  1. ::falls out of chair laughing:: Don't you just love April Fools? :o
  2. Happy Birthday Travis! ::grabs his ever ready padd, taps it a few times and happy birthday music starts playing:: I won't sing to you for fear of injuring those near me.. but I brought the EMH and a holographic seven of nine to do it for me. :o Hope you have a great Birthday! Computer, Active program Goad Pi Alpha. ::They show up and start singing:: Alright Computer, stop music. ::A9 Action: Music keeps playing:: Umm, Computer! Stop Already!! ::backs out of room before a circut overloads or something::
  3. Yeah, it is fun to be on more than one ship. I'm on two right now, the Reaent and the Manticore. Thinking about a third so I can even up with Garnoopy. :) For people who do have multiple sims, it is interesting to see how their characters are related, or not related at all. For my characters (One Human/Trill, one Ullian), they are essentially brothers, although the Ullian is adopted into the family. Fun to put logs together in that way too. Randy - 3 sims back to back? :o I mean, I like simming and all, but how on earth could you find time to do that?
  4. Hello T'Ana, and welcome again. It was good to have you in the academy sim last night, was sorry to see you go before the sim was over. Hope to see you around!
  5. Ok, now this topic has really gotten strange... :o But hey, we sure got away from politics!
  6. Good tip Moose. This is also a good reminder that everyone here is a real person, and not some android you are playing a game with. Various things can happen in the "real" world that will take precidence, and it is always better to come back to see someone who has been "working" while you were away rather than their thoughts coming in every 30 seconds "Did he hear me?". Makes for a more enjoyable sim for everyone. Of course you know one of these days we will be simming in one of those 3D avatar chat rooms, then you can really draw out a picture. :o Once again, good tip.
  7. How about going with a base platform of "Oklahoma". I can see it now - [*]I'm just a girl who can't say no (to blowing up ships) - Sung by Dac [*]People might say we are in love - Sung by the Manticore crew [*](The USS) Kansas City - Sung by FredM [*]The farmer (Federation) and the cowman (klingons) should be friends - Sung by the crew of that Half-federation half-klingon ship (name has left me at the moment) [*]Poor (Cadet) Judd is dead - Sung by Academy GMs everywhere [*]The Shuttle with the fringe on top - Sung by helmsmen from various ships with a backup of Tom Paris [*]Oh what a beautiful morning - Sung by the three Garnoopys And Finally [*]OKLAHOMA! (Where the klingons first meet humans...)- Sung by the entire STSF gang including myself Ok there you have it, feel free to shoot it down any time now. (Can anyone tell I'm an Oklahoma native?)
  8. lol, great post Garnoopy. I'm a little braindead at the moment, or I would try to come up with something witty to add to it. :o
  9. I don't claim to be an expert, but looks like very good advice to me Moose! Looking forward to future tips from the Moose. :)
  10. Good point about the Animated Series. I haven't been able to find it on tape, TV, cable, or anywhere except for a P2P program similar to Napster. I have a couple episodes on my computer from that, and I must say, it is interesting. The animation allowed them to go a little more wild with aliens, so instead of just pointed ears (Vulcans, Romulans) or a mustache (Klingons) they were able to create aliens twice as tall as the crew, with all sorts of odd features. :) It adds to the feeling of them actually being "alien", but then again I like the idea that Star Trek has kinda held to of a large number of species being humanoid. All and all, I still like the original best. When you think about it, what they were able to do with their small budget and the limited technology of the time is reallly amazing. Star Trek has always pushed the envelope of special effects, and this is one of the great things I like about it.
  11. Well, I'm a little behind the others, but let me echo what they said - Welcome! Look forward to simming withB_ht in the academies.
  12. ::clears throat:: Ahem... Back on topic, All the series are great, but personally I prefer the plain old original. I only wish it had gone on for a few more seasons, it is kinda short on episodes. :)
  13. Didn't you see the episode this last Wednesday? It had what you are looking for...
  14. Ahem, WE are nothing alike! ::looks over at Atragon:: HE: bald, wrinkly, bad breath, old (did I leave anything out?) ME: A goddess with a plethora of divine shoes, a grass skirt and a coconut bra. Hmph, alike indeed ::o: Dac Ok, so if I'm in the same realm (the Data realm) as you guys, where do I fit into all this? I mean, I'm not bald, not old, don't have bad breath (well, most of the time), I've only got one pair of standard Starfleet issue boots, don't look good in skirts, and certainly don't wear coconut bras. ;) You know, I think us Datas have lost a few positronic circuts or something, I'm starting to get confused!
