  1. The away team uses a ruse of a medical emergency to get a few officers (Swan, Kent, Marx, and Pilot) to the ship. Most of the shipboard crew has been beamed down to the planet. They plan to use a loud, high pitched sound to cause pain shipwide and drive out the infection. Captain Lo'Ami begins getting extreme urges to go down to the planet and start zapping people himself. He calls Dr Raleigh to the bridge to hand over command so he can beam down. Dr. Swan activates the sound, curing the shipboard crew. The sound is broadcast to the planet, curing anyone in audible range. Arcadia recovers its crew.
  2. Dr Swan infects Dr Raleigh, then returns to the AT. Raleigh goes through decontamination and heads to the mess hall, infecting others there, including Ens Ted R'shir from security. R'shir calls Lt Pilot down to security and infects him. Pilot goes to the bridge and infects the captain. The AT finds Melos' computer records scrambled. They transfer the data to Arcadia for later analysis. Swan returns to Melos bridge and infects the AT there, then goes to engineering to infect that AT. The AT returns to the ship and goes through an ineffective decontamination procedure.
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Thanks, everyone! (et merci ̀a Seiben)
  5. << This is a broadcast communication from the Honkerian planet that would have been monitored during our TBS >> A four-armed creature sat in front of a plain background. Some chimy music played, and the camera faced at the creature. He began: "It's the forty second hour and these are today's headlines." The background changes to a large picture of the same four-armed creature shown to the Arcadia bridge crew earlier. "Our top story tonight: the hunt continues for the criminal mastermind who was convicted a year ago anonymously because his real name was not known. The criminal, who was convicted of crimes against society, escaped a week ago, initiating a planetwide hunt. He resurfaced a day ago at the Eastland Space Force base, where he left two dead and five injured servicemembers behind. It is believed that he may have escaped in a Space Force vehicle, and the search has now continued into near-sector space. Because of the sensitive nature of the crimes involved, the search and investigation into his escape is being conducted by the Ministry of Internal Security. Anyone who knows any information of his whereabouts is duty bound to report it to Internal Security immediately." The background once again changes to a picture of a large gathering of people in a stately room... "Ministers and officers from all over the HAR descended on Northland City for the triannual Party conference. Government officials will be discussing the next three years' policy plan, culminating with its announcement and the selection of a new Party chairman. The conference had been delayed by major ice storms in the region. The Interior Ministry has assured the Party that weather modification flights will be taking place as necessary to prevent any further travel delays." Background changes to a house covered with icicles. "Government officials are on-hand in the Northland to assess damage from the storms and to help those in need of assistance. In preliminary assessments, damage was mild." Background changes to a plate of some kind of food product. "Armour Meat products may be off the menu for the forseeable future because of 'supply chain difficulties.' A spokesperson from the Armour monopoly said earlier today that the disruption was a result of unrest which he blamed on 'religious zealots and rabble rousers.' He assured the HAR's Food Ministry and Armour's other customers that the company was working on the problem, and that the supply chain would be restored soon. He refused to give a specific time table." ...
  6. The recorded voice bids the crew to a nearby planet called Yendor. When Arcadia arrives -- much faster than they expected to, the crew is immediately beamed down and split between three separate locations on the planet. Comms don't work between the groups, leaving them all to fend for themselves. At each location, a staircase leading upwards leads to a locked door. Other equipment only has limited functions. Phasers are found to bounce all around the rooms. The crews find materials in an adventure-game style dungeon. One group hears loud growls coming from another room and encounters dangerous creatures. The other two groups explore. ChatLog.090513to090514.txt
  7. Sema'J finds that the psionic amplifier in the cargo bay is covered in nanites. The cargo bay is evacuated, and the cargo bay only irradiated. Black is strongly affected by the dust, and is taken to sickbay. A radiation frequency is found that will cause serious side effects, but isn't deadly or long term debilitating. The ship crew prepares for irradiation. All ships' functions are locked down for the time that the crew is incapacitated. The expected discomfort doesn't happen at all. The ship receives a strange transmission in Captain Lo'Ami's voice: "You have been heralded from birth as the instrument of Anu. You are destined to recover the Amulet of Yendor for your deity, or die in the attempt. Your hour of destiny has come. For the sake of us all: Go bravely with Anu!" ChatLog.090506to090507.txt
  8. As research continues, the plan is put into action. The radiation frequency that kills the nanites can also incapacitate the crew. Security uses low energy phasers to sweep the ship for clusters of nanites. Meanwhile, systems problems are reported on deck 10, leading to the finding that Arcadia's water supply is in danger of invasion by the nanites. Sema'J checks on the ship's stored psionic amplifier, on a hunch that it could have helped the common dream. ChatLog.090429to090430.txt
  9. Hi, I'm also a bit confused about what you're asking for. Are you asking for us to have an automatic time zone conversion button on the schedule page?
