  1. Congratulations to the STAR TREK SIMULATION FORUM Seventeen years ago we had a dream. The dream has come to fruition and it has thrived. Thank you to Admiral Atragon and to all who stepped forward to make it happen. Thank you to those who have come after and continue to make it prosper.
  2. We wish the crew of USS Challenger all the best as they move on to new adventures in Starfleet. Cptn Ja'Lale: USS Challenger Mission Brief - 26 October 2018: The Challenger has responded to a distress call from a nearby Star base which was under attack by several large warbirds and Birds of Prey. Also answering the call, was one additional Excelsior, 2 Constellations and a Miranda class ship -- 5 ships in total. TBS was none and we were in the midst of defending the star base. Any questions? Cptn Ja'Lale: I thought as much. Any ideas how to get them out? Caitlin Townshend: If the away team can open up access to the trapped miners and set up transport enhancers, they might not have to carry the miners entirely out of the mine. Hunter Matheson: Skipper, I can drop altitude to get closer. Dicey, but I've done it before. Hunter Matheson: Or that Cptn Ja'Lale: That works. Caitlin Townshend: Bringing us closer would probably help once we're ready. Dvokr chim Hok: How were they trapped? Dyan Sylvanis: Would it be feasible to use a lower powered phaser to create a second shaft? Caitlin Townshend: ::Hok:: Traces of weapons fire consistent with orbital assault … if anything, it looks like whoever attacked deliberately tried to seal those shafts. Cptn Ja'Lale: Bring us down as close as safely possible, That should help. We'd need some substantial evidence to prove it was them without a doubt. Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods.:: I'll send word to the quartermaster and have the equipment sent down. There's a fairly large dilithium mine here, which is where I would suspect most damage occurred. Hunter Matheson: Zeroing in on the 6th planet. Changing course. Caitlin Townshend: I'm not detecting any recent warp trails. Hunter Matheson: ::blows out a sigh of relief::: Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: That's good to hear Dyan Sylvanis: ::Keeping an eye on the sensors.:: Dvokr chim Hok: No communication from the system... Hunter Matheson: ::taps out the order, half hoping there aren't any bodies:: Caitlin Townshend: Scanning for life signs too, sir. Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: There are some faint signs of life in some of the buildings - there is major damage in the mining operation as well at a farming area as well. Dvokr chim Hok: :: taps :: Sensors show limited signs of light at some of the facilities. Caitlin Townshend: Definitely an attack. Hunter Matheson: ::mutters something he shouldn't about Romulans:: Hunter Matheson: Close in orbit, Captain? Cptn Ja'Lale: ::nods:: Yes, please. Caitlin Townshend: I'm having trouble isolating weapons signatures, but the pattern is consistent with an orbital assault. Hunter Matheson: Aye, sir. Moving to close-in orbit. ::takes her down:: Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods in agreement.:: Chances are they didn't even know until it was too late. Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: There doesn't seem to be any electricity coming from the surface. Comms and computer banks seemed to have heavily targeted Cptn Ja'Lale: I'd say that's a fair assessment Dvokr chim Hok: No other vessels in the vicinity, that we can detect. Hunter Matheson: ::any lower and she'd become scrap on the ground:: Caitlin Townshend: Looks like whoever did this hit their technological infrastructure fairly hard. Hunter Matheson: Going to stationkeeping. Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Other than the main buildings in the mining colony, the enemy fire also was concentrated on the dilithium mines themselves. Caitlin Townshend: I'm not picking up generator signatures. The few lifesigns I'm detecting are weak, mostly clustered in some surviving farm buildings. Cptn Ja'Lale: ::Nods:: I See. Let's try to classify all the life signs we can detect... we'll need to boost sensors to try to scan into the mines Dyan Sylvanis: Shall I have a security and medical team ready to send down? Dyan Sylvanis: ::Nods, as she sends word to have a team formed.:: Dvokr chim Hok: Looking for a suitable landing site, if we choose to get closer. Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: Initial scans indicate at least two dozen life signs in the mines though it is difficult to scan deeper into the mines. Dyan Sylvanis: A team has been assembled. Awaiting transport. Caitlin Townshend: I can't penetrate too deeply into the mines. The weapons fire has ionized the surface layer of dilithium; there is a lot of interference. Caitlin Townshend: I've got about two dozen life signs in the mine, humanoid. Dvokr chim Hok: I have alerted medical. Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: The mines have suffered considerable damage and have trapped the miners, about 50 metres deep into the surface. Dvokr chim Hok: We may need additional methods of retrieving those trapped. Hunter Matheson: ::itching to go down cause he's TCCC qualified:: Dyan Sylvanis: The team is ready. However, most of our buildings are either built in the service or within normal diving limits for our species. Hunter Matheson: :::pursing his lips:: Man.. not exactly easy. Cptn Ja'Lale: Ja'Lale> The water's a lot clearer than what I'm used to but it won't be a problem Cptn Ja'Lale: F>. The water is very clear and clean. It has to be since we feed on plankton swimming in the water Cptn Ja'Lale: Ja'Lale>. Hm, I might try some. I have been wondering how the plankton on this planet tastes like. Hunter Matheson: ::mental math... it's over 6500 ft... blink::: Cptn Ja'Lale: ACTION: The sub begins to move and sink into the ocean below, giving the crew a dark ride in the water lit by the sub's lights. Lots of small krill and plankton float about. Hunter Matheson: So... are there any fish or whatever that we want to avoid? Like that might eat us? ::staring out the viewport:: Dvokr chim Hok: That's 200 atmospheres of pressure Hunter Matheson: ::stop... turn to Hok:: All due respect, sir... not something I really needed to know. Dyan Sylvanis: ::Turns to Kal, maybe a little too excited.:: You bet! Hunter Matheson: ::nods:: so... inside the city or outside? Cptn Ja'Lale: Firim'Ja>. It's definitely our largest city in terms of population, but we Arcadians do not have a central government like most Federation species do, We share everything and live in a communal society with no real leaders as such. The fact that we have no natural predators on the planet also helped us grow a peaceful society. Yes, we do have shark-like things but they do not prey on us Arcadians.
