  1. Hey all, Don't know how many saw it, but the other night the cast of Battlestar Galactica presented on the Late Show With David Letterman the "Top 10 Reasons To Watch The Final Season Of Battlestar Galactica." Was kind of funny...so I thought I'd share. If you want to see the actual presentation, it is available at the David Letterman website at CBS.com here. Once you get to the actual list, click on the button that says "Top Ten" next to the to play the video (under the word "Season" of the section header). Top Ten Reasons To Watch The New Season Of "Battlestar Galactica" 10: (Chief Petty Officer Galen Tyrol) "In the dramatic season opening episode, we save 15% by switching our insurance to Geico" 9: (D'Anna Biers/Number Three) "You'll find out what's in the hatch and who gets off the island -- crap, wrong show" 8: (Dr. Gaius Baltar) "My character creates a line of "Honey Roasted Space Nuts" 7: (Lieutenant Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii) "What else are you gonna do, read a book?" 6: (Number Six) "There's a good chance you'll see me naked" 5: (Colonel Saul Tigh) "There's a good chance you'll see me naked" 4: (Major Lee 'Apollo' Adama) "New FTL drives will allow the Colonial fleet to better adjust to gravitational variations and achieve maximum superluminal travel to outrun the pursuing Cylon basestars -- I don't know what the hell I'm talking about" 3: (Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace) "We engage in a life-and-death battle against evil robots...You know, same s*** as last year" 2: (President Laura Roslin) "I take on the most challenging task of my political career -- doing a lame Top Ten list on a third rate talk show" 1: (Admiral William "Husker" Adama) "Watch me lead us into war against the Cylons without an exit strategy"

  3. Hey there, Thanks for posting this information! I had heard that it was going to happen but didn't know they were actually online now. I just wish they also posted the digitally remastered versions...
  4. Hey there, According to Variety, the next Star Trek film has been moved back from Christmas 2008 to May 2009. The reasons seem to be purely financial, not due to problems with production. "Paramount is pushing back the release of J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" from Dec. 25 to May 8, 2009, saying the pic's gross potential is greater as a summer tentpole.". Hollywood Reporter confirms some stating '"Star Trek" arguably was the biggest film moved, with the intended Christmas Day release now set for the first prime date in the following summer boxoffice season: May 8, 2009. But "Trek" appears something of an exception in the mix of itinerant pics, with its shift unrelated to script or cast considerations. " 'Star Trek' is moving to summer because its has so much boxoffice potential," Par spokesman Michael Vollman said. "It does not need any script tweaks. They're two-thirds of the way through shooting, and we would have delivered a great movie at Christmas."
  5. Hey there, Character development can also be explosions and actions, depending on who you are working with. Case and point, with a Pandarian appears and decides to eat your arm off...this can cause psychological issues that will spiral out of control. Two sims later, the character is in the nut house. Five sims later, they are talking to an imaginary friend named Wilson. :)

  8. Hey there, If you click on the glowing red dot on the new website, takes you to a series of webcam at ncc-1701.com. Well, eventually, one will show... Interior shot?
  9. Hey there, AND...the first trailer for the film is featured in front of the J.J. Abrams directed flick "Cloverfield" (which, I was very surprised, is a great film). The official trailer online will supposedly be released Monday, however....Star Trek fans are nerds. At something like 12:01pm today, someone posted a version of it online. Having seen it in the theatre though, I will say...the detail and sheer scope of the shots is amazing. In the theatre, the detail is just amazing and you really come away understanding one thing: this is one big ship. Anyway, site below is German but they have a pretty good quality Quicktime version of the item in question. For those interested, http://www.treknews.de/treknews/newspro-tr...66120558944.php
  10. Hey there, Welcome to STSF and all the best during your time with us! ^_^
  11. Hey there, Any outstanding assignments or graduation processing will be caught up before the end of 2007 (ET). ^_^
  12. Hey there, Apparently no one actually did that...the computers are still pumping out pre-programmed material that was entered in weeks ago. TrekMovie posted a new article that I think has some interesting points to it....especially the part about some within CBS not being aware of what had happened at CBS-I until after it had already happened. Source: Update on Fate of Startrek.Com CBS committed to keeping StarTrek.com alive The statement is similar to the more general statement issued by CBS on Friday. CBS appears to be committed to keeping a site up at startrek.com, but what site and who will run it is still up in the air. Someone close to the matter tells TrekMovie.com “the site will get stronger, better, faster, live longer and prosper even more…there are no plans to shut it down.” TrekMovie.com can confirm that the Friday decision was entirely made by CBS Interactive and was part of a larger cost-cutting and restructuring effort at CBS-I. TrekMovie.com has also learned that some within CBS (outside of CBS Interactive) are not happy about the layoffs and are making inquirees internally about the fate of the site and the laid off staff. There is some speculation that the budget cuts are related to belt-tightening across all the networks who are going to be facing a big drop in ad revenue in the new year due to the WGA strike. UPDATED: Farewell removed…staff still laid off The above statement has now been put up at StarTrek.com, it has replaced the ‘farewell’ message and banner that were put up by the staff on Friday. However, this is not because they have been rehired. TrekMovie.com has confirmed that the staff are still laid off. You may notice some updates to the site today and over the next week, but these are all automated updates that were programmed in last week. Nothing to do with new moive The lay offs at StarTrek.com have nothing to do with Paramount or their plans for promotion of the new Star Trek movie over the next year. As has been the custom with other recent films, Paramount will have a separate promotional site for the new movie (which would be linked to startrek.com). To date Paramount has been using ’startrek.com’ as the destination for all promotional materials related to the upcoming Star Trek film. It is likely that this would also be the case for the upcoming trailer premiering on January 18th with Cloverfield. It is unknown what effect the changes at StarTrek.com will have on Paramount’s plans for the online promotion for Star Trek. Bear in mind that CBS and Paramount share the Star Trek brand and although they work closely together, they are totally separate entities with their own agendas and decision making structures.
