  1. He just hoped that his punishment wasn't going to be giving her back rubs. The thought of her cold, clammy skin entered his head and he thought he was going to vomit in his mouth. He steeled himself and avoided making a mess of the place and started looking for Root.

Hi Sweetie!! I've returned.....Hair has grown back. Besides....you always gave better foot massages. My corns have been getting sore, I need you to soften them for me.....

  2. “It’s not enough I spend my entire shoreleave in and out of her office all week long?? She has to come here, on my ship?? I can’t have an hour to have a glass of champagne and a truffle for the ship’s ten-year anniversary? She makes me insane! Has she nothing better to do!”

    “Apparently not.”

“Oh my God.” Huff rubbed her eyebrows as if it would alleviate the aggravation. “When did they say she was getting here?”

“All they said was that she’ll be delayed and will be here either tonight or tomorrow morning. I tried to pin them down to a time, but all I could get was, ‘When the mood strikes her, Commander.’”

“Fine. You know what? Tell the crew to attend the celebration this evening. I don’t care if she comes in the middle of it. If she fires me, at least I’ll get a vacation.”

Ksanders chuckled. “Sounds like a good idea. The celebration part…”

Huff smiled. “Yeah, well, I’m staying away from the champagne anyway. Otherwise I think I’d be obligated to disintegrate her with a phaser.”

I'll get you my pretty....and your little NakSanders too!!

  3. ::eyes narrowed and starring daggers at the door as Root left her office, Bethany fumed in anger as he had handed her the nearly empty reports and left::

"That little snit. Some grandson he's proving to be! I do all I have for him, and he produces this lame excuse for a report on Huff. The little ingrate! After I've had his grades fixed for him, and his promotions moved along. I should have known that the taint from Huff would somehow rub off on him. Knowing him, I bet he's smitten with the tramp, and suffering from some sense of false loyalty to the woman. Where is his loyalty to his "OWN FLESH AND BLOOD!"??

We'll just have to see about this.....Looks like I've got to become a bit more 'involved' in his career to ensure it does not go astray of my plans for him."

::noting the morning aid was off to lunch, she noticed that her regular aid "Randall" had returned::

    "RANDALL.....!! Get in here!!"

"Admiral, what may I do for you today, sir?"

"Get me a copy of the Hood's roster, and find out if there is anyone that a Lt. Rootman has taken an interest in."

"Admiral, what about Captain Huff? She's still in the waiting room?"

"I need to go collect my poker earnings from Admiral Kelsey, tell her that I was called to an emergency finance meeting, and that we'll have to reschedule for ohhh...let's say 3 hours from now. That should give me time to grab a meal quickly too."

    "Well.....get to it Randall."

  4. Hopefully no relationship to the Admiral Bethany. :)

Anyway... welcome to STSF! Hope you enjoy your time with us. If there is anything we can help with, please feel free to ask!

I heard that Randy!!! ::taking notes::

  6. Bethany wondered just how long this fool had been blathering and droning on about the exploits of his son, and how essential he’d been on his last mission. Commodore Jackman, took a brief pause to sip his tea, and then went back to mooning over his son. Her head felt as if it would explode at any moment. She had already endured a 2-hour briefing on the Emerald-Ruby mess, and just when she thought she’d get a few free moments to catch up on the daily briefs, this long-winded idiot wants to go on bragging about one of his whelps. She sat blankly nodding and giving an indifferent uh-huh about every other sentence. She was going to have to talk to Randall, and remind him about these types of meetings. Suddenly, the door chime sounded and she perked up a bit. “One moment Harold,” Bethany held a hand up to stop the Commodore. “Come.” Randall entered, and walked over to her, handing Bethany a square red disk. Here is that information you requested that I organize for you Sir, on this morning’s briefing session. The council has requested that you send them your resolution of the situation as soon as possible, Sir.”

Bethany gave him an annoyed look, and answered with an icy tone, “Don’t you think I know that already…. Randall?” She turned to Commodore Jackman. “I’m sorry Harold, but we’ll have to continue this some other time. I was truly fascinated. But, duty calls.” Bethany held up the disk, waggling it a bit, and walked over to shake his hand. “Give your wife my best,” as she did so. “Randall, please see the Commodore to the door.” Bethany sat back in her office chair as soon as he was gone, and started looking through the briefs as she waited for Randall to return. Shortly, there was a knock and he entered. “Admiral, is there anything else you require at the moment? If it’s alright with you, I’d like to go to lunch?” Bethany looked up at him, “What took you so long? Randall, what have I told you about these situations before? You are to break up any meeting with one of those known windbags, as soon as it goes over 15 minutes. I have better things to do with my time, than listen to him prattle on about his sons. As for lunch, yes I am now ready. You may fetch me a turkey club from the commissary. And I want extra bacon, and light on the mayo. And don’t forget the pickle. Oh, and make sure you get me a cup of soup.” Randall turned to leave. “Tomato.” Randall stopped. “Yes Sir,” as he turned to leave again. “But make sure it’s not lumpy,” Bethany stopped him again. Randall stopped again and turned, “Yes Sir.” “And make sure there is no skim on the top of it Randall. Well, get going, lunch will be over soon, and I don’t want cold soup. You are dismissed for the time being.”

