  1. ::space odyssey theme in the background:: My God....its full of........coffee beans??? HUFF...its a computer...not a Latte machine ;)
  2. Rok left the last repair site. It was much like every other...crews busily working and in the background...his people...stoic and otherwise...completely bored. He would talk with Will about shoreleave. They looked like they needed it . Despite his best efforts, he couldnt help thinking about another crewman who REALLY needed a break. The Arbazan and he had history...much of it strained. However, the two of them had grown closer..actually working well together over the past few weeks. Link was almost as difficult to figure out as he was. And when Rok got REALLY REAL...Link was the closest thing to a real friend he had on board the Republic...Will was cordial as well as some of the others...but on some level Rok understood Link...Rok frowned "how sad is THAT?" The brotherhood of the pointy-eared. But Link had a cool hat... He found his way to the Officers deck. He wasnt sure how this would go...the verbal claws the Admiral had sunk in Links hide were pretty deep. And a year ago..the Arbazans insults would have had no effect on Rok...but a lot can happen in a year. He had retaliated out of reflex more than anything. Perhaps he and Link should stick together during shoreleave...perhaps they could keep on another out of trouble...perhaps. He waited a moment outside Links door...drew a deep breathe...and pressed the door panel.
  3. <_< I dont remember seeing B.A..... :D
  4. Rok thought he was ready. Really. He had prepared himself. He understood the Admirals concerns. Although he had not been around for the previous changling encounter...Will had filled him in on some of the details...bottom line...the Admiral did NOT like Changlings. So...there he was..straddling a bio bed in Sick bay..waiting to be shot..and suddenly...without missing a beat...he was. But, it wasnt like he expected. He was surrounded...no enveloped by black...the blackest black one could imagine. But he wasnt alone...although he could not see anyone or anything..he could hear voices....coming from everywhere..nowhere. It was as if he had dropped into the middle of some great hall where people were chatting incessantly. He couldnt make out any specific words...and he didnt want to..he was afraid if he tried..the attempt might drive him mad. Instead..he concentrated on blocking the voices out....he had to block the voices...before he suffocated...What had Will created in this device? "Am I a changling?" thought Rok..though his words were, of course, lost among the chorus. Suddenly..he noticed a small light in the distance. It seemed very far away but he had to reach it..it was important! Rok seemed to zoom through the inky depths of whatever Hell he had found toward the speck of light..which was now growing. Unfortunately..so were the voices...the volume was increasing dramatically. It was overwhelming...too much .....too loud......." I gotta get out of here" screamed Rok to himself as the voices sought to digest him completely before he could reach the light.............. Then a slight crack..and the light consumed him....and Rok's world went still and quiet...
  5. Welcome...XP shouldnt be having JAVA problems in my opinion..... next time..just type this addy....if the link doesnt cut it... www.stsf.net/chatroom.php That should take you right to it.... Good luck ..and Welcome aboard
  6. ===========STARFLEET========== Personnel Report Name: Ki’rok Rank: Lt. Commander Age: 33 Gender: Male Race: 3/4 Vulcan - 1/4 Betazoid Height: 179.3 cm Weight: 71 kg Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Birthplace: K’san - Vulcan Science Vessel Blood type: T positive Father: Rokk’ar Diplomat/First Contact Mother: Tam’arra Ki Life Science Specialist (Deceased) Siblings: N/A History: The son of a Vulcan Diplomat and half Vulcan, half Betazoid Science Officer, Ki’rok was born and raised in space. Having little contact with children, Ki’rok matured beyond his years early. At 6, his mother died in a failed first contact effort led by his father. Over the next 12 years, Ki’rok traveled with his father. At 18, he applied to and was accepted by the Vulcan Science Institute. While attending, uncomfortable with others his own age, he kept to himself and his studies. This paid off when he graduated with honors with Degrees in Interstellar Diplomacy as well as Combat Tactics and Strategic Theory. After a brief and troubled period as his father’s assistant, he returned to Vulcan to study Mind Sciences and Vulcan history with Tu’kat, a Vulcan Master. He studied various meditation techniques as well as Vulcan martial arts. Ten years passed and Ki’rok emerged a much stronger Vulcan. He attempted Kohlinar but was unable to achieve the state. At Tu’kats suggestion, he decided to leave Vulcan and join Starfleet. While at the Academy, Ki’rok (or Rok as other cadets nicknamed him to his dismay) studied Tactical Systems Analysis and Command Theory. He graduated top of his class and