  1. I think the boards are great just the way they are!! The navigation is clear and it's easy to see new posts, read threads, follw conversations, etc. And the way the newest are at the top age the older threads down naturally!!
  2. =/\= MANTICORE BRIEFING #242, STARDATE 50301.27 =/\= The Manticore has rescued it's away team and is holding station outside the orbit of Citadel 18. The Team, and the Assault force sent to rescue it, are now in Sickbay being treated for the emergency landing of the Griffin. Engineering staff, having gotten over their grief, are starting to work on the repairs to the Griffin, Wyvern AND Shuttle Bay 2. The senior staff will be meeting, once Eason and Roget are fit to leave Sickbay, to discuss the situation on the ground. =/\= END MANTICORE BRIEFING #242, STARDATE 50301.27 =/\=
  3. Yes, it is still an official thingy. I don't know why it is without the GM. Just remember to water down the booze and get the Ferengi to pay for their drinks in advance! (we'll get it covered, thanks!)
  4. ::Sitting in his Ready Room, angrily arranging his PADDs and data crystals, one of the PADDs slides off his pile and he picks it up and throws it across the room:: aaAAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!!! The Universe must think I'm some sort of punchline!!! ::deep sigh:: Ahhhhh, who am I kidding, the Universe doesn't care about me, it's not about me, it's about.... ::presses membrane button on his desk:: Computer, Open Personal Log, Commodore Atragon-9, Commanding Officer, USS Manticore, NCC-5852, password ********* {whirr, click} We've... I've... ::deep breath:: Our mission to Citadel 18 has been less than spectacular. Our first reconnaissance told us that an outside force was aiding the locals with their weapons development. We then found out that an Intell officer, a Colonel Kurtz, was the source of the aid and particularly evil person, as known by Claire Eason. Stupidly, I allowed my eagerness of being back in the saddle again to cloud my better judgment. I let Claire take a small team down to contact Kurtz and discover his motives and plans. ::sigh:: What *WAS* I thinking?? They were contacted all right - they were captured. Claire was able to get Margaux Roget back to the ship but she and Dr. Faldorn were held prisoner on the surface, behind a dampening field that we could not penetrate. Margaux led an assault team down to rescue our team and, after some trouble, they were able to rescue the two of them. Faldorn was in pretty bad shape and they were rushing back to Manticore... when their cloak failed. They were fired on from the ground and nearly destroyed. Margaux was able to crash the Griffin back into the bay, but it was a very hard landing and it totaled both the Griffin AND the Wyvern, waiting in the same bay. Most of the assault team were injured in the crash, but Sovak tells me that they'll all live. He said that Claire was saying something about killing Kurtz, but I'll wait for the debriefing to find out. We have pulled away from the planet and will decide our next move once I get a better sense of what happened down there and what the first team can tell me of the situation on the ground. Why do I feel that it was all a waste of time and precious resources? Why do I wonder if someone at Intell has picked up Melville's torch and are continuing their campaign against Manticore? Is he laughing from his grave, knowing he set many operatives in motion on his behalf and Kurtz is one of them? Or worse yet, that Kurtz was working for Intell and this wasn't the strange behavior we came to check on. I guess asking for greater communications in Fleet Intelligence is a silly hope, isn't it? ::flips on his desk console:: Frak, look at that bay!! First, we heal the people, then we heal the machinery... ::looking down at his exoskeleton suit-covered arm:: and how do I heal the human machinery?? Computer, EOM, EOT {whirr, click}
  5. Yes, you found it right away, didn't you!? The Ready Room is a second room for STSF's use at StartTrek.com. Soon we will start to shift some of the Advanced sims into that room and leave the Academies in the Holodeck room. As for more Academies, that will happen as we get more GMs trained, so the new room won't give you new Academies yet, but they are coming. Thanks!! 6. To follow up on Garnoopy's comments, if you're just talking about your startrek.com name for the actual sim, then you can do that yourself, at any time, by registering with a new name over there. If you're just speaking about your name for posting messages here, however, then Garnoopy had it right and just let the Webmaster know here to have your posts changed. Thanks.
