  1. Ens. Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Log Entry Eli found himself clueless as to what was happening to the station, even with all the clues around him ... how ironic. He was sweating bullets and expending much energy in thinking and screaming at the engineers around him. The Chief was in main core finding out the root cause of their problem. Lt. Cmdr. Brown was trying his hand at containing this root cause with his "ROACH" program. He looked around at V'Ran and Cheatle then himself, they were all sweating, maybe not V'Ran, and stressed like an elastic band, again ... maybe not V'Ran. Vulcans. Eli thought, admiring such control a Vulcan has in a stressful situation like this, he was about to tear open the systems himself to find the problem but V'Ran of Vulcan was calm and ... Cool. Whats the matter with you today Eli? The voice in his mind gently asked. What? Thats nothing WRONG with me! Eli Stubbornly argued. He ignored that voice and focused on the problem, 5 roots, 3 dead ends, 2 openings. What was the connection? Eli strained a nerve at thinking but it got him somewhere. He opened his thoughts to the voice again. Could this problem have more than one root? He asked, the voice did not answer. It can't be ... but ... he stopped at the thought and looked at both Cheatle and Vran's screens. The first, second, third, they look ... Yes! They do, the hardware ... the emitter ... could it be? He snapped out of it and blinked, obviously this stress was getting to him. He concluded to the voice. Its Telepathically linked........ The voice fought back. It is? Or is it just an illusion? Eli blinked and placed the voice on ignore again. He was determined to find it. No matter what.
  2. Ensign Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Log Entry SD 50407.27 A clunk was heard in main engineering, Eli jerked his head around and saw the source of the noise - 3 engineers hoisting equipment on to an antigrav. He felt relieved and turned back to his work to fix the station which seems to be falling apart from the nuts and bolts and screws. He thought he heard voices and he thought he heard people talking about ghosts. Ensign Rogers and Lt. Wilson were walking around main engineering a few minutes ago, mentioning that the station is haunted. Eli Shivered, the cold pulse from the environmental controls slid up his spine and touched his brain and stretched out cold claws and felt his nerves being stroked. He jerked again and turned around, no one was behind him, the engineers were done with their antigrav and it was just standing there, waiting its next task. Eli looked to his right, a tool box laid open, another tool box with an engineering laying on the ground, replacing damaged relays to the left. He abandoned his console for a moment and backed to a bulkhead. The dampness of it sent havoc of fear into his mind. What if a supernatrual being was here? What if it really was a ghost? What if .. it was going to get him ... torture him, play klingon opera ... and slip his essence from mind to matter. He blinked at the thought and attempted to gather himself up, but failed. Another voice in his mind took over control of those thoughts. Paranoia? The voice asked. Eli nodded to no one. There's no need to worry, there is no such thing as ghosts. The voice continued. But Eli took no comfort in the voice's words. Are you sure about that? The station is dimmed, its cold, half the doors don't open half the computers playing on-hold music and .. blue screens of death ... Eli thought, remembering his console display an error message he never would have expected to see. A blue screen ... module error at this corridinates and this multiply by that, the numbers were clear but the image was there. Eli trempled as another cold wave of air raised the goosebumps on his skin as well as the hairs. He was scared out of his wits, he wanted to scream, to call for help, to get out of this Hell Hole but he couldn't, he wouldn't and he shouldn't. Aegis means protector and they were needed to protect Aegis and fix her vital systems, restore order to this computer sabotaged chaos. This gave Eli encouraging thoughts but no matter how hard he tried suppressing it, the bottomline thought of fear was still present, It laid in the shadows. Eli backed off the bulkhead and took a look around, he didn't see a space station or a home but a nightmare, one that he intends on waking out of. He tapped his wrests and felt the response from them, notting the environment wasn't THAT cold yet. He walked slowly back to the computer console and laid his fingers upon a button. Nothing Happened. Eli closed his eyes and listened, the computer was running millions of calculations per second but still it is powerless with out energy. He listened. He felt more cold wind as the aft engineering door opened with a hiss of stress. The miniture wind whispered in his ear, he listened. There was no words but only meaning, fear. Fear the wind, fear the station, fear the surroundings. Eli heard the meaning and turned around and yelled. "Who's there?" He quivered. A young woman looked at Eli with accusing gaze. "Something wrong ensign?" She inquired. Eli looked away and shook his head, in shame. "I'm sorry ... I thought i heard something. But ... it was just the wind." The young Lt. nodded her condolences for his stress. "Don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of this." Eli nodded. "I hope so, this station is turning more more into a nightmare and less and less like my home." "Follow your instincts, fellow those gut feelings, trust your self, fear is nothing if you face it with light and courage." Eli turned around at this amazing speech but it was too late, the Lt was gone. Courage I have little, Light i have none, main power is fluctuating and i suspect sabotage, wow i'd make a good investigator. He mused, feeling better. A minute later Eli found himself again in the same environment 3 minutes ago, the front door opened with a hiss and cold air rushed through his senses. It jolted himawake. Back to reality ... where fear lives in the shadows around you.
