  1. KhreRiovtRex -> Ok, so when we left off last week, we were getting the snot pounded out of us by the 3 ships that had been attacking us as we were running towards the nebula/asteroid field, whichever we could reach first in the course of our evasive manuevers Seiben was able to take out one of the ship that had been hitting us hard, and had damaged a second one to the point that it had to pull back a bit. Engineering is dealing with the mangled metal, while Morgana is dealing with the mangled crewmembers. 053107.txt

  7. Destorie looked over from his prone position on the couch. Issaha had not returned during the night—shock. He'd gotten rather used to such arrangements in the time they'd lived together and anymore he passed it off as normal behavior. Issaha filled the hole in his soul with drunken debauchery, Destorie with pride and ambition. For a moment though, he almost felt like his brother as he did not completely recall how he himself ended up on the couch in his quarters. Rubbing away the remnants of sleep from his eyes, he sat up remembering he'd spent most of the night prepping and drilling the crew for a possible Tal'Shiar attack and had wandered back to his room exhausted. Somehow, he doubted his brother had worked his way into exhaustion...depending on your definition of work. At any rate, he didn't have time to lay on the couch, he had two more drills planned this morning and he still had to attempt contact with his father. Oh it was going to be a fun morning.

  9. The past is now another land Far beyond my reach Invaded by insidious Foreign bodies, foreign speech Where timeless joys of childhood Lie broken on the beach Sitting in the center seat of the Talon's Oira, Destorie N'Dak took a long deep breath. The summation of his time on the Talon had come to this moment. After years of plotting, planning, backstabbing and the occasional coup attempt, his goal of being in a permanent command position had finally been realized, somehow it seemed cheapened by his past. A past that some on the Talon knew intimately, and some only knew in passing—rumors and legends of the figure that now occupied the command chair of the great, green warbird Talon. Where to even start though—could his current situation be tied to any single event? Or was it more likely a culmination of everything that had happened to him over the course of his tenure on the Talon? It occurred to him that his very first memory of the Talon happened a few feet behind him at the tactical station. Funny how one single event can mark you for the rest of time. The Khre'Riov had been captured by a group of Klingons and they were taking her back to Qo'Nos. Someone had to find her. The crew of Talon searched relentlessly for her, to no avail. Destorie's past as a military liaison between the Klingon Empire and the Galae allowed him to interpret some of the coded messages being sent between various Klingon official, leading to the rescue of the Khre'Riov. Normally that would be a instant boost to anyone's career, but the alarming accuracy with which Destorie had spoken the Klingon tongue on the Oira, combined with the less than surgical rescue operation had left a cloud of suspicion over his first mission. Granted t'Rexan didn't exactly trust him anyway—after all he was the son of a Senator who'd pulled some strings to get his son attached to the Talon in the first place, and despite a level of respect for his father, she'd instantly placed his son on the ambitious whelp list. For the first part of his tour of duty on the Talon, he'd spent his time embattled in a power struggle for D'Heno with t'Aehjae that had gained him few friends, several enemies and a reputation for bold, unchecked ambition that often got him into trouble with t'Rexan. A deep, sorrowful sigh escaped his chest as he glanced once more to the star field in front of him. In away it'd been that bold, unchecked ambition of his youth that had placed him in his current situation. Chills ran up his spine as memories of the “Squid Incident” surfaced. His own hungers for power had kept him blind to their manipulation and caused him to betray his honor, his ship, his commanding officer and nearly his empire. There had been a terrible price to pay for that betrayal; though she could have easily sentenced him, his brother and a handful of others to death—t'Rexan chose to let them live, though they'd be marked for their sins for life. Sons of the House of N'Dak had been accused of many things over the years—but traitors were not among them. His father, a proud man who was fiercely loyal to his house and his children was outraged by the idea that his sons would be punished like commoners. After all, Destorie had only acted in what he thought at the time was the best interest of the Empire. Despite his own son's protestations, D'Lvon, head of the House of N'Dak stormed onto the Talon unannounced and demanded that his children's sentences be commuted. t'Rexan, an equally proud and stubborn woman had reacted predictably—with prejudice. When the smoke