  1. Yes, Dac did well do get that away team beamed up last night. Luckily the holodeck acted up on me, so I ended up as the stand-in OPS/HELM guy on the oslo, instead of the XO. This kept me off the away team, and I'm not so sure that if I was on the surface Dac wouldn't have let me have it ;-). No seriously, Dac you are doing a great job running these sims. Now if you could just fix the problem with the holodeck...
  2. I just want to say that we must have had one great Tactical officer that night, being able to hit garnoopy and the others dead on. At the helm I couldn't keep that ship going any straighter than a car rolling down lombard street! No wait, Voran was the Tactical officer wasn't he? I take all that back... ::o: (just kidding voran, you did great) (For those not in attendance, we had a navigational system failure of some kind, never found out what)
  3. Welcome Brina! See you around in the academies! :o
  4. Computer, Begin Recording… After being stuck in my quarters on my previous shift, I finally escaped. It seems something in the primary door control malfunctioned. Being stuck so long had given me a headache, so I made my first stop sickbay. Dr. Matthews was busy giving Lt. Mclean, the new Chief Engineer, his physical, so I just explored sickbay for a while. I think the doctor must have done something to the Captain with that thermometer of hers to be able to get a sickbay this big. Seeing how I was wasting my time exploring sickbay, I decided to take a look over some Romulan biographical information. It may prove useful later on as we continue to explore the abandoned base on the planet below us. After Dr. Matthews gave me a pill of some sort to help with my headache, I continued on my way and reported to duty in science. Lt. Sivuk was out, so I contacted him and he ordered me to report to the bridge. Upon arriving at the bridge, I learned we were monitoring a storm that had overtaken the base area. The away team was having to wait it out in their shuttle, due to the lack of structural stability in the base. Sivuk was manning the science station when I arrived, but he quickly handed that to me and took up the Ops/Helm station. The bridge was fairly empty with several of the senior staff, including Commander Ridire, and Lt. Shamor, on the surface in the away team. I hadn’t been on the bridge long when sensors detected a small object in orbit of the planet’s 4th moon. Lt. Sivuk, Captain Michaels, and myself were the only officers on the bridge at the time. Upon further examination, we found that the object was an old Romulan sensor marker. Captain Michaels ordered Lt. Sivuk to break orbit and take us closer to the probe. They say you learn something new everyday, and I guess that was true today as I had no idea Sivuk had piloting skills! About this time Ensign Garnoopy joined us on the bridge, and took up the tactical duties. Finding that the sensor marker was too old to be dangerous, and to far away to send information to the Romulans, the Captain decided to pull it into cargo bay 1. Scans have revealed that the marker contains some low level sensors, although quite old. As I speak, Lt. Sivuk and myself have just made our way to the cargo bay to try and download sensor information from the probe. Perhaps this will give us a better idea of what really happened in this area when the Romulans abandoned it… Computing, End Recording.
  5. Are you sure that is public radio? Seems more like Sesame Street to me! ;-) Seriously though, the academies are doing great. My compliments to the GMs doing the sims!
  6. Computer, Begin Recording… The past couple of hours have been rather uneventful. I’ve been off duty and stuck in my quarters while the away team on the surface waits out a storm. I’ve been using this time to work some more on my Tritium research, but I have made little progress. I’ve heard word that there is a new ensign on board, taking up space in engineering, I imagine I will meet him in due time. After spending a small amount of time in my quarters, I realized that Dr. Matthews failed to give me my tootsie pop after my physical. I contacted her immediately, fearing a breach of an important protocol like this could cause some major trouble with the captain and first officer. She informed me it would be no problem to correct this, I’ll stop by sickbay when I come back on duty. I’d best get some sleep before going back on duty; I expect my next duty shift may be a long one… Computer, End Recording.
  7. Well the chat room is still having problems. I was unable to get in for the Reaent sim last night, and it took several people that made it in 15 minutes to get there. If PeopleLink can't get this fixed soon and easily, I would think a backup chat room would be a very good idea.
  8. Happy birthday HyperDrive!
  9. Well, the applet loads for me now, but everytime it tries to enter the room it says "connection to the server has been dropped". I'll keep trying...