was posted aboard the USS Republic-D as an Assistant Security Officer. Psychological Evaluation: ===G-7 CLEARANCE REQUIRED=== While highly intelligent, Ensign Ki'rok may be his own worst enemy. Besides his evident duality issues (Diplomacy vs. Security) his Betazoid DNA has unpredictable long term effects on his psyche. Losing his mother; becoming estranged from his father; these events would have an effect on a normal Vulcan. However, even with his Kohlinar training, I am not convinced Ki'rok will be able to deal with these events until he confronts his emotions regarding them. In my meetings with Ensign Ki'rok, some non-developed partial empathic abilities surfaced. This perhaps was the most disturbing. If Ensign Ki'roks abilities increase with time, he will be immersed in the thing his very nature strives to deny...emotions will become the sea he drowns in. It is this physician’s opinion that without proper guidance and continued training, these conflicting aspects of his persona may eventually drive him mad. Please note that this is merely my opinion. As to this date, Ensign Ki'rok has an exemplary history. ~Addendum~ After suffering from some brief synaptic episode...Lt Ki'rok underwent treatment from the Republic CMO, Dr Maxwell..in an attempt to quell an apparent impending psychological break. The exact nature of the treatment remains uncertain..as of this date, Dr Maxwell has not realeased his findings in the matter. However, Lt Ki'rok was cleared for duty by the ships Counselor. His empathic abilities are negligable at best. This could change with time. Recommend periodic testing for accuracy and range limitiations. On a side note, the treatments seemed to have diminished the officers capacity to surpress his emotions. After several weeks of counseling, however, he seems to be adjusting well and reasserting himself among the crew. Periodic review is recommended as this officers Vulcan heritage could prove volatile with the lack of emotional control. Updates pending... End Report-
  7. ::the other TV guy speaks out..again:: I suggested Sci Fi initially in conjuction with the additional sources of capital...I know Sci Fi is maxed out...but I think long term it would have been a better investment...SG-1 will probably end up like MJ's return to Pro Basketball...just sad. As for Nielsen..it is imperfect..but it is the best we have..and I have to sell those numbers daily..of course ..figures Lie and Liars figure...it all depends on what numbers you had the previous night :blink: Then theres the problem of some major markets no even HAVING a UPN affiliate...or simulcasting UPN programming after prime...people having to stay up to midnight to watch... THEN...theres just the complete genre mismatch with a primarily Urban Network...Am I profiling...you bet....the demographics are what they are... So...It would seem Trek is dead... and maybe thats not a bad thing..because Gene was all about a unified future...with shared values and beliefs...and from what Ive seen on other sights..TREK fans are ANYTHING but unified right now...I feel bad for the cast..they arent even getting a decent finale....they have to deal with MR and MRS NUMBER 1 :ph34r: Would that suck? Thanks for your time fellas..now lets focus on some characters from another TREK series... <_< I could go on..but you dont care and Im tired... :D
  8. Time seemed to slow for just a brief moment. He looked around the ill-fated ships bridge. Most of the crew were still trying to regain their footing after the massive explosion from the torpedo launchers demise. He stared intently at his display which, thank Shaka Ri, was still functioning. The story unfolding was an interesting one, indeed. He could make out the lead ship falling back..apparently the last barrage had damaged it somewhat...he secretly derived a brief moment of satisfaction from this...but the victory was hollow as the second vessel took over the pursuit and prepared to overtake the Hatfield. The Republic was quickly catching up as well and would soon be in transporter range...followed by the Mothership as well as the shockwave that would finish off whatever and whomever was unfortunate enough to be around upon its arrival. Rok's mind kicked into overdrive. He didnt wait for the order from the Captain. Instead, he sent word on a coded channel to the Republic requesting emergency beamout. The Hatfield would not last much longer..even if the Birdies were destroyed...warp drive was failing and the shockwave would overtake them in a few moments. The remaining pursuit vessel fired a final burst of plasma...however, as the Hatfield slipped from warp..it passed just off the port bow. Rok lowered the Hatfields shields as the lead ship slingshotted past. The last thing he saw before being enveloped by the merciful transporter beam of the Republic was the lead ship coming about for a final attack run. The away team...battered and bruised...was finally home...now if home could only make it out of the sector without being destroyed by that cosmic tsunami...
