  1. PERSONAL LOG Ensign Koshic L. N’dak, Ph.D. ASCI USS Arcadia Stardate 0311.29 >Begin Log< The bulk of the crew was either on the Andorian warship or on their way to see the Vulcans. Neither really appealed to N’Dak: he had his fare share of Vulcans while excavating Iconian ruins and he sure as hell didn’t need them to tell him how to ‘control’ his violent impulses. And the Andorians weren’t much better. They were smug and arrogant and their minds left something to be desired for the telepath. He had hid managed to elude going on either field trip and was in his quarters meditating trying to get back control over his emotions. “The Vulcans,” he thought to himself. “Think they are the only ones who know how to control themselves. But we just go about it differently.” He sat on an elaborate rug in front of a statue of the Elasian god Requa, the God of war and ironically the God of Peace. The Elasian belief was that War and Peace never co-exist so therefore they were controlled by the same God. N’Dak sat in a Locust like position in the candle light and chanted. He concentrated his mental energy to one point—the statue. In his mind he could see only it and the candles. As his concentration continued, the candles dimmed and faded away. The room was dark now, but the statue glowed brightly. He was performing the Requam, an old Elasian meditation practice performed by the warriors. The ritual, it was believed helped Requa to defeat his evil half and allow his peaceful side to win. After several hours of this deep meditation, N’Dak opened his eyes and the candles lit back up. “Computer lights, 75%.” The lights came up slowly. Much rested, N’Dak stood up and stretched. For the first time in several days felt in control again. He closed his eyes and opened them again. He felt sure enough that he could loosen his mental defense now. He felt alone though. The voices he had come a costume to listening to in his head weren’t there now, they were else where and the emptiness left him uneasy. He ran his hands through his hair and turned to his piano in the corner. It was a replica of an old earth brand called ‘Steinway.’ Playing the piano had helped him through the death of his father and now he felt he could use it to get through this minor loneliness problem he had. He sat down at the bench of the Piano and ran his fingers over the soft white ivory keys. The black keys had beautiful diamond inserts and the wood was carved to perfection. There were a few sheets of music on the Piano and N’Dak looked them over. “The Schubert Collection,” He said opening the music. “Hmm I need a viola player and some one on the drums for this. Computer can you accompany me on drums and Viola for This piece of music?” The computer beeped and he smiled. “Begin Accompaniment now.” As he said that he began to play softly at first, his fingers moving over the keys, the beautiful harmonious sound emanating from the Piano. The longer he played the more relaxed he became and the more fluidly he played. It had been a while since he played the Piano; come to think of it he hadn’t played since he had been on the ship. He used to play almost every night at a small little club in Paris where a lot of the ‘intellectuals’ hung out when he was teaching. He was back in his old form and the notes were coming effortlessly and flawlessly. The Sound resonated through out the ship as N’Dak played through the second movement of the Ensemble, which was a more sedate piece that the computer didn’t have to accompany him on. The third and final piece in the collection was the Unfinished Symphony, a difficult dynamic piece with many runs. As he finished the piece he smiled to himself. “Who needs the Vulcans, I have my Steinway.” He finished the piece and looked trough the rest of his music. “Hmm, Moonlight Sonata, appropriate.” Running his finger over the keys he became entranced with the beautiful, yet simplistic song. It echoed down the corridors and over the ship. Consumed wholly by the music, he continued playing, not missing a beat or note. He thought nothing about the events of Arcady which had been troubling him so, he thought nothing if the weird specter that had been haunting his dreams. He thought only of the music. After a few hours and a few more pieces of classical Earth music his hands tired. He had conquered his dark side. All was calm with in and for the first time in months he truly felt peaceful inside. He stood from the Piano and walked to his bed and slipped underneath the cover and fell asleep. >End Log<