  13. Hey all, The following tidbits of information have appeared over at the TrekMovie website. Rather interesting.... Source: StarTrek.com Team Laid Off: Future Of Site In Doubt StarTrek.com was running out of the LA Area, so it is possible it will be reborn in the Bay Area, but it doesn’t appear that any of the current team was offered the opportunity to move. At this point it is still unclear if the site has any future at all.
  14. Hey there, The details of this likely will never be known. One thing that I will point out is that presently, due to the writer's strike, large numbers of people are being laid off at CBS. The company simply isn't bringing in money. Other networks are having to take similar actions to remain out of the red. NBC was returning millions of dollars worth of advertising dollars because the shows the ads would appear on won't be seen. Regretfully, this may be just another example. Personally, I doubt very highly the website itself will vanish. From a purely marketing standpoint, it is an asset. Now, whether or not it could be reverted into more of a movie site with less interactive content is a possibility. In regard to the relationship between STSF and the website, I think a wait and see approach is best. There isn't any reason to panic, at least not yet.
  15. Hey there, And when you are done with the Academy...come watch the Reaent at 10:00pm! :D
  16. Hey there, As of today, the backlog has been cleared. If anyone has not received a response (minus one outstanding application to Arcadia I am waiting on some info before processing), please resend me the information. :D
  17. Greetings all, If you have recently graduated or put in an application for posting, do not cry! You have not been forgotten. Regretfully, the e-mail system that is used is having a glitch which is preventing mail from being sent. Hopefully the problem will be corrected before Monday. I do apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
  18. Captain’s Log Stardate 0710.27 U.S.S. Reaent, NCC-3345-G The Reaent remains on course for Starbase 428. If we are able to maintain present speed throughout the rest of the journey, we should arrive sometime late this evening. At present, there remains no sign of pursuit by anyone else in the nebula. The Saltek remains in formation with us, though we have been forced to drop out of warp three times within the past hour due to malfunctions with their reactor. While this may delay our arrival, given our present conditions, neither ship should be left alone. Our condition is, frankly, a point of concern. Structural failures occurred on Deck 10 and 11, resulting in a partial collapse of the fighter bay. Luckily no serious injuries were reported, but it has eliminated our ability to use the only real defensive weapon we still have. The Reaent’s ammunition stores are essentially bare, in part due to an explosive decompression and another due to mechanical malfunction. Engineering reports that most of the phaser array remains offline with little hope of in space repair. Starfleet Command has confirmed that Task Force 17 is being dispatched to Nebula M-8231 to conduct a full sweep and ensure there is no more baggage lying around. I am certain Captain Nym will have little trouble handling the situation. The most concerning is the report I have not yet received. Medical continues to tally the injured and dead. While some will be from our guests, many will likely be members of my crew. For the official record, I standby my decision to continue this mission. We have been able to confirm that rescued individuals aboard this ship are indeed from the late U.S.S. Cairo. We have struck a blow at whatever operations they were conducting and destroyed five vessels within their position which were utilizing advanced technology. Many questions remain as to what has actually taken place and who we were fighting. With luck, a full and open inquiry will take place with the ten individuals currently sitting in the Reaent brig by Starfleet Security. To do anything else would be to tarnish a situation we still no never little about. Furthermore, I am recommending a reclassification of Nebula M-8231 given the circumstances of late. As a fitting memorial to those individuals whom we were unable to reach in time and members of the Reaent crew who gave the ultimate sacrifice, I believe all consideration should be given to the title of Cairo Nebula.