cleared, D'Lvon had been sentenced to a lashing of his own, but his power in the Senate allowed him to get the sentenced lessened to a censure before the Tri-Cameron. The results had carried serious consequences for the House; Ambassador N'Kedre, Destorie's mother had been forced into retirement by her enemies, who could no longer be kept at bay by her husband, who himself lost stature in the Senate. And for Destorie, not only was he now a traitorous whipping boy, but ambitious bastard now clearly ran in the family. D'Heno had suffered equally in this time of chaos with four different claimants to the post of Daise: Destorie (traitorous whipping boy) , t'Aehjae (always in trouble), tr'Vosh (sniveling wimp) and the notorious t'Vixen (Susse-thrai mh Areinnye). The latter had been particularly idiotic achieving a status few thought possible—she was more reviled than even Destorie or t'Rexan combined. Of course she was dead now, t'Rexan had seen to that after the little fight with Laehval in Engineering. The mental wheels slowed for a moment, that had been a bloody day, and the scars on Destorie's back would forever remind him of the searing pain of his treason. Since then, it had been one disaster after another with the crew of the Talon. There was Survivor: Romulan—which Destorie's lasting memory of which would be the image of tr'Psichore getting ready to shoot him when a blob attacked...ironic that the man who would later join forces with those trying to kill him would save him; there was the incident with the trashship Reaent which had earned it's commander, Captain Fred Michaels, a place on Destorie's elite list of 'Most Hated;' the incident with those moronic freedom fighters and the attempt on Senator S'bein's life (on a side note, he had to admit that t'Aehjae looked like a complete fool during all of this, much to his pleasure); then of course there was the incident with the aliens stripping everyone of their memories and that whole making t'Rexan the waste management expert. And now they were standing on the edge of oblivion with the knowledge that their entire world could be turned upside by the Tal'Shiar, there were prices on both his and t'Rexan's head, and his family was involved deeply...and somehow he was supposed to be happy about his promotion...right. Not. Happening.

Name: Destorie Ma’Lyn Sheuji N’Dak < Nah-dahk> Age: 33 Sex: Male POB: Vulcan Ht: 5'8" Wt: 175 lbs Rank: Daise'Erei'Riov, Executive Officer, RES Talon Registry #: 456-Y-A23K Father: Deihu D’Lvon N’Dak , Senator, chairman Galae Command Committee Mother: hru'Llairhi t'Sevik N’Kedre, Chief Rihannsu Ambassador to Starbase Camelot Siblings: Rasa N’Dak (female), el'Lleifven (Senior Attaché) to the Fvillha (Praetor) Savu Ye’sho N’Dak (female), Tal’Shiar Operative Issaha N’Dak (male), Ne'Arrain, ASCI, RES Talon Scars: on left arm from Klingon bat’Leth; on right thigh from bat'Leth; on right shoulder from Klingon dagger; on left shoulder from Klingon dagger; on back heavy scars from multiple lashings (see below); on left shoulder two bite wounds from snake on right ear slight cut from projectile weapon on chest mild scaring from Blob-Attack on left cheek running under the eye, from t'Rexan's hook on right shin from compound fracture one running length of the right arm from cross fire of an A.F.R.O. freeze-unit Past History: Born to a wealthy and elite family, Destorie, his two younger sisters, and younger brother lived the life of luxury in the Imperial Deihu (Senate) Compound on ch’Rihan. Destorie was born on Vulcan while his mother was assigned to Vulcan. Upon reaching the age of ascension, Destorie was torn between the wishes of his parents. His mother, t’Sevik, wanted him to enroll in the Vulcan Science Academy and become a great scientist; his father however wanted him to enter into government service arranging for him to have a position in the Tal’Shiar. Destorie, decided, as usual to follow his own path and chose the Galae Retor. While his parents disagreed with his choice they supported him. Once Destorie arrived at the Retor, he found life much tougher, the expectations for the eldest N’Dak were impossibly high, and pressure to succeed often troubled him, but did not stop him from graduating tenth in his class. Destorie spent an extended amount of time on Qo'Nos, the Klingon homeworld, during the Dominion War, while his mother was serving as the Ambassador, where he operated as a military liaison between the Romulan and Klingon government. His employment with the Embassy ended when several Tal’Shiar operatives were discovered in the Klingon Embassy; Destorie and a number of other Rihan citizens were ejected from the embassy. He was suspected of being a covert Tal’Shiar operative, but was cleared of all charges. When it came time for his post aboard a warbird, D’Lvon used his considerable pull to have him posted to the RES Talon; his mother had heard that the ship was only patrolling the border and thought that would be safe so she begged her husband to have him posted to it. Family History & Background: