I started this in case there were other Soccer/Futbol/Football fans here that are watching the World Cup. Maybe give us a place to chat about it. I'm rooting for the Americans, of course, as I was raised here. However, being that I'm a first generation Mexican American, as well. I'm also rooting for El Tri as well. But if (and when :-P) the two of them meet in the finals, I'll root for the Americans. Any other World Cup enthusiasts out there aside from me?

I started drinking coffee at my first job just so I could chat with this cute young admin assistant who drank it. I became hooked. Then I stopped drinking coffee to impress my wife with my will power to stop relying on caffine to wake me up in the morning. Now she's a raging coffee-holic. So I started drinking coffee again. This is Germany's cup to lose now. Spain has the better talent overall, but Germany has the form right now. Fearless prediction: Ozil (and Werder Bremen, for that matter) is going to get alot of cash thrown at him by one of the superclubs, same with Muller. Although I can't really see him leaving Munich for the time being.

Did you know that If I were to choose 57 people at random, there is over a 99% chance that I'll choose two with the same birthday? I just spent my lunch choose 57 random facebook friends. And then I did 57 random celebrities, and then I did 57 random athletes. What a wierd principle. . . I sufficiently entertained myself for the day.

I always had the fall back that once my America and my Mexico were out, I can root for any team with a Chelsea player on it. . .But England, who had 4 of them, lost. Ivory Coast with Drogba. . .knocked out in the first round, Anelka - France, Ivanovic - Serbia, Essien isn't exactly playing for Ghana, Ballack isn't playing for Germany either, and he's probably my least favorite Chelsea player. . . That leaves Carvalho, Deco, and Bosingwa of Portugal. . . . But I -can't-, I just -can't-, -cannot-, will -not-, am physically unable to, root for a team with Christiano Ronaldo. . . .I can't. I won't. GO JAPAN! I guess.

I just about had a heart attack during that game. . .If you look at the draw now, the US has a pretty decent draw for them. As opposed to playing Germany and potentially Argentina in the two rounds. It going to be Ghana in the second round and the winner of Uruguay and South Korea in the Quarters. Granted all three of those teams are good, they aren't on the level of Germany and/or Argentina though. As it sits, its not too crazy to say that the US has a legit chance to make it to the semis. At this point, it looks like we'd end up playing either the Dutch or the Brazilians in the semis, but who knows, anything can happen at that point. Let's just get through Ghana first, though. :-)

We might have felt it here in Ohio. . . However, Dayton Power & Light's underground infrastructure is literally exploding, that's might have what shook our building. But the time we felt the shaking coincides with the time of the earthquake.
