  1. Assistant Security Officer's Personal Log Brian Graham USS Excalibur Stardate 200404.14 *This log occurs before the Excalibur departed for the Gamma Quadrant* Brian Graham looked out the cockpit and scanned the open ocean. He had to admit, the Holodeck did do an alright job of recreating the Atlantic. Turning his attention back to the situation at hand, Brian waited for the order to take off, while the engine of his aircraft drowned out practically every other noise. After the sixth aircraft had soared into the sky, Brian finally got the go-ahead and gunned the throttle. The Swordfish accelerated down the deck of the HMS Ark Royal and Brian pulled back on the stick, joining the simulated planes alrady in flight. Forming up, Brian waited for the other eight bombers to get into formation. Finally, they were ready, and the flight group turned south east and proceeded at full speed. Brian looked down at the console, seeing dials and switches, far different from the LCARS panels he was accustomed to. Come to think of it, this entire program was as far away from anything Starfleet, especially the craft Brian currently occupied. Definately not a regular shuttlecraft, the Swordfish was a fixed wing biplane, better suited for a museum or a relic of some Ferengi collector. The 18-inch torpedo strapped to the underbelly was also sub-par. No guidance system, no antimatter charge, but still it was sufficient for what they were going up against. The uneventful ride finally culminated when the flight's target came into view, the battleship Bismarck. The vessel that had kept the British admiralty on the edge of thier seats, as well as any cargo ship captain in the Atlantic. "Alright chaps, let's take care of thatbucket" came the order over the Swodfish's radio. "Stay sharp and prepare for your torpedo runs." Brian dropped the Swordfish down closer to the ocean. Suddenly, Bismarck's anitaircraft batteries opened up, sending deadly fire at the attackers. "Computer, are the safety protocols functioning?" Brian suddenly asked. "The Holodeck's safety protocols are online and functioning normally," came the computer's reply, much to Brian's relief. "Good, keep them that way if you will" Brian said, not wanting to think about what that imcoming fire did to human tissue. Shaking the thought away, Brian concentrated on keeping his plane on course toward the hulk. Bismarck began evasive maneuvers, turning to port. "We're entering range, stand by..." came his commander's further report, "steady, steady...drop torpedos!" Hitting the drop switch, the torpedo fell out of its cradle and entered to cold sea, on course for its target. Brain attempted to copy history, hoping the torpedo would hit the Bismarck's rudder, jamming it. With his ordanance deployed, Brian pulled up and left, about to bring his plane to a course that would take him back to the Ark Royal. However, before he could even swing the plane around, a shot from the Bismarck ripped into the forward part of his plane. "Bugger!" Brian yelled, attempting to get control of his aircraft. Turning to see where the ship's gunners were concentrating their fire, Brian caught a glimpse of an explosion of the ship's aft quarter, signalling a direct hit on Bismarck's rudder. "Great, mission complete and my plane gets shot to pieces!" Brain grumbled, definately not happy. The engine was smoking quite badly, and finally died. Without the engine to keep the prop going, the Swordfish started to lose altitude and head toward the Atlantic Ocean. Realizing the situation was hopeless, and the ocean looming ever closer, Brian had only one option to consider, "Bloody. Computer end program." With that simple command, everything in the Holodeck froze in position and the churning water and sky dissappeared and changed into the familiar grid of an empty holodeck. Hopping out of the plane, Brian turned around just in time to see the aircraft phase out of existance as well. "Bugger" Brian whispered again, removing the flight goggles he had been wearing, and walking out of the Holodeck
  2. Nice game Vex, look forward to other versions. One question: What's the deal with the map? Are we going to be able to warp to other areas and how come the only ship I can engage are Jem Hadar fighters and Cardassian Hidekis?
  3. Assistant Security Officer's Personal Log Brian Graham USS Excalibur Stardate 200404.09 After helping to get the cargo around that the Excalibur was taking on, Brian decided that this would be an excellent opportunity to set foot on Deep Space Nine. After being approved for debarkation, Brian officially left the ship and boarded teh Cardassian-built station. It did look different to him, since he was used to Federation designs. However, he looked at it as a way to be exposed to some different achitecture. Brian decided to head directly for the Promenade, since that is where everyone went and seemed to be where the most activity was. As Brian emerged onto the Promenade, he was suprised at how spacious it was. He decided that a drink at Quark's would be the best way to meet others, and set a course for the famous tavern.
  4. The Human Fund was a fake non-profit organization created by George Castanza in "Seinfeld". He created it so he could give out Christmas presents that said "A donation has been made in your name to the Human Fund". In this way, George spent no money on gifts, except the paper and ink used to produce the cards. Guite ingenious acually, however it all fell apart when his boss decided to make a $20,000 donation and found out that there was no Human Fund. Good episode, you all should watch it
  5. I think this is a way for Vex to get on the Admiral's good side so he can secure a promotion. How very sinister. Umm, anyone want to contibute to the "Get Admiral Day a new house fund"?? Yeah yeah, just thought I'd try  Seriously though, let's contribute to the Human fund!!
