  2. USS Bozeman, NCC-1941 SD 2260.186 In orbit over Palekaiko “Captain Dodge*, we've located the Galileo,” the Bozeman's science officer reported. “Its located on a small tropical island.” “Let me see it Mr. Lovacelli,” said the owner of the “Welcome Aboard” tattoo. The mainscreen of the Miranda-class frigate shimmered, and showed the Galileo next to a cabin on a beach at local dawn. “Mr Stepanak, take a small Security detachment down and request Commander Wesley's presence aboard our humble starship. And if she asks, the orders come from the Admiral.” “Aye aye, Captain.” “And while you're at it Stepanak, bring back the Galileo.” -=-=- Audraya lay snuggled up to her lover, dozing as the dawn slowly broke, listening to the background sounds from the jungle and beach. The waves lapping against the shoreline, the sounds of native bugs and amphibians, the cry of a local bird, the chiming of a transporter. Wait, what? Transporter? With boots on the steps, Audraya slipped out of the bed, threw a silk robe on, and lightly walked out of the bedroom just in time to catch the knocking of fist on door. “Yes,” she said, pausing by it. “Ma'am, Lieutenant Stepanak, USS Bozeman. Captain Dodge is requesting your presence aboard.” She opened the door. “Does he realize that Lt Kvar and I are on leave,” she questioned quietly. “And keep your voice down, the Lieutenant is trying to sleep.” “Yes Ma'am, he does. New orders from Admiral Coyote, requesting you and the Lieutenant back on New Topeka.” “Really? And the explanation, Mr. Stepanak?” “Wasn't told, Ma'am. All I was told was to bring you up to the ship.” “Then I refuse, Lieutenant. Good morning.” With that Audraya slammed the door in his face. “Stepanak to Bozeman. Captain, she's refusing to go.” “She does have a stubborn streak, from what I hear. Chief Howard is locking on to their coordinates and will be beaming them up. Make sure you get the Galileo, Stepanak. Dodge out.” With a shimmering chime, coming from the cabin, Creek's XO and chief communications officer were beamed out. Stepanak looked up and said to his team “Glad I'm not the one getting a piece of her mind right now.” _______________________ * Captain Dodge and crew of the Bozeman are from the movie Down Periscope. 3. USS Comanche Creek New Topeka Spaceport, Drydock 13 1205hrs SD 2260.107 “So, you understand Chief?” Audraya stood in the Scheduling office, eyeballing ABSC Muldowski1, as she set her flight plan and shuttle request on his desk. “You want me to bury this,” he said motioning to the two data slates, “so far under scheduled maintenance and training flights that it looks like it got lost and you’ve gone AWOL again? Jeezus, Commander, you’re gonna get me into hot water when, not if, when the Captain finds out. I haven’t done 25 years in Starfleet just to lose my retirement...” “Don’t worry about it Chief. If Crash makes a huge stink about it, I’ll take the hit. Besides, we need some time to recover from the mental traumas inflicted on us one right after the other.” “‘We’ and ‘us’, Commander? You taking Lt. Kvar down with you?” Muldowski shook his head at Audraya’s nod. “Ma’am, I’m gonna have to let the LSO2 in on this as well.” “The less people who know about this, Bosun, the better.” “Understood ma’am.” Rotating around so he could look at the small craft spotting board behind his desk, Muldowski added “Take that loaner we got from the Enterprise--the Galileo. Its right up near the shuttlebay doors, so you’ll have easy out. And I won’t have to have the deckhands spot it for no apparent reason. When are you planning to launch?” Audraya had an impish grin on her face when Muldowski spun back around. “Thanks a lot Chief. This afternoon, when Lt. Kvar finishes her shift on the bridge. Oh, and if you could get some supplies loaded, that’d be great.” “I’ll see what I can do, ma’am. Have fun,” he said as the XO left his office. “I love it when a plan starts to come together,” she said, heading for the lift. -=-=- STSF_Scooter -> ::packing up:: Tifa Kvar -> ::Chimes Scooter's door.:: STSF_Scooter -> Enter Tifa Kvar -> ::Steps in, wearing her civie clothes, carrying a bag.:: STSF_Scooter -> ::closes her suitcase:: All set? 