  3. Indeed .... indeed .... indeed ..... indeed.... Tist is a sad day eh. Rest in peace Mr. Goldsmith.
  4. Ensign Eli Zhu Log Entry SD 50407.22 Eli sat down in a corner in main engineering attempting to embrace his thoughts and emotion. The computer just reset it self but nothing showed just yet, Eli was concerned gravely, it could have been his fault it might have been his fault. Eli blinked then looked at the computer console he was working at. Perhaps i did do something wrong. Perhaps i pressed a wrong button, a wrong command maybe or even delete a command file by accident. Eli took a deep breath and trempled, the coolness of engineering was not comforting, it only added more strain on Eli's hightened senses. His eyes widened and his left hand shook. No, not again. He fought his left hand with his right and pinned it down on his lap, the left hand refused to give. A panicing Eli Zhu applied more strength on the struggling hand then it finially gave and cooperated to his will. He shivered. He was surprised, he remember he hasn't done that in ages - shivering, of coldness, fear or even his own area of darkness in his mind. He stop thinking all together and focused on the task - fix the station, help to find the saboteur. But how could he? How could he repair something while his hands shook uncontrollably at its own will? How could he enter the right command keys while his fingers wouldn't cooperate? No! Stop thinking like that, just stoping thinking all together! His phyche yelled in fear. If you're going to help save this station, you'll stop and think of nothing but that goal and you will focus on it. What? How can that be? What voice was it speaking to him? Eli was jolted to awareness by a passing Vulcan security officer, he looked interesting - familiar. Your mind is wandering. Keep focused! The voice within shouted. Eli Obeyed and stood up and walked back to the constrols and continued his work. The voice within him guided him but where would it lead him?
  5. Ens. Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Engineering Report Regarding recent sensor failure Eli quickly tapped the console on deck 6 and changed the encryption of all sensor access terminals throughout the station. In an attempt to stop who or whatever is doing this to the station. His eyebrow went up as he saw the sensor resolution drop further below specified norms, it was impossible who or whatever is doing this is a very very very skilled saboteur or something just as deadly. Deadly, was that the word he was looking for? He thought. Of course with out the station's internal and external sensors it was blind and could be taken over with much ease. Was that the sense he was getting right now? On the edge? He didn't know. He tapped the final sequence on the screen encrypting every access terminal on the station perhaps that will stop the mysterious deactivation of the sensors. But it was too soon to tell. Too soon to the know the damage. Who knows what else has been corrupted, weapons? Alarms? Antimatter containment units? Or even the docking ports and air locks wouldn't be safe. Heck nothing is safe on the station anymore. With the security teams all around still this failure of equipment continues. He tapped on the screen again and accessed the sensor grid. He saw it, the whole thing - dark spots all over sensors disabled or disconnected. Too many to be a malfunction now it had to be sabotage. The console in engineering, yes that could be the key to stop him or her .. or it. Packing up his equipment, he ran at his best back to main engineering hopefully to be useful and help uncover what was happening to his home. His home even if it was only a few weeks ago where he sat his foot on the station.
