  1. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |11 December 2020 24 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.178 TBS is 20 hours - the time is 1000 hours (10:00 am) Aegis Local. The USS ships Rodman, Chi Song, and Agincourt are berthed for repairs. It is possible that energy siphoned from the ships could have been taken by cloaked vessels or be tested for weaponry. Cdr Coleridge and Ltjg Robinson will lead a team to board and examine the ships. The science team continues examining three types of plants that have appeared in various areas of the station. Curiosity led several children to sneak into a crawlway to see the plants on deck 188, and were quite surprised. Medical is keeping a close watch on the docked ships’ personnel. Most of all they suffer from malnutrition. Ragor Tal, devious and calculating, could be the driving force behind the illnesses, flowers, nebular mist, and probably several other schemes. Personnel connected to Rendezvous October are keeping close watch, especially Captains Chirakis and Je’rit d’Ka.
  2. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |4 December 2020 23 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.174 TBS is zero - the time is 1600 hours (4:00 pm) Aegis Local. The USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt were drained of power by unconventional means. The crews were left alone and are recovering. The children used the crawlway to see the flowers on deck 188. It was interesting. Tarisa: Miana> I do not see anything. Tae'Lynn Dran: I think I would need an actual sample of the Treevian DNA to confirm a link. There's some similar properties but I can't confirm much. Nijil tr'Korjata: When I look back at my time with Muuhi, it was really amazing to be someone else, but still me. Chirakis: Yes. Yes it is. Completely attached to me no matter where we are or what we are doing. Alexis McFarland: I don't see anything on you or anyone else either. I'm gonna take a long shower and dispose of my clothes when I get back to my room just to be sure Chirakis: However... Tarisa: ::Nods, but gives a little frown.:: Unfortunately the Alien Alliance stands between us and the Treevian homeworld. Annisha: Sonic or real water? Alexis McFarland: Both? mimipavilion: ::nods:: A bit of perspective, one would say. Sierra Robinson: Chubs> those plants were too scared to touch me! Chirakis: He is blanking his attachment to me so I will not know what is happening. And when that happens.... Annisha: Oh yes! They introduced that. You can make the water dance if you adjust it right. Alexis McFarland: Yeah, I tried that a few times.. it's really cool! Chirakis: ….something is drastically wrong. And it pertains to Aegis. Tarisa: Miana> ::Giggles.:: Nijil tr'Korjata: Yes, would have been enough to be a male there, but I was a female...with all that entails. :: cocking his head to one side :: Sierra Robinson: Peter Pakled> :: sweeps the area in front of his store :: Chirakis: He is Sindarin, and he may not divulge anything that might happen.... Nijil tr'Korjata: Muuhi got me though. Really good. mimipavilion: ::nods:: Nijil tr'Korjata: For an entire week she convinced me I was expecting. I mean how would I know how it feels? Chirakis: The only thing he has allows me to know that it pertains to Aegis, and he is going to double the craft that surround our borders. mimipavilion: Well, that's one thing I can't tell you. Scott Coleridge: Have you thought about… just asking him? Dacia Sandero: ::finishes checking up on all of the crew:: Hopefully it won't be long before they're all released. ::to one of the other doctors:: Nijil tr'Korjata: Oh Prani was not, or they have one long gestation period. mimipavilion: ::side nod:: Sierra Robinson: :: ponders things....what could she possibly think of the engineering teams on those ships… did not... those