  15. USS Don't-look-now-but-Dac-has-the-transporter-set-on-clothes-only-again ;)
  16. I arrived at this sim 1 hour after scheduled start time(schedule change deal is why I showed up then), but I must say that when I arrived the plot was in full force. All I can say is, very interesting storyline Dac, and avoid Dr. Garnoppy in his changing room at all costs. ;)
  17. USS Yea is good, I kinda thought we might should have gone with USS Linux though. :-) Congrats again to sjonus on his graduation! And to the HyperDrive guy - you made a fine Counselor, just stay away from me. ;)
  18. Echoing what the others have said - Welcome! And like Garnoopy said, feel free to ask questions. Somebody will be able to help you out I'm sure. I can tell you that I've got lots of answers, I just have yet to find a question to match. ;) (see, I can't even be funny :o )
  19. Well following along with what Garnoopy said a little bit back, it must have been some of that technology like last night's Enterprise had. The inside of the bun was bigger than the outside. :-) I must say that it was pretty cool last night, why can't we have cars like that? Huh? Huh?
  20. Yeah, that is what you would like us to think...
  21. ::Recorded using the enviormental suit computer uplink to the Runabout Atlantis:: Computer, Begin Recording I started out today by going to check on Ensign Kroells in sickbay. I had heard he had gotten some sort of bug while on the away team at the Romulan base. When I arrived one of the new doctor’s was taking a look at him. I tried to talk to him and get some small talk going, but he seem rather snappy. I later heard rumors that he was in sort of other on-ship trouble as well, which could explain the way he was feeling. So having nothing else to do in sickbay, I headed for the bridge to check up the storms down on the surface. Upon arriving on the bridge I found Ensign Van Roy to be the only one there, apparently the rest were in an impromto meeting in the Captain’s ready room. After welcoming Van Roy back on board from the away mission, I begin my duties at the science station. Lt. Sivuk had left me some information pertaining to the storms, which I quickly looked over. It seems our suspicions where most likely true, his information showed that the storms were generated artificially and controled from the Romulan base. No sooner had I finished reading this, than the entire senior staff exited the Captain’s ready room. Orders and comm links starting going on all over the place, so it took me a moment to figure out what was going on. Sivuk came over and informed me that the plan was to take another away team down to the surface to try and gain control over the storms, and make first contact with a creature that Kroells had let out of it’s cyro unit on the previous away mission. Sivuk and I were to represent the science department on this mission, and we were to report to the shuttle bay in 10 minutes. Moving quickly we arrived in the shuttle bay, and started gearing up. This time down we are taking a runabout instead of the smaller shuttle that was taken down on the previous away mission. We were also taking enviormental suits, full tricorders, and small hand phasers. Sivuk was a bit hesitant to take a phaser, being a Vulcan he is mostly against any form of violence unless it is needed for survival. I on the other hand spent a whole year training to be a tactical officer at the academy, even before I began my science training. That experience taught me to always be prepared, so I was glad they were requiring phasers for the entire team. After waiting for one of Lt. Shamor’s security officers to get finished with her physical in sickbay (I believe her name was Sarah or something like that), and then join the away team, we left the Reaent and landed just outside the Romulan base. Being cautious as always, Commander Ridire had the security team walk in front of everyone else, just in case the lifeform that was discovered last time decided to get hostile. Finding nothing, we entered the main control area of the base. After some work in decoding Romulan writing, I think we have found the weather control panel. I’m working now trying figure out this Romulan system, and gain control of the storm… Computer, End Recording.
  22. Computer, Begin Recording I’m currently in my quarters after having one of the longest duty shifts I’ve ever had. I’ve continued to study the data that was recovered from the Romulan data crystals, and trying to out figure exactly what is causing the artificial storms. So far we have been unable to find any artificial structures large enough to create these storms, other than the Romulan base the away team has been exploring. Speaking of the away team, they have arrived back on the ship. I’m told they all made it through decon, except for my fellow science officer Ensign Travis Kroells. I’ve not been to sickbay, but what I’ve gathered from listening to various conversations is that he picked up some sort of bacteria on the surface. I’ve also heard that he had some trouble obeying orders down there, although I’m not sure if that is connected to his sickness or not. Anyway, back to the storms. As the away team was going through decon, a new storm, identical to the one that trapped the away team, started forming on the opposite side of the planet. After requesting permission from the Captain, we moved into geosynchronous orbit over the forming storm. This, combined with recalibrating the sensors, revealed something we had not seen before with the storms. An energy beam of some sort was going directly into the storm. Because it was cloaked somehow, sensors could only pick up the beam within 5 kilometers to the storm, where it started displacing materials inside the storm. After numerous attempts at recalibrating the sensors to reveal the source of the beam, it suddenly vanished. As soon as it had done that, the storm started moving in the exact same pattern several previous storms had. After some further examination LtJg. Sivuk discovered that the every storm had taken this pattern after the away team had brought some of the Romulan equipment and computers back online. This raises some very good questions, which I currently have no answer for. I’m hoping that Kroells will be well enough to help us examine this data on my next duty shift, although I know Sivuk has discovered some information that indicates that Travis’ problem could be worse than we thought. Well I’d best get some rest, I doubt Sivuk would like it if I was late for duty. As I’ve said since we arrived at this planet, something just doesn’t smell right to me here. And after the recent incidents with the sensor marker, and the discovery of this storm pattern that could mean a connection to the base, I’d say it is starting to smell more and more like a Marcapian skunk than one of their famous roses… Computer, End Recording.