“Yes sir,” Randall replied, as he left the room. Muttering, he trudged down the hall to get the testy old Admiral her lunch, “Miserable wench.” Perhaps if he hurried and got it back to her, he’d have time to go back and grab something for himself.

Bethany barely noticed Randall leaving. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he had his uses, and was very good at catching snippets of others’ conversations. Earlier in his life, he had suffered some hearing loss, and had to learn to lip read. That and he was fairly good at keeping her papers organized. . Medical improvements had since fixed the problem, but his particular skill, was a boon in large meetings and social settings. It still prevented him from active space duty, but he was smart enough not to complain. He had it cozy here, and she made sure he got certain perks, when she got information that she could use. Yes, he was a good little snitch and suck-up. Perhaps someday, she’d bump him up to Lt. Commander as a reward. Maybe.

Getting back to the matter at hand, she downloaded the contents of the disk to her desk terminal and had the computer run through the situation at Emerald again. She read through the request from this Prime Minister Verde again, requesting one of the crew of the Hood to remain as an ambassador from the Federation to Emerald. This Verde, he must be a blithering idiot, requesting one of those misfits from the Hood to stay on. Of all the ships to have ended up at Emerald, it had to be the bloody Hood. She had sent them out to the depths of space, to keep them from wreaking more havoc and to prevent more screwed up missions. Huff-tart. Of all people, it had to be Huff’s ship. God she hated that little tramp. If she hadn’t been off running around with that man she had been infatuated with, she’d have been back in time to have prevented the ambush, and Bethany would not have lost her leg. All the misery she had endured was due to this one woman. What really had eaten at her, was that Huff had been able to advance, and been given command rank and a ship, while Bethany was busy off-world with other business. She’d been close several times to having just cause for taking that ship away from her, but it seems she also had some backers in the ranks as well as on the council, which had several times overruled this action. No doubt how that happened. How to Advance On Your Back 101. No doubt she had gotten an A.

Now, someone from the Hood to remain on Emerald. Well, posting Huff there would solve one problem, but she could see her now. Huff sitting around with her feet up, drinking that dreadful green wine they produced there, living the life of luxury. She had seen a photo of this Prime Minister Verde. He was an incredibly handsome man, large, muscular and well, ok, somewhat green. She was damned if she was going to let Huff off this easy. She’d let her keep her ship, but she’d make her work all the harder. Now who else would be at least halfway qualified? “Oh-ho…now wouldn’t that get Huff’s undies in a twist?” Bethany cackled. “Yes, I know exactly who would make an excellent Ambassador to Emerald. McKee.” Huff kept going on and on in her reports, about what an asset the woman was to her. Not only would that tick off Huff, but it would keep that hormonally challenged chief engineer of hers flustered. With that woman’s good looks, she was certain that miserable Tellarite did nothing other than slobber after her anyway. She took a look at what the Prime Minister had sent, having not all the way looked at it before. "Ah look, she was one of his choices too, guess it's agreed on."

“Alright, that’s decided. Next a new First Officer. Computer, pull up most current roster for USS Hood. Display all personnel ranking Lieutenant and above.”

“Working,” responded the computer, “Displaying all personnel.” A list of those eligible scrolled to the screen.

“Hhmm, not too many,” Bethany continued talking out loud to herself. “List,” as the computer began to display the names. “Lieutenant Commander Kresh. Oh lord no. Not that deranged pig. I had enough of his mouth that last time I had to go aboard that ship. Besides, that’s all I need, a tramp and a drunk commanding my ship. Computer, next entry.”

    “Working….. Lieutenant Jonathan Quint.”

“No, no…though, I’m half tempted to give her that little smarmy Vulcan. Than again, I didn’t care much for the smarmy little Vulcan either, prattling on about how smart he was. Yes, too full of himself for someone who supposedly eschewed emotion. Besides, he’d be too much of a help to her. Computer, next entry.”

“Working…. Lieutenant Commander Noah A. Ksanders.”

“Hmm, now which one was he…oh yes, I know…he that was that little timid little security officer. Seems he’s been promoted, and only recently too. Beautiful, it will drive her insane that I just randomly promote one of her crew without consulting her. I’ll cut McKee’s orders, and then note that effective as of this date, Lieutenant Commander Noah Ksanders is assigned as the new First Officer, and immediately granted the rank of Commander. Yes, that should really get Huff going,” Bethany choked with laughter, as Randall came back in with her Turkey club and soup.

“Are you alright Admiral?” Randall looked concerned over the redness of her face, and the tears streaming from her eyes, as he set the soup down beside her, and waited to see if she were ok.

“Oh Randall, I can’t tell you how all right I am. Here, I have an order that I need you to draw up for me, and send immediately to the Hood. Send a copy Prime Minister Verde on Emerald, as well as to personnel, and one to the council as well. It seems that I’ve solved the immediate issue at hand, and with some entertainment value as well. Oh, and have them return here to Earth, so that we can officially promote, this Noah Ksanders.”