crews albeit small were far more experienced than her, and could not stop what happened and apparently still do not know what happened. Still it was her duty to investigate...for if this nebula thing visited Aegis....:: Nijil tr'Korjata: There was a time I was worried about missing the birth of my child with Jylliene. Tae'Lynn Dran: Well, what I do know is that the scans of the Treevian habitat show similar atmospheric and radiant heat markings as the vines root chamber. But I believe these vines would be competitors for nutrition with the Treevians, not coexisting. mimipavilion: Understandable Chirakis: There is no need to ask him. He will tell me anything needed through telepathically. Tarisa: ::Nods.:: Sierra Robinson: Chubs> Oh well... Time for me to battle Klingons in the holosuite, I slew 100 of them the other day... Chirakis: And for now.... he has nothing that he will divulge. Only that the area is in danger. Alexis McFarland: Ooh, nice. We all slew a medieval dragon in the holosuites last week. Alexis McFarland: That was fun, but the plot was really long. Alexis McFarland: Have fun Chubs. Tarisa: When I was there, I just remember the large tree systems. I did not see smaller vines. The thing that stood out to me was the use of drones they employed. Chirakis: :::stands and turns to the window to lean against them::: Tae'Lynn Dran: I read about that. I guess if the vines start building little toy soldiers we should be worried. Tarisa: ::Smirks.:: Indeed Sierra Robinson: Chubs> :: waddles off.....his real destination of course is the candy store ..he does not have permission to use the holosuites :: Scott Coleridge: We always seem to be in danger. Sierra Robinson: Chubs> :: waddles back to where the kids are...munching on sweets :: Alexis McFarland: More treasure is always nice. Nijil tr'Korjata: Okay. :: to Mimi :: May I ask another personal question? mimipavilion: Sure Scott Coleridge: ::Chirakis:: Well, if Captain d'Ka is trying to protect us from without… we should focus on protecting ourselves from within, right? Chirakis: Correct. Nijil tr'Korjata: Have you sought companionship yet? Maybe no one you are interested in on this station.. Chirakis: Although.. he is already within. How? I do not know. Sierra Robinson: Chubs> Hi guys I just killed five more Klingons....got bored...bought some Risan Cookies.... Chirakis: Commander..... Alexis McFarland: Oooh, nice. That was quick. Tarisa: Miana> ::Sniffs.:: I smell lots of sugar. mimipavilion: I have not on both questions. Chirakis: ::looks up::: What I have told you is classified, Commander. 3. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |4 December 2020 23 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.174 TBS is 0 hours - the time is 1600 hours (4:00 pm) Aegis Local. The USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt were drained of power by unconventional means. Faint traces of particles are everywhere, denoting that the energy was drawn out and dispersed slowly. The ships’ crews are recovering from malnutrition, and there is no sign of radiation. Questions to be answered: How was the energy disbursed without killing the crews? How was the energy drawn from the ships? Where did the energy go and what will be its use? It is paramount that we figure out how this nebular mist works and develop countermeasures. Starfleet will likely want to retask those ships as soon as possible. To that end, Captain Chirakis has suddenly become quiet and contemplative. As for other news, the plants that are growing on deck 188 intrigue Alexis, Chubs, Annisha, and Meg. In their curiosity, they decided to use the Ghost Squad’s crawlway to investigate the flowers on deck 188. It was a little more than an interesting encounter. The flowers enjoyed stroking and cuddling humanoids, but the children didn’t seem to enjoy that as much.