  7. PERSONAL LOG Ensign Koshic L. N’dak, Ph.D. ASCI USS Arcadia Stardate 0311.18 >And now the conclusion< After the sonic shower, N’Dak laid down to sleep. He thought sleep would come easily for him, but it didn’t. He tossed and turned for what seemed like an hour. Then he just laid there and stared out the window. All of this warrior talk, this fighting on the planet, the almost hostile attitudes and worry of the crew were starting to have an effect on his psyche. Telepathically the general feeling of the crew was hostile, hostile and hurt. He had tried to fight off the aura of the crew and even the male Arcadys they had been dealing with on the planet, and had been able to do it fairly well up till now. But now his body and indeed his mind were tired and he could no longer keep those mental walls up. He laid there unable to sleep. The thought and feelings, fears and hopes of an entire crew surged through him like tsunami. He felt aggression. His own Elasian warrior blood pumped and raged. The crew was indeed making him aggressive. He stood up and looked over at the small arsenal of Elasian warrior weapons he had brought with him. He picked a set of Kamas, which were little more than a sharp hooking blade attached to a wooden rod, and a set of Elasian swords. He dressed and headed to the holodeck. “I have to relieve all of this stress and aggression, or I am going to die,” he said to himself as he headed to the holodeck wearing an Elasian warrior Kimono. He had not dressed in such apparel in a long time and he had almost forgotten how barbaric and aggressive his own race had once been. He approached the doors to the holodeck. “Begin Program N’Dak Training Simulation, Level 10,” he barked to the computer. The aggressive surges were now raging full blow and he was in what the Elasian warriors once called blood lust. He entered the holodeck and the room shimmered and a large ornate room appeared. It was a fighting hall. And fight he intended to do. A there was an audience cheering in the background as a tall Elasian dressed in all white appeared explained the rules of the fight—N’Dak was in a mul’jatha where any one from the crow could stand before him and fight. The crowd roared as N’Dak wielded the Kamas and assumed the attack position with one held above his head and the other chest high. From the roaring crowd stepped a muscular human in full Ninja gear. He came at N’Dak, but before he could strike one blow at N’Dak, he had taken a vicious three hit Kama attack to the stomach, neck and back in that order and he lay bleeding on the floor of arena. Just then another assailant stepped forward at N’Dak. Again N’Dak repelled the assailant with a quick slice of the Kamas. This pattern continued for several minutes until N’Dak had easily slain 7 different aliens. “Increase difficulty to level 15!” N’Dak shouted above the roaring crowd. The computer beeped and 5 Klingons stepped forward from the now belligerent crowd. They charged at N’Dak and his blood raged. He through the Kamas at the two of the Klingons striking them in the chest, he unsheathed the two swords he had on his back in an X position. Two of the Klingons swung their bat’Leths at him but caught them mid swing with the swords. He pushed them back with counter force. The impaled the two Klingons leaving him with one more to deal with. The Klingon charged at N’Dak bat’leth raised. Just as he was about to swing at N’Dak’s head, a revelation came to N’Dak. “Computer, End program,” he shouted as the room and the Klingons vanished. He went over and retrieved his weapons and headed straight for his science lab. He was able to think clearly now, with out the rest of the crew in his head. He had, through the fighting managed to regain his mental strength and he had an idea. He entered the lab and went straight to his consol he had been working at. He took out a hypospray and took a sample of his blood. He placed in the scanner and began to analyze it. Just as he had suspected, his testosterone levels were almost 45% above normal, but were beginning to level off. He continued to analyze his blood sample He was hoping to find trace of the Alandium, but if there was any there it wasn’t showing up. He sighed as he had hit another dead end. But why then had he suddenly become so violent? The mood of a crew had never affected him like this before and he wasn’t sure why it was now, had it been because he had been so mentally beaten up? Or was it something else; was there indeed something mystical about Queen Alanda and the Arcadys? He sighed and decided that he had better try and get to sleep while he was still able to block out the crew. He walked down the corridor to his room. It was quite, not just from a physical stand point, but from a psionic stand point. Normally he let there be some noise, just to keep him company, but he couldn’t risk it now. He couldn’t risk another violent tidal wave of aggression. Quietly he reentered his quarters quickly took the kimono off and slipped under the covers. He was exhausted from the fighting and he quickly fell asleep. >End Log<
