  1. Sky Harbor Aegis Chat Log for 26 June 2009 090626.txt
  2. Mission Summary - Sky Harbor Aegis – 19 July 2009 Security Officer Allen Armstrong is promoted to Ensign On Aegis: ~Upon her return to the station, Colony Administrator Hannah McDowell and Ambassador Drankum hammer out an agreement for mutual control of the archaeological site on TKR-117, with Aegis responsible for security. ~Reports from the shipyard indicate construction is still on schedule. ~The Medical Department enjoyed a rare relaxing day. ~Security Chief Dabi provided escort for Administrator McDowell while Security Officer Armstrong conducted routine security checks. ~Engineer Coleridge checks integration of the defense grid with the tactical console in the Control Tower. On TKR 117: ~The science and engineering teams continued cleanup of the trilithium resin at the archaeological site. Contamination has leaked from the original deposit site down several layers. ~Before leaving for Aegis, Engineering Chief Jorahl estimated that removal of the resin containers should be within the 2 days between games, but cleanup of what has already been spilled will take at least a week once a method of cleanup is developed. ~Engineer Fletcher set up several replacement power units for shields that will contain radiation at the source. ~Dr. Pavilion has returned to Aegis with the runabout, which will return to the colony with supplies for the science team. Time between games is two days.

  4. The Message In the 25 days since her return to Sky Harbor Aegis, Commander Chirakis had never heard that sound. It wasn't particularly invasive or annoying, and it wasn't a security alarm, but it did, for a moment, draw her attention away from the padds that had accumulated on her desk in the past few hours, everything from shipyard reports and defense grid updates to fighter pilot applications. It even drew her attention from Ambassador Joy Two's latest missive concerning the situation on TKR-117. The safety of the station and the colony was her first priority as Executive Officer, so, in the light of the radiation leak, locking down the colony and having all traffic to and from curtailed was a given, as was treating all the sick and/or injured – however the medical team had categorized them – in a secure quarantine area. But these were not her decisions to make. They were the domain of Ambassador Drankum, and the strain upon him had become more evident as decision upon decision piled upon him, like stones upon a pressboard. His gait, his forceful bearing, and his normally abrasive manner had become less so and his lean against the OPS console had become more pronounced. He had even paid Kirel a compliment, backhanded though it was, and had actually agreed with Ambassador Joy Two. The sound came again. A tiny pinging, quite persistent this time. Twenty three fifty nine – an odd hour. Gamma shift. All should be quiet on the station, and neither OPS nor security had answered it? Kirel leaned forward to place the padd on her desk and angle her eyes towards the sound, reminded of its purpose as soon as saw it. It was a convenience alarm that signaled to the Executive Officer, when present, that someone was in the other office. That OPS or Security had not picked it up meant that the access was authorized, but still she felt the need to check. "Computer, access security feed to the Ready Room," she said, rising from her chair to approach the large viewscreen on the opposite side of the room, then stopping short when the reply came, "Access denied." Access denied, which meant only one thing…. "Locate Ambassador Drankum." "Ambassador Drankum of Ferenginar is in his office in the Control Tower." At this hour? Has the situation escalated? A few seconds later her console bleeped as if in answer to the question. Upon request, the message appeared in all its glory on the viewscreen… SKY HARBOR AEGIS OFFICE OF THE STATION COMMANDER EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 06-01 DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY …and whether the answer to her question was yes or no remained to be seen.

  6. Mission Summary – Sky Harbor Aegis – 12 June 2009 TBG is 2 days. On TKR-117: Colony Administrator McDowell calls Ambassador Joy Two to discuss her worries about the engineers and science officers contaminating &/or ruining the archaeological site. She confronts Engineering Chief Jorahl and forbids the team from doing anything at the site other than removing or containing the source of the radiation. Science officers LeMorte and Lucindak confer with Engineering Chief Jorahl on how best to proceed with containment of the trilithium resin leak. LeMorte and Jorahl view 3-D imaging of the archaeological site and transmit them to Aegis for command viewing. Drs McKinney and Pavilion continue treatment of colonists on site. On Aegis: Ambassador Drankum, concerned with events on TKR-117, consults with Ambassador Joy Two, looking for ways to secure and protect the colony from looters. They debate Colony Administrator’s claim to the planet (rather than just the colony). Ambassador Drankum considers declaring a state of emergency to “assume governing control of the site with the ability to manage and secure it as required.” Under the watchful eyes of Drs Lepage and Delevan, the NPC Drs Krazynski and Hawkins, colonists brought to the station for treatment, continue their recovery. Security Chief Dabi and Security Officer Armstrong attend to matters of station security. The fighter bay is full; now all we need are pilots. Training begins immediately. Engineering Officer Fletcher takes off with supplies and shield generators for the colony, ETA 12 hours.