Chirakis: :::deep sigh as she pushes away from the window::: Alexis McFarland: Meg> Nice work. We just need to go down this ladder which should take us directly there. Scott Coleridge: But imagine... a cloaked vessel or group of vessels uses the mists to siphon away the power, and then they leave and disperse the mist. We have no way of tracing where that energy went. CdrBrown: It would still require a decently sized battery to store the energy, unless it was serving as a gateway to transmit the energy elsewhere. Sierra Robinson: :: pauses :: To develop a weapon system that leaves no trace of its attack is remarkable. And...a bit beyond my understanding of Energy Transfer Physics. Nijil tr'Korjata: :: nods to Sierra :: +Mimi+ This is Nijil. Scott Coleridge: True. So for now it’s just a theory. But the sensors didn’t turn up the tell-tale signs of micro-wormholes. Sierra Robinson: :: sips her ice tea trying not to be an intrusive listener :: Scott Coleridge: So, I guess that brings us to the bigger question of... why? Alexis McFarland: Meg> Not much longer... Scott Coleridge: This is *not* possibly an efficient way of stealing power. Anyone who can pull this off can generate enough power. And our ships are not themselves damaged. Pump them full of deuterium and antimatter and they're good to go. Scott Coleridge: So what has been accomplished here, other than to bewilder us? An industrialized moon, Utopia Planitia, Earth herself..... the gas can easily encompass objects of their size, and they would be able to drain/transfer magnitudes of more power than three ships can generate. Tarisa: Miana> ::Opens up the pouch to show engineering tools.:: Always try to be prepared. Nijil tr'Korjata: I'm me. :: smiles :: As she described the process. It's not an exact copy like you'd do with an isolinear rod. Engineering believes that the USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt were not drained of power by conventional means. Faint traces of particles are everywhere, denoting that the energy was drawn out and dispersed slowly. The crews of USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt are recovering from malnutrition and nothing else. There is no sign of radiation. The flowering vines on deck 188 have taken root near the cargo bay. So far they have done nothing that would endanger anything or anyone. However, the flowers seem to enjoy patting and stroking humanoids.

Sierra Robinson: Sooner or later I am concerned those vines are going to need plant food...and it is not going to be Pizza. mimipavilion: True, but everything and everyone has to come from somewhere and evolve. The mist could just be their form of a homeworld. Chirakis: Believe me, if there is a problem he will come to me and let me know. Especially if there is a problem that will injure us in any way. 7. Growth of an Empire ~ 4 A pouring rain, howling wind, and mudslides pushed T’jen from his ship toward the entrance of Ragor Tal’s secluded planetoid on the outskirts of their growing empire. Taking hold of the gate’s entrance to the cavern below, T’jen entered his code, waited for affirmation, and then entered. The gateway slammed shut and engaged the security latch. He took a deep breath and shook as much rain and a few splats of mud off his coat, then continued into the cavern, carefully stepping down several levels and avoiding several traps that would have thrown him at least 500 meters down to his death. Well into the planetoid T’jen paused, entered his code again, and opened the door to reveal a base of operations similar to any base of operations in any area of the quadrant. “Glad you made it, T’jen,” sighed Maven without turning. “I was almost getting worried, but knowing you….” “Yeah, yeah,” muttered T’jen, removing his coat and giving it a good thwap toward Maven which, of course, threw a substantial amount of mud over Maven’s clothing and just enough to land across his screen. “HEY,” he shouted, bolting from his chair ready to pummel T’jen… until silence reigned throughout the base and a quiet, slow pace was heard behind them. “Is there a problem?” asked Ragor Tal. “Not for me, sir,” quipped T’jen as he turned to face Maven, who seemed to have lost his voice. “Good,” replied Tal casually, but sternly. “Maven, clean it up. T’Jen, come with me.” Ragor Tal’s office mimicked that of Sky Harbor Aegis, as though he had acquired the entire layout of the station… which he probably had. “Report, ’jen?” he asked, settling into his office chair. “I do,” his second in command replied, passing his superior a tablet. “The Pakleds gave us a lot of Aegis’s layout. Most of the Pakleds were killed by the virus, but some of them were immune. How that happened….” He shrugged. “The Pakleds also passed out some of the flowers, but again,” he sighed, “some of them changed.” Tal paged through the information. His furrowed brow showed more thought than concerned. “So the flowers are not exactly what we asked for?” “Not that I could tell. Some of them made a few sick. But now…? The vines seemed to love being close to the humanoids.” “Love? Being close to the humanoids? Explain.” “The flowers stroke them and seem to be… licking them?” “I see,” said Tal, but he really didn’t. “And the nebular mist?” T’jen grinned. “Perfect. Sucked all the energy from the three ships, then vanished. I’m not sure if the crews survived, but Starfleet sent a runabout to find them.” Ragor Tal returned the tablet and nodded. “We have a few other things in the making, ‘Jen. It shouldn’t take long for us to drive them to insanity. However.” Tal leaned back, contemplative. “We have one situation we might not break through, and that is Captain Je’rit d’Ka.”

