brand new mission, where once again death and destruction wait just around the bend.
  9. "Arrested Development" Log entry 74 - 16:SD 10503.21 Vectra Meriva worked on the biodomes with Fitz, but his attention wasn't all towards his work. They were down on an Away Mission on Jardinia to assist the world in repairing their biodomes and support structures from years and years of corrosion and decay. There was alot for Engineers to do, enough to bring Vectra out of retirement as an Engineer (when he was transferred to OPS in January) albeit temporarily to assist Fitz and Trichon fix the domes. And sicne Vectra was quite an expert on biodome structures, he didn't quite mind. Anything to help out his former chief Trichon. Maybe the fact that the Doctors and Commander Dacotah missing their shuttle ride to the planet was a bad sign of things to come on the away mission. Vectra, later having to make a return trip to pixck up the doctors and Dac. But to make matters a bit worse, the Arcadia crew was quite shocked to learn that Trichon was being charged for the murder of the father of a Jardian ambassador 58 years ago. Vectra was of course instantly sckeptical. Trichon certainly wasn't even alive when the accused murder took place. He always thought Trichon was about his age, somewhere in his 20s. Which makes Trichon way to young to have commited the murder. But, there wasn't anything he could do for Trichon and had to leave it to Commander Dacotah and Captain Moose. But murder was a very serious crime, no matter where you went, so of course Vectra remained concerned for his old friend. He stood with Fitz, a new doctor whose name escapes him at the moment as well as Dr. Porter. Vectra and the new doctor helped Porter down from a ladder she went up to retreive something. Work on the biodomes was pretty much completed now by both Vectra and Fitz. Both had spent a lot of time fixing the cracked domes and rusting support beams. "Hopefully the new beams and dome welds should last the Jardinians for a very long time come" he said to the doctors. Vectra smiled inwardly. Why does things like this always have to happen to them? He thinks. He wondered just what Trichon did to get himself into this mess.
  10. "Alone in the Dark" Log entry 73 - 15: SD 10502.24 An exhausted Vectra plopped down on his bed. Like most everybody on board the Arcadia, the last mission they had had some very serious negative effects on him. Vectra sighed as he looked up at the ceiling, laying on his bad on top of his plush bed, feeling only the soft rhrumming of the warp core through the deck plating below him. Never giving it much thought before, Vectra couldn't be happier to have this feeling. As a Betazoid, Vectra had always been aware of the presences of most everybody around him. Of course, Vectra never got any deeper than that. For he respected the privacy of his fellow crew and never has or ever will enter their minds and read their thoughts. But nonetheless, just sensing their prescence, an attribute Vectra leanred very young always made him feel that he wasn't alone. It gotten so comforting that Vectra had long ago took it to advantage. But after what just happened, Vectra really doesn't think that'll happen again anytime soon. Vectra sighed. The last thing he remembers, was that a giant spider like alien creature had beamed aboard the Arcadia from the planet in the Kandaouru sector. He told Captain Moose and Commander Dacotah about the new intruder and instinctively put up a Level 10 Force Field to prevent the Spider from further entering the Arcadia. But after that... After that, is when everything fell apart. One second,he can sense eberybody onboard the Arcadia. There.. then the next... nothing! Like somebody turned off his mind with a remote control. In all his life, Vectra had never been alone like that before. His mind was shrouded with a pitch black darkness, where he couldn't detect or sense anything. He tried calling out to anyone.. but only heard the loud echoes of his calling. in that darkness that enveloped his soul, Vectra walked on aimlessly. Yearning to see any kind of light, or thoughts of anybody. But.. as much as he called out, nobody answered. It was dark... very dark. He could basrely see his hand in front of his face. And for Vectra, is this new sense of extreme lonliness as an all too disturbing new feeling he felt. As a Betazoid, Vectra depended on the feelings of others to prevent lonliness. And dispite his best efforts in Betazoid meditation, and thought supression techniques taught to him by Betazeds finest telepathic and empathic instructors, none at all worked. He was truly alone and in the dark. Thinking back, Vectra had never been so scared in his life. Only the pitch black emptiness of his mind accomplanied Vectra now, where only minutes before, the presence of perhaps 500 people accompanied him previouslly. Vectra reached over and felt his eyes. Wet. Apparently, he had been crying. The utter lonliness seemed to have got to him. He also felt his cheek.. looking at the mirror he saw that it was red, and right now it was beginning to throb. How in the world did I get this? Vectra thought to himself. It didn't appear to have been from a fall, but instead from a hard open handed slap. Did somebody strike him across the face.. and whom? Most likely, when Vectra