  10. Ships' systems are found to be functioning. Engineering analyzes the possibility that a telepathic transmitter is at work. Science and medical analyze unknown samples of dust are found on the ship and that medical found stuck to crewmens' hair. Science identifies the lint as containing small nano-organisms. An engineering crewman is found unconscious and brought to medical. Security identifies a possible source of the contamination from an experiment that was being shipped in Arcadia's cargo bay. ChatLog.090415to090416.txt
  11. The crew realizes that they had a common dream. The crew discusses chemical, physical or biological reasons why the dream might have occurred. Security begins patrols. Science scans for internal and external anomalies. Counselor Sema'J tries to find meaning in the dream. Engineering checks ships' systems. ChatLog.090408to090409.txt
  12. After leaving Aether, Arcadia personnel have a common, vivid dream in which doubles of the Arcadia crew try to convince them to perform actions that will destroy the ship. At the end of the dream, the warp core overloads. ChatLog.090401to090402.txt
  13. Arcadia's interference with Sam-Kent causes more instability in Aether's wall structure. Aether residents evacuate toward the interior of the city. Sam-Kent continues to refuse to tell Arcadia's holograms how to fix the stars. Kent is purged and the Aether Carress' walls collapse. Arcadia's crew is brought back from their holographic projection into the computer system. The alternate plan to use the inductors to transfer energy from one star to the other and to remake the collapsing star's internal structure is started. The stars stabilize, but will last for fewer than 10,000 more years. Aether's Neural Net is restored to service. ChatLog.090325to090326.txt
  14. Arcadia regains more control over Aether, with a team having invaded the hologram's computer system. Meanwhile, science tries again to try to figure out what changes were made in both stars in the binary system. ChatLog.090318to090319.txt
  15. Arcadia confirms that the interference with the neural net is having an effect on Sam-Kent's power. Real Kent comes up with a plan to use the functioning neural net to hack into Aether's computers, find the code that Fake Kent is running off of, and contain it. Eagle plans to pump energy from Arcadia into the city framework to further disrupt her power. Sam-Kent broadcasts to the entire city and to Arcadia offering a deal: She demands being given control of the city, in exchange for restoring the sun that will go nova in under 15 hours. Cpt. Lo'Ami begins negotiating from the Inductor, trying to delay her and to gauge whether she can actually do what she says. Lo'Ami is unconvinced by the level of detail she gives. ChatLog.090304to090305.txt
  16. Quintessa offers Lts Daena and Phoenix the chance to use the neural interface to create a life-like image of anyone they're thinking of. They are led into a room with unusual nontransparent walls. They eventually agree to sample the neural interface technology - but only under monitoring by tricorder. Cpt Lo'Ami, Cmdr Alces, and Lt Black learn that the energy system is controlled by powerful and reclusive Engineers, who are revered by the citizens of Aether. The daily maintainance tasks are performed by temporary conscripted labor ("interns"). Each crew only knows how to maintain a small amount of the process, but only the Engineers understand the whole inner workings of the system. ChatLog.090114to090115.txt
  17. USS Arcadia arrives on Aether for cultural and scientific exchange. The city in space orbits a binary star system, and is known for its advanced methods of redistributing energy. Cpt Lo'Ami, Cmdr Alces, and Lt Kent muse over the technology that simulates gravity, and the solar energy collection. Alces battles nausea caused by the transparent energy-walls and the lack of defined up and down directions. Lt Eagle discovers the advanced neural interfaces in their transportation network that allow him to think of a location and be brought there. He becomes suspicious. Crew still on the bridge scan and analyze the energy collection system, observing anomalies in the stars. The science and engineering crew is called to an exchange meeting at an energy distribution substation. Starfleet calls Lt Servo off mission to a secret operation going on nearby. ChatLog.081217to081218.txt
  18. Lt Sema'J leads the team planetside to the coordinates given to them by the Tunobulan, and inform Arcadia that they are getting close via a secure channel. They (violently) convince a guard to lead them to the people inside. The guard leads them upwards to an elevator that rapidly drops them into a secret serpent processing facility. Having obtained the dilithium, Lt Black's team is led by the Barber toward "another way out" of Western City. Instead, he brings them to a jail cell and tries to remove their breathing apparatus, after he learns that they are Starfleet. They escape to an elevator while being followed by the Barber's men. When the elevator reaches a level where the dampening field subsides, they are able to contact Arcadia and beam back just before the door opens to a set of armed goons. In the nebula, the cat and mouse game continues, as the other ship brings the stunned serpent into its hold. The other ship fires a charged harpoon at the St Epoch just after fuel-filled mine is launched. The harpoon hits the mine, setting off a chain reaction explosion which damages the other ship and sends it into a spin. Cmdr Alces offers to rescue them. ChatLog.081119to081120.txt
  19. Hey

    Welcome back.
  20. Yup. On TNG, the equivalent was stellar cartography, which was far less developed that Voyager's astrometrics. I don't think DS9 had an equivalent.
