  1. I've been a Trek fan for 16 years, and I try and get to a convention every few years or so but it depends on location and cost. My last one was 2001 in New York, the weekend before Monday, September 11 (still thanking my lucky stars I decided not to stay in New York to see the sites. :D) A 1993 con is a personal highlight - DeForest Kelley was a headliner, and I consider him "da bomb". Not only did I get to meet him, and have a short conversation (in which I was totally out of it with a bad case of hero worship - he seemed to understand me though lol) , he gave me a hug. :) Sasbas is right though - unless you are near a major city, where most of the cons come too, it's hard to locate one or even get to it. I would say my general con expereince is good.
  2. Congrats Ensign Falco.
  3. I started out on line about a year ago. My first game was Star Trek Elite Force 2 (good game btw). At that time I ran into gaming clans that played on line. Now, I totally understand what Tuvok is getting at : use a "live action" game for simming purposes. Gaming clans kind of do that anyway - ranks are in place for members, practices set up, free game time, and u get together, play, have fun, and use imagination. But as for using a game for simming on a regular basis? A FPS game like Elite Force wouldn't quite cut it. A ship tactical game like Starfleet Command 3/Armada/Bridge Commander and maybe even the upcoming MMORPG for Trek would work even better. You and peeps could get together and game for a night and then recount experiences in logs. Now, I have to admit, text simming like STSF offers WAY more imagination possibilites, and a "brain" workout, then on line games. :D Lotsa fun. However - Nice idea there Tuvok. EDIT: Oh thanks Tuvok for the EF2 map link - I downloaded it. Looks cool. LOL
  4. Happy B-Day Captain. Enjoy your day.
  5. The City of Philadelphia has been waiting to get back to the Bowl since 1980's loss to Oakland. Gotta go with the Birds. :D
  6. That is the best. I want one!! :D EDIT: All the products are neat, but my fav is the "Im not stupid, Im not expendable, and Im not going". Im sorta doubting that these products are offially licensed though.
  7. Oh okay. Thanks so much. didnt realize that.
  8. LOL/ I guess the <------------------------ was in wrong spot.
  9. I was a bit too young for the first BG. Now, I've been catching the old re - runs, and the original just doesn't do it for me. But, the new mini-series and series? I was liking what I saw. Good stuff. :D
  10. Computer Animation, my friend. DeForest Kelley Rocks!
  11. Dr. Leonard H. McCoy. As a doctor, he would most likely command a medical or research vessel. :D
  12. Going back to Semaj's original comment: Oh yes that would be da bomb if one of the ships from here showed up on Trek. It could be done by Enterprise - a cargo ship named Raeant / Manticore / Excalibur, a Romulan ship invading Earth space named Talon, or a renegade Klingon ship called IKC Qob/ Lakota. The writers could make it work. Now, having one of our names show up on a show? Or even one of our characters? That could be a little sticky. I mean, technically, all of these character Bios and our names - they are our own creation and information - so it's as if we have an unofficial copyright. Period. Even if Paramount was inclined to do this sort of thing, it would be wise for the legal department to ask first and call for volunteers among the STSF simmers for use of their characters or names. -Kansas
  13. So, STSF grew out of SFOL from AOL/AIM? And SFOL was really connected with Paramount then? And Paramount peeps may or may not have been observing for possible story ideas? ::Paramount Assistant 1 turns to Paramount Assistant 2:: A1: Okay, I was in the chat room as Ensign Batleth the other night, so its your turn. A2: Got it. I think I'll use the Lt. Blade name. I'll hang out and see what the simmers come up with. I think it's the USS Ix Nay on the Nam Ay simming tonite. ::Paramount Assistant 3 walks in:: A3: I'll check out the boards too. A good story idea might pop up there, too. ::Mission Impossible them plays:: :D -Kansas
  14. ;) ;) ;) whoa. 156 sims?? I stumbled across the forums back in July, thought about joining, "officially" joined November 21, and after 6 sims graduated December 6. Im sure all the GM's have experience enough to know when someone is ready correct? I am now posted to USS Hood and am now learning to advance sim :) . I was doing this: <AMO> after name, and told "You dont have to do that, we know who u are" LOL! I agree with what has been said: depends on a peep, some graduate after 5, 15, 20, 50 sims. U learn in the Academy. And of course, I wouldn't recommend typing something like this: <SCI> :: I grab a tribble, and bean the CO with it:: Not a good thing. :D
  15. Welcome. Have Fun.
  16. Sarah, Younger Sister of Tuvok, Not of the House of Clark. Qap'La! Welcome to STSF and have fun. This is a good place to be.
  17. Very good question. I think we would all enjoy seeing Trek continue Trekking in series and/or movies, but there is that possibility that both may stop at some point in the future. Then again, there also seems to be a cycle - interest in Trek lags for a few years, and then interest picks up again. At least, this is what I've noticed during my time as a Trek fan. We shall see.
  18. I was just recently posted to my new home **cough** USS Hood - Constitution Class Rocks !!**cough** ^_^ I eventually would like to join a second sim - How long typically is the wait \should I wait to apply for a second advanced sim?
  19. Hmm....I shouldn't have used "persuasion". ;) Note to self: STSF simmers will take wording and run like heck with it. I am Kansas Jones. I am female, and I play a female Caitian on Hood. ;) EDIT: thanks again for info regarding joining a second sim y'all.
  20. My Fav character is Dr. "Bones" McCoy from the original series. I love how he can be cocky, quarrelsome, and yet has that awesome bedside/caring manner ^_^
  21. Thanks for the info everyone. **recalls the flying mosquito spy bugs from the GM offices** And Dr. James **waves Hi** brings up a good point, considering my call sign "Kansas Jones" sounds...well...male. ;) I am indeed of the female persuasion in RL, and on the Hood I play a female Caitian. ;)
  22. STSF has a lot of the Trek Universe covered with the Diversity of the Sims : Original Series, TNG/DS9/VOY, ENT, A Klingon/Feddy ship, a Romulan ship - its all covered. Has the possibility of a Maqui based Sim ever been brought up? I've always enjoyed those rebel scoundrels. ^_^ :)
  23. Hmmmm. So, a Maqui sim would possibly only have a five to ten year time frame to function in? And, it would prolly get "old" after a while. LOL u could only go after the Cardassians for so long. ^_^ Thanks.
  24. Yep. 10+ years shows hard work and dedication, and Im new to on line simms, but I do know that setting up times, getting personnel, storylines all requires time to get a sim off the ground. Just curious about Maqui Sim mainly cause Ive never heard / seen it done on line yet.
  25. For the Rihannsu Galae Ship Talon: Happy Birthday, may qiuu continue having many conquests against the wretched lloann'na's!! **Salutes** ^_^
