  9. “Sweet Peas” Mona sat in sickbay with her face buried in her hands. She tried desperately to control her tears, but to no avail. She looked up at the biobed across from her and saw her grandmothers Minerva’s lifeless body. Mona’s once again closed her eyes to block out the image. “This can’t be happening. I knew she would leave one day, but it’s too soon.” Min had been such an important person in Mona’s childhood. In the months and years after her brothers betrayal Min had been a mountain of strength and the only thing Mona could trust. Mona sat in the garden of flowers with her eyes closed. She took in every fragrance hoping it might trigger a memory. But there was nothing. “Damn” she cursed under her breath as she swatted at a nearby flower. She stopped quickly sensing the older women behind her. “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have said that, its just so …what is the word?” Min gently smiled and replied, “frustrating”. Mona nodded silently as tears came to her eyes. “What do you do when you can’t recognize anyone one around you? And for that matter you don’t even know yourself. Who do you trust?” Mona’s voice became more frantic as she continued to talk. “How do you find the reason to go on when… I can’t even remember what happened a few months ago” Min let out a sigh and took a seat next to her young granddaughter, she gentle stroked Mona’s wild mane. “I know it is very hard for you, my darling. But is can only get better. Trust me. You will remember, it just might take a while. But know this, I am always here. Even if you can’t remember it…” she trailed off. Without warning Min’s voice began to resonate in Mona’s head. “You will always sense that I am here, in you mind. No matter what you do or what you remember, I will always be in here” She tapped Mona’s chest and finished her statement out loud “and here”. Mona forced a smile and gave the older women a hug. As she did this the smell of perfume filled Mona’s nostrils and she smiled “I love that smell, you always smell of sweet pea’s an old earth flower.” A smile spread across Minerva’s face. “See my darling, it’s all coming back.” As Mona’s mind returned to sickbay the smell of sweet peas filled her nose. She didn’t understand how that was possible, but looking up she once again saw her grandmother. Turning away Mona began to adjust her uniform because of the intense heat in sickbay…why was it getting hotter in here? Mona’s wiped her forehead as everything began to get darker. 10. It amazes me everytime something goes crazy in sickbay we go straight to quarantine. The worst part of it is that I have never been the one to call for that. Oh well. I am loosing my mind in the current plot anyway.
  11. This was the log that should have come out before last sim. “Is Anybody There?” Miranda sat in the small containment area. Everyone had stopped by to look at her although none seemed to be able to help. The boils were moving up her arms and she was starting to get nervous. Once again the warm sensation began starting at the tips of her fingers and working its way up towards her elbow. With every inch the fire burned hotter causing her pain that she could not even begin to describe. After a few moments it stopped and she tried to catch her breath. But with each passing shock wave it was becoming harder and harder. She staggered towards the containment field. “Hello…I need some help in here!” She cried out desperately, but her plea was met with silence. Her mind slowly drifted back to her childhood remembering a tune she had once heard. Miranda began to hum to herself. After a few moments she begin to sing out loud hoping the words would numb her pain. “Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody…” The burning was back and she was unable to finish. Looking at the containment shields through tears of pain she quickly made a rash decision. If she could not stop the pain she might numb herself to it at least. Miranda reached out and touched the shield. As she watched the colors of the energy field change she realized she felt nothing. Pulling her hand away she began to inspect it. There didn’t seem to be any damage but before she could do anything else the burning started again. She fell to the floor and cried out. When it finally stopped she looked back down at her hands. The boils seemed to be getting smaller, but though her daze it was hard to tell. Once again she reached for the shield. She held her hand there for as long as she could until the pain returned. This time the shock was so intense everything started to go black. The last thing she could remember was thinking, “I hope this works.” Miranda woke up on the floor. She didn’t know how long had passed but it had been quite some time. As she began to stand she looked around in somewhat of a daze. She looked down at her hands to see how far the boils had spread. To her shock they were no longer there. The energy from the containment field must have somehow neutralized the spread of the crystal entity though her body. She smiled slightly happy that she was still alive. Quickly looking around the room she searched for anyone, but found just the opposite. “Hello? Anyone?” She paused hoping someone would answer but no one did. Miranda sad down on the floor and began to think, “Is anybody there? Does anybody care?” Dr Miranda Porter Assistant Medical Officer

  13. A Coconut? How can anyone refuse it. I aready put in a past life submission. Am I in the running for a coconut prize? OH please say yes....please.
