  1. Senior Chief Petty Officer Martin Weedman Challenger Design Team Leader San Francisco, Earth July 25, 2154 With further interference from other cultures upon the NX-05 project, Starfleet is preparing to transfer me to Mars to continue work. I had pleaded to stay in San Francisco, but my requests were denied. However, the order for my relocation was given almost 2 weeks ago, and security is too tight. There is a possibility that I will still be relocated to Mars before NX-05 is launched, but the chances are now slim-to-none. All of my information is now second-hand. The design of Challenger was completed long ago, and all changes have already been submitted. For the most part, I have no more business with the NX-05 project. However, I plan to continue my talks with all 3rd-party companies associated with the NX- projects, to determine safe ways of gaining more cargo space and still carrying everything needed. This wouldn't go into effect until the next NX- ship is built, so I am no longer pressured for time. My duty here for Challenger is, for the most part, complete. From here on out, I sign papers... and watch the construction continue.
  2. INTERNAL TRANSMISSION { THIS MEMO IS INTERNAL TO STARFLEET. UNAUTHORIZED TRANSMISSION IS ILLEGAL. IF YOU RECEIVE THIS MEMO IN ERROR, DELETE IT AND NOTIFY THE ORIGINAL SENDER SO COMMUNICATIONS MAY BE CORRECTED. THIS TRANSMISSION IS DEEMED CONFIDENTIAL UNLESS RELEASED BY THE SENDER, THE RECEIVER, OR A COMMAND OFFICER OF STARFLEET. } FROM: SCPO Martin Weedman, Director of Starfleet Design TO: Commander Elias Moore, Challenger Project Foreman SUBJECT: Compliance BEGIN MESSAGE It has come to my attention that GE may be making some size changes to the warp engine for NX-05. I've heard a some talk "through the grapevine" about engine design. I have contacted Gunter Seiben regarding this, but he assures me there are no problems. Commander, can you have someone arrange a trip for me to GE headquarters, and see the official design myself? I'd like to check everything and be sure. Perhaps I just have a lack of trust, but I'd like to see for myself. Awaiting response... END MESSAGE Sincerely, Senior Chief Petty Officer Director of Starfleet Design, NX-05 Challenger Project
  3. FROM: Martin Weedman, Director of NX-05 Design TO: Gunter Seiben, NX-05 Warp Propulsion Project CC: Commander Elias Moore, NX-05 Project Foreman SUBJECT: RE: Size restrictions Very well. Size restriction status noted (no restictions made). We will not sacrifice the future due to size of the ship. The engineering section construction has not began yet, so minor changes to the design can be made. However, keep it reasonable. Don't go making changes and not telling Starfleet about it. We've been friends so far, but if the design we have currently fails, we'll be looking for a new aerospace company next time. Sincerely, Senior Chief Petty Officer Director of Starfleet Design, NX-05 Challenger Project
  4. MEMO: FROM: NX-05 Design TO: Gunter Seiben, NX-05 Warp Propulsion Project CC: Commander Elias Moore, NX-05 Project Foreman SUBJECT: Size restrictions BODY: Gunter, current information I have about the warp engine indicates it will fit in Main Engineering without any problems, and giving 4 meters of shielding from the Chief Engineer's Office (to the right of the engine). The office is suppose to be 8x8 meters. Does this fit current calculations for the engine specifications? Recent reports coming from your office indicate the Engine Room must be enlarged by 2 meters squared to allow the newest Starfleet engine monitor systems to be included. If the most recent calculations are correct (and the engine room must be enlarged 2 square meters), then the CENG office will have to either be moved or made smaller. Your decision. The area across the hall from the engine room is suitable for the CENG office, as it is a minor storage area. That can be moved into the engine room. Sincerely, Senior Chief Petty Officer Director of Starfleet Design, NX-05 Challenger Project
  5. Senior Chief Petty Officer Martin Weedman Challenger Design Team Leader San Francisco, Earth June 10, 2154 With due regrets, I have been promoted to Director of Starfleet Design. Senior Chief Petty Officer Givens has been reassigned to Director of Starfleet Communications, and I have moved up the command line. We are quickly approaching final design decisions for NX-05, and I would rather not be the one people come running to during problems. However, I have accepted the position in hopes of continuing my Starfleet career. In the mean time, more paperwork has been placed in my direction. THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUESTS MADE BY STARFLEET TO BE CONTAINED IN THE NX-05 DESIGN Note: The following design changes are preliminary. Attention: All design information for NX-05 will become official June 30, 2154. No changes may be made after that time unless ordered by a senior official within the Challenger project command chain. The inner portion of the saucer section of NX-05 is almost intact. Up to date information about the construction status may be found here. REQUEST I: -Outer connection module for Scientific exploration, capable of being left for research for an extended period of time (up to 6 months). REQUEST II: -Emergency seperation explosive devices on docking rings, to seperate from unauthorized docking. END REQUEST Note from Weedman: All construction staff are to run diagnostics on their construction ships. Remember to check construction nodes. All questions should be directed to construction team leaders. If future questions arise, direct them to the Design Team.
  6. Starfleet Personnel File Martin Weedman, Ph.D. RANK Senior Chief Petty Officer POSITION Director of Starfleet Design SEX Male BIRTHDATE July 25, 2127 PLACE OF BIRTH San Diego, California HEIGHT 6' 1" WEIGHT 155lbs. EYE COLOR Green HAIR COLOR Brown EDUCATION Masters in Architectural Design, Masters in Aerospace Engineering, Starfleet Command Training (Enlisted) TEACHING STATUS Professor of Starship Design, Director of Starfleet Design Division on Earth FATHER Commander Phillip Weedman, Ph.D., Vice-Director of Fleet Operations (Ret.) MOTHER Jade Stone, Civilian, Starfleet Design Analyst (Ret.) SISTER Ensign Emily Weedman, Fleet Operations Assistant PERSONAL INFORMATION Martin Weedman was born July 25, 2126 in San Diego, California. He grew up wanting to follow in his mother's (Jade Stone) footsteps, and becoming part of the Starfleet Design team for future projects. His mother had been an analyst for NX-01, and several unmanned missions in between. When discussions about NX-05 began to get heated at the conference table, Jade removed herself from the team, and retired from Starfleet. Martin's father, Phillip, resigned his position as the Vice-Director of Fleet Operations in 2142, and moved to Florida. Martin enlisted in Starfleet the same year, and remained in California. Martin's sister, Emily, went into the Starfleet Academy in the same year (2142), and graduated in 2146. She is currently serving under Fleet Captain David Williams, Director of Fleet Operations, as an assistant. As Martin continued his work toward being a part of the NX- design team, he quickly realized his vision of future ships was impossible due to current Engineering possibilities. Martin had decided to begin taking Engineering classes, so he would be capable of creating ships that were both structurally sound and appealing to the eye. He had successfully done this, given his current position in Starfleet as an enlisted officer. He studied non-stop, and hurried his education to learn as much as possible in as little time as possible. His social life is small, but he does have several close friends. Martin has good character, however he does attempt to do everything himself. Unfortunately, Martin does not present anyone, not even his closest friends, with full trust for information or trust the job was done correctly without being checked for quality himself. In the end, most design changes and additions to current designs are addressed to Martin, and he (along with a specific, chosen team of both designers and engineers) makes the final call about design specifications. Martin Weedman is currently leading the Engineering Design team for the NX-05 Challenger project. TIMELINE February 2142: Enlisted into Starfleet. February 2142: Given rank of Seaman Apprentice (SN).