  10. Yikes... no comment here. And to Fred, where do you come up with these things? :)
  11. Happy new year 2003! Thought I would be the first to say Happy New Year to everybody! Hope everyone has a safe and blessed 2003!
  12. Oh, well sorry for those out in California and Alaska that I wished you a happy stardate 50301.01 a couple hours to early. ;)
  13. it was a introduced mid way through the dominion war as a patrol/quick strike ship for the federation it was used in the final battle for cardassia and in many other major battles and is continued to be used as a long range exploration vessel in peace time for a ship with 24 decks it has a good range of fire power..... Ahh, ok. Seems like I remember it now.
  14. The song is "Faith of the Heart" by Rod Stewart. As for my thoughts on Enterprise, I really don't like it quite as well as the others. To me the lack of much of the future technology kinda takes some of the draw out of it. Another thing is that they cannot really introduce much new stuff. We already know alot more about Klingons, Andorians, etc.. because we have traveled into the future with the other series. To me this takes away some of the excitement.
  15. Steamrunner? When was that class introduced?
  16. Yes actually, the problem has changed as of today. Now the applet doesn't even load. I do have the Java SDK installed, just because I installed it to use Sun's java when I started having this problem. I thought it might be a Microsoft thing on my new Tablet PC, something that they had added for pen input or something. No luck in that idea. And actually, I just tried to get into the lounge, doesn't work there now either. That was working up until today. It does look like they are doing something to it, wonder what? I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0, latest version, what is everyone else using? Oh, and just so you know, I'm a developer, mainly web stuff (ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, Flash, VB, VB.NET, Access Programming), and have worked in the past as a help desk technician (summer job at local university), so I do understand things like the java SDK and such. I know some don't, so it makes sense to try to make sense for those that have no clue what we are talking about. I do it all the time for my mom. ;)
  17. I like the DS9 and TNG Movie Uniforms. They just look a little more "official" than any of the others. :-)
  18. I am behind a firewall here at home normally. We have a linksys Firewall/Router/Wireless AP that we use. I tried just plugging directly into our cable modem, by passing the firewall, and I still was unable to enter the holodeck. I've also tried from one other computer using a different ISP, didn't work there either. The applet opens just fine as far as I can tell, it just never connects to the Holodeck. And I can get into the lounge, which runs the same applet. I tried Kroells' idea, coming in then if it doesn't work exit and come back. That wouldn't seem like it would do anything, but I tried it anyway, about 10 times, still no luck. Thanks for all the ideas guys (and gals ::):o. I've also noticed that vileromulan has said no one is in the holodeck but him, could these be related in anyway? Has anyone seen anyone else in the holodeck?
  19. Well actually, I can tell you right now that it isn't the same problem you had. From what you said, the chat program never actually loaded for you. My problem is that I open up the holodeck, and everything loads like normal. So at this point what I see is the normal chat box, area for list of those in the chat room, and the buttons that are for ignore, chat, etc... Now instead of going ahead and joining the room, the username and room fields just above the chat box stay blank. Also, when I click on the rooms button, no rooms are listed and it gives me an error saying something about can't get list of rooms. But anyway, after I post this I'm going to enter the holodeck and go watch TV for a while, just to see...
  20. Well I tried your suggestion laura, still nothing. I've tried just about everything I can think of. I reinstalled the Java VM, tried from another type of browser (mozilla), and still nothing. The wierd thing is that I can get into the Starfleet Lounge chatroom just fine. The holodeck just never seems to connect.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Happy belated birthday lightning! May you always be 99. :) Best of luck to you in the new year!
  22. Hmm... I left it up trying to get in overnight, it never made it. I also tried from another ISP and computer, still wouldn't let me in. No one else is having this problem?
