  1. You know... we weren't introduced and she didn't offer her name, so... I didn't ask. To preserve the time line.... But... she was a Lieutenant Commander... and not very tall. And she was... a handsome woman. Dark, piercing eyes.... If I had to guess I would say she was from Earth. A Native American, as we say. She had that.... fierce look. No nonsense... know what I mean? Whoever she was, she knew her job. And if I were you... I'd watch my step. Yes. I would.
  2. =/\= Personal Log, Encrypted, Classified =/\= Stardate nine five three one point two. James T. Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise. We are, once again, on our way home for decommissioning after finding and assisting the Reaent NCC 3345... G, with their trip home... their trip back to the future... whenever that may be. Officially... we were on maneuvers. Unofficially... we were hopefully not contaminating the timeline. Anyway, after consulting with the Guardian, Starfleet decided Spock was the one to configure their systems so they could slingshot around star... JG ten eighty-six. So...he did. We watched until they disappeared towards the star, and... I hope they made it. But I must say that the most amazing... the most encouraging thing about all this... is that I have seen the future, and... there is hope. No, there is more than hope, there's progress. There is... unity of purpose. Spock said there are... Klingons... working side by side with Humans and Vulcans on that ship; and there were so many other species I've never even seen before. Chancellor Gorkon said that if there is to be a brave new world... our generation was going to have the hardest time living in it. He was right. David's death. Gorkon's assassination. Forgiveness for past transgressions... on both sides... will be a long time coming. It will take generations. But I wish he could have lived to see the world... the universe... that he gave his life to help create. When I set foot on the bridge of that ship... the Reaent G, I... I could not believe that I was on the bridge of a Starfleet vessel. It was all I could do to contain myself, and I almost wished I could live so long... to serve aboard such a ship... to command her. So many things I wanted to know, so many things I wanted to ask. I did ask one... put their captain on the spot. He gave a... noncommittal answer. He had to preserve the timeline. For the sake of that_very_future, he couldn't answer. I wish he had... but I'm glad he didn't. But I did leave my own mark, in a manner of speaking. Before beaming back to Enterprise I gave her captain, Patrick McQueen, my lucky solid gold challenge coin. Enterprise-A on the front with her commissioning date... my personal engraved mark on the back. I've carried it for over a decade, and it's brought me luck. Since we're about to be decommissioned and I'll be in retirement, I figured he'd need it more than I. A captain needs... all the luck he can get. Now, with this maneuver around JG ten eighty-six, if they are successful... if they make it back to the future and if... that coin... makes it to the future... I will have a small place in it... something of me will have survived. I left him a little note, too. Had to ask the security officer... a Lieutenant Commander I was not introduced to... for obvious reasons. I had to ask her for a pen... and she had to replicate one! So, there are... few pens in the future, at least I know that. Anyway, I took a napkin from the table in the conference room... nicely decorated place, I might add... and I wrote the captain a note. Simple. So as not to give away... anything. I wrote Make a difference, Captain. Make a difference in the undiscovered countries. And I signed it. Yes, I did. James... Tiberius... Kirk. Never signed anything like that before... probably never will again. Hate that name... Tiberius. And I kept a napkin for myself. It says USS Reaent but it doesn't say anything about a date... or a G. I don't think it will hurt the timeline. I'll keep it with my personal papers, and... who knows? Maybe Captain_Patrick_McQueen will see it in a museum some day. And won't he be surprised.
  3. This log takes place before the Enterprise contacted Reaent. Captain's Log, Stardate nine five three zero point three. James T. Kirk, still Captain of the USS Enterprise, NCC 1701-A. It seems that our decommissioning... and my retirement... have been put off again. Half way to Earth and we were called about a strange ship that the fleet had been chasing around the Alpha Quadrant. Why they send us... this crew... to stop their wars, put out their fires and solve their problems is beyond me. We've done our bit for king and country.... The ship is... worn, the hull breach barely repaired from the encounter at Camp Kithomer. I'm beginning to wonder if they're not just trying to get rid of us. They say... that this strange ship... must be from the future. It's Starfleet, that's for certain. Registration NCC 3345-G. Ambassador class, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen one like her. And... there's another ship in the fleet with that registration... 3345-B. Captain Quinn. I wonder if he's seen it... if they're keeping him away.... So... is it a ship from the future? And... if so... how the hell did she get here? Enterprise... this crew... has had its share of time travel. There was a short jump from Psi 2000 that took us back three days. Not long after that we were... how did Spock put it? Thrown into a time warp by a black star? That took us back to the 20th century. It was... interesting. But the most frightening... no, the_most_terrifying... experience... was erasing the existence of life as we know it... erasing the existence of the Enterprise... by jumping through the portal that calls itself the Guardian of Forever. Lesson learned. But... in doing that... we also found that the Guardian could be used as a tool... if used properly... by the right people.... When Starfleet contacted us, Spock suggested we consult the Guardian, which we did. That ship... the Reaent G... had been there before us, trying to find out if their timeline was right... which it is. So now we're looking for them. If they're trying to get home and they're not using the Guardian, then they must be looking for a star that will enable a slingshot maneuver. Not exactly the easiest thing to do, but the most... logical. The most logical place for them to do it is JG 1086, so we're headed there now to... convince them they need our help and to... help them. To do that we'll have to board her... without altering the time line.... without changing the future.... To board that ship... to see our future... the future of Starfleet... the advances we will make... the technologies... to see if Kithomer made a difference. All this I must ignore... for the sake of the future. But the question is... will I be able to? And what a temptation for our crew.... Computer, restrict all external communications to command authorization. Restrict all shuttle and transport operations to command authorization. Alert security to prepare for a total lockdown as soon as we drop from warp.
