  1. ::wonders how old he is in moose-years:: Happy birthday, Moose!
  2. Oh! ::pulls out tissues, and books ticket to Seattle:: It's so beautiful! Hmm... must be a big church. People all around the galaxy are coming. :P ~HD
  3. Hey, I just want to make sure I can relax on the Holodeck with a holographic Jimmy Buffett playing music at the tiki hut. :P ~HD
  4. ::waves frantically:: Hi! ~HD
  5. Long time no see, but I do remember you. Welcome back Rivendell. And Fred was just mad because you impersonated him in a hula skirt... oh, wait, no... that really was him. Hmm. :P ~HD
  6. Yea, I was watching it in MSNBC and NASA TV. I've been following Scramjet for several years... the project about died on us about a year ago. I was thrilled to see it fly! BTW... I believe Boeing had developed a Scramjet craft several years ago, once NASA finished developing it. In about 15 years, we may be screaming across the atmosphere from New York to Paris in one of those things. :P ~HD
  7. Voran, Vanroy, and Garnoopy are all getting older today! And, along those same lines, Garnoopy is finally learning to speak full sentences. He's turning two! ~HD
  8. Wow, Republic. You're getting old. Happy birthday. ;) ~HD
  9. Woohoo, LoAmi! Congradulations. ;) ~HD
  10. Congrats! Close race. ;) ~HD
  11. This reminds me of an old Pete and Pete episode... along with some early Super Bowls. ;) ~HD
  12. How many national TV broadcasts of Bush-supporting concerts, etc., did you see? ;) Of course the democrats control the airways. My brother has worked in several different media mediums, and I'm yet to be surprised by very many broadcasting decisions. *shrug* BTW, I agree with Sketti entirely. (And, ah, aswe... I didn't mean anything harsh by my first post in this topic. Hmm... sure didn't intend for people to take it wrongly. Oh well.) ~HD
  13. I can't understand whatever he just said, and it is in the wrong forum anyway. :P ~HD
  14. Wednesday. It's closer to Friday. :P What temperature do you like to be in better: Vermont or Florida? ~HD
  15. I believe this is all that I have been to. And the world... ~HD
  16. My liking of you just went down the drain. :D Sadly, he's almost right! But, what if the Cubs played the White Sox in some scrimage or something? :) ~HD
  17. Boston Red Sox. I don't care how long it takes them to win, I want them to win! (After all, if one curse can be broken, I can't help but think the Cubs could have a chance in a few years. :D ) ~HD
  18. I read that Brent Spiner was going to make some guest appearances in Enterprise this season. I kind of want to know how that will fit in, but I'm afraid to ask. Ugh. ~HD
  19. Neat. ;) Thanks Garnoopy! ~HD
  20. I guess I didn't get to the site fast enough... did anyone save the image? I'd like to see it, since you all said it was so neat. ;) ~HD
  21. I am trilled for the team. It is a remarkable achievement! One of these days, flying in space will be like flying from Nashville to Dallas on an American Airline flight. It'll just be the normal thing to do. From here on out, aerospace engineering is going to be teaming up with aeronautic engineers to create some multi-purpose crafts. Wonderful! Cheers to the team, and here comes the future. ~HD
  22. Demore was seated in the science lab, going over what effects an ion storm would cause. The basic belief in the room right now was that, if Aegis tried to reflect the ions away, and save the station, it would probably affect one of the nearby planets. So, we would have to find a different way; save the station and don't do anything to the planets in the system. Overall, it was more of a science department problem. Engineering could setup whatever needed to be done, but in all honesty... Lieutenant Demore didn't have any idea what the effects of an ion storm would cause. He looked over at the science chief. "Brian, what if we gathered everyone in the station at a few essential locations, and shutdown the rest? Then we would just have the ion shield reflecting off of the smaller areas, instead of the entire station." What that would do to the unguarded area of the station was unknown to Demore. Brown ran through a quick simulation on his console. "Demore, critical areas, such as the power and computer cores, and all lines leading to the secure areas would need to be shielded. We would need to go space by space de-ionizing the spaces that are not protected. But it will work. Its your call as to where you think we can put the reflectors up. Once the storm passes, we need to go and de-ionize immediately. Even with power secured, any lingering ions can cause problems." With that, Brown ran the new updated simulation on the storm. "Well, I have good news and bad news. Actually just make that bad news. Looks like the storm is going to hit almost head on as of right now. We'll know for sure in just about 40 hours." Brown looks up at Demore. "Tag. You're it!" Demore glanced up to Brown. "Tag? Been a long time since I played that..." and grabbed his PADD. Several areas were critical to power supplies, especially Main Engineering and the areas around it containing the generators. They would all have to be protected. So, logically, you'd want to put everyone in the places that have to be shielded anyway. That leaves the Control Tower, Main Engineering, and all of the computer core decks. Out of memory, he began writing it up. "The following decks should be shielded: 1, 8-9, 20-28, 49-58, 100-104. New line. Midway section should be placed offline, as well as all of pylon two except for orbital stability systems. New line. All remaining personnel must be placed on one of the shielded decks. New line. Some of the fusion reactors will be in unshielded areas. However, there will be sufficient reactors in the shielded area to power systems in which people are located. New line. De-ionizing processes should begin immediately, with all personnel not currently working on any other activity aiding in the process. The de-ionizing processes will be led jointly by the Science and Engineering departments. End of message." Demore looked over to Brown. "If it sounds good to you, go ahead and send it to Meve, Ayers, and Hawke. Probably ought to send it to Muon, too. I'm headed off to get the engineering teams together."
  23. The downright truth? You can't have a sim until you have people to run them, and all of the GMs in STSF are doing their part. Many of the GMs are already pulling double (or triple) duty in sims, etc. Patience, young grasshopper. :P ~HD
  24. I enjoy the physics standpoint of it all. (That's also why I enjoy Stargate.) Star Trek has always been fairly sound in maintaining proper physics, and not doing too much of the insane. There are some instances where theories, etc., are stated wrong, but not a whole lot. Oh yea - I like to see stuff blow up. ~HD
  25. I dunno, Vex. They are seeking college/university students for the internship; my guess is that they probably won't have as many applicants like that. But, I could be wrong. I just figure most college students would seek a local internship versus on that must be conducted across the Internet. ~HD