House of N’Dak, Clan of Silaeir While now it seems that he and his family are among ch’Rihan’s more elite houses, this was not always true. Certainly of honorable lineage, the House of N’Dak had mostly been centered and known only to those of the region of Hein’Rhe. It was only some 300 years ago that rise of the House of N’Dak to Imperial prominence began. It was then that Rheank N’Dak, the local constable of Hein'Rhe, spent much of his savings to send his eldest son to the Galae Retor in the capital city. After gaining admittance to the Retor, Rheank’s son, Destorie exceeded all expectations for him and graduated third in his class with a specialization in military history and tactics. Destorie rose to the rank of Daise’EnRiov while serving as decorated commander in the Imperial Galae. A much feared and respected man, he served as one of the lead Galae Commanders from 2136 to 2155. During this period, the House of N’Dak rose to unparalleled power in the Empire, controlling virtually all three major bodies of the Empire with Destorie heading the Galae, his sister running the Tal’Shiar with an iron fist, and his younger brother becoming a powerful senator whose voice carried much weight in that body. Following the disastrous Rihan-Earth War, which Destorie had almost single handedly escalated, he returned to ch’Rihan in disgrace, committing suicide only hours before the peace treaty that brought an end to the end of the war and established the Neutral Zone was finalized. The Rihan-Earth War significantly reduced the power of the House of N’Dak with only two of the six children of Rheank surviving: a disgraced Destorie and an equally disgraced Deihu Relliv. Additionally, the name N’Dak became almost universally equivalent to ambition in the lexicon of many Rihans, a stigma that persists to this day. Relliv, died without producing an heir and the fate of the House of N’Dak laid in Ma’lyn, Son of Destorie. Thankfully, Ma’lyn had been groomed from a young age to take his fathers’ place; following his fathers’ fall from power Ma’Lyn slowly bid his time rebuilding the once proud family name. Like his father, he worked his way up the ranks of the Galae, rising to the rank of Khre’Riov, in 2225. For another 31 years he would Command the 5th Fleet stationed along the Rihan-Breen border. In 2256, on the hundredth anniversary of the start of Rihan-Earth War, he was promoted to the rank of EnRiov and position of Galae Commander. He would remain in this post until his retirement. Ma’lyn’s far less radical approach to politics and generally more tempered manner restored much of the respect his father had first earned and then lost for the House of N’Dak; but even then, most scholars acknowledge that the glory days of the House have long since passed. Ma’Lyn died in 2306 of complications of age, leaving behind three sons and a daughter. The eldest son, Lvon (Since renamed D’Lvon) would continue to uphold the honor and respect that his father had regained for the House of N’Dak. However, it is apparent that the House itself has never truly recovered from the shame of the first Destorie, following the Rihan wars. However, as leader of the House of N’Dak, D’Lvon earned a reputation for being far more ambitious than his father, though less so than his grand-father. This reputation, combined with a strong, often abrasive method once again caused the House of N’Dak to have a polarizing effect. In the early 2380's, the N'Dak suffered a slight affront to their honor when D'Lvon was censured before the Tri-Cameron for his role in attempting to influence punishment being brought upon on his two sons, Issaha and Destorie. However, the family soon quickly regained their footing. At the peak of its’ power just before the Rihan-Earth War in the 2140’s and 50’s, the House of N’Dak was among the most powerful in the Empire. Since then it has waned, though the power and financial resources of the House of N’Dak should not be underestimated. D’Lvon s’Heer N’Dak, Deihu A Deihu for many years, D’Lvon, has been involved in politics most of his life. He is tenured member with a good deal of seniority, once considered to be a fairly respectable and popular Deihu, his reputation has declined of late. At the age of 22, He was recruited to the Tal’Shiar and trained at their Retor. After completion of his training he was assigned to shadow Deihu tr’Nedor, who was believed to be in league with an insurgency group known as “The Free Order.” The Free Order was a group of progressive Rihannsu that supported the overthrow of the Praetorate and favored Reunification with the Vulcans, tr’Nedor was thought to be a sympathizer and financier. After several months of monitoring the Deihu, D’Lvon uncovered that not only was tr’Nedor sympathetic to the terrorist group—he was among its leadership. Shortly after, tr’Nedor died in a tragic accident. D’Lvon remained as an active Tal’Shiar Operative for another 8 years earning the rank of Daise'Sael'Riov (Lt. Colonel). Sometime afterwards, he was appointed to the Senate. During this