  23. Computer, Begin Recording… I went on board the Manticore for the first time today. I must say that this is quite a ship. I did have some trouble finding where it was docked, it seems a lot of things about this ship are rather secret. With a quick look at my map I found my way to the bridge to report for duty. The ship’s first officer was nowhere to be found so after waiting a few minutes to gain some confidence I went ahead and reported directly to the commanding officer, Commodore Atragon-9. I could sense he was rather tense, so I tried my best to stay in a “neutral” mode. Shortly thereafter some lady with the rank of Commander in a Medical uniform came in with the First Officer. The Captain seemed disturbed at seeing her, and had Captain Sovak, the First Officer, direct me as to my duty shifts. I had about 24 hours until my first one starts, so I explored the ship a little. My quarters are here, on deck 6, although back in the corner as it is. I found out while here that the “lady” I saw in the Commodore’s ready room turned out to be Commander Jami Farrington, the Commodore’s wife. As of the latest duty roster I received, she has been reassigned as Chief Science Officer, so it seems I will be reporting to her now. I only wish I had met her while I was up there. During my explorations I was surprised to find two engineering sections, nothing was mentioned about that in the briefings I received when I was assigned here. I also found out from some of the other crew that there are several experimental technologies on board as well. This combined with the emotions I could sense in the crew, have led me to believe that there may be more to this “Tugboat” than meets the eye… Computer, End Recording.
  24. Starfleet Personnel File Subject: Lt. Commander Spencer Goad Chat Name: spg preceded by rank (ltcmdr_spg) General Information: Name: Spencer Goad Species: Ullian Sex: Male Marital Status: Single Height: 6’ 2” Weight: 180 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Hazel Distinguishing Marks: Small “birthmark” behind both ears, result of genetic modification Genetic Abnormalities: None Service Information: Rank: Lt. Commander Position: Former Cheif Science Officer Assignment: U.S.S. Manticore, NCC-5852 Biography: Born on Ullian Prime Spencer was always told of the visit his Grandfather and Uncle had made to the Federation ship Enterprise-D. During that visit it was discovered that the methods his Uncle was using to mind probe those onboard caused some serious side effects. These stories always intrigued Spencer and he wanted to know more about this Federation. In the family custom he was trained Ullian telepathic research method from ages 14 to 20. Just before he was ready to finish his training, a large dispute broke out on Ullian Prime, regarding the use of their telepathic research. Many people wanted to destroy the method and tradition. Fearing his life, Spencer fled alone on a small craft similar to a Starfleet shuttle. After traveling for almost 6 months, and just about ready to give up all hope he was found by the Federation transport vessel Destiny. Having read about the only previous encounter with the Ullians the crew was frightened and threw him in the brig. At the Destiny’s next rendezvous they told the crew of a small family operated science craft, the Cascade, about Spencer. The family disliked the way he was being treated and offered to take him off the hands of the crew of the Destiny. They agreed and thus Spencer had found his human family. After living on board the Cascade for about 5 years, Spencer decided to try to enter Starfleet academy at the age of 26. He passed the exams with flying colors, but those in Starfleet Command were worried what effect a Ullian’s presence might have there. They decided Spencer could enter if he allowed them to genetically modify his appearance to look mostly human. Knowing he would never gain full acceptance into the human community without it, he went ahead with the procedure. Spencer graduated with a Science Degree from Starfleet academy at the age of 30. He received official commendations for performance in the areas of Astrophysics, Command protocol, and Tactical. During his time at the academy he spent time with a Vulcan professor to help gain control of his telepathic abilities. Before graduation he fully mastered control of these abilities and is now a full telepath with ability to probe memories of other humanoids. After graduation he was assigned to the USS Manticore because of his special abilities and the secretness that surrounded him because of his species. He continues to serve there as an Assistant Science Officer. Medical History / Psychological Profile: Spencer is in excellent condition, both mentally and physically. His psychology has created some problems for normal Starfleet medical scanners, so he always carries a modified tricorder with him in case of emergency. Service Record: Stardate 50209.21 --- Graduated from Starfleet Academy as Science major, promoted to rank of Ensign by Admiral Lightning and Atragon Stardate 50302.17 --- Assigned as Assistant Science Officer aboard the U.S.S. Manticore, NCC-5852, Commanding Officer: Commodore Atragon-9 Stardate Unknown --- Promoted to Lt. Jg. Stardate Unknown --- Promoted to full Lt. and made Cheif Science Officer Stardate Unknown --- Promoted to Lt. Commander Stardate Unknown --- Reassigned to Starfleet Black Ops Research (nobody knows where ;) ) -=FILE CLOSED
  25. lol, what a poll! I had to vote for the dude on the Manticore, I just don't go for Klingons. ;)