  8. PERSONAL LOG Ensign Koshic L. N’dak, Ph.D. ASCI USS Arcadia Stardate 0311.14 >Begin Log< N’Dak sat in Science lab 3. He had been there more or less since transport from the planet. The Arcadys had definitely perked his interest. The radiation from the probe had some how changed an already unique genome. He sipped a drink of coffee he had synthesized and continued working. His plan was to evaluate and map the Arcady genome to pin point the gene that was responsible for pheromone production in females. This was a revelation he had made about an hour ago because, judging from the actions of the Arcadia crew member sin the palace the reaction to the pheromones was not limited to the Arcadyians themselves. “The rouge men have been separated from these female pheromones for sometime, but still contact with them should affect them,” N’Dak said rubbing his temples. “But for some reason they aren’t perhaps the radiation has affected their sympathic nervous systems to a point that it no longer recognizes the stimuli?” He ran his hands through his hair; he was tired and it showed on his face but he kept on working. He hadn’t done this much genetic work since the Academy but his skills were still pretty sharp. He tapped on the consol panel and to his right three holoprojections appeared; one of the Arcady male DNA, another of the Females, and finally on of the human’s. The differences between the basic structures of the two Arcadyians and the Human DNA were quite visible to his well trained eyes. The holopojections shimmered away as he tapped again on the consol. He leaned back in his chair and picked up PADD. The computer had finished the chemical analysis of Mr. Seiben’s blood; N’Dak had obtained the sample from one of the nurses in sick bay while Seieben was being treated. The analysis of the sample had revealed that the testosterone levels in Seiben had risen some 45% above normal; which explained the ultra aggressive behavior. “That is all those human men need more testosterone,” N’Dak said smirking to himself. He continued to look through the chemical analysis until he strolled upon an ‘unknown compound of organic origin.’ His face lit up with delight; at last he had isolated the pheromone. He thought he should check to make sure so he tapped his commbadge. “Sickbay, is there a doctor on duty?” “Yes there is, is there an emergency?” replied a voice. “No, but I am going to need your help, Ill be right down,” N’Dak said as he was half way out the door already. He entered the nearest TL and it sat off for his destination. Once he arrived at sickbay he explained to the Doctor on duty the situation and asked him to scan the blood samples of the other male crew members for the same compound, which he was now calling ‘Alandium.’ Sure enough they all came up positive for the ‘Alandium.’ After thanking the doctor he returned to the Science lab where he further analyzed the Alandium. Apparently the females of the species had a gland or system of glands that produced and subsequently released the powerful pheromone into the air at will, which caused in the males the over production of testosterone. “Interesting, indeed,” he said lifting his eye brows. “My question is why aren’t our friends susceptible?” He continued working analyzing and reanalyzing the rouge men’s DNA and blood samples and comparing them to those who had recently been exposed to the Alandium but he wasn’t any closer to an answer. Exhausted he looked at the clock it was 0205, he had bags under his eyes and he hadn’t got a chance to shower since beaming down to the planet to help with the initial recovery effort. “Well I suppose even I have to rest sometime,” N’Dak said sighing as he saved his findings and turned the lights out in the Science lab. Exasperated and completely worn out he finally made it to his quarters. He undressed and walked into the sonic shower and let the dirt and grime of Arcady wash away as he relaxed for the first time since the mission started. He couldn’t help but think if only they could simply just flip a switch and the whole mess on the planet below would just disappear like the dirt from his skin. >To Be Continued...<