7. Audraya walked through the city, separated from the rest of the landing party, her mind goggling at what she was seeing. Sure there were the usual steampunk elements, but interwoven were creatures out of Forgotten Dragon Realms. The glitter of gold from altitude above the city indicated a gold dragon flying overhead. “Must make for some interesting air traffic control issues,” she pondered. As she stepped into a tavern she was immediately assaulted by images she had forgotten about while in high school, all those years ago... ::insert wavy flashback special effects...here:: Wade T. Wilson HS Pittsburgh, PA September 4, 2238 A 17 years old Audraya walked through the doors of Wade T. Wilson High, before the first bell rang, in shock and awe. All of Earth year 2238 had been a shock to her. Purchased by the man who adopted her and brought her home to be a part of his family, a crash course to bring her up to where she should be in the Pittsburgh secondary school system. Even five years after the destruction of the Kelvin, the even was still being talked about, and its far ranging implications for the Starfleet. Heading to her locker, she ignored the looks she was getting from her classmates—mainly the lustful looks from the boys. It was a skill she'd learned during her rather recent tenure as a slave. “Hey look who're back—its the geek brigade,” was called out, to accompanying gales of laughter, by this year's starting quarterback. Audraya looked over, and saw five of her classmates, surrounded by several jocks. A couple of them fit the stereotypical “geek” look—pasty acne sufferers with thick lensed “birth control” glasses—but the others didn't. “Gus,” the tallest of them said, “we have nothing to do with you.” “Bullsh*t, Gabe. You have plenty to do with us. In fact we're going to make it our busi...” 'Gus' felt a slender hand on his shoulder, and was spun around. “Well, hello there darling. Didn't see you there, you want something?” The lecherous look on his face twisted her stomach, but Audraya had seen that look on board the Audacious. “Gus was it?” Not waiting for an acknowledgment, she continued “Why don't you leave these kids alone? They haven't done anything to you. Oh, wait. I'm sure they have. They've embarrassed you every year at...what is it you have, finals? Yes, finals. I'm probably even sure a couple are on the debate team, while you probably can't even argue your way out of a wet paper bag.” The ironic thing about this? Audraya had managed to figure out most of that in about the first five minutes of her being in the hallways. “Why you little green skinned slu...” whatever else Gus was going to say was cut off when her slender hand gave him an open palmed slap across the face. “No man calls me that and gets away with it. And Gus, I hate to say it but...you are no man. Just a little boy. Heck, even if you were my type, which you're not, you probably wouldn't know what to do in the bedroom.” Snickers, and outright laughter filled the hallway as the new girl belittled the star quarterback. She was saved from Gus's 'witty' retort by the first bell. At lunch, Gabe invited Audraya to join the local gaming group, and introduced her to both the group and the original text-based Forgotten Dragon Realms, 2d Ed. “Purely the best edition that RST has put out. Sure there's version 3, 4, and an online edition, but 2d Ed has simply the best compromise of between character generation, combat, and storytelling. We meet in the library after school, and I'm sure one of us can get you a character rolled up before then.” -=-=-=-=- Elves, haflings, hobbits, and humans rubbed elbows in the taproom. A half-elven minstrel was reciting a tale about a goddess falling in love with a clueless mortal, her melodic voice somewhat buried by the more boisterous voices of adventurers recounting their latest “heroic deeds of derring-do.” Audraya chuckled to herself, having done some that herself, in character, after many an adventure. An elderly elf, in the vestments of a traveling priest, walked past her, and out the door. With a most modest of head shakes, Audraya grabbed a table, and wondered exactly what she's gotten herself into this time.