was in that dark empty pit in his mind, Vectra was zoned out physically. A shell of his being. Vectra got up and walked to a mirror on top of his dresser-drawer. Yes.. a reddish hand print can be seen faintly across his face, though by now, it had mistly faded away. "It looks old" Vectra said softly to himself. While he was up, Vectra walked over to a drawer and extracted a bottle of Gin. It wasn't too strong, but anything will do.. forgoing a cup, Vectra opened the bottle and took a long swig. The liquid hit Vectra like a tonne of bricks, anc slowly cleared away the remaining cobwebs in his mind. It was at times like these, he wished the Arcadia still had a Counsellor. Hm.. wel, maybe Vectra still could pay Knllwtchr a visit -- although, alot of people onboard would probably do the same. Of course, Vectra wasn't the only person affected. No, Trichon, Merri, Fitz.. everybody, seemed to have been affected mentally. Later, it was revealed to Vectra that the Spider creature that Vectra imprisioned was the root of all of the recent incidents -- including his. Apparently, these spiders had telepathic abilites to manipulate the minds of its victims making them think something terrible is befalling them. It was dead real, and draws on the memories and/or the fears of its victims and preys upon them once they've been rendered immobile. But Vectra was later told the Captain had gone down to the Transporter Room with a phaser rifle and vanquished the arachnid. The new doctors, also played a part by releasing Saratonin through the environmental systems. Thus freeing up the minds of those infected. For Vectra, it was like the morning sun once again rising from the horizon after a moonless night. The darkness that shrouded Vectra slowly started to dissipate. Light overcame darkness and soon came again the presences of everyone onboard. The first, was Dr. Porter, who was standing right in front of him. For this, Vectra couldn't have been happier to see her. Disoriented at first, Vectra's congative reasoning slowly started to come back to him as the doctor set back in scanning him. She told Vectra to get some rest, and now that his shift is over, Vectra definately will indulge in Miranda's request. Perhaps a round of golf in Pebble Beach or Horseback riding in France in the Holodeck? Maybe the good doctor will be free to tag along? Now that Vectra can sense everybody again, he can sense that she too had been suffering emotional stress from the incident. Of course, that's as far as he ever got. Vectra, like most Betazoids in Starfleet respected the privacy of their fellow crew. And he would never enter the mind of anyone to read their thoughts, unless it's like, an extreme dire emergency and even then only with Moose and/or Dacotah's express permission first. But still, one doesn't have to be a telepath to see it in her face, and her body language. Her eyes too were red from crying. Everybody was hurtin' from being here. Before the Arcadia left Kandouru Sector, Captain Moose initiated a General 7 Order in which, prohibits Federation vessels from entering this sector ever again. Good for him, Vectra thought. Nobody should have to endure that kind of grief ever again, and hoped that noone ever will. Anyways, once again accompanied by the prescense of everyoone onboard, Vectra soon fell asleep happily with the gratifying feeling of not being alone again.
  11. "Mentally Challenged" Log entry 72 - 14: SD 10502.10 At the bridge tapping away at the Operations Console on board the USS Arcadia, Vectra Meriva tried with great difficulty to monitor the Away Team planetside. "Darn it! I'm losing them" he said to himself. Due to the interference from the caves, Vectra couldn't get a good transporter lock on the team. He could hardly hardly even detect their life signs down there. The Away Team seemed to be going deeper into the cave, and the deeper they went, the more Vectra was losing their signals. Pretty soon, they might be at a point where even communications to the team and vice versa would be impossible. But there seemed to be something else hidden in the cave, along with the Away Team and the Hunley survivors. Thus having N'Dak and Lo'Ami venturing deeper down in the cave to see what's inside. Vectra sighed. The longer the Arcadia stayed in orbit around this place, the more he didn't like being here. Vectra started to have a weird feeling tingling throughout his mind and body. And it wasn't just the anxiousness of the mission either. No, it seemed to be like some sort of weird buggy feeling. So far, Vectra has been able to ignore it, using his Betazoid meditation techniques. But, the feeling continued to linger inside of him. Vectra certainly never had this kind of feeling before, and couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. But it felt like tiny little bugs were crawling on his body and mind, making him feel uncomfortable. Vectra wasn't the only one to feel this. Already, there have been several cases of mental attacks reported throughout the ship. Vectra belived it started with Merri. Just having been brought back to her own mind from Trichon's, Merri had suffered a mental attack. He could hear her cries of help in his mind telepathically. Vectra did his best to calm her, until Dr. Knollwatcher took over. Apparently, it seemed that her teddy bear turned evil