  6. Brian Graham walked down the corridor, mentally singing "Juke Box Hero." Farther along the corridor, a turbolift door opened and out walked Semek… Semek holding a padd slowly makes a progression down the corridor while being bumped into by Lt. Graham who had not been watching where he was going "Whoops, sorry Semek, wasn't really paying attention. Are you alright?" "Excuse me Lt" Semek says calmly, though a little bit of annoyance is felt through his Vulcan calm. Wanting to get past the accident as well, Brian quickly changed the subject. "My fault. What are you reading?" Brian asked. Semek looked over at the curious lieutenant. "I am studying the mating rituals of Bolia, in preparation of a future conference." makes a motion to begin leaving. "Mating rituals? What kind of conference are you going too heh heh?” Brian jokingly asked while simultaneously elbowing Semek in the arm, attempting to enforce the humor. Semek quirks his brow, "Hmmmm yes, one of your bizarre human gestures, I had thought it disappeared. I suppose I thought wrong." "A Vulcan admitting a mistake? Let me document that, this will keep Federation scientists busy for years." "Not admitting an error would be illogical and dishonest" Semek quirks brow "As a Vulcan I do not lie." "Yeah I guess your right. You know I was just busting your chops though right?" Brian asked, hoping he did not offend the Vulcan. That is, if unless taking offense was an emotion, in which case he had not. Brian shook his head, realizing he was analyzing this conversation too much. "Busting my chops? A crude metaphor" Semek attempts to exit the situation again. Brian noticed that Semek was being quite obvious that he wanted to be on his way. "Bloody Semek, are you in a hurry or something?" "I am not in a hurry, though I would like to continue my studies" Semek said noticing the Lt's emotional response. Having never associated much with Vulcans in a non-formal setting, Brian decided to take the opportunity now. "Bah, you can study anytime. How about roaming the ship?" "I am well versed in the layout of the Excalibur, and I have no need to roam it" Semek said still attempting to create an exit for himself. "I don't mean for research Semek," relied Brian, suddenly realizing why some found it difficult to converse with Vulcans, "I mean for recreation. You can't meet people with your eyes on a PADD." "I find research my similar activity to your human recreation" Semek replied, putting up more emotional barriers "I have no need to socialize at this moment Lt." Hoping that scientific research might sway the pillar of Vulcan neutrality, Brian made another attempt. "Nonsense Semek, even Vulcans need association. Actually, some research has shown that people work better together know more about their coworkers, so you should try to associate with the crew. What do you think one of the reasons I'm even walking around the ship is?" Considers answering the last question but decides against it. "I do not require to socialize at this time Lt.. Graham. Now good day" Semek walks away from Graham after noticing a small opening in advantage. Brian watched the Vulcan leave, already engrossed in the PADD again. "All right, see you around" Brian called after him. Continuing down the corridor, Brian considered how this "First Contact" went, pleased that it wasn't an actual mission. He wondered if the Academy had ever considered adding a class for cadets, entitled "Vulcan Communication Dynamics 101". If they ever did Brian seriously considered taking it.
  7. Lt. Jg. Brian Graham Acting Chief of Security USS Excalibur Stardate 200403.14 Brian Graham felt odd on board the Excalibur. Seeing the other Soverign-class vessel in space while sitting on a cloaked ship made him feel strangely Romulan. He quickly disregarded these thoughts and went back to monitioring the scans. As the San Francisco went along with the mission, the Excalibur stayed behind the scenes, scanning the system and ready to provide aid to the the San Francisco if needed. Keeping one ship cloaked was a brilliant maneuver, not tipping Starfleet's full hand. Brian was currently searching for the presence of a vessel that had attacked the colony in this system. Even though this particular colony didn't have the best of feelings toward the Federation, Starfleet never ignored a distress call. So far, nothing conclusive had been found. The Excalibur was only using passive sensors, turning up little. There were several places in the sytstem where a vessel to hide, some places where even active scanning wouldn't detect them. Brian had begun to think that the ship had hightailed it and ran when an ominous communication met them. Whoever he was, he appeared to be quite pleased with himself and somewhat arrogant. Claiming the planet was his and then having to audacity to order a Soverign-class ship to leave. Brian had no idea who this person thought he was, but doubted he could elude two Soverigns...
  8. Log Entry Brian Graham Acting Chief of Security USS Excalibur Stardate 200403.08 Brian Graham sat on the bridge of the Excalibur, monitoring the console that he had dedicated to security purposes. With the news that the simulation was being put on hiatus due to the need for the two participating ships to render aid, Brian had changed the plan of the Security department. All of the security teams that had been roving the ship, and those that had been placed in guard positions had been recalled until further notice. Since there was a high possability of encountering hostility, all of the equipment used by security was being reprogrammed to "Active" specifications. Brian took this time, while the two ships were racing to render assistance, to speculate on who would attack a Federation colony. The Borg had attacked several colonies in the past, however their current interest in Eart itself seemed to dispel that. The Romulans don't usually perform such a blatant agressive act, except for the failed invasion of Vulcan, so an attack on a colony wasn't their style. That left the Ferengi, Cardassians, Breen, Dominion, pirates, smugglers or any other violent lifeform that the galaxy seemed to spawn. Whatever the case, Brian hoped that they would be able to apprehend these criminals and help the colonists in any way possible.