A reminder that our European-friendly academy will take place Sunday afternoon/evening at: * 3:00 PM US Eastern Standard Time * 8:00 PM GMT, Western European Time (London) * 9:00 PM Central European Time (Germany) =/\=MISSION BRIEF=/\= The Runabout Katadin (Defiant Class) is ready to embark from Sky Harbor Aegis for routine patrol along the Breen border.
  8. Hello, Greek. Yes, I've seen you in the European Academy on Sundays. Not sure what you are asking us to do. Could you be more specific?
  9. Strange findings on the planet TKR-117. Colonists get sick. Science wants to investigate. The colony administrator doesn't want her site disturbed. 090612.txt
  10. Thank you for that, Doctor. I hadn't realized it had been ten years. It was good to see that clip, though bittersweet might be a better word.
  11. Mission Summary - Sky Harbor Aegis - 5 June 2009 Drs. Delevan, Belar, and Lepage treat the colonists in the diplomatic wing while Dr. Pavilion works with those still on TKR-117. Science Chief Feretti and Science Officer LeMorte continue science work on TKR-117. Engineering Chief Jorahl has installed shields to protect the colony. Its hub is protected, but he gives the generators 7 days before the overuse melts them down. Science Officer LeMorte has taken a runabout for an aerial scan of the area emitting radiation on TKR-117. His computer detects massive metallic signatures that indicate land depths varying from 10 to 100 meters. The layout seems to be an overhead image of a city whose surface has been covered with the detrius of about 250,000 years. There are four signatures inside the structure, three of which seem full of resin and the fourth is less than half full and seems to be the origin point for all resin traces outside the metallic structure. Drankum orders a top priority full review of the structure immediately, with the assumption that it is a power plant of some sort. He mentions that digging that deep will take years and he requires new options be suggested before their shields go dead in 7 days. The first wave of construction crews along with Engineer Fletcher arrive at the shipyard.
  12. Oh, excellent!

  20. Sunrise on Aegis Activity in the cargo bay seemed to increase as Cmdr Chirakis' purposeful footfalls echoed on the deck. Hangers-on from gamma shift milled about with alpha's early risers, a few clusters here and there exchanging information before the shift change at 0600. A few heads turned and a few side comments were made, but Kirel paid little attention. She had other things on her mind as she strode into the bay chief's office. Progress on the tractor emitter was slow despite engineering's best efforts. It was fast becoming clear that the term joint alliance should not be applied when ordering parts and accessories. The resulting chaos of mismatched components meant twice as much down-time for jerry-rigged equipment with an added security and safety risk for anyone depending on it. As was her habit, Kirel Chirakis, Executive Officer and official oiler of the cogs of Sky Harbor Aegis, had risen at 0400. A Spartan breakfast followed her shower and fresh uniform – painstakingly adjusted for maximum effect – then a daily tour of problem areas. A proper assessment, in her mind, meant getting one's hands dirty, sometimes literally. In this case, Gamma Shift Chief Karlson had spread an assortment of replacement parts across a table with a hodgepodge of manufacturing origin stamps prominently displayed. Next to them lay assorted parts pulled from the tractor emitter. Their uneven wearing, stress fractures, and jagged breaks emphasized Chief Jorahl's concerns and verified a deckhand's comment, "You can't feed a Starfleet tractor using Ferengi control circuits with a Klingon plasma relay." Chirakis didn't even have to get her hands dirty to see that. By 0530 she was in her office signing on to deliver her duty report to SI-5 Director Torak. As his familiar aging face filled the terminal's screen, she noticed that the background had changed since last contact. The usual bland starship gray was now a deep green and a splay of light streaked amber across it from the right. It was apparently sunset where he was. A single orchid leaned gracefully from an ornately painted terracotta planter on the wall. Kirel recognized the flower as the spectacular red Disa uniflora that accented the Director's private garden on Earth. Torak must be at the family homestead in the hills of South Africa. Or not. He did have several backdrops kept for high-security occasions, but the orchid did look real, and his half-Terran face showed a tinge of tan. After working off the radar for over a decade, Chirakis Kirel found herself subject to the scrutiny of her SI-5 superior on a weekly basis. He, also, employed a hands-on approach to command, preferring to meet his operatives eye-to-eye over subspace for a proper evaluation of their reports. Often more information was passed by things not said, implications of tone and movement in answer to questions, than any other way. They had been talking for nearly a half hour before Torak broached his favorite subject: the lull in Breen