  16. MISSION/INCINDENT REPORT Ne’Arrien Destorie N’Dak CSEC RES Talon Stardate 0311.06 TO: Khre'Riov L'haiy t'Rexan ENARRAIN RES Talon SUBJECT: SECURITY FAILURE ON PLANET >Begin Report< Mission Summary: For several days the crew had been involved in clearing out the infestation of Klingons upon the planet we last visited. After they had appeared to do so, the crew proceeded to ‘free’ the slave population from captivity. Upon doing so, they learned that the slaves were in need of supplies, which per orders from yourself, were delivered to them by Daise Erei Riov Mijne t'Shaeni. During her supply mission she was ambushed and subsequently injured. When it was learned of the ambush, then Ne'Arrain Shibae t'Aehjae beamed to the surface and proceeded to route and vanquish the remaining Klingons. Incident Review: This was an avoidable and most unfortunate incident. Upon further review, it appears that a lack of judgment on the entire Dheno staff caused the ambush. The Daise Dheno ordered a through search of the area in addition to spatial sensor scans from the Talon of the entire area. All of which came up negative for evidence of further Klingon presence. Or at least that is what she was told. Upon more extensive review, it has been found that the officers instructed to do a physical search of the area, did not, in fact, ever return to the surface to scan the areas, one of which was the very site of the ambush. They instead chose to be lazy Fhvae’s and stuck with the sensor scans which turned up negative. These officers have since been internally dealt with as both officers have been placed in the brig for one week and once they finish that time will be placed on restricted duty. (i.e. cleaning Main Security and Scrubbing the Brig.) Recommendations: The 6 security officers in question have been dealt with as per Galae regulations. If au see fit to punish them further, then be my guest. Additionally, I am requesting official reprimands be placed in their files at Galae Command. Also, once the Daise Erei Riov has recovered if she would like to personally over see their further ‘probationary period’ that is also satisfactory and recommended. Further it is my recommendation that copies of this report be placed in not only their files but the files of all members of the Dheno Corps, including my own. As their superior officers, it was our job to make sure they did their job and if they look bad then should we, and because of this lack of initiative on our parts they were allowed to be lazy and as a result the Daise Erei Riov was seriously injured. Such a failure represents a serious problem for the entire Dheno Corps. and I assure you it is being dealt with quickly and efficiently and will not occur again. >End Report< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MISSION/INCINDENT REPORT Ne’Arrien Destorie N’Dak CSEC RES Talon Stardate 0311.06 TO: Khre'Riov L'haiy t'Rexan ENARRAIN RES Talon SUBJECT: SECURITY FAILURE ON SHIP >Begin Report< Mission Summary: After several days of dealing with Klingons on the planet, the ship returned to space travel scanning the area for further infestation. However, during this patrol we were attacked by some unknown space traveling life form. Several crew members were injured, the Daise Erei Riov was perhaps further injured, and shipwide system failures. Incident Review: Unfortunately the cloud in question escaped before it could be either destroyed or otherwise subdued. The Cloud manged to damage several key systems, but was prevented from damaging the critical AQS unit by quick action by the Engineering staff. With their help, myself and the former Daise were able to corner and subsequently halt the cloud’s vampiration of the ethrre core. However just as we were about to subdue the creature, it froze s before we were able to subdue it. Eventually the delusional Daise Erei Riov was able to subdue the creature before it could damage the ship further. The creature vanished before Security could aprhend it. Recommendations: After review of the incident I have determined that Security was not prepared for an intruder of this type. I have now put into action a plan to handle any further security threat of this nature. Upon sounding of a Type4 intruder alert, force fields will go up around all critical systems and all on and off duty security officers will be placed at strategic locations through out this ship, in addition to a group of trained interceptor security guards. This incident could have been contained by better planning, however, hind sigh is 20/20—it is my recommendation that no disciplinary action be brought upon any Dheno officers. However, I do recommend commendations for the Engineering crew for their quick actions which helped prevent further damage to the ship. >End Report