  8. “There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope. The death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender.” --G'kar, closing lines, Z'ha'dum Babylon 5, s3e22 [sTSF_Scooter] ::wraps her arms around Tifa:: I...spent the past three hours reliving the Battle. [Tifa Kvar] ::Confused look.:: The battle? ...Oh... ::Frowns.:: ((Takes place immediately after last week's Pause)) “Yes, the Battle,” she replied, as she pulled Tifa closer to her on the bed, wrapping her arms around her. Audraya didn't feel quite as...agitated as she had since beaming over to the Men-Hilsu. “Ensign Sakai and I were the only survivors from Entente. I can't help but feel the guilt from that. I heard that after we left to patrol the Vulcan colony world, Ensign Sakai resigned her commission to become a shrine priestess at the Cherry Hill Temple in Tokyo. “The battle wasn't a battle at all, it was a rout for Starfleet. Dad lost his life that day. I was in command of the emergency bridge on the Entente, and that it was my responsibility to take charge and fight the ship or get her out of there if the bridge went up. “But I didn't have time, herves; I barely got down to my battlestation when the ship became a target. The attacks were fast and furious, and the ship didn't last very long under the assault. 464 fellow Starfleet officers and crew, dead in less time than to tell it, that I was fortunate, I guess, to not see. But to watch two of my duty officers die within moments of each other...its impossible to describe how I felt, floating weightless, in what should have been a dark, airless tomb for Sakai and myself. “After the first couple of minutes, we couldn't talk for fear of depleting our finite supply of oxygen. The lack of life support, and the constant leaching of heat into vacuum turned our chamber into a freezer. I have no idea how long we were there, floating in pitch black darkness—the kind that makes the bottom of an old coal mine seem bright and cheerful. Minutes seemed to last as long as hours, hours felt like days, days like years. “When the Constitution picked us up, I stayed in the quarters assigned to me, didn't talk at all to Dr Boyce, their surgeon, other than treatment for hypothermia. Same thing when we got back, and he transferred care to Starfleet Medical. Its been a long, hard road, Tifa, and I'm afraid. Afraid that the next darkened ship we board, I'm going to freeze up again, and I'm going to lose more people under me...” Audraya's voice trailed off, but the underlying fear was still there.

  10. Stardate 2260.58 Aboard the Vulcan cruiser Men-Hilsu Audraya stood on the darkened bridge of the Vulcan ship and shivered. Her subconscious mind was playing tricks on her, dredging up the memories from two years ago. Always in the deep recesses of her mind, waiting for the right moment to come springing out of the darkness like the Big Bad Wolf after Red Riding Hood. Physically, she was standing on the bridge of the Men-Hilsu. Subconsciously, Audraya's back at the Battle of Vulcan, hearing the Entente enter into her death throes from Nero's attacks. The lights flickering, the hull screaming in protest, like a living being, as its being torn apart from the Narada's advanced weaponry until the dorsal neck fails. There's Lt. Perry...taking an exploding console full in the face and chest, going down in a spray of blood as razor sharp pieces slice through his carotid artery and jugular vein. She turned, Lt. Nelson getting hit by a live power conduit and grounding out through the deck, his bones flourescing under his skin from the current and voltage running through it. The auxiliary bridge's emergency lights goes dark as the batteries drain...the heat leaching through the hull, or more specifically what's left intact of the hull, since there's no longer life support. The gravity stators have long since wound down, bringing the deck's occupants into freefall. A couple of chemlights that Ensign Sakai had pulled out of an emergency box and cracked fitfully tried to illuminate the space, but weren't able to compete against the oppressive darkness. There's the constant grinding traveling through the dead metal as chunks of debris smash into each other, creating smaller and ever finer chunks, before being sucked into the singularity that was Vulcan. Entente was lucky, in that when she went down, she was located just outside what was to become the ergosphere. Audraya didn't know just how much time she and Sakai spent floating there, not saying a thing, trying to conserve their diminishing O2 supply. Then a swirly shimmer, bright light, solid deck beneath them, warmth, as they're recovered and returned to the land of the living by the crew of the Constitution... Audraya shook the cobwebs away and took a deep, cleansing breath of cold, stale air. She looked at her chrono, and hung her head. “Two hours, thirty remaining...this is going to be one of the longest hundred and 50 minutes of my life.”