  10. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |13 November 2020 23 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.174 TBS is 21 hours - the time is 0800 hours (8:00 am) Aegis Local. USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt are berthed on Aegis. The ships’ personnel are under quarantine in the medical complex. Starfleet Command’s runabout Osprey is berthed close by. The nebular mists seem to have absorbed all power from the Oberth class ships and left the personnel alone, although that has yet to be proven. Flowering vines on deck 188 have taken root near the cargo deck. So far they have done nothing that would endanger anything or anyone on Aegis.
  11. Out of the Mist Just after midnight Kirel stepped out of the command lift with Lt Cdr Moore, commanding officer of Starfleet Command’s runabout, Osprey. Neither spoke. Instead they wandered slowly along the overhang of the commerce deck, each one trying to make sense of what had happened in the mist of nebula 231. It made no sense. The nebular mist of soft, wispy hues, pale pink intertwined with beige, cream, aquamarine, deep yellow, and vividly glittering gold, that swirled around one side then the other seemed to be ordinary.. The mist seemed to be no more than what other Oberth class science vessels experienced. To USS Rodman’s Commander Trajan, it was “the chance of a lifetime”. and it should have been. “It’s like they ate them up,” mused Moore as he leaned against the mezzanine railings. Lifting a brow, Kirel joined Moore at the railing. “Explain "ate them up”.” “It’s a saying, ma’am. The mist acted like more than a mist. It was like… well… some kind of animal. Or maybe several animals.” He shrugged into a sigh. “Like a gang that wanted all they could get. Or maybe a group of…. A group of nebular snakes? The group got bigger and bigger. Gees… it’s hard to explain.” “The group of…?” “The nebular mist, ma’am. It wrapped around the ships and wouldn't let go." “And the crew?” asked Kirel as she crossed her arms and leaned against the railing. “Dunno, Captain,” he sighed. “Medical has them quarantined until they find out… whatever they have to find out." "...which is the usual procedure, Commander. Walk with me." A slow, even walk down the stairs to the commerce deck drew little attention. Most of the stores were closed, Drankum’s Bar still had few patrons, and Chez Antonio was closed though it was always open to Kirel. Cloistered in a corner of Chez Antonio, they relaxed, put aside their ranks, and enjoyed a drink. Or two. Or three or four. Kirel was more adjusted to drinking than Moore, but he seemed to enjoy it. Discussion of the nebula became off limits, though it did pop up once in a while. They seldom discussed the nebula, though it did appear occasionally. Several hours later, bells chimed 0300 above the commerce deck’s waterfall. Moore almost dropped his drink into the... well, into the drink. “Zero three hundred, Commander,” said Kirel casually as she put aside her Romulan Ale. “Time to enjoy a much-needed rest. And,” she continued when Moore began to object, “that’s an order. I will inform you when the medical complex is open for visitors.”

  13. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |6 November 2020 22 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.174 TBS is 14.5 hours - the time is 0930 hours (9:30 am) Aegis Local. Focused on its last position, Starfleet Runabout Osprey searched nebula 231 to find the USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt. The ships were found floating through the nebula without power. The Osprey has located the ships. Aegis’s closest listening beacon is 427P. SFC Osprey is in contact with Aegis to assist. Science is working on the vines that have taken root on deck 188, possibly originating from the cargo deck. The flowering vines seem to enjoy caressing Mithraan fur.