  17. PERSONAL LOG Ne’Arrien Destorie N’Dak CSEC RES Talon Stardate 0311.06 >Begin Log< N’Dak sat alone in Main Security at his new desk. The others had left him alone after he had sent t’Aehjae on patrol. He was still working the reports t’Rexen had ordered him to prepare. “I will show her. I will not fail her.” He felt cheap. Cheap and used. He was being made an example out of, and intern being used to make an example out of t'Aehjae and he didn’t like it one bit. “She was right, I did treat her badly. I was rude, selfish, and worst disrespectful. Not only could she have put me in the brig, but worse she would have been right in doing so,” N’Dak said disgusted in himself. “I will not behave this way again,” he vowed to himself as he typed away. “The Ennarien wants a report, she will have it. I will show her, and the rest of this crew that I am capable of being a model officer.” N’Dak returned to the computer screen in front of him and ISD in his hand. He continued reading over the Daise’ logs gathering as much information about the two events as possible. The events concerning the ‘mysterious avatar’ were not t'Aehjae’s fault. After all they had been at the point of subduing the blasted thing when they were both frozen in place, what where they to do? But as for the Klingons on the planet, well that was another matter. As he thought about not only those matters, he thought about all of the responsibilities now placed on him. “She is setting me up to fail. But together we will prove her wrong,” he paused. “She is doing this to make us better, she isn’t that devious, at least I hope not anyway, she has succeeded in that already, I have saw the errors in my ways.” He stopped and placed the ISD down on the desk. “I was arrogant, pig headed and a general fhvae,” he said angry with himself, “I have disgraced myself and my family, It will not happen again.” With that he sat to work with the reports with new fervor. He had been made Daise Dheno, and he intended to stay Daise Dheno. >End Log<
  18. OCC: A Joint Log between the New Daise Dheno and the recently deposed Daise Dheno >Begin Log< The new Daise Dheno N’Dak had arrived at Main Security to find the former Daise packing her things into a box. In his heart, he felt sorry for her. She was a good officer, a loyal Romulan and she had one hell of a right cross. But hew knew he could not show any signs of weakness or his reign as Daise Dheno would be very short lived. “Au chair isn’t very comfortable for me,” N’Dak said as he packed his thing form his old desk and put them into a crate. “Au can have it if au wishes.” “AU Keep it,” t'Aehjae said angrily, “It is the Daise chair, Au deal with it.” She was still trying to come to grips with what had transpired. She had, after all, just been replaced by a sniveling, rude, arrogant, silver-spooned subordinate that had not only caused her very downfall but had the nerve to sit in the command chair after being ordered not too. And now she had to deal with him face to face. “Very well have it au way,” N’Dak said as he moved his box of things towards his desk. “I was just trying to be nice to au.” At that point she lost it. Any chance for her being civil to him had faded away when she learned that he was to replace her. “AU be Nice?!? SINCE WHEN?!?!?” He stopped looking at her a moment and headed back to his desk, but she stepped in his path. “Au Have caused me more problems than ALL the Klingons put together…” But before she could get out another word he chimed in. “Au haven’t made thing easy for me either,” he said as he gently pushed her out of the way and walked to his new desk. “I was very lenient with au,” t’Aehjae said grabbing the location on her uniform where the Daise symbol had been. “I could have had Au in the bring or even killed you for things AU have done, but no I had to play nice and gentle and try to teach AU with kindness!” “Listen I know au don’t like this, me being in charge,” he said rising to his feet. “BUT that is was the Enarrain decided was best, therefore we are going to make this work…am I clear?” She starred at him, if looks could kill, he would be in the infirmary with t’Ksa shoving cotton balls in his mouth. “Yes you could have put me in the brig,” he said confessionaly, “and you would have been right to do so, but you didn’t and now you too learned a lesson. You should have put me in the brig, I deserved it.” She glared and crossed her arms. “And what If I say Na, refuse to make this ‘work’, what will au do to me then?” she said testing his authority. “If au try anything like what I did,” he said crossing his arms, “Au will find auself in a nice little cell.” “AU Wouldn’t,” she said taken aback a bit, “AU Couldn’t!” “I Can and I will,” he said countering her as he sat down and gave her one of those classic ‘up-yours’ smiles and then continued, “Go right ahead and try me.” She grinned evilly at him. “Au will never know its coming,” she said turning and walking away. “I will do as I wish.” “Au will do as ordered, Understood?” he said irritated. She walked away not answering him. “If Au leave now I will have au locked in the brig for dereliction of duty,” he called after her. “Who said anything about leaving?” she said as she made her way to back of the room and sat down crossing her arms and legs. “Very well then have it au way,” he said,” Go ahead and