  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! (I think he just joined in time for us to all sing to him, eh? Okay, let's go... Ahem, Mee-me-meee ...)
  2. Happy Birthday, Randy!! You young Whipper Snapper, you!! {coughcough} Oooh, where's my walker?
  3. Please join me in welcoming Commander Laura and STSF GromVik to their new Starfleet Academy sim at Midnight, ET on Tuesday, in the Holodeck!! Come and join the fun for those up late (or in a different time zone) WELCOME Laura and GromVik!! (More new Academies coming soon)
  4. {COUGHCOUGH}
  5. Yes, you were scrubbing out the interior of the Photon Torpedo tubes... oops, did I press THAT button!? Okay, so maybe he wasn't talking about me when he said "friend."
  6. The USS Lena has been ordered to investigate the disappearance of its sister ship. the USS Olie. A distress signal was received from the Olie before its disappearance. No wreckage or other trace of the ship has been found.
  7. Ahem! Ease back on the "Denise Crosby when not playing Tasha Yar" discussion folks - we all get the idea, or enough of one.
  8. There is no set format for a bio and none are needed or used in the training sims. As far as the Advanced Sims, every one has different needs or requirements and you don't have to worry about that until you graduate. As far as graduation and/or gameplay in the academies, have you read the "How To Sim" section of this website? That is your first step. The next thing you do is to look at the schedule and show up, in the startrek.com/community/chat.asp's Holodeck chat room and just watch an academy. I think you are worrying too much about something that is relatively easy to understand, just go and experience it. You don't have to prepare for it in any way (besides being a Star Trek fan and coming into the room to have some fun!) Enjoy!
  9. ::hides his head in his hands while pulling on flame-retardant jumpsuit:: Gads, Vex - you're just doing wonders for your popularity!!
  10. Happy Birthday, Laura!!! (yeah, she's still a child)
  11. ::Ducking:: Eee-gads! Never tell the players to shoot us!!!
  12. What do you mean that he broke into your system via the Chat Room? What has he done to your computer and how did he get into your hard drive via the chat room?
  13. Commodore Decker from Original Series. Man, what a performance, what a nervous breakdown, what a valiant exit. Yeah, that's the guy!!! "There is no third planet." "Don't you think I KNOW THAT!!!"
  14. Sounds like he's worried, doesn't he? These definitions makin' ya nervous??? -Capta... uhh, uhmm -A9
  15. ::Sitting in his Ready Room, reviewing all that Maturin is doing for and doing to Manticore, he mutters as he scans the PADD:: Neural Interface direct connections to main control consoles, Bio-Neuro Gelpacks throughout the power grids, reinforced plasma conduits and the latest software upgrades to systems, a towable/remote lab for testing a prototype multi-phasic cloak!! Gads and that's just the list from Engineering! Then Science wants full holographic displays for all consoles and even some on the bigger tricorders, all of which have been upgraded as well. Of course they get a replacement of the ejectable lab and even a specialized shuttle with a Science lab onboard!!? Just what does Special Ops have planned for us with all these remote locations for testing and experimentation?? Medical is getting some new direct transport badges, sounds interesting with a one function badge. They just slap it on and the body goes straight to Sickbay - I just hope they cordon off the inbound area so no patient becomes a corpse just by transporting wrong. Then THEY want a shuttle, gads, we need a bigger garage, and improved Medical tricorders. Then there's the Merrimack. I always knew that Security wanted some bigger "guns," but really! They call it a Long Range Attack Shuttle. It's much larger than the Wyvern or Griffen, able to hold more crew. It's got powerful phasers and two torpedo launchers (not too many torps, though), it's got reinforced hull plating, it's got a bio-neuro regenerating gelpack power supply, GADS!, it's got burstable propulsion so it can do Warp 3 indefinitely and get a Warp 4 thrust for 20 minutes every two hours! Maybe we should just call it the lifeboat, eh? Definitely needs a better name than Merrimack, I better work on that.... We also got the PCDs and MPDs to try out and those scare me. The Personal Cloaks can be very useful, but I've always wondered about spending too much time bathed in that radiation, not to mention what happens when it cuts out on you and you're far from cover. I'll take hiding and sneaking any day, but I guess I'm just showing my age. Then you've got the MPD, heck, you get someone with a Monocular Phaser on "Hot Standby" and it can cut a groove in the floor if they trip and lop off a foot if they sneeze. Useful, but NASTY! As for crew, Maturin has always had a... "readjusting" effect on my staff. Some new people come aboard, some others leave due to the realities and stress off Special Ops and others are "hired away." I'm not sure where this all fits in, but we've gained a doctor, with the addition of Christie Farron, and we've lost a Dept Chief with the departure of Eden Braden. Security, Security.... hmmmm, well I know who I want to be my CSEC - I just don't know if that person is really interested in taking on the responsibility, and I have so many questions about that choice... Yes, *SO* many new toys!! and some not so new. Well, the station's workers are almost done, and I'll be glad to get out of this phasic bubble, it always gives me the creeps! Time to walk the decks.
  16. =/\= MANTICORE BRIEFING #260, STARDATE 50306.02 =/\= The Manticore is docked at the Special Ops deep space research platform known as Maturin Station. Every year, the ship links up with Maturin for upgrades and new equipment. The crew waits with eagerness and fear for the latest technology to be installed onboard, even if it's not really ready to be in production yet. We are almost ready to depart and see what blows up the first time we connect it to power. =/\= END MANTICORE BRIEFING #260, STARDATE 50306.02 =/\=
  17. Probably killed himself when he came to the realization that you named him after Riker!!! heh-heh
  18. Ahem, well maybe I'm not THAT much of a nerd folks. Believe it or not, I took a picture of my tags back then and I ::gasp:: haven't taken a new picture each year I get my registration sticker!! Shock, Gasp!!
  19. - I watched the original series live (hiya, Zig). - I named a cat Cassiopeia after the space hooker in Battlestar Galactica. - I pre-ordered the season 2 DVD of Babylon-5 so it would get to me ASAP - (see attached photo) 'nuff said.
  20. Okay, what are these "problems" you keep talking about??? Is Fred making you guys clean the Warp Intake Manifold again?
  21. There's a payroll?? Oh great, now all the GMs will be coming to me for their back salary. THANKS, Vex ... sheesh!! (Welcome, Zeop)
  22. =/\= MANTICORE BRIEFING #259, STARDATE 50305.26 =/\= The Manticore has reached the Special Ops deep space research and docking platform known as Maturin Station. Every year, the ship links up with Maturin for upgrades and new equipment. The crew waits with eagerness and fear for the latest technology to be installed onboard, even if it's not really ready to be in production yet. At the same time, there are some crew changes happening as well. =/\= END MANTICORE BRIEFING #259, STARDATE 50305.26 =/\=
  23. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, STSF!!! All Academy and Advanced sims scheduled for Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26 are officially cancelled. GMs can decide, on their own, if they will still be running their sims, but these will be "unofficial" runs.
  24. Captain, My Captain!! Happy Birthday, Sovieee. Your new Magnetic Tap shoes are on order! -A9
  25. Randy is a Webmaster, there's Always a new website in the works. That doesn't mean that this site will be changing anytime soon. It's kinda like a college professor, Publish or Perish. Or the shark that has to keep moving forward or it dies. I think Randy is always thinking of new stuff, but since this is already STSF's second website in it's 9 months of existence, we'll probably stay with this consturct for awhile.