  23. Computer begin recording… I reported for my first day of full duty after leaving Starbase 345 this morning. I was surprised to find the science office empty, it seems LtJg. Sivuk had to take leave today, and he left Ensign Travis Kroells in charge of science. I’m still getting to know the crew, so it is hard to get all the names straight. I contacted Ensign Kroells, who was on the bridge, he asked me to come to the bridge to help map the surface of a planet we are to establish a base on. It seems the Romulans used this planet as a base at one point, but abandoned it over 20 years ago. This was only the second time I had been on the bridge, the first being the day arrived on the Reaent. Scans of the planet’s surface didn’t turn up anything unusual, so Captain Michaels sent an away team down to investgate the abandoned base. They were to check to see if any of it is salvageable for use by the federation. Ensign Kroells was part of this team, leaving me as the only senior science officer on board and on duty, and I’m not really all that senior. I stayed on the bridge for a while longer to complete the basic surface mapping, but was called away by Dr. Matthews as soon as I finished. It seems it was time for my first checkup after coming on board. Now I hadn’t met the doctor in person yet, although I had heard some pretty nasty rumors about her. Because of this I was a little nervous as I went to get my checkup, despite the fact that my experience has taught me that doctors are only there to help. It turns out I had nothing to be nervous about, Dr. Matthews is a very nice person, and a good doctor. After my checkup I returned to the bridge to continue scans of the planet’s surface, as well as deeper in beyond the crust. The away team had found the base and were in the midst of exploring it. No great breakthroughs yet. So far scans have been all normal. There has been some small scanner interference when I try to scan deeper into the planet, although I expect it is from some element in the planet’s crust.. specifically tritoriam. I began conducting experiments on this new element while at the academy. So far no one has been able to scan through it without interference, although as I stated in my last log I am making some progress along these lines. I plan to find out for sure if we do have some tritoriam here, and hopefully run some of my experiments with the ships sensors. I will of course have to get Sivuk’s and then the Captain’s permission to do so. Everyone on board has been cautious with this mission. The Romulans aren’t known to abandon places as quickly as they did this planet. There is a level of suspicion that we are being watched as I speak. The Captain has handled the whole thing calmly so far, if he has much suspicion recently he hasn’t shown it. I plan to stay up here on the bridge a while longer, at least until Sivuk gets back, and continue scanning for anything suspicious. Something about this just doesn’t smell right…. …End Recording
  24. ====Begin Recording=== After arriving at starbase 342 to wait for the USS Reaent to arrive, I took a small bit of personal time in a holodeck simulation of a 20th century golf course. I also enjoyed sometime working on my personal astrophysics research projects. I have made some good progress in finding an accurate way to use sensors to detect past tritoriam in a planet's crust without interference. I hope to finish this project soon... with the help of some of the Reaent's science equipment. After being on the starbase three days, the Reaent arrived at 07:00 hours. I was nervous as I went on board, although that feeling was quickly overcome with excitement about my new post. I was shown to my quarters by a friend from the academy, after which I went to the bridge to report to Commander Ridire. When I arrived, he was in the Captain's ready room introducing another new ensign on board, Ensign Geovanie Revolone. While waiting, I met Ensign Mike Van Roy, ops and helm officer. After a short wait and discussion with Ensign Van Roy, I met the commander, and then he introuduced me to Captain Micheals. After this the commander asked Ensign Van Roy to give Ensign Revolone and myself the "nickel" tour of the ship. I must say that this is a magnificent ship. Our stops on the tour include Main Engineering, Main Science, Crew Quarters, and finally Ten Forward where we stoped and talked over drinks, non-acholoic mind you. ::chuckles::. After this tour I went back to my quaters to find several messages waiting for me. The first message informed me of the recent promotion of Lt. Sivuk to Cheif Science Officer. Although I have not meet Sivuk, I saw him while on the bridge reporting to the captain and commander. I look forward to working with him when I report for my first full day of duty. The second message could be taken good or bad, depending on the viewpoint. It was from the ship's doctor, informing me that I need to get my phyisical done as soon as possible. Now I have heard rumors about the doctor, good and bad, with many to strange to believe. I however expect that the doctor is a friendly person, just like many previous doctors that I have encountered. Of course there is no way of knowing for sure until I meet her... ====End Recording===
  25. Sovereign Class is the tops! :) Gotta love the bigger size ships. The Intrepid class is great too though.