pout like a little lost fhvae!” “I am just showing au the same respect au showed me!” she said. The words bit at him like a dagger to the heart. N’Dak rose from his seated position and walked towards the desk he had assigned her. “Perhaps I have treated au badly,” he said in an almost amicable voice. At that she uncrossed her legs and prepared for him to try something foolish. “Au are the cause of my demotion, I would say au have!” He acknowledged that with a nod. “Yes I am, but I have paid a price for my actions as well,” he said. “Now I am looked upon as little more than a rebellious fhvae by then Enarrain. “ “I do na believe that,” she said watching him closely. “If I fail,” he said closing in on her, “Not only will I have further disgraced myself, but my family as well.” “Do au not realize I have disgraced my family as well!” she said standing. “Not officially, she hasn’t filled anything with Galae Command,” he offered but it did little good at pacifying her. “I was stripped of the rank of Daise!,” she said getting in his face. “Au should be proud! Au got what AU wanted!” Her words tore at him. “OH yes!,” he said getting toe-to-toe with her. “I wanted to be ridicule of the Enarrain. I wanted to be the ship joke!” She angrily pushed him out of the way and headed to the door. “Leave now and au will be in the brig, I promise it. I am trying to reason with au here.” At that she stopped turned and glared at him—she was madder than hell and he was going to hear about it. “Well then AU should have thought about reasoning BEFORE!!!” she said as she turned away from him again and started to the door. “Yes I should have, but I didn’t,” he said. “I have changed now.” “AU will never change!” she retorted. “Have I not?” he rebuffed. “Before now I would have shot you where you stand, after all that would make it a lot easier on me, no one to replace me, no one fight with.” She continued to the door and placed her hand on the door panel to open it. N’Dak sighed it seemed that she was testing him and he had had all he could take. “Very well then you leave me no choice,” he said reaching for his disruptor. He aimed the disruptor and fired at her feet missing her foot intentionally by less than a CM. She was startled and jumped in the air and then turned back around to face him. “That was a warning shot, I will na miss again.” “So this is how au wants to play is it?” she said with an evil grin. “Let us get this clear,” he said brandishing the disruptor. “If I wanted au job, I would have killed au long ago.” “Well then,” she said. “Au have the job now, let see how long au can keep it.” “Yes we will, no come here,” he motioned with the disruptor. She sighed and started towards him. “Au have something very important of mine, if au will remember,” N’dak said as she approached “and because au have it I obviously have some deal of respect for au.” “I have something of au’s?” she asked puzzled. “If au will remember, au has a certain dagger of mine.” He said. “OH, ie I do,” she said remembering the knife he had given her, “Do au wish it back?” “Na, it was a gift from the Praetor himself, I suggest au keep it sharp,” he said to her. He returned behind his desk and sat down. “Now onto business. The Enarrain has ordered a report on the ‘bunglings’ of security.” “Au are Daise now, reports are au duty,” she said. “That is one part of au job I won’t miss.” “Ie, I am aware,” he said. “But as Daise at the time, au will be expected to contribute information concerning the missions.” “Very well,” she grumbled. “If au wish my information ... au can find it under my personal Daise logs.” “Thank Au,” he said. “Now for au new orders.” She crossed her arms, the very thought of taking orders from him just brought the rage back to her, but se kept her self composed. “I am placing au in charge of the brig and the guarding there off,” he continued. “Maybe that way, au will feel right at home if au has to be placed there.” She rolled her eyes. “That is a piety task.” “Perhaps then au want to be in charge of cleaning them instead?” he said with that smug grin of his. She glared at him and he continued. “Au will also be in charge of making sure that the armory is kept in good order.” “Learn this quickly: I am not to be trifled with, if au are loyal to me, au will be taken care of—if not the air locks look mighty good.” “And au just remember how au treated me,” she snapped. “I do and I regret it, if that makes you feel any better,” he offered. “Now as to au quarters, you may have anyone’s quarters that au like.” “I wish to keep mine!” she said. “Those are Daise’s quarters,” he said reminding her of the chair. “That and the bed is more comfortable.” “So, Au said any,” she reminded him. “Except those.” “Are au going to break aus word already?” she question. “I