period of his life meet and subsequently bonded with the future Llairhi (Ambassador) Sevik t’N’Kedre. After being elected to the Deihu (Senate) he did not maintain his position with in the Tal’Shiar and denies any current connection to the Tal’Shiar, though rumors of his involvement in covert operations persist. D'Lvon came under considerable scorn when both of his sons were implicated in what has simply become known as the Arcadia Affair. Complicating this was his own guilt in threatening the life of the very Galae Flag Officer his sons had nearly yy’a. However, as a favor, Fvillah tr’Kelna (the future father-in-law of D'Lvon's daughter) commuted the original sentence of 10 lashings to a less painful but equally severe censure before the entire seiHehllirh (Tri-Cameron). His position in the Senate soon began to recover, and shortly after was reappointed to the powerful Galae Command Committee. Ori’na t’Sevik N’Kedre, Llairhi (Ambassador) A long time member of the Kiith Mrevhoqq'ghi (Rihan Diplomatic Corps), Sevik is the daughter of the late Khre’Riov D’Nar tr’N’Kedre and Enarrain Savu t'N’Kedre. Her bonding with Deihu D’Lvon N’Dak tied together the powerful N’Kedre and N’Dak families. Sevik served as a Llairhi (Ambassador) of the Rihan Empire to several high profile governments, including a 5 year stint as ne'Llairhi (Junior Ambassador) to Vulcan, 5 to the Gorn as el'Llairhi (Senior Ambassador), and 10 as the hru'Llairhi (Chief Ambassador) to the Klingon Empire. She served for several years as the hru’Llairhi to the Tholian Assembly following the end of the Dominion War. The Daughter of two career military parents, it was assumed that she would enter the Galae, a notion she strongly protested, but chose the Diplomatic corps, against the protest of her father; a fact she was reminded of when three of her children chose the Galae or Tal’Shiar. An outspoken proponent of peace over xenophobic wars, Sevik was a leading supporter for the Alliance during the Dominion War, a matter her and her husband found themselves on opposite sides of. She has often been labeled ‘dangerous’ by many of the more conservative Deihus, however her husband’s political might had kept those who would wish to exterminate her voice at bay. Her enemies seized the opportunity presented with the disgrace of her husband and sons to force her resignation from the Kiith Mrevhoqq'ghi (Diplomatic corps). However, at the request Fvillah tr’Kelna, she has been brought back into the service of the Kiith Mrevhoqq'ghi (Diplomatic Corps) as hru’Llairhi (Chief Ambassador) to Starbase Camelot, the Joint Alpha-Gamma Quadrant venture in the Avalon System, under the Command of Admiral Day. This move has prompted protests by her enemies, but few would dare challenge Fvillah tr’Kelna. At some point during the ensuing months at Camelot Station she thwarted a plot by the Tal'Shiar to force a war with the Federation and bring the Dominion into an all out Civil War. While her actions were not publicly rebuked, the Ambassador did find herself on a tenuous position. Shortly after the final negotiations of a Peace Treaty between the Dominion, Allies and the Scorpiad Empire, N'Kedre was recalled to ch'Rihan where she was being elevated to the position of el'Auethnen (Senior Advisor) to Senate on Diplomatic matters. Rasa N’Dak The second born of the N’Dak children, and twin of Savu, Rasa chose not to follow her older brother’s footsteps in the military and instead took a position as an aide to a Fvillah. During her time as an aide, she met his son Dahue, to whom she was shortly betrothed too. The bonding will merge the two powerful houses and Dahue is the only son of Fvillah tr'Kelna and stands to inherit the respect House of Saeier. Savu Ye’sho N’Dak The twin sister of Rasa, Savu chose a far different path from her sister and even older brother, instead following her father’s footsteps, joining the Tal'Shiar. She is currently on a classified Tal’Shiar Mission. Her rank is unknown. Additionally, she has not spoken to any of her siblings in the past three years. She is known to have an, at-best, adversarial relation with her eldest sibling. Issaha N’Dak The youngest of the N’Dak children, Issaha was involved in the same incident as his brother and was sentenced to 15 lashings. These were administered at the Retor, where he was made to return to finish his schooling. Issaha was ordered to return to the RES Talon by Khre'Riov t'Rexan. A full biography for Issaha can be found in his Galae records.. Psychological Profile: Destorie (known primarily as N’Dak or simply Dak) has from a young age always shown the ability to lead; however, he has always had problems following. As a cadet, Destorie often found himself in trouble with superiors for taking matters into his own hands. This often rebellious side of the Destorie is probably caused by the extreme amount of pressure put on him by his pedigree; after all, his father was elected to the Senate at the age of 30. The drive to succeed often overpowers Destorie. Despite having problems as a