  14. Out of the Deep Aboard Starfleet Command’s Runabout Osprey, Nebula 231 A constant 180 degree sweep through nebula 231 continued as Osprey moved through the nebula, searching for the three missing Oberth class ships Rodman, Chi Song, and Agincourt. The Osprey continued on its way while Lt Cdr Moore focused his thoughts on the missing ships. Arms crossed, he leaned back to focus on the situation. Lt t’Jana had honed in on a signal in the area of sector 503. It had a cluster of different colors, but as soon as they approached, the mist disappeared. Moore had reduced nebular frequencies 1.75 times to make areas of the nebula audible. It was interesting. The lieutenant said it sounded like dancing, or an orchestra. It echoed through the main system, but as soon as they approached the sounds faded away. Why? Osprey had moved farther into the nebula, towards the last coordinates of Rodman, Chi Song, and Agincourt and the nebular mist, coordinates two seven zero mark one three five. Hoping beyond hope, Moore continued to stare at the forward viewscreen until Lt Case called out, “Commander. Think I got something.” Moore swiveled his chair. “On screen.” “Nothing on screen, sir, just this sound.” “Mayday, may..y, may... . SS Rodma… assistance…. I say again…. USS Rod… nebu... 231… requir…. assistance…. Mayd..…. Ula….. 31, coordinat…. to follow. May..., mayday, may... . SS Rodma… assistance…. I say again…. USS Rodm… nebu... 231… requir…. assistance…. Mayday…. Ula….. 31, coorr...…. to follow.” Moore swiveled his chair. “Mason, target the coordinates. Stay on it, max warp. It’s not getting away this time.” Osprey flipped around, zoned in, and went to max warp. Within the hour Rodman, Chi Song, and Agincourt were dead in the water. “USS Rodman, this is Starfleet Command Osprey. Respond,” called Moore as they closed in. A weak, “Osprey…, USS Rodman..., Commander Julian Trajan,” came through the wire. “USS Chi Song….” Trajan paused, trying to take a deep breath. “USS Agincourt…. Need assistance.” “Understood, Commander. Stand by,” Moore responded turning to Ling. “What’s our closest station, Lieutenant?” “That would be Sky Harbor Aegis, sir.” “Get Aegis on the horn. Give them the coordinates, let them know the situation, and request assistance. And…” “Commander… no large... ships… mist drinks… into it.” “The mist drinks it?” he said, incredulous. “Yes. Mist Commander. Small… ships only. Runabouts… best.” “Hang in there, Commander. Small ships on the way.”

Starfleet Runabout Osprey has entered nebula 231 in search of USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt, that has been missing for at least twenty days. Osprey reported its position and has not been heard from since. In an attempt to find them, Aegis has engaged the closest listening beacon 427P. Focusing on the Osprey’s last known position, the search repeats in regular intervals. Science is working on the vines that have taken root on deck 188. In an attempt to track the foliage, a section with dye is being analyzed to trace it to its origin. Since they are close to the cargo section it is possible that the vines originate from there.

How were we not able to detect it until now? Chirakis: :::notes Mimi approaching but has other things on her mind::: Tae'Lynn Dran: Not sure without seeing the sensor logs. Scott Coleridge: ::Mimi:: Thank you, Doctor. I will take that under advisement. Tae'Lynn Dran: A stray seed stowing away in cargo is usually how things like this get around. mimipavilion: ::nods:: Alexis McFarland: Oh, that makes sense. I can read some Vulcan. Tarisa: ::Nods.:: We will get a clearer answer when the roots are located. Sierra Robinson: Mission injuries? Tarisa: Miana> ::Lifts her head up.:: Hmm? Tae'Lynn Dran: Oh, take care. 18. Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |23 October 202021 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.173 TBS is 0 hours - the time is 1600 hours (4:00 pm) Aegis Local. Unlike other plants found in various areas of Aegis, the plants on decks 187 and 188 have grown vines along the decking. They weave their way up the bulkheads to grow flowers that give out a sweet aroma, and seem to be watching humanoid movements. Starfleet Command sent the specially designed runabout Osprey into nebula 231 to search for the USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt that has been missing for over a week. Since Aegis was closer than Starfleet Command, Osprey reported their positions by the book until its reports faded into the nebula. The closest listening beacon was 427P, not far from Aegis.
