A runabout of medics and engineers from the USS Caliban has been dispatched to respond to a distress call being sent out by the civilian freighter, the SS Prospero. According to the distress call, the Prospero suffered severe damage while passing through a nearby asteroid field and requires aid and repair assistance.

I hate algorithm analysis.
I hate papers.
Please note the time of this posting measured in Eastern Standard. Or DST, or whatever it is currently.
Basically it's almost 4 in the morning.
Grargh.

Welcome back, Sage! Good to see you! :P

If you resize to a larger image you'll probably lose resolution. If you're reducing the image size you probably won't see much degradation.
-
I'm not entirely sure how the image uploading works on this board; however --
The image shrinking on the boards reduces the size it appears on the screen, but not the actual size of the file (the full-size file is still there to be accessed if you click on the smaller thumbnail, I believe). You'll want to shrink the file in some kind of local program. If you have a Mac, you can do this in Preview; I don't know what's included with Windows these days but I think you can do it in Microsoft Paint.
Hope this helps. :P

Haaaaaaappy birthday, Jami!

Hope it's an awesome one.

The USS Caliban (Miranda class) was recently ambushed by a team of unknown pirates in an uninhabited sector while doing deep-space survey work; they were able to fight off the assailants but have suffered severe damage to shields, propulsions, artificial gravity, and life support, as well as many injuries among the crew.

Sorehl, thank you.Your response tells me that you actually comprehended my original post.
I comprehended your post perfectly well; I simply did not feel it necessary to respond with an extended essay when my point only required a few sentences.
This is why the STAR TREK canon exists (which I believe but am not certain was another Roddenberry idea. I don't remember any TV show prior to STAR TREK ever mentioning it but perhaps SOAPs use them and they go back to even pre-TV).As a matter of fact the term goes back to the Bible. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_canon

Basically, Trek is a TV show, not a scientific treatise. It gets a lot of credit from me for doing a great deal to remain internally consistent, but it can't be expected to be perfect. So just enjoy it for what it is, play with what you have, and where it doesn't make sense, either work with it or ignore it...trying to force it to fit an exact mold is just asking for an ulcer.
Also...I would like to state my agreement on the excellence of that log by Scott. Kudos, Mr. Coleridge. ;)

Sam, I've had Cheeburger Cheeburger when I was in San Diego a while back, and I would rate them above 5 Guys as well.Interesting...I didn't know they were anywhere other than Maryland.
Fascinating...;)
-
I would rate Five Guys and In 'N' Out about the same, actually.
Cheeburger Cheeburger is amazing, but I think they only have that here. ;)

I have of late...but wherefore I know not...lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises, and indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory...
This most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire...why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours...
What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty! In form and moving, how express and admirable! In action, how like an angel! In apprehension, how like a god! The beauty of the world...the paragon of animals...
And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?
Man delights not me...

Have I ever mentioned that I detest Comcast?
Well, I do.
A lot.
"Oh, yes, we sent someone out today." "Well, we didn't see them." "Yes, it looks like they only did work outside." "My brother sat at home for three hours waiting for them." "Yes, well, I have recorded that they did arrive and worked outside." "Well, I'm so glad they did because it's still not working." "...Well, the next time we can send someone out is Monday."