follower, Destorie abides by the rules. He was noted for never having to be told twice by many of his instructors. He is a hardworking individual who strives for the betterment of the Empire. One thing no one will ever accuse him of is being overtly nice or social. He tends to be cold and calculating, keeping all but a very few at arms length. This has tended to make him more enemies than friends, something that may or may not come back to haunt him. Recent Career History: N’Dak was assigned to the RES Talon as a Disheren D'heno. He rose to the rank of Daise’Dheno fairly quickly, mostly as the Khre'Riov wanted to teach him a lesson about command. His career was brought to a stand still during an incident involving a race known only as the Squids and the Lloann'na vessel USS Arcadia. During that mission he was taken prisoner by the Lloann'na. During a prisoner Exchange, he was once again a prisoner, this time of the Squids. While details remain shaky at best, all that is known is that he came under the proxy of the Squids. He proceeded to aid and led a rebellion aboard the Talon, during which the Khre'Riov was nearly yy'a. Also the Talon herself took heavy damage, as N’Dak and a small group of junior officers took control of the ship. During his brief stint as Enarrain, he was once again taken prisoner of the Lloann'na. While he was imprisoned yet again, the Talon was retaken by those unaffected by the Squids and they, along with the Arcadia were able to defeat the Squids. Following his return to the Talon in exchange for Arcadia officers, he was yet again placed in the brig and stripped of rank by a recovering t'Rexan. The penalty of yy'a was commuted by t'Rexan as an act of mercy, and was replaced in favor of a public flogging. Upon the Flogging, though nearly yy’a he was reinstalled as Daise’Dheno. Shortly after, the RES Talon engaged in training exercises on a border world. However, the 'training' mission (Survivor: Rihan) was interrupted by the presence of a foul and wretched race of blob creatures which attacked many the Talon crew. N’Dak himself suffered several wounds from an attack by the blobs and additional scars from a run in with a rather nasty snake, in fact added with the not yet healed wounds of the beating, he was nearly yy'a...again. However, much to the surprise of many of his enemies, he survived. Upon learning of the presence of the blob creatures (which it is suspected were intended to come into the service of the Tal'Shiar) Galae Command ordered the Talon to apprehend any of them it could and rescue data logs from a cashed ship the Talon crew found rhae the planet amid a hnaev bkhell'gyum (foul smelly waste land). N’Dak lead a full assault team of Talon crew to recover the data and was successful although it cost many a Rihan lives, and nearly cost the Daise'D'Heno his right arm when he was caught in the cross-fire of an A.F.R.O. unit designed by engineering to combat the blob creatures rhae the surface. Following the mission, the RES Talon was called of rhae the Outmarches to deal with a new lloann'mhrahel'Galae threat. The lloann'mhrahel'Galae had yet one again illegally entered the Outmarches and were on an unknown stealth mission in the Devron system, home of the infamous Pegasus Incident. While investigating the lloann'mhrahel'Galae vessels, N’Dak along with engineering R'Tor t'Bat'ok, were both nearly yy'a when the lloann'mhrahel'Galae vessel Reaent fired upon the asteroidial remains of the Pegasus. They were both eventually rescued and returned to duty. Following the disastrous encounter with the Reaent, N’Dak made a full recovery and returned to his duties. Upon completion of this mission, the RES Talon was sent on a mission to recover a secret weapon that had been stolen by rebels. During the course of the mission, an attempt was made upon the life of Deihu S’Bien’s life, who was aboard the ship to secure the return of the device. N’Dak personally oversaw the security of his family friend until the end of the mission. Upon completion of the mission, though the Talon crew failed to recover the device in working order, the crew headed home. During the return trip, the ship passed through an ion storm, At this point, the records of the RES Talon have been sealed under order of the Tal’Shiar. When the vessel finally did return, the crew was brought before Tribunal. All but t’Rexan were found innocent. The exact details are classified and beyond the scope of this document, t’Rexan was tried and subsequently convicted and punished for a prior offense. Her punishment was carried out by N’Dak’s father and the Tal’Shiar Director. With t’Rexan nearly yy’a from the punishment, N’Dak was installed as acting Enarrain. Ironically, this was as a result if the final request of t’Rexan before her punishment was carried out, that N’Dak be made the acting XO, and due to her condition, he was placed as acting Enarrain until she could recover. In an effort to remove the Talon from the public eye of ch'Rihan, Galae sent the vessel under the command of Destorie N’Dak to