and started to attack her. How very unfortunate. Thought Vectra. But Merri wasn't the only person to siffer from a mental attack. Not long after, he could sense Lt. Fitz suffering from one as well. Shoot, Vectra didn't even know he was telepathic. Just assumed he was human. And then of course, there is also the case with the new helmsman Ensign Semaj. His optical implant shorted out on him, leaving the man as blind as a bat and unable to perform his duties. Naturally, this began to make Vectra worry a bit. Will he too start to feel the effects and have a mental attack of his own? He certainly hoped not. As that would be quite embarassing, right here on the bridge. He would only have to rely on his Betazoid mind control techniques to prevent that from happening. Like with most Betazoids, Vectra learned to control his thoughts and telepathic powers at a very early age. So he had alot of experience keeping his mind under control. He would have to cross his fingers and hope it would work until the mission is over and the Arcadia can finally leave this god-forsaken sector in peace. With Ensign Betty now at the Helm, Vectra brought up a second display on Lt. Cdr Lo'Ami's personnel records. Instructed to find anything in his records pertaining to his ever being on this planet. Vectra scoured as much information on Mr. Lo'Ami as his Alpha-1 Authorisation would allow. Everything from his basic biographical information, right up to records of all hosts of the Lo'Ami symbiot, beginning from Haya'la dating back to the 1700s. Thirty minutes into the exhaustive search so far provided Vectra with nothing he wanted to know, that is until he came to the records of Lo'Ami's previous host Kurahj. A member of a previous failed expedition to the Kendaru Sector one century ago, Vectra finally found the records he was looking for. "I think I just hit paydirt" he said turning to Commmander Dacotah.
  12. "Change of Plans" Log entry 71-13 (Note: Log begins prior to last weeks sim) Still in sickbay, Vectra countinues to do his best as to ascertain what happened to Merri's mind. He got as far as to actually find her "essence", inside of Trichon's mind. Now unfortunatly, he had no idea as to get Merri's soul out of Trichon. Figuring Koshic would probably know what to do, as he has more experience in telpathic instruction, Vectra tried to get ahold of him telepathically. Which unfortunately for Vectra was answered with a jolt to his mind, that sent Vectra falling to the floor. Apparently, Koshic wasn't taking any calls via telepathy and blcoked out his mind to outsiders. Thus resorting Vectra to contact him the old fashioned way. Vectra rubbed his head. It was a rather tough year for Koshic anyways, what with being held hostage by the Talon, encountereing the Squids and used as a key compoonnent for a planting killing Revelation Device on Axaia, which lead to the death of poor Hans. But, since Koshic was on duty he had to wait until he had time off to see Merri. Vectra did his best to see what he can do, but it didn't really get aywhere. Vectra sighed and replicated himself something to drink. It was just about then when a young red shirted ensign entered the sickbay. He made a beeline towards Vectra. "Ah, there you are sir" the ensign said with a salute. Vectra returned it. "Yes, may I help you?" asked he. The Ensign rummaged in his pocket until he extracted a PADD, then proceeded to hand it over to Vectra. "Here are your new orders sir. You have just been re-assigned to the Chief Operations of the Arcadia" Vectra thanked the ensign and read over his new orders. It was effective immediately and he was expected to report for duty on the bridge in his next shift. He felt bad leaving Merri alone like this, but.. what else can he do? He tried his absolute best to find Merri, and he did -- only Merri's not in her own mind, but rather Trichon's. but he did feel a bit better knowing that Trichon is now aware of his new unexpected ahh.. "passenger", after he contacted him telepathically. * * * Looking over his new orders once again, Vectra exited out of his quarters and to the turbolift, bound for the first time to the Bridge and not to Engineering. Have I even been to the bridge befre? Vectra asked himself. He can't remember ever setting foot in there. Anyways, though he was still trained in OPS in Academy so it's not like he didn't know what he was doing. On the contrary, Vectra did quite well in bridge functions, especially OPS since it's kind of similiar to Engineering. Once the lift reached the bridge, Vectra logged onto his console began his work as if he's been doing it for years. Vectra mainly kept transporter locks on the Away Team and helped the Ensign at Helm along his way. With the first part of their mission complete, the Arcadia crew found the USS Hunley, a Nebula Class starship constructed with the saucer section of the Galaxy Class Arcadia-D. Now, though, they've got to see what happened to the crew. On the Hunley, Vectra learned that the Away Team picked up one sole survivor. A ten year old boy, named Noah Rodriguez. After appearing to have restored ower to Hunley and it's main computer, the Arcadia team with young Noah in tow, beamed back to the Arcadia. They're next destinating being that planet nearby. As usual, Vectra started to have a bad feeling about this mission.
