  5. It's ok -- I just realized (and got very excited about) the fact that Ensign Ro is played by the same woman who played both Admiral Cain in Battlestar Galactica and Judith Mossman in Half-Life 2 -- how's that for a geeky trifecta?
  6. Welcome to STSF, Scrollreader. Grom pretty much covered it -- STSF's got a wide variety of types of games, some of which deal with certain parts of canon a little differently, and the individual GMs of each game will be able to tell you more about their game's approach. I look forward to seeing you around the academies! <_<
  7. I just got my first gaming console ever in my whole life!!!! XBox360 refurb... I'm so freakin' excited. So far all I have is the Orange Box but it's a great value; four FPS's for 20 dollars and so far I'm not even sucking incredibly at Half-Life 2 and Portal. I'd also really like to get Assassin's Creed 2 and Mass Effect 1/2 at some point but for right now, very excited/satisfied. <_< ::geeks out::
  8. Welcome to STSF, oreides! We have training games (Academies) every night (well, during the day on Sundays) to help new players get acclimated to how everything works here, so feel free to stop on by to any of them, and feel free to ask around when you have any questions. The GMs will be glad to help you get settled. The schedule for the academies is at http://www.stsf.net/schedule.php I look forward to seeing you in the acads! <_<
  9. Whooooo, Happy birthday, Huff! ^_^ Hope it was a good one.
  10. Our Sim time frame is the 2380's, during the Dominion War. The USS Greenleaf (Steamrunner Class) is on routine patrol along the border of the Alpha Quadrant. The Runabout DeForest Kelley has been dispatched ahead of the Greenleaf in order to provide point recon for the ship. ALL Players are on the USS Greenleaf. This Acad Sim is a memorial run for the birthday of DeForest Kelley - January 20, 1920. 11. Haaaaaaaappy birthday Eeeeeeeeeeeva! =D
  12. The story was extremely weak, and in my opinion got even weaker the more you thought about it. But it was very, very pretty. (Though, I will add, not as world-altering as it was advertised, either). I do give them a lot of credit for creating a very well-thought-out and internally cohesive world visually, even if they weren't able to transfer that into the writing.

Our Sim time frame is the 2390's, after Voyagers return to the Alpha Quadrant. The USS Torin Kerr (Paladin Force Class) is on a routine patrol and mapping mission within the Ryder-Presit system. chatlog2010_1_7_.txt
  14. Denial...it ain't just a river in Egypt...
  15. ::facepalm:: ((My personal favorite: "Doc, note, I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness. I diet on cod."))
  16. Happy holidays to you all! Hope they're all fantastic.
  17. I have come to the realization this year that I *detest* "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts roasting..." etc.) as well as The Little Drummer Boy and "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth." There's a song (originally French, I think) called "The Friendly Beasts" which I discvoered many years ago and which no one seems to have ever heard of but me, but I highly suggest you check it out.
  18. Personally, I cut my teeth as a Trekkie on Voyager -- I'd seen TNG before that, and a few of the TOS movies, but Voyager was the first one I really followed as it unfolded and I love it. Had a major crush on Tom Paris when I was a relative young'n and really got a kick out of most of the plots. Have since discovered DS9 and it's taken its place as my favorite but I still love Voyager (though I do feel aspects of it went downhill in the last season). So not everyone dislikes it.

  23. I have been trying for eight years to beat Minesweeper on expert, and I like to consider myself a relatively intelligent person. I'm beginning to think that the answer involves selling one's soul to the devil. ((Of course, it might help if I didn't use a Mac, as that somewhat accounts for some of the last three years or so. ))
  24. For the record (especially if you're planning to wear it) -- About six months ago I bought a uniform custom-made to my size specifications for about a hundred and fifty dollars. The end result did not actually fit or match up to the images I had submitted. When it comes to costume stuff, you're more or less going to get what you pay for, and anything under three or four hundred dollars will not come up to particularly high-level quality. That being said, it's really fun to say that you have a costume at all. :D So if it's something you're interested in and that you feel you can afford, go for it.
  25. The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes, The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening, Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains, Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys, Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap, And seeing that it was a soft October night, Curled once about the house, and fell asleep. And indeed there will be time For the yellow smoke that slides along the street, Rubbing its back upon the window-panes; There will be time, there will be time To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet; There will be time to murder and create, And time for all the works and days of hands That lift and drop a question on your plate; Time for you and time for me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea. In the room the women come and go Talking of Michelangelo. And indeed there will be time To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?” Time to turn back and descend the stair, With a bald spot in the middle of my hair— [They will say: “How his hair is growing thin!”] My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin, My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin— [They will say: “But how his arms and legs are thin!”] Do I dare Disturb the universe? In a minute there is time For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse. -- from "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S Eliot I <3 Eliot. :D Muchly. That being said, would anyone be willing to write me a five-page paper on this poem? Kthnxbai. Finals weeks suck.