investigate a series of missing grain shipments. In the course of the mission, several attempts were made upon the Khre'Riov's life; however these attempts were revealed to be part of a plot to assassinate Destorie. This information was revealed to the Khre'Riov and Destorie through their former crewmate Ural tr'Psichore. Though her recovery was not fully complete, t'Rexan once again returned to the position of Enarrain aboard the Talon; honoring his word, N’Dak relinquished command upon his own will. With the return of tr'Psichore (who'd previously thought to have been in stasis on the homeworld) N’Dak future aboard the RES Talon was unclear. During the course of their next mission it was discovered that tr’Psichore had been working as double agent for the Tal’Shiar, though his motives, like those of the Tal’Shiar remain unclear. As a result t’Rexan chose N’Dak to be her new Executive Officer. 13. Jolan tru! Hope to see au around!
  14. It's also highly probable that you would have two sets of shields (and I am thinking this is gone over in a tech manual) where as one set of shields were standard navigation shields that were powerful enough to protect the ship from micro-asteroids, etc but not against a weapon of any force. At the same time you'd have more powerful shields that protect you against said weapons.

  16. Rain fell softly on ch'Rihan, and the lights of the capitol city—heart of all that was Romulan—lit the night sky in an array of colors. The streets were filled with shuffling of people coming and going from their work, some on their way to evening diversions, others to labor, and still others to family and friends waiting on them. Some walked alone, and others walked in throngs—talking, discussing the days events, the weather, politics, anything that burned the soul. The day was passing into night, much as it always did on Romulus. The menacing figure of the Tal'Shiar headquarters sparkled in the rainy night, a monolithic reminder to the people that their loyalty was enforced by the cold steel fist of the Tal'Shiar. D'Lvon N'Dak walked down the narrow street that led to the main entrance of one of the most feared buildings in all of Romulus. He'd been here of course, before, but today it seemed as imposing as the first time he'd entered the building, all those years ago. That was years ago though; then he'd been a timid young officer who'd been chosen out of his class at the Galae Retor to become trainee for the Tal'Shiar. He came from a noble and affluent family, his father had been one of the highest ranking officers in the Galae, as had his grand father before him, and his aunt had been Director of this very facility during the Earth-Romulan War. It had not come as a surprise when the recruitment officer showed up in his dormitory offering him placement with the shadowy, intimidating organization, what had surprised him was the amount anxiety the very presence of the building, what it stood for, and what lurked inside it produced. Now he was a powerful Senator, head of his house, and no longer a wet-behind the ears trainee and after a while the power of the building had faded to him, but today the lingering fear had returned, but for a different reason. He'd once been afraid because he knew not what they planned, what they were planning and what they were already doing; now he was afraid because he knew the answers to those questions. In the past months, the Tal'Shiar had grown powerful. Their plots had become more insidious and their will to dominate stronger. Their grip on the Senate was strengthening each day as they bought Senators, either with the ring of latnium or the grip at the throat. This was troublesome. More troublesome was the drive to unseat the Galae from power. For as long as their had been a Galae and a Tal'Shiar, the two stood opposite each other, a begrudging check on the other. And even through Civil War and Coup, the two had never outright challenged the other, obeying an unspoken rule that if the two powers were to wage war upon each other, the very fabric of Romulus would unravel. Something had caused the agreement to be...changed. The Tal'Shiar and the Galae now clashed more openly in Senate hearings; political officers rose in authority in ships across the Fleet; Galae officers who spoke ill of the Tal'Shiar found themselves facing serious career set backs. The Tal'Shiar was even building its own fleet, and in secret massing supplies with their new allies the Sheliak. D'Lvon knew all of this and more, but he did not know why the Tal'Shiar was making this play, bold even for them. He'd went along with their schemes, he'd taken their offers, helped them when he could, and he'd so far been rewarded for his efforts. t'Rexan was the most obvious of these rewards, as was renewed status with the elite. The price till now had been worth the rewards, but as he looked towards the conclusion he was coming to, he wondered if the price he would pay in conscience would be worth the reward? That was the question he was on his way to have answered.