  22. USS Comanche Creek Currently docked at SB North Star SD 2260.38 30 minutes after docking Audraya sat in her office, filing the paperwork for Crash's signature. Fuel expenditure and requisitions, purser's stores, bosun's stores, fortunately a butcher's bill from T'Aral that didn't include serious casualties. She puzzled, though, over the request from the Doc to ban the sale of cigarettes and other nicotine products from the ship's store. The door chime pulled her from he paperwork, and a glance at the desk calendar showed that she wasn't expecting any appointments. “Enter.” Two agents, in the stark black uniforms of SFOSI entered. “Commander Wesley,” the redhead said, “I'm Agent Scully. You already know Agent Mulder.” The gold oak leaf on their collars stood out, contrasting against the black tunic, as the agents sat down on the other side of her desk. “Yes, I do, Agent Scully. Why exactly are you here?” “We're to debrief you on Operation Whiteout, as well as your ship's temporal incursion.” “Wait just one damned minute. Your agency shanghais me while on leave, ship me off to T'tooine without so much as a 'Here's your contact and what you're looking for' and leave me hanging while I get informally reprimanded by my commanding officer. And now you want to debrief me, and include our entering that lightning storm in space? Surely you're not serious.” “We are serious,” Mulder piped up. “Your disappearance for several weeks had both sides of the Neutral Zone screaming at each other. It also doesn't help your position that Admiral Coyote mutinied and hijacked her entire task force when orders redeploying it came in. “Agent Harmon, from Intelligence, has also shown us a particular 'ghost' file that was residing in your mail inbox, Commander. Headers indicate it was transmitted from a secure terminal aboard the Revenge. Now, we could refer you to the witch hunters in TempCorps...” “Agent Mulder,” Audraya growled, “if this is going to be an interrogation instead of a debrief, then I invoke my rights under Article 31 of the Starfleet Code of Military Justice•. I will not answer your questioning without a member from the JAG Corps or my commanding officers present.” “Commander, please answer...” “Major,” she stood. “I am the executive officer of this ship, and a full Commander. Therefore, I outrank you, and I no longer need to conduct this interview. Now, get the hell out of my office and off my ship. Both of you.” Scully stood, dragging Mulder up by his arm. “Our apologies,” she said. “We'll continue this debrief at a time when you've had a chance to settle down and relax. Without turning it into an interrogation.” Out in the corridor, after the door closed Scully looked at her partner. “Way to go, Fox. You just had to turn it into an interrogation. I doubt she'll was to talk or even work with us again.” “Yeah well, you know, the truth is out there.” She smacked him on the back of his head. “Forget about that, Fox. Now we need her, for an upcoming mission. But your alienation of her wasn't the greatest. I'll have to talk to her...offline.” “What do you plan on doing?” “That, my dear Mulder, is a secret." •Article 31, UCMJ (Ported over into the Starfleet Code of Military Justice) states: (a) No person subject to this chapter may compel any person to incriminate himself or to answer any questions the answer to which may tend to incriminate him. No person subject to this chapter may interrogate, or request any statement from an accused or a person suspected of an offense without first informing him of the nature of the accusation and advising him that he does not have to make any statement regarding the offense of which he is accused or suspected and that any statement made by him may be used as evidence against him in a trial by court-martial. [c] No person subject to this chapter may compel any person to make a statement or produce evidence before any military tribunal if the statement or evidence in not material to the issue and may tend to degrade him. (d) No statement obtained from any person in violation of this article, or through the use of coercion, unlawful influence, or unlawful inducement may be received in evidence against him in a trial by court-martial.