  14. “Fallen Tricorder” Miranda sat on the floor in the small containment room, she wrapped her arms around her legs to try and curl into a fetal position. Looking down at her hands she noticed the bumps spreading. She rolled up her sleeve and realized the marks were slowly moving up her arm. “Great, just what I needed.” She opened the tricorder that was sitting next to her and scanned herself. She said a silent thank you to whatever deity was listening that it had only reached her elbow and was moving slowly. Looking at the scan she noticed the residual crystal traces they had seen in the Faraway crew were dispersed through her hands. It was slowly morphing her DNA into… well she was not quite sure yet. Miranda started to rack her brains for anything that might giver her a clue as to what was happening. Suddenly her hands felt as if they were on fire. Then just a quickly it stopped and she dropped her tricorder. She reached down to pick it up but realized she could no longer feel or control her hands. Miranda began to shake, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths to try and calm herself. After a few seconds she opened her eyes and gazed down at her hands which were now completely covered in boils. She bit her lower lip and began to reexamine the reading on the fallen tricorder. “Those guys better get a piece of that thing because there is no way I am going down like this.” She thought. 17. Babysitting or Baseball? Mona sat in her office drumming her fingers against the desk. She had spent most of the last mission on lockdown in sickbay. The sitting and waiting was not what was getting to her though. It was thee fact that she was starting to feel like a babysitter and less like a department head. Medical had been short staffed for so long she had been very happy when she got the word of new arrivals. But as someone once said “Be careful of what you wish for.” Her new staff appeared in the form of Contagion, a young energetic new doctor fresh from the academy. And Delphi, and experienced physician who was back after some time off active duty. She hoped they would all learn from each other and meld into a tight knit group. Mona let out a sigh “It’s still early in the game. Anything could happen in the next inning.” They needed to become a team and stop arguing. But that was easier said than done. She would try and find a way though. One that hopefully didn’t involve anyone getting hurt. She chuckled to herself “Well if Delphi did take a swing at someone with that cane good thing we are all doctors… I wonder if he is any good at baseball?” Dr Desdemona Levy Chief Medical Officer
  18. I am good with two sims. Even then I get a bit lax when it comes to writing logs. I think I have long bouts of writers block. I fixed it so I hav both my sims right after another and that is enough to give me my fix for a week.
  19. I love... "Time line. This is no time to argue about time. We don't have the time. What was I saying?" Nothing like drunk Troi. That whole scene makes me laugh every time I watch it.
  20. “This Might Sound Crazy…” Mona stood in sickbay staring at the Romulan brain wave patters they had been asked to recreate. She shook her head thinking over the problem. How to simulate something so complex and unique. She watched Dr Contagion run a few more simulations before she let out a sigh. Quickly running her fingers over the console she began to readjust some of their calculations and then suddenly stopped. “Could we be over thinking this?” she said to no one in particular. The idea began to take shape in her mind. It seemed so simple but the real questions is would it work. All they had to do was to fool a computer. She paused a moment longer and then looked up to the rest of the sickbay staff. A smile slowly slid across her face as she began to talk. “This might sound crazy, but I think I have an idea that just might work….” Dr. Desdemona Levy Chief Medical Officer
  21. OH Grom, we missed you. Welcome back
  22. ::hands Harper, Murray and Precip cupcakes:: happy b-day you crazy people you. Hope you had a great day
  23. I love our little word of the week polls. But every time I see them I think to myself, who the heck voted for me, cuz it wasn't that good? Am I the only one who thinks that (and Jamie don't be a smarty pants and say just say yes). Why must polls be so mysterious. Darn you Harper and your polls ::shakes her fist in the air::
  24. I totally blanked that it has been a year. Blond moment (even tho I am not blond). Anyway it has been and eventful year, but sure fun. And to think I started out working for a fish and then he went to working for me ::evil laugh:: And jamie maybe this year we won't fight as much....then again maybe not
  25. “My Heart Misses You” Mona sat in her quarters looking over some new medical journals. She heard a small chime from the tabletop computer and brushed the padds aside and pulled up the communiqué that was coming in. A familiar face appeared on the screen. Mona smiled at her grandmother “Why hello Min. I have been meaning to call you.” The elderly Betazoid raised an eyebrow and said “Let me guess, my darling, you have been to busy.” Mona gave a slight nod, “I have just received some new crew and have been working on a few experiments, so things have been a little hectic. But I wanted to tell you about another memory I just found. It was about building a castle and the boys destroying it.” Minerva’s calm face gave no hint of emotion but Mona knew she understood. As she continued to talk Mona tried to remain calm. “I don’t understand Min, why is it always the sad or hurtful memories that come back.” Her grandmother gave a reassuring smile that did not do much to help the younger women. “I have told you my darling, this is a lifelong process. Your past will never come as easily as it does for others. Many of your memories have returned to you over the years, but there are still some that remain hidden.” Mona nodded, “Yes, I know your right. I guess sometimes a get a little to cocksure and think that my past won’t shock or hurt me as much. Then I brush the surface and realize I am still hurting.” Minerva gave her granddaughter a smile and said “You had the best doctors that have worked with you over the years and because of your inner exploration, you have found telepathic abilities that you never thought you could master. Be brave and know that I love you and will always help in any way I can.” Mona gave a weak smile “Thanks Min, you always know the right words to say.” With out missing a beat Min replied “I am a telepath darling, it comes with the territory.” “I wish I could talk longer, but duty calls. My heart misses you Min” The older women’s face softened “As does mine, my darling. Come visit me soon. My students would love to see you again.” With a smile and a nod Mona disconnected the communication. She had dearly missed her grandmother, who had been her strength during her amnesia. Mona thought, “I don’t know what I would have done without her. Heck she is taking care of me even as an adult.” Dr Desdemona Levy Chief Medical Officer