  19. “Brother!” “Issaha.” “I am so pleased you’ve returned…there were rumors that your group had been captured!” “What have I told you about listening to the mindless prattle of the junior officers?” Issaha sighed resignedly. “That while underlings can be an excellent source of information for minor gossip, the really good stuff only comes from the officers in medical and at the barber.” Mildly amused, Destorie smiled and sat in the comfortable leather chair that flanked the couch his brother was lazing upon. “See you can learn after all, now be a good little brother and get me something to drink.” Obediently the younger N’Dak made his way across the room to the cabinet that contained the stash he and his brother kept of real alcohol and poured a drink, making his way back across the room and returning to his prone position upon the couch. “You seem…troubled, Sheuji.” “Celaere takes its toll.” “It’s more than that,” Issaha said, taking his own drink in hand. “Something seems to be weighing on you.” A long sigh escaped Destorie and leaned back into the leather chair. Issaha, for all his faults, had an knack for reading his brother, a skill few others in his family, let alone his crew had an ability to master. “I should know better that try and hide things from you.” “Ie,” Issaha said, a bit of triumphant smile on his face reminiscent of his brothers. “Au should know by now I know when au are brooding. “What did au discover on the planet that has au in such a mood?” Destorie sighed again, rubbing at his brow ridges with his left hand. “How much do au know of our fathers dealings with the Tal’Shiar since the…incident?” “What incide…oh.” A moment of silence engulfed the two brothers as they both quietly reflected the incident in question. Issaha finally broke the silence. “Well to be honest,” Issaha said lowly. “Not that much just that he’d been seeing more and more of his…what did he call them…old associates than normal. Especially a Colonel tr’Aimie. Ie, Maec I believe was his name.” “Interesting.” “Why do au say that?” “You must promise to keep au mouth shut on this Issaha.” “Of course…” “I mean it this time,” Destorie said. His voice grew deadly serious with a hint of desperation in his voice. “If word of what I am about to tell you were to fall into the wrong hands…” He paused for a moment and stood up suddenly walking over to a desk drawer and retrieved a small electronic device. Returning, he flipped it open and placed in between himself and his brother on the glass coffee table adjacent to either of them. “Continue,” Issaha said, obviously interested in what ever information his brother had to tell him that was so sensitive he felt the need to use a scrambler. “The Tal’Shiar are using the base below to funnel supplies and weapons to the Sheliak…for what purpose I am not entirely sure of yet, but it is of a mendacious and perfidious nature I am sure.” “What does this have to do with our father?” “I found several supply crates that barred a shipping authorization code of his,” Destorie said with a heavy sigh. “He uses it on occasion when he wants to ship things without anyone noticing…I was able to open the crates…” “And what did you find?” “Latnium.” “Payments?” “I am not sure.” “You think father is helping finance what ever plot the Tal’Shiar is up to?” “I don’t know…it could be that…or it could be a pay off. And it just happened to be directed by the Tal’Shiar to this operation.” “Was there anything else?” Destorie nodded. “There were several isolinear data cards in the containers as well, I wasn’t able to procure many of them due to…certain events, but I did manage to get my hands on one of them.” “What are you going to do?” “I don’t know.” “Clearly we can’t just call father and ask him…” “Clearly.” Silence overtook the room again. “What are you going to tell t’Rexan?” “Everything.” “Everything? But brother, aren’t you worried she’ll use the information to take down father?” “t’Rexan is many things Issaha,” he said thoughtfully. “But she is a woman of her word. I believe if I tell her what I think is at stake here…she will be invaluable to solving this mystery…before someone else does.” “Are you sure can trust her?” “It is a risk that I am willing to take…”