  6. Now i like "Of all things i could have tripped on, it had to be a rock."
  7. Ensign Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Log entry Eli got off duty an hour ago and now he was in his quarters, he tapped upon a light panel and switched on all the lights in his bedroom and kitchen. This created a creepy stage two lighted areas and an conduit of darkness in the middle. Eli had not idea why he does this; everyday, get off duty, get to his quarters and create this strange creepiness in his own home. He was worried, something was on his mind. He sat on the couch in the darkness and slumped into it. Two new engineers were assigned to this station but where were they? Where were they when the sensor array melfunctioned? He knew this sort of delay had always occur but he was still worried. Eli closed his eyes and laughed. He hadn't worried about any thing since academy finals, about how to finish his academy years with flying colors and he did. He flipped through the past. He worried when his brother wandered off into the woods during the summer. But nothing else. In his entire life, he hasn't worried about any thing but why now? why did he worry about new arrivals that seems to be missing? He thought about this and he began to piece together the puzzle. He remembered a certain Trill cadet telling him something about life, he remembered it clearly as yesterday's lunch. "Thats the trouble of life, it can end when you least expect it. And i'm not just saying this because itis said everywhere else. I say it because its from the heart and mind that is still true." What did she mean? Eli was confused. But he knew what she had meant. Maybe that was why he was concerned about the new arrivals. The roster may have their names in it. Biographies may have their image and character in it. But in reality they weren't here, not in flesh and blood. Perhaps that was why it scared the heck out of him so badly. Or perhaps it was that he had no friends aboard his new home yet. An epiphany strucked his conscience, that was it, he was lonely. With the cardassians bickering about power and government, station systems falling apart plus a murder case and change of command, He never realized it. He had no friends at all, what about chief Demor? Chief Demor scares him to death whenever that voice calls out "Report to my office". Eli looked around in the darkness, only two sources of light blinked in the distance, it resembled his soul; his quarters resembling Aegis, the kitchen resembling his family on earth and he was in between. In the darkness without friendship. In the darkness guided only by voices spoken from his past. He doesn't know how long he would stay in this darkness but for now it seems like an lifetime but only 20 hours had past since the last. Eli stood up and reached for the light panel again and switched on the remainder of the lights the darkness vanished, the hole plugged. He looked up at the photon emitters. Artificial, it was only technology producing this light, the darkness in his soul remained to be filled. With various emotions, for the most part, courage and friendship. He tapped again and his surroundings ceased to exist.
  8. Ensign Zhu Assistant Engineer Log Entry Eli ran a full analysis on the Vincent, the Miranda class vessel docked for repairs, the analysis did not show much damage however there were still a few spots to be covered. Eli turned his neck and noticed the crack that came with it. It wasn't surprising, he and his engineering team had been working on this ship for ... he couldn't remember. The time seems to fly when repairs were going so swiftly. He looked around while hearing cracks whenever he turned his neck, he noted the repairs on that faulty external sensor has been fixed now relaying data. "Ok every one, retire and let the beta repair shift finish this." Zhu called to the engineers via comm. He exited engineering with a full report on the progress of the repairs and proceeded to the docking port. He crossed over to the Aegis and scretched. It wasn't helping his body for the fact that the jefferies tube were so small. He was still a bit stiff can couldn't laugh. He walked towards a TL and entered it. "Main Engineering." Said a groaning Zhu. The Lift begun its decent. seconds later it opened to the deck and he stepped off the TL. He stepped in to Main engineering, it was quiet. He walked to the storage locker and placed his kit in it for his next shift. Then he proceeded straight to his quarters. Once he stepped through his quarter's doors he heard something. At first it sounded like music, as he walked closer to the window he was in error it was just a parkled ship entering warp. He shook his head and rubbed his face, he could not explain it, it sounded music. Something familiar, from his childhood. He sat down on his couch, which is cleared of his dress uniform, and tapped on his personal computer. He accessed his personal data base. He looked through the titles of all his favourite songs but none jumped out. He sighed and laid back. There it was again! He looked up and saw another starship jump to warp. He sighed and slumped back but he still had full view of his window. There, he waited and waited and waited. But the music never came again. "Have I losted it already?" He asked the room but it came no answer. Perhaps he was lonely or home sick. But how did the feeling manifest it self into a familiar tune? He didn't what he heard or what origin it was from. He was sure he must find it. It seemed to be a part of his soul now and he must protect it. From being forgotten. He continued to stare at the window. Waited ... and waited ... and waited ..