  19. Into the Mist “USS Rodman, this is Starfleet Command Runabout Osprey, respond.” Lt Cdr Morre called, paused, then repeated, “USS Rodman, Osprey, I say again, respond.” Another pause. “USS Chi Song, this is Osprey. Respond,” he continued, then, “USS Agincourt, this is Osprey. Respond.” He sighed, clasping his hands behind his head to give his arms a good stretch as he leaned back from the console to stare at the ceiling and give his neck a good crack. “Anything, Lieutenant?” “Not so far, sir,” Lt Ling responded, checking her screen. “The only nebular chatter I get is… wait. I think we have something, sir,” she said, her fingers sweeping the console to pass the information to Moore. “Got it,” he said in a casual vein, not expecting anything new, but checking it out. "USS Rodman, this is runabout Osprey. I say again, respond,” he continued, then switched frequencies. "USS Chi Song, this is runabout Osprey. Respond." Nothing. "Give me a full frequency scan, Lieutenant. 180 degree sweep. Mason. Fire up and give me everything you can see, hear, smell… whatever you can get. Ensign Gleason, mark our coordinates and send them to command. We're moving in. Lt Cdr Moore rested his forearms on the console to focus his energy while he waited for a response. After sweeping through a grid for several days, he hoped there would be at least one sector that would point them toward Rodman, Chi Song, or Agincourt. Lieutenant Ling sat next to him, continuing to sweep the sector grid. “You’d think they would issue several runabouts to scan this quadrant,” quipped Moore. “Case? t’Jana? Anything?” he asked, turning to the lieutenants behind him. “Nothing yet, sir,” t’Jana responded, “but there is a very different signal coming from the nebular ring in sector 503. And a cluster of different colors. Sending it to your screen, sir.” A jaw-dropping mist several parsecs away seemed to dance through that area, not at all like the nebulae they had seen before. “Lieutenant Case? Got any ideas?” “Yes, sir. There’s something out there. My sensors aren’t picking it up, but if it’s changed to audio we might get something.” “Send it over.” On a whim, Moore reduced the frequencies 1.75 times to make areas of the nebula audible—not to humanoid ears, but to his console where he could remove the ordinary sound of a comet, of stars being born or dying, and quasars in the heart of a galaxy… and a few more. But he’d never heard this. “It sounds like…dancing? Or an orchestra. Listen.” Moore attached his gear to the main system just enough to be heard without blaring into their ears. “Whoa…. What does that mean, sir?” asked Case. “Not sure, but let’s mark the area and move in that direction.” A series of "aye, sir" moved them farther into the nebula towards the last coordinates of Rodman, Chi Song, and Agincourt, until strange crackles came through the wire. “We're heading toward a nebular mist Commander," said Case. "Coordinates?. "Two seven zero mark one three five," sir. Moore thought a moment, dropped a buoy into their area of the grid and sent their present coordinates to the closest beacon, Aegis’s 427P. “Move us out, Lieutenant Ling. Slowly. If they’re caught in a nebula, we might be, too.” “Moving out, sir. Heading coordinates niner niner seven mark five two zero.” "Engage."

  23. ((Reminder: Sim begin is 9pm ET, 8pm CT, 7pm MT, and 6PM PT)) Mission Brief | Sky Harbor Aegis |9 October 2020 20 June 2388 - Stardate 2388.172 TBS is 4 hours - the time is 1400 hours (2:00 pm) Aegis Local. We wonder why two Pakleds who ate flowers from the commerce deck are alive and well while the others died. Vines similar to the deadly plants that killed the Pakleds have begun to grow on the walls of decks 187 and 188 and are beginning to bloom. They have a sweet aroma and, although it seems strange, they might be sentient. Personnel have quarantined those decks to investigate. We still have not heard from USS Rodman, USS Chi Song, and USS Agincourt in nebula 231. A Starfleet Runabout has entered the nebula to search for them.
