  1. But you do raise an interesting point. Does time-travel in the past actually happen in the past, or in the 24th Century? Technically, if time travel is possible in the future, and someone travelled back to this time, would we ever know about it before the original time they left (the future). Reese, there are several theories about what actually happens during time travel. Many of them just simply state that time travel is impossible; one of the more popular theories is that it is impossible to travel back in time before the time machine was originally invented. So, if you invented a time machine in 2055, you could not go back in time to see the dinosaurs, Picasso, the cotton gen, or anything that we know of now. You would only be able to go back in time to 2055, whether you left in 2430 or 2056, you will still only be able to go back to the original date and time the machine was built. But, this raises another question. What if you didn't have a time machine? There are other theories, seen in a few Star Trek episodes and movies, that create the "slingshot" effect around dense-gravity stars. The is pure speculation, taking into mind that Warp 10 is the "time barrier". Of course, many people believe that Warp 1 is this "time barrier", and crossing it will cause time, for the people travelling at that speed, to see time in the outside completely stop. Then you cross into other theories, such as, Can we ever reach the speed of light? So, your question would have to be answered in a speculative base. In theory, the Enterprise, depending on the medium of time travel it uses, could go back in time. So, no one knows if you would actually know that the Enterprise went back in time. And if you did, that means Picard knew he would go back in time, and made plans for the future in relation to events in the past; a paradox. Theories state that this is impossible. So to be completely scientific, your question has no answer. Mainly because, no one knows. :o ~HD
  2. Happy Birthday, Grommie! A commander and a birthday all in the same week....... Hope your day was great, Grom. :o ~HD
  3. :: claps :: Happy Birthday, Fred. You 60 yet? :: looks at picture of Fred, admiring antennae :: No... not a day over 65! :o ~HD
  4. ::chuckles:: And this coming from a guy that can't get into a simple java driven IRC chat room. By the way, Hew, did you happen to get that problem fixed yet? Heh... that wasn't my fault, Hawke. :o It was the provider of the service! (Urg... and a firewall problem, but that's been fixed. :)) What 'ya mean "did I get in"? Sheesh, Hawke.... I stopped in and visited your party you had a few weeks ago in the room! Glad I was noticed..... LOL! ~HD
  5. Have you gotten the newest version of Java from Sun's website? http://java.sun.com . I'd recommend downloading the newest Java Virtual Machine, just to make sure. ~HD
  6. I wouldn't call that the weirdest, freakiest, and simply most disgusting name you have ever seen Fred. :( I'd just call it the most annoying...... :: sees A9 shaking head :: But, I know nothing, see nothing..... ~HD
  7. I thought that Garnoopy was quite a weird name, but who was I to decide. :( ~HD
  8. I finally had to face it - I was tired. But, this was not the time to sleep; no, not until we have control of the system again. I must monitor the left nacelle closely, to make sure power flucuations don't take place there. But, at least Gromvik and I are getting along. He's over in Engineering on Aegis, one of the few secure areas on the station, with Sorehl and Muon. Small amounts of leftover Emergency power have lit up small areas of the station, but not anywhere near enough. With luck, the power being saved on the USS Pandora's Box will be ready for use on Aegis within the hour, and should be enough power to turn the lights on, and possibly a few phaser shots. For now, all I can do is wait, and hope everything goes according to plan. The only major problem now is trying to figure out a way to connect the USS Pandora's Box to Sky Harbor Aegis, and make the connection look natural. This will come in time.
  9. Happy birthday, commander! What is it now? 50? 60? 70? At this rate, you'll catch up with A9 by Friday. :( ~HD
  10. =/\=BEGIN LOG=/\= So far, the plan was going good. The instructions about how the link exchange was too be handled were quite stratforward, and had to be adjusted slightly to fulfill what was needed for Pandora's Box to be used in a positive manor. Right now, the left nacelle is not being used for propulsion; it is being used for energy storage. From what GromVik had stated, the USS Pandora's Box would not be leaving for any reason, so I felt that using one of the nacelle's for this purpose would work perfectly fine; and the nacelle could be converted back to propulsion needs in a matter of minutes. The storage would have to take place aboard the USS Pandora's Box in order for the system's sudden power activation to look natural. My plan for the power transfer is to use direct connection; instead of using the deflector dish to transfer power, a direct connection from the Pandora's Box will be made with Aegis. Power "lines" will be ran through the station, allowing for the connection to be made. I, and it seems Gromvik both, are afraid that using the deflector dish will call attention to ourselves, which is not something that we need. At the present time, the engines are running at 4% power, creating enough matter/antimatter mixture to create power for both the ship and storage in the left nacelle. The ship is running in a "neutral" state, so that the engines can work and create power, but not propel the ship. Enough power should be stored in the left nacelle for Aegis' lights to come online in a matter of hours. Now, the only problem is how we are going to go about connecting the Pandora's Box to Sky Harbor Aegis. The philosophy is set on 'how', it is just actually executing the plan that is going to be harder. As they say, this is going to be "easier said than done". =/\=END LOG=/\=
  11. heh - I love that "Customer Suggestion Box" label on the paper shredder..... I actually want one of those! :( ~HD
  12. okay that would be the THIRD stsf movie currently in production, we are going to go bankrupt! Something about that just doesn't seem right..... oh yea: Who are they gonna marry! :( And Vanroy, don't answer this question. A9's already stopped you once. :) ~HD

  22. It may sound hard to believe, but one of the most well-known airports in history has been permenantly destroyed. A saddened act presented by Mayor Richard Daley, he had wanted to get rid of the airport for quite a while. A nature preserve (supposedly). Daley sent police, bulldozers, and backhoes to Meigs field at about 11:00PM Sunday night (keep in mind that Meigs closes at 10:00PM due to close-proximity apartments). At around 3:00AM, the City of Chicago presented their Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that the airport was closed. One would speculate why the Mayor would do this at such a late time? So that groups such as "Friends of Meigs" wouldn't step in and stop the action. All they could do was listen to the reports from WGN. To me, it is sad that one man can have this much power as to close an entire airport. "National Security" was the reason for closing the downtown airport, even though Chicago-Midway and Chicago-O'Hare are just 5-10 minutes away. Meigs was a GA (General Aviation) airport, and had mostly small, single engine aircraft. First of all, a Cessna 172 (as we learned from the Tampa, FL incident) crashing into a building only caused 2 broken windows and a totaled airplane. Meigs, although in close proximity to downtown-Chicago, did not ever seem to be a major security threat in its own. Surely Midway and O'Hare, which take in airline aircraft, are a greater security risk, since they are within view of downtown Chicago. You can read the Chicago-Tribune's Story about Mayor Daley's actions against Meigs for a more in-depth look at what happened. The talk on the AOPA and other flight-related Forums has mostly to do with Meigs. The airport was a national landmark in it's own, because of it's beauty, it's location, and the fact the Microsoft Flight Simulator has used Meigs as their "home field" on the computer game. You can ask anyone who has landed at Meigs how wonderful it is - the sights are amazing. Unfortunatly, no one will ever get that feeling again. Some pictures of the now-destroyed Meigs: Sincerely, The Saddened ~HD
  23. Well, I thought it was funny....... :o BTW, who would want Garnoopy running anything? hehehe ~HD
  24. Happy B-Day, Trav. ~HD
  25. That was hilarious! BTW: I would love to see an episode of Enterprise with Porthos as a "Real Boy, Now"! (Can't you just see "Porthoccio", with Porthos nose getting bigger.... hehehe. ~HD