  21. And then. And then there was that. Standing in t’Rexan’s chambers, Destorie sighed deeply as he was overcome by a moment of clairvoyance. In a matter of seconds the off handed suggestion of his commanding officer made the situation clear as glass. Until that moment all of his speculations had only ended with more questions than he’d started with; every time he found what seemed to be the end of the rope, there was another knot to be untied. Now things were beginning to come together. In his mind the story flowed together as if upon a silver screen that only he could see. Hru’Llairhi Ori’Na t’Sevik N’Kedre. Known for her opposition to war, conflict and xenophobia, many within the circles of power on ch’Rihan considered her to be a dangerous element they could not predict. Long had she stuck in the crawl of the more conservative elements of the Senate, Tal’Shiar and even the Galae, but the power wielded by her, she was after all the daughter of two war heroes, and the considerable clout of her husband’s family provided made her almost untouchable. Almost. Her husbands censure before the Senate had weakened his position to the point he could no longer protect his wife. Like wolves, her enemies encircled her, forcing her too retire from the Diplomatic Corps. Ironically, it had been the very people who put her out of a job that would again call her to service. “Ori’na,” tr’Kelna said. “Yes.” The room was lowly lit, and it was dark outside. It had been four months since her eldest and youngest sons had been tried and convicted of treason against their Commander. Three months since her husband had been censured before the entire Senate. She had been forced to resign her post as Chief Ambassador to the Tholian Assembly. And now one of the most powerful men in Empire, the future father in law of her daughter had come to see her, wishing to discuss reparation. “I have a way for you and your House to regain favor with the Empire.” Her husband, Senator D’Lvon N’Dak, lifted his brows. “Continue, Praetor.” “The Federation and the Klingons are entering into an alliance with the Dominion to share a system and create an outpost in the Gamma Quadrant.” N’Kedre lifted her brows. “And they have…kindly asked us if we wish to participate in this…alliance.” tr’Kelna nodded. “We have decided to recall you into active duty as Chief Ambassador to ‘Starbase Camelot’.” “Is that really a wise move,” D’Lvon said knowing his wife’s…reputation. “The more…conservative of the Senators will be…outraged.” tr’Kelna grinned from pointed ear to pointed ear. “Yes, but only for show.” Both N’Kedre and D’Lvon exchanged glances before either spoke. “What do you mean?” D’Lvon finally spoke. “We have…other ideas in mind.” D’Lvon had once been a high ranking member of the Tal’Shiar, and for the past 20 years a very high ranking Senator—he knew what that meant…and so did N’Kedre. “So,” tr’Kelna said. “If you will agree to part of our…plan, we will reinstall you into the Romulan Diplomatic Corps, and you can restore the N’Dak name. D’Lvon will be reappointed as head of the Galae Command Committee.” “I suppose I will be briefed on what I…need to know after I accept.” “Yes.” “Very well,” N’Kedre said without hesitation. “I will do my duty to the Empire and to the House of N’Dak.” “Excellent.” And she did her duty. Over the course of the next several months she played her role, precisely as she’d been instructed, carrying out the orders of the Tal’Shiar as they led the Empire on a course that could only end in disaster. Still she had done exactly as they asked her. She lied, cheated, schemed her way onto the Round Table of Camelot. She held information from her allies. The stage had been set; the Tal’Shiar had the Empire upon the cusp of war with the Federation. The victory that had so long been denied the Empire was with in reach, so they thought. Deep inside her, she knew that the only outcome of the clandestine plan they had hatched would be the death of too many loyal Romulans. Romulans like her sons and daughters. She couldn’t go through with the plan. The House of N’Dak would suffer for it, as would her own name and reputation…and possibly her life, but the Empire would endure. The time had come, N’Dak thought to himself as the credits rolled upon the silver screen. The time had come to pay the piper. It had been no secret that the Tal’Shiar was furious with his mother. While there was no direct evidence tying her to the foiling of their plans, it was all but assumed she’d orchestrated the entire fiasco. The support of tr’Kelna though kept her untouchable to the Tal’Shiar. They could not act against her, with out acting against him, and that was a war they could likely not afford. Nor could they simply kill one of the highest ranking senators in the Empire, her husband; which was where her eldest son came into play. It all made sense now. The Tal’Shiar couldn’t hurt her, or his father, so they would hurt them worse than could ever imagine. They would kill their bloodline.