  13. Another update
  14. "In a Fitz!" Log entry 70 - 12 Back in Main Engineering, and working on the sensor arrays, Vectra watches on as Lt. Fitzgerald made his way to Trichon's Office. He had joked that Trichon was as mad as he had ever seen him, but in reality, he was quite sure it wouldn't get too bloody. Vectra had found Fitz lying on the holodeck unconscious when Trichon told Vectra to go fetch him. Originally thinking he was in some sort of holodeck accident, he later found out by Doctor Westler that it was due to exhaustion. The guy just fainted right then and there on the holodeck floor. Vectra shouldn't have been surprised by that. Over the past few weeks, Fitz never seemed to leave Engineering, and was spending a lot more time at the holodeck. He'd see Fitz the next day, with bloodshot eyes, and eyes so baggy he could probably fit a week of groceries in there. He didn't have to be a telepath to know that he wasn't getting his required seven hours of sleep each day. Vectra had worked on his project once before on the holodeck. He saw Fitz's bright, beady little eyes sparkle with determination as well as dedication to the work. It was his baby. ASPECT, (Artificial Special Program for increased Effeciency of Core Technology), as Vectra had unofficially named it, pretty much consumed him from that time on. It consumed him phsyically, mentally as well as timewise. Vectra supposes it was simply a matter of time, before he'd keel over from all that exhausting work. And now probably Trichon is in there chewing Fitz up about it. He probably could use a good chewing out, before Fitz works himself to death. Thinks Vectra. He looks back to Trichon's office and sighs. But just as he was about to resume his work on the seonsors, he catches the eye of Dr. Porter standing near the door in Main Engineering. He had met Dr. Porter once before on Lucienda II, and again at his phsyical exam not too long ago. Wondering what the doctor was doing in here, Vectra started a conversation with her whilst he worked on scrounging up free power to increase the efficiency of the Arcadia's sensors. He was quite happy to learn that she was here to escort Fitz back to his quarters after his talk with Trichon. Whilst she waited for Fitz, Vectra seized the oppurtunity to strike up a conversation with Dr. Porter. It was nice to have a bit of company whilst he worked, especially company that Vectra started to like baing around, and found to be quite charming. Vectra's work seemed to progress that much quicker, as he used Fitz's idea he gave Vectra on a PADD. It should increase the power of the sensors by 20%, according to Fitz. Wasn't like there was anything to lose anyways. So, with the company of Dr. Porter, Vectra helped to increase the sensor's effieciency. "Sure is taking awhile in there. Hope Fitz can survive Trich's wrath" said Vectra, with a chuckle as he continued on working on the sensors and chatting it up with the Doctor.
  15. "Galaxy Quest" Log entry 69 - 11 After a change of clothes and a quick sonic shower, Vectra returned to the Arcadia's Main Engineering after his away mission on Dentar. He was mildly surprised to find none of the senior officers present upon his return. Where they all went, Vectra didn't know. Relatively alone, Vectra logged onto his console and brought himself up to date on what the rest of the Engineers did in his abscence; which was tracking down the saucer section of the Arcadia-D. Vectra orginally thought the Arcadia-D was destroyed, but it turned out that the saucer section survived when it seperated from the ship section. According to the computer, it was left abandoned for a long time before being found again and salvaged for parts. A quick check found that the Arcadia-D's saucer section was now the new saucer section of the USS Hunley. Which would have been all well and good except that the old saucer is stillinfected with something. HAL, he thinks according to this. Some kind of weird Artificial Intellegence computer program. Anyways, the Arcadia-E currently is on a course to the Kuryushu Sector to find the Hunley, and probably take it back to Starfleet for a purging, since the program may face a bit of a risk of infecting the Hunely. After about twenty minutes of going through everything, Vectra was pretty much brought up to date in what was happening ship side. He performed a diagnostic on the sensor arrays and performed maintenance where needed. Upon completion, crew in Main Engineering was still pretty low, with only Trichon and Merri coming back, as well as visit from the Marine Captain Jacob. But noone could really find Fitz though, and eventually Vectra was sent out to find him. Failing twice to raise him via the comm-badge, he finally got his location from the computer. Being in Holodeck 2, perhaps he wasn't too surprised as to why he didn't answer, thinking he was probably either too into his program, or forgot to turn on his comm-badge. But more problems arose when the door failed to open for Vectra, have to manually over-rise it to get it open. After a few moment's search, he finally found Fitz lying on the floor unconscious. Heck if he knew why. Medical wasn't hardly his forté. He raised the doctors on the comm-badge and did what he could to help him until the doctors came by to help. Assuming it was just simply another holodeck accident, Vectra watched the doctors work on Fitz for awhile before heading back to Engineering. He didn't really know what the saucer was infected with, but it was their priority to either send it back to Starfleet or fix it themselves.