figured as much.” N’Dak decided that he had better take what little bit of civility the two had left for each other and run with and not push the issue any further. “Very well then, au are right, I id say any didn’t I?” “Ie au did,” she said standing back on her heals. This caused him to grimace at the thought of being out smarted at his own game and intern caused her to grin to herself. “So we are clear on au new duties?” he asked. “Do I keep my quarters?” she countered. “Ie, provided you agree to get along,” he said. “I will agree to orders if au agree to be fair with me,” she said. “Well then, au get au quarters, but” he paused, “there is a proviso..” “I Knew it,” she rolled her eyes. “Au have to agree to meet with me once a week in my quarters for dinner,” he said, “We both know I am not yet ready to be Daise and I will need your help in transitioning.” Her mouth flew open and then she grinned. “What!!” “Do we have a deal?” he said extending his hand. She grinned wider. “Look we both look bad in this,” he as she took his hand. “Why don’t we turn the table on t’Rexen.” “Turn the tables? Now you speak of treason, and I will have no part of that.” “No no,” he said emphatically. “My father would yy’a me for treason. No what I speak of his proving her wrong, proving to her that we are indeed both good officers.” She paused thinking about it for a moment. She took his hand again. “Very well we will both try and make this work. Deal” He shook her hand back. “Deal” >End Log<

  22. PERSONAL LOG Ensign Apollo Link ASCI USS Republic Stardate 0310.20 >Begin Log< Link tapped away on a PADD. He had finished his duties on the bridge and now sat to work on the schedule of sensor usage Lt. Carter had asked him to prepare. “Danged Astrometrics, they just don’t get it do they, looks like I am going to have to go explain it to them,” he sighed and stood up and headed out of Science lab 3, which he had made into his unofficial office, and headed towards Astrometrics. Astrometrics wanted twice as much sensor time as everyone else, and there just wasn’t time for them to monopolize the sensors. Link approached the door to Astrometrics with a bit of hesitation; he entered to find Lt. Goulry, the current Astrometrics Chief, and a rather unsavory Talarian at that. “I need to speak with you about your sensor requests,” Link said firmly. “Oh your giving us more time?” Goulry said with a smirk. “Actually, no. I am taking time away from you, Mr. Goulry” Link said deadpan. The Talarian rose from his seated position. He was visibly not very excited with the news and he walked around Link as if to intimidate the short Arzaban. “Your doing what with my sensor time?” But before Link could say a word he continued. “My sensor time, Ensign, will be left exactly the way it is. The other departments will have to compromise amongst each other, but we here in Astrometrics get what we want. Am I Understood? Ensign.” Link stood toe to toe with the tall Talarian, he was shy, but not someone to be bullied. “I wasn’t aware Talarians had hearing problems. Because I thought I made it fairly clear that your time was going to be reduced as to give the others an equal amount of time with each sensor array, including the lateral and main dish. Mr. Goulry” Goulry by this time was fuming. He had his hands in the air and was mumbling to himself in Talarian. Link decided to take advantage and try to at least rectify some compromise. “Its not like I am cutting your time by that much,” Link offered. “You were requesting what came down to 60% of the total time. That is just not fair to the other units. You are going to get the same percent as the other departments.” “How about this, I order you to give me the 60%,” Goulry said emphatically. “I have higher orders. If you have a problem with sharing I suggest taking it up with Chief Carter,” Link said with a slight grin. “I tried to be reasonable with you, but if you continue to be so brash I might just make a typo and not clear you for any sensor time at all.” Goulry himself was not a man to be trifled with but saw he might have met his match. “You wouldn’t!” “Try me, go right ahead and try me,” Link said confidently crossing his arms. “Very well then perhaps you are correct we do not deserve more time than the others, we will take the same amount as everyone else,” Goulry said irritatedly. “Glad you saw it my way,” Link said. “And maybe next time I might just slip with a typo and give you a little more time than anyone else.” Goulry almost grinned but grunted instead. Link, pleased in himself said his good byes and returned to Science Lab 3 where he continued his work. Goulry continued working. “These new ensigns think they are so smart, bah!” He said turning to a colleague who returned similar thoughts. >End Log<