  9. Brian Graham Acting Chief of Security USS Excalibur Stardate 200402.23 Brian Graham continued to monitor the information being presented to him on the Bridge console he presently occupied. It was a welcome change to be sitting on the Bridge among more seasoned crewmembers instead of a random patrol. Not that he hated those patrols, however any time on the Bridge was a welcome change, not to mention that this is where all the fun was. The Security Department had not seen much action so far on the Wargames exercise. It didn't come as a suprise to Brian though, seeing as Starfleet was primarilly concerned with exploration. Howeer, that didn't stop Brian from giving Security a thorough work out. As acting Chief of Security for the Excalibur, Brian had taken several precautions regarding starship security. Multiple security teams were continuously patrolling the ship and sensitive areas had at least two guards minimum posted to them. All Security teams checked in on a variable time table with both the Bridge and the Security office. Furthermore, Intuder scans were run continuously on all decks. Even to Brian this amount of security seemed excessive, but he also considered the resourcefulness of the crew of the San Francisco. The last thing Brian wanted was armed intruders having a field day on the Excalibur. Although he couldn't guarentee the Excalibur 100% invasion-proof, Brian was determined not to make it easy for them...
  10. "Computer, discontinue music." The shuttle became silent as Brian Graham hailed the Excalibur and requested clearance to land. With go-ahead from OPS, Brian took the shuttle into the bay and eased it onto the deck. Making sure to take his holorecorder, Brian disembarked the shuttle, nodded to the officer in charge of the bay, and exited the bay. After a brief trip on a turbolift, the Ensign entered his quarters, packed some of his clothes and headed for the nearest transporter room. After entering the transporter room and informing the operator of the coordinates, Brian stepped onto the transporter pad and nodded to the officer. In a few moments, the familiar deckplates and bulkheads were replaced with the familiar scenes of the English countryside. Turning around, Brian recognized the home that belonged to his parents. Walking up the short path to the house, Brian knocked on the door and was greeted by the shocked look from his mother. "Brian!" she said, hugging her son, "this is a suprise." "Hi mom, how have you been?" "Oh your father and I have been getting along fine, besides missing you." "Speaking of which, where is dad?" "Out in the field, where else?" joked his mother. "Ha, I should have known. I'll see if I can go find him." And with that Brian went out to find his father. For Johnathon Graham, this was the life. A small, self sufficient farm on the edge of the world. "Dad!" came a voice from off to his right. Torn from his work, Johnathon turned toward someone he shouldn't have seen in this area, or even this planet. "Brian, what are you doing here?" "The Excalibur is in orbit and I'm on shore leave for the time being." "Good then you can help me with this field." "Sure dad, just let me take care of my stuff and I'll be back in a minute." "Alright, and it's good to see you again son." "It's good to see you too dad." Brian headed back to the house to find some old work clothes, and Johnathon went back to work.
  11. Duty Log Brian Graham Assistant Security USS Excaliber The Excaliber has returned to the Terran system and is now docked and under lockdown. Admiral Day and Captain J'cin have been taken into custody. Commander Neo has been temporarilly placed in command of the ship. Ensign Kara Midanyl and I have been secretly working on a possible way of clearing the Admiral and Captain of all charges. We have been going over computer logs on the whereabouts of the visiting scientists before the accident. One scientist had been engaging in suspicious activities, and Ensign Midanyl and I are preparing to investigate this matter further... ***Personal Log*** These recent events have been quite disturbing for me lately, however I suspect I am not the only one affected by recent happenings. If this new lead proves fruitful the Admiral and Captain would be surely be aquitted, however I cannot fathom why a scientist would want to destroy an entire system and civilization, and destroying himself and his collegues in the process. What motive could someone have to committ such an act. I can only hope that this investigation will yield the anwers I, and Starfleet, are looking for. I will not accept negligence as the cause of this catastrophe. I am also reflecting on how quickly my life has come full circle. Only recently had I graduated the Academy and been posted to a ship, and now less that a month later I find myself back in the Terran system. At any other time, this would seen comical, however the circumstances are less than adequate for such a feeling. **End log**
  12. The Excaliber had been repairing a science station near a gas giant. My security watch had been uneventful and I went to Ten-Forward after my shift. An accident then occurred, causing the destruction of a pre-warp civilization. The Excaliber is currently on it's way to Earth, due to an inquiry reguarding Admiral Day and Captain J'cin. Commander Neo has given me the assignment of finding out all information reguarding the movements of the visiting scientists who were aboard the science station.
  13. Ensign Brian Graham Assistant Security USS Excaliber Duty log Stardate 200312.21 The Excaliber has been preparing for a Christmas Party in the Cargo Bay. Most of the ship's systems needed to be shut down. My assignment was to shut down the systems controlled by Main Engineering. Upon completing this, istead of heading for the Cargo Bay, I decided to instead perform an unsheduled security watch for the Bridge, seeing as almost everyone else was at the party. With the completion of this, I retired to my quarters for some rest. ::end Log::