  9. Mid. Eli zhu Log Entry SD 50406.23 Eli opened his tool box and the panel on the control tower though the smell of officer's feet wasn't pleasing, the thought of dress uniforms was worse. Eli was glad he was out of those tight collars and .. well, tight every thing. He stretched his Shoulders just to be sure that there blood flowing through them. He took out his tricorder and scanned the interior of the consoles. The officers didn't mind standing. After he had finished, he stood up and ran a complete diagnostic on all Control Tower systems. A few minutes later he was done, the computers were set to original settings, and no problems were found. Eli looked at the console and grinned at it, knowing one day their trick of masking their stubbornness will lose effect and they would show their true nature as computers. Eli Stepped on to a Turbolift and called for officer quarters. He felt better knowing that Aegis was safe and the ceremony was safetly conducted, albeit a silly scheme since change of command wasn't as ceremonious aboard ships as he saw while taking a tour. But he always welcomed ceremonies with nice food and drinks and a big crowd. Perhaps it was a bit too big. He thought, remember the cramp levels where alot of people were moving around. The Lift door opened to the deck and he stepped off and walked towards his quarters. He entered his quarters and looked around, noting the dress uniform wrinkled and out of shape on the couch, the uneaten food he replicated during his reading and numerous other things that were just as they were when he left. He smirked. He knew it was funny that he remembers where exactly things were left and the slightest change would scare him, a adopted trait from a friend who always lost things. He dropped like a log and slumped into the couch and tapped on a small computer screen to his left. "Computer, display all data regarding ... class of 81st." He waited patiently. He would have pounded on the computer if he had more strength in him but he was too exhausted with moving with station operations. His limp finger tapped twice to his chemistry class and view the people who were once his Class mates and friends. He looked through all the pictures and names and found his friend, a bit older than him but nevertheless as young and inexperienced as he was. "Good 'ol Erias heh." He said to the computer as if it would have responded with a laugh. "Oh, right, computers can't laugh ha ha ha." He laughed lightly and lglanced at the young Trill on the screen, reading her biography, remembering that he read the same lines, 4 years ago. It took a while for Eli get remember the faces and voices of all the cadets back in the academy but he remembered them all, most vividly the musicians. Eli slump further back into his dress uniform and comfortable couch. He remembered one summer when he invited a few of his chemistry buddies to his dwelling. It was just a simple apartment with 1 large room accompanied by 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, nothing fancy but completely sufficient. One room was his parent's and one was his and his brother's. Eli smirked as his eyes slowly close under the exhaustion. The image of his home sprang to life in his mind. The bunk bed, the clarinets and hundreds of pages of sheet music lying around. He remembered 3 days later during that summer, he invited nearly all his chemistry class mates and a professor to his home for a music recital. Eli grinned and laughed at the memory. "Computer, play stamitz's Clarinet Concerto #3, third movement, half volume please." He was amazed, he actually said "Please" to the computer. He chuckled, the music came on softly. Eli began to hum with the rythmn. In his mind it was not the computer playing the music but his brother, swinging and leveling and taking in quick breathes as he went. He was talented for a 16 year old, very talented. He never missed a note, or a beat, always in tempo. "Man, he could count in his head." He said to the ceiling. Remembering the time he spent to concentrate on count 1, 2, 3, 4, over and over again with noise blaring at all directions. He laughed at him self picking up that memory, he still hasn't been able to block the distraction and remain focus on counting the time. Some things never change. He thought. His exhaustion took effect with the music. Eli lost hold of his wounderful teenage memories and fell asleep, just as the clarinet concerto concluded on his computer. The only thought that lingered, what happened to the rest of the faces in his memories? What became of them? Like Anari where did they go? His subconscious began to ask itself, being on a space station would being away from friends on other ships ... and your brother on earth. The rest of questions were as intelligable as snores.