  21. Arcadia arrives at Nevuluz III, a planet friendly to the Federation. An away team, including the captain, science, engineering, medical, and security beams down to the planet to meet maverick Prof Helen Jones from the Federation Archaeological Society, who claims to have discovered a key site in a theorized ancient "Empire V" that at one time ruled this sector of space. Arcadia is to give her and her team scientific and technological help in verifying her discovery and continuing in the increasingly difficult task of uncovering the ancient technologically advanced city. ChatLog.080618to080619.txt
  22. The chewana root vapors are restored in the ventilation system. Dr Tynte, on his medical authority, delays Captain Lo'Ami's order to launch the shuttle to MKor DSamim. The two men face off and eventually reach an agreement that if Lo'Ami still exhibits signs of being influenced by the drug in 24 hrs, he would be removed from command. The ventilation system is isolated on the deck with sickbay, as a safe place for those who had severe reactions to the drug in the first place. Everyone else is allowed to continue work in the drugged state. The shuttle/probe system is launched, monitored by the engineers and scientists. It is found that MKor DSamim does not have sufficient root resources to pay the Axrekravians. Arcadia refills the remainder its cargo hold with inactive root, with the intent to chemically convert it to the active form. On Axrekrav, Ens Riley continues searching for the source of the gunfire in the woods. He suffers a headache as withdrawal from the cigarettes he used earlier. He eventually finds and follows a newly paved road. A hovercraft drops off less than half the supplies the away team requested. Lt Eagle informs the team about the drug that he learned from his experiences in the mines. They also notice the lack of guards and theorize that something larger is happening on the planet. They hatch a plan to try to find the storage areas and seize some of the drugs (that some of them are now addicted to) and use them as a bargaining chip to win their own release. First, they take their supplies and scavenge the labor camp for anything useful. Eagle takes a small team to the commandant's office. ChatLog.080528to080529.txt

There's also an implicit assumption in what many of you are saying that the rules for Starfleet are the same as the rules for general citizens. Starfleet is a volunteer, (quasi-)military organization. Its officers are expected to follow rules that the general citizenry is not. As an extreme example, a Starfleet officer has to follow orders that will lead to his own death if his superior officer makes a lawful order to that effect. I doubt an average Federation citizen would have to obey the government under those circumstances. So, back to the example of a Deltan -- for the average citizen, Federation sex-ed classes may teach about the dangers of intercourse with a Deltan, but leave it up to the individual humans and Deltans to make their own choices. In Starfleet, military discipline has to be maintained, and that is the responsibility of all officers. So, a Deltan has to take an oath of celibacy to join Starfleet. If they don't want to, they don't have to join Starfleet. Similarly, regarding use of telepaths, Starfleet officers may be required to submit to telepathic examinations at the orders of their superiors. Incidentally, according to Mem Alpha, Valeris was convicted in a court martial (I haven't seen ST6 in a while, so, I don't know if that's canon). If true, that would tell us that the telepathic search and any evidence gathered from it was considered legally obtained. How that extends to average citizens is not known. Otherwise, the government could root out criminal activity by sending telepaths around and conducting mind-searches. Come to think of it, Ferengi are resistant to telepathy. Perhaps that's one thing that's kept them able to sustain their commercial culture in a galaxy full of telepaths.
  24. The Axrekravian hovercraft transporting the prisoners is kept from releasing the crew at the worksite barracks. Instead, they are left at the far end of the worksite, with no guards in site. Their orders are left for them next to a partially complete foundation. Lt. Eagle rejoins the team, having spent some time in the ore mines, which resemble a death sentence. In the mines, the prisoners are kept working by keeping them addicted to a narcotic. Eagle acts very compliant to orders given by the Axrekravians, even though no guards are around. The entire time, a muffled popping sound can be heard in the background. Later, planes fly overhead, booms are heard in the distance and the popping ends. The crew theorizes that they just heard gunshots. On Arcadia, much of the staff is in sickbay, where the doctors try to figure out how to undo the damage to those who had severe reactions. With the high gone, others begin to experience the first withdrawal symptoms. Some, the captain included, begin to miss the high and try to find ways to procure more root. Ens Phoenix works on a method to sample-test the remaining root. Lt Marx argues that the root should not be given to the Axrekravians. ChatLog.080514to080515.txt
  25. After reviewing the evidence at the insistence of the public advocate, the judges find the crew not guilty of kidnapping Ken. Without being able to obtain any further evidence in their defense, the advocate advises he crew to change their plea to guilty on the remaining charges. They are sentenced to work time building cities, and additionally, to time in the ore mines. Al Wyer's objections to the mining sentence are rejected. One of the judges appears to present an exculpatory excuse, but it is not heeded by the two others. After the trial, Ens Riley offers cigarettes to Wyer. He rejects them, saying that he should put them away before the court officers see them -- they are illegal. The crew is led to hovercraft for return to the worksite. On Arcadia, the testing of the root continues. As Captain Lo'Ami tries to explain to Lt Daena the difference in smell between one root and another, Daena sniffs the root and becomes incoherent. Other root vapors leave the hydroponics bay through the ventilation system. Soon, everyone on the ship is affected by the root. Some feel a high, others have varying severe reactions. Sickbay fills rapidly. ChatLog.080507to080508.txt
