  1. Congratulations, Flannery! Well deserved! ::mutters something about the Manticore science department:::
  2. Oh, Yvon! :::swoon:::
  3. MISSION BRIEFING FOR 6-17-03: Several months ago, the colonists of Regula II were killed when the colony's shielding failed during an ion storm. The USS Janus (Akira class) has been sent to Regula II to repair the shield generators so that a new batch of colonists can move in.
  4. Under the Sea! Contact with the underwater research facility on Nemus V has been lost. The USS Janus (Akira class) has been sent to the aquatic planet to investigate.
  5. ::remembering when she didn't have a life and was on . . . er . . . 6 ships. :dead: And, yes - 6 was far too many to keep up with, write logs, etc. Simming isn't just a matter of coming each week, it's a matter of quality participation, interaction with your crew members IC (and occasionally OOC), and planning what might give the sim an interesting twist, checking with your dept chief and command staff, etc. One sim is plenty for a novice. With experience you might consider branching out with a totally different character on another sim. Just thoughts.
  6. Attack of the Mutant Tribbles!! Mutated tribbles, with razor sharp fangs and Klingon aggression, have broken loose on the science facility at Breka VII. The USS Janus (Akira class) is proceeding to the Breka VII facility to deal with the tribble menace.
  7. The USS Janus (Akira class) has received a garbled distress signal from the USS Zyan. All that can be deciphered is the phrase "computer core." It is known that Zyan's computer utilizes the latest in artificial intelligence technology.
  8. Good point, Spencer. I noticed, however, that those who were addressing the computer were largely ignored, and those who were trying to sneak around to get into the system seemed to be the ones who grabbed its attention. Kinda like a . . . . Nah... not gonna go there. ::snarkle::
  9. The USS Janus (Akira class) has detected a Starfleet ship orbiting Mycon VII. Initial hails have been unanswered. Janus is approaching Mycon VII for closer investigation.
  10. The newly commissioned USS Janus (Akira class) has been dispatched to Sol V (Jupiter) for stress tests and basic field exercises.
  11. The USS Grandstand (Nebula Class) is taking a cruise in Sector One, getting used to the routine of starship duty.
  12. The USS Walkabout (Nebula class) has been dispatched to the icy planet of Goth to answer a distress signal from a Starfleet medical base.
  13. Mission Briefing: The USS Walkabout (Nebula class) has dropped the cadets off in a forest on an unknown planet for some survival training. The team is equipped only with a rope and a tricorder, and the objective is to find a transmitter which is broadcasting a weak signal from another point on the surface.
  14. Most annoying, and Janeway isn't in there??? Hands down, for me it's Janeway. She has no command presence, she had an annoying nasal voice, she seems more interested in her pose than in the mission.... Two quotes that come to mind immediately: From a good friend who has been a Trekkie from the beginning of TOS, while watching a discussion between Janeway and another female crewperson: "Why do I have the feeling I'm watching a slumber party?" And my favorite - from my daughter: "Mother, anyone who sits in the command chair like that *deserves* to be lost in space!" 'nuf said. J
  15. ::harumph::: I don't think so... And what am I? Chopped targ?
  16. Grief, Fred. It looks like you've been simming all night! ::snarkle:: Seriously? Since I was born, it feels like. But I'm what you might call a newbie; I didn't start until the end of 1994. Yeah, they robbed the cradle. J
  17. ::snicker::: Good to have you aboard, Vexie ;) J
  18. Well, at the risk of being an old "stick-in-the-mud" and going back to the original topic . . . . When I post for an academy I give the first choice to cadets who have not graduated yet. For instance, if I get five calls for TAC I give it to the first real cadet who asks for it. As far as advanced academies go, I think it's a great idea. As far as A9's hair, age, etc. -- He's still just as debonaire as when I first met him ;)
  19. Congratulations, Starboi! Well deserved! J
  20. Ensign HD - aka hyper_drive graduated from the Tuesday Academy. Congratulations, Ensign! Well deserved! May your tour of duty with us be long and glorious!
  21. Looking good, Randy. Thanks for all your hard work! J
  22. Fantastic, Travis! Let me add my congratulations!