  10. Midshipman Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Personal Log SD 50406.13 Eli walked out of his chief's office, informed that he will be attending a special ceremony or something, he couldn't remember even for that brief moment. He walked into a nearby Turbolift and entered. "officer quarters." He said into the computer and waited. A few seconds later the door opens and he stepped out and walked towards his quarters. Many things were going through his head. He thought the Aegis would be a nice quiet station to work on but he was definitely wrong. Walked past an officer who nodded at him. The past terrorist attack on Cardassian Prime really poked his mind. It made him think about the world that seemed to be falling apart at the seems. He found his quarters and walked in. He found his things that were they were suppose to be, clarinet on the desk, music on a stand to the right of his bed, padds littered on the floor. Yup all where they were suppose to be. He thought. Except for one. "Hey, what did my reed go?" He asked his desk, but it gave no answer. Eli lowered himself onto the floor and searched around for that Reed. He did not know why or what compelled him to crawl on the floor just to find a expendable reed. It was true that he could have just replicated another. However he did not. Eli Crawled under the bed, caught sight of something resembling a plastic carrying case. He crawled towards it, his body now under his bed, his hand caught something else beside a box. Eli Jolted upward. "Ow!" He exclaimed, this was not one of many times which he had touched something he could not see, it surprised him more than he thought. He rubbed his head and pulled himself and the padd out from under the bed. He read the padd and knew exactly what it was. The cardassian terrorist attack report he had download from the news console but neglected to read the full detail of it. He took a good 10 minutes to flip through the information. Terrible lost of life, destroyed in a brutal way, vaporization. He thought putting the padd on to his desk next to the lying clarinet. The rescent events had really told Eli what was going on with his assignment, Aegis was a important installation, and alot of things went on here, ships docked here, people went to Drankums. It only had occur to him that he was among one of the luckiest in starfleet to be posted onto such an extrordinary station. A station of multidersity for crew, people, inhabitants as well as technology. Indeed it was a Ferengi power generator he saw when he was touring a part of the station, he hadn't been daydreaming. Eli looked around and found the picture frame with the image of him with his brother, Kai. The attack on Cardassian prime reflected gravely on him in his own mortality. He was human and his brother was human. He realized something, that a life could end at any time. Eli took his hand and wiped his face with it slowly. Trying to clear his conscience and to the more importants things at hand. The station and Cardassian Prime. Eli stared at his room. It seems that Cardassia was becoming more and more like Germany during World War 2 in terran history, treaty of versaille in world war one had restricted Germany's military power and left the country in rubbles. Eli saw a historic parallel to their current situation. Cardassian military was restricted and now, the post dominion time, Cardassian terrorists had sprang up, to destroy life? Eli couldn't help but laugh at the Cardassian terrorists. But soon that laugh turned to fear then to anger. Eli didn't know the current cardassian developement until now. He had mixed feelings about the people his friends so called "spoon head". Eli had never saw a Cardassian in his life, everything he was taught were either rumors or previous encounters, but now hearing this report, in the padd on his desk. He felt angered by this terrible disregard of life. But he felt insanely sorry for them as well, Cardassians killing Cardassians. "HA! Pathetic, sad, propostrous!" He yelled to the room, and the room echoed his words back. His eyes laid on an object on the floor towards the kitchen, but his thoughts were still active, he couldn't recognize the object. Cardassians, killing other Cardassians? In the name of what? What good would come from it? Eli thought, it seemed to be a paradox, one side fighting another, but one side is evil and other side is also evil? What was this? Were the terrorists blaming the government and using it as a scapegoat for its excuse for destruction? Those people in there still had their rights! Now Eli was very angry, he stomped towards the kitchen and picked up the plastic carrying case and looked at it. "So there you are." He said, emotions had simmered down to a mere boil of the nerves. He walked back and placed the reed on the padd and walked to the closet and got out his newly ordered dress uniform. He looked at the uniform and sighed. "what have i got myself into this time."
  11. Midshipman Eli Zhu Assistant Engineer Personal Log SD 0405.24 Eli Paced the deck platings of the USS Pandora's Box, pondering the moments of the past half hour, reminiscing about what he was told and advices from his Chief. True it was confusing, and everything had gone so fast, but Eli enjoyed this challenge. He looked around Main Engineering, noting the engineers hard at work. Boy, i thought i was going to be stationed on my new home, the actual station, not aboard the ship. He thought as he scanned through the various schematics of Pandora's Box. He knew this ship was there, but he never thought that he would have had a post aboard it. The saying "The Possibilities are Endless" popped into his mind. I should have paid more attention in that seminar. He said to the console as he tapped rapidly away. So be it Pandora's Box is also my new home now, i'll do every thing i can to ensure your survival. He said and felt the smoothness of the Console. His mind was flying away at warp speeds, but most of his attention was directed at the console in front of him. I love this feeling, the great unknown, the advantures up to come. He thought. The Warp core hummed away as Eli explored his new found friend and home aboard the Norway Class vessel, enjoying the experience of his first assignment.
  12. I think, just be there, contribute to the plot, follow Gm guildelines, follow plot, kill cadets, and always eat a donut ;)
  13. Whoa, but hard.
  14. I would like "The Fixer Man"
  15. LOL!!!!