  7. Oh yeah, she's ready to be a GM, you can hear it in her posts, eh??? (Be afraid, be very afraid!)
  8. =/\= MANTICORE BRIEFING #241, STARDATE 50301.20 =/\= The Manticore is in orbit around Citadel 18, where intelligence had been alerted to a possible threat. We have discovered an ordnance testing area with weapons being used that are too advanced for the population's current stage of development. A member of Starfleet Intelligence, Col. Kurtz, was spotted with the locals running the tests, this is someone Col. Eason does NOT trust. An away team of Eason, Roget and Faldorn returned to the surface to find out more, but they were discovered and only Roget was able to return to the ship before being detained. She is now preparing an assault team to return to the surface and free Eason and Faldorn. =/\= END MANTICORE BRIEFING #241, STARDATE 50301.20 =/\=
  9. I wish I could figure out what's not working for you, Xiang. I just came out of the Academy in the Holodeck room. There were 18 players in there and although we had some troubles getting in (yes, it's better than before but still being worked on by PeopleLink), we had a good stable environment for those attending. It might be the Mac interface with the Java applet. You should make sure that you are using a recent version of Java. I believe that Rob and HD posted a link to the online location for that. Good luck and I hope to see you simming with us soon!! Atragon-9Forum Leader - Star Trek™ Simulation Forum USS Manticore CO (Mon) Starfleet Academy XO (Wed)
  10. ::sighs again and takes out PADD:: W-E-B-M...
  11. Gee, that sounds like Fred volunteered, doesn't it?? Thanks Fred!
  12. Ahh, one last addition to my posting of earlier about Vegas. The idea of a Shore Leave - West is not a convention (the one in Baltimore is a con) - it's just a weekend to come to Vegad, enjoy the display of modern decadence and enjoy meeting friends and doing Star Treky things. Thanks.
  13. The Shore Leave thingy is a Star Trek, etc. fan convention held in the suburbs of Baltimore, MD every summer (this coming summer is the 25th). Many of the charter members of STSF were also members of another group that would (for an unknown reason) gather at Shore Leave every year to meet in person. Some of us have been attending this con for 6-7 years! Anyway, some thought was given to possibly having a meeting in Las Vegas, at the hotel that hosts The Star Trek Experience, this coming year. So, that's the whole... thingy.

  15. You sure you don't mean his Viagra? ::still sighing and scribbling in his PADD:: ... b-a-s-s Yup, that'll do it!
  16. No improvement, huh? ::sighs:: ::scribbling in his PADD:: d-u-m-.....
  17. I'm not sure if my calendar is off by a few months, but I think november was a longgg time ago Ooops, yes, the date is wrong, but the announcement is current. Starting this week, the Lounge moves to an hour earlier and STSF Lightning will be running the joint! Thanks.
  18. Ahh, a fair observation, but how many of us look like Britney Spears, either? (besides my hair resemblance, yes?)
  19. Paramount contacted us today to let us know that they are working, this week, with the software company that developed the chat rooms. They are aware of the problems and will do everything they can to fix them quickly. Thank you. Atragon-9Forum Leader - Star Trek™ Simulation Forum USS Manticore CO (Mon) Starfleet Academy XO (Wed)

  21. and the other half related to my theoretical hair loss, yes.
  22. ::sharpening his dagger:: Desperate, am I??? Ayup, ayup!! That's why they're called surprises!! And as for surprises, if you don't tell security you're gonna start on their gelpacks before you begin... now THAT will give you a surprise!! Heh-heh, Good log, Garnoopy. -Commodore A9
  23. Ahem! Sorry to flip into "Dad" mode here for a sec, but can we tone down some of the language here? There are words being used and "place" references being written about that are not appropriate. We need to back off from the edge before posts get removed for content. Thank you, resume bickering. ::backs away quickly:: A9
  24. I have asked the folks at StarTrek.com to look into this problem ASAP. As soon as I find out any information, I will pass it along. Thanks for your patience while they figure this out. Atragon-9
  25. And someone else decided that I'm bald. Not sure where that came from, as I'm not bald, but it's better than being called ugly or stupid or fat or short or having bad breath or three eyes or fangs or... or... or... (By the way, no one can now use these about me, now that I have - So There!) ::sigh::