  9. Are you serious? The Hutts have been slinging that "official" line of crap for decades...Jawas have the highest population concentration on the planet... The Hutts represent "the man" anyway...and in the words of one of my fav' movies "...Damn the Man" <_< ::awaits NDaks T-L thunderbolts::
  10. Rok stood on the bridge of the Hatfield. The two closing vessels had indeed been warships of the same configuration that had dispatched the Bolians. The Miranda class ship stood a better chance than a Bolian freighter against one attack ship...but two severely tipped the odds in the Birdies favor. Rok stood tensely awaiting the ships to enter weapons range. He had indeed wanted to engage the enemy...but now that the moment had come, he found himself more concerned about his crewmates aboard the Republic. But that concern was shortlived as the first volley came at the Hatfield. Green-Blue beams of plasma sliced through the space between the opposing ships and slammed into the rear of the Hatfield. However, the Captain had heeded his earlier warning and ordered Link to transfer all power to Aft shielding..as a result..they were holding...for the moment. Rok launched the first volley of photon torpedoes at the lead vessel. The phaser lock was sporratic so waited. The lead ships shields barely twitched as both vessels continued to bear down on the ill-fated Hatfield. Time was quickly running out. The lock icon on his display came to life but before he could fire the second wave of plasma beams washed over the shields of the Hatfield. The ship shook violently as the beams impacted the left nacelle. Several crewmen fell as the ship lurched forward. Steadying himself against the con, Rok sent a second volley of torpedoes accompanied by 2 phaser bank bursts. This time, the lead ship at least fliched under the barrage of weaponry. However, warp power was beginning to fluctuate as both shops were now much closer. Rok noticed a blip on his screen but before he could get a clear reading, a third and fatal blow was dealt by the enemy. The photon launcher exploded as the bar beneathe it was vaporized by a bolt of plasma ripping through the Hatfields shields sending bodies flying in all directions. Smoke rolled across the bridge as damage reports came in from around the ship. Rok knew a hull breach when he heard it and the ships computer almost immediately confirmed the worst with warnings of containment failure on several decks. Roks hopes rose momentarily with the recognition of the first anonymous blip on his screen..it was the Republic! But hot on her heels..was a shockwave of biblical proportions... To be continued
  11. OH!! You said why is it in JAVA...I thought you said JAWA..... THAT would be silly ..cause you wouldn't be able to understand it...unless you were from Tattooine and spoke Jawaian :blink: Forget I even said anything... :blink:
  12. Hey...with life happening all around me..I totally forgot my STSF birthday! Ive been wasting time and writing complete jibberish in logs that only Trek freaks like myself understand for a whole year now!!! (Technically longer..since it was last week) Yeah, me!! :blink:
  13. Talk about a sucker punch....WOW! I was actually in the Republic Sim catching Sci Fi's repeat broadcast on Monday night...I was like .....WHAT? Kind of my same reaction regarding the Doc and Starbuck but a little more intense.. :blink: I gotta say...this show is getting some serious teeth...and I like it :blink: Gotta wonder what the future of Helo and Sharon/Boomer (#12?) holds... Cant wait for next season......... :blink:
  14. Ki'Rok was headed back to the main bridge...He had led a small team to clear Engineering of any...chicken men. It, like the rest of the vessel, had been cluttered with the remains of the little beasts. To their credit, his team had went above and beyond...perforning in an examplory manner. But, to his chagrin, no one else seemed to be coming to his conclusion about this being a setup..trap..for lack of a better term. True...the evidence was circumstantial...but one would think they would want to act with caution...His emotions had gotten the best of him recently granted..but he was NOT acting irrationally now. Their situation warranted a heightened level of security and alertness. He would have to wait for hard evidence to emerge before pressingthe matter, though. Rok entered the bridge. Most of the cons now were lit and fuctioning...JAX had certainly earned her keep..getting the ship space worthy in no time at all. Rok sat at the aft science station and began running a level one diagnostic of the targeting grid. If he was right..the HATFIELD would see combat sooner than later..and the REPUBLIC would need all the help she could get. While the diagnostic ran in the background...Rok pulled up the schematic of the bristling warship than had attacked both vessels and probably all of the missing ships. He was searching for a weakness..an achilles heel of sorts. The look of concern on the Vulcans face gave the odds of finding one...
  15. yeah...Armada was not very complex.......but it WAS fun.....