activity. "I notice that Captain Halloway has been busy. What's your take on the situation? Coup? Disaster? Widespread disease?" He eyed the screen, calmly awaiting her response. Raising her head from its resting place between her thumb and forefinger she replied, "Whether coup, disaster, disease, or otherwise, they pose no immediate threat to Aegis. In his own words, he's keeping the non-existent Breen at bay." She gave a quick smile and a wave of her hand "I would defer to Captain Halloway's guarded assessment until more information is received." A decided grunt shot through subspace, an expression from Torak's native Xhosa that signified tacit agreement. "And the colony… Alistair I, is it?" "Not faring well." Here she paused as he pawed through a few padds on his desk, pulled one, and skimmed it looking for anything he may have missed. Such was the expression on his face. "Two days ago they sent a distress call requesting medical assistance for radiation poisoning. They've apparently been excavating and have exposed a layer that contains trilithium resin, source unknown." "Trilithium resin? Buried on that planet?" Torak shunted the padd back to the pile as a deep frown creased his forehead. "Not any more." "What's that supposed to mean, not any more? They've dug it up? Shipped it off? What?" Kirel held up a hand to quell the purple tinge that threatened to invade Torak's South African homestead tan. She rephrased her last statement to give him time to process the information. "They were digging for artifacts and happened to unearth a deposit, break into a layer, or find something that contained it; the report does not specify. The science department has determined that it is of ancient origin. Our most immediate problem is containment and treatment of the colonists who were affected by the radiation. Our next decision would be whether we investigate further, find out who put it there and why, or bury it and declare it a restricted area." Torak calmed considerably. "Ancient origin? How ancient are we talking about?" "A quarter million years, give or take." He blinked. "My thoughts exactly," said Kirel in response. "Given its age and where it was found, we can be fairly certain it has not been used for biogenic weapons recently – at least not within this millennium. And those who manufactured it or disposed of it there are probably long gone." "And what is Ambassador Drankum's take on all this?" "Extreme caution. Grave concern." "And Ambassador Joy Two?" "The same, along with concern for the indigenous inhabitants of this sector and our lack of diplomatic contact. At the moment, however, she is assisting our security and medical departments with preparations to receive the most ill colonists for treatment here, on Aegis. In fact," Chirakis shifted her gaze to check the chronometer, "they should be arriving soon." Another grunt. "Very well. I'll read the rest of your report after dinner. Keep me apprised. Torak out." As quickly as it appeared, Torak's image vanished to be replaced with the Sky Harbor Aegis logo. Zero six thirty, and the lighting changed to induce a feeling of morning. It was sunrise on Aegis. Within the hour the shuttle would arrive bearing two sick colonists and their attendants, and hopefully more answers.
  21. It's being dealt with.
  22. Mission Summary – Sky Harbor Aegis – 29 May 2009 Leilani Feretti is promoted to Lieutenant Commander Scott Coleridge is promoted to Senior Lieutenant Ambassador Joy Two, Security Mid. Allen Armstrong and Security NPC Bean plan security for the Diplomatic Wing's clinic. Dr. Lepage gives assurance that the colonists are suffering from radiation poisoning, that it is definitely not contagious but some of them have opportunistic infections which are no danger to healthy individuals. Only two of the colonists are ill enough to have to be transported to Aegis. The rest of the colonists will be treated on TKR-117 in the colony's small sick bay and on one of the shuttles, but the colony's shields must be configured to cover the shuttle and protect it from the radiation. Science data suggests the reason for the trilithium resin's dispersal pattern is artificial in nature. Ambassador Drankum orders Science Officer Le Morte to TKR-117 to find out why and how artificial chemicals are present on a planet no one owns. Hopefully we won't need a tractor beam soon. Deckhands under the less-than-watchful eyes of Coleridge and Fletcher have disassembled the tractor emitter and there is no reassembly manual. Chief Jorahl has condemned them to reassembly and taken it upon himself to reconfigure the shields at the colony. Ambassador Drankum's assumptions include the following happening in the 15 hours between games: The patients are secure on Aegis, The outbound runabout has arrived at TKR-117, Drankum has slept, Chirakis has read her mail, Nicolas has fumed, Joy has recomputed the meaning of life again. Engineering Chief Jorahl expects his engineers will have: rebuilt the tractor emitter, assassinated a deckhand or two, cleaned up, slept for one hour, been ready to jump into spacesuits and start putting up some walls on the shipyard.
