  1. Welcome (back), Jaz! Hope you have a great time here. Feel free to ask around if you have any questions. See you in the Academy! :P
  2. Yay! Here we go:
  3. Bringing new meaning to the words, "Holy Roller."
  4. Welcome aboard, Kit! Hope you have a great time here! Feel free to ask around if you have any questions -- it's a friendly bunch here. :)
  5. One month to SLE!
  6. I successfully installed Leopard without blowing up my laptop! Time Machine is looking like it's going to take three days to back me up though. :-( EDIT: Oh, wait, it just started getting faster. This laptop is displaying a distinct tendency to wait to stop doing things until I have complained about it in a public forum. :-P EDIT: And of course, as soon as I type *that*, it slows down again. Stupid thing...
  7. ::not a fan of anything with caramel in it::
  8. ::grins:: I'm not quite that interesting, Joe. :) Thank you all very much! :D ::steals one of the silly hats from Anna::
  9. It does?!?!?!?!?! ::mood skyrockets::
  10. Adobe CS4 Web Premium Student Edition is coming into my mailbox on Saturday! :) :D :D :D :D
  11. ::moves sheepishly over to the one everyone else is posting in:: Welcome to STSF, zremorca! Hope you have a great time here and feel free to ask around if you have any questions. :)
  12. I think I finally understand regular expressions! Sort of. A little tiny bit. Wheeeee!
  13. A friend of mine plays a character avatar-ed by Richard Dean Anderson and it took me half a season of SG1 to stop jumping every time O'Neill turned around. :( It's a good show though.
  14. I ordered a fan-made design custom-made off a site recently and was in the long run rather disappointed; they missed a fair number of details and the cut seems to have little to do with the dimensions I specified. No doubt this was because I specified "standard" rather than "premium" quality. Fact: If you're going to buy, it's going to cost a lot more than I was willing to shell out. :( Being an epic fail at more domestic stuff, I have not yet had the guts to attempt to make my own, so if that's what you're planning on do keep us apprised of how it works out! :) That's pretty cool. (Maybe I'll commission you! ^_^ )
  15. ::has not yet reached atlantis but is working on SG1::
  16. Welcome back to STSF, Scott! Good to have you. :(
  17. Hooray for Skype! ::swears by that piece of wonderful technology::
  18. Hey, Kilby -- welcome to STSF! Glad you enjoyed your first acad and hope you have a great time here! Definitely check out the Tips from the Moose which will help you get a handle on simming conventions, and Memory Alpha, probably the best Star Trek reference around. Also everyone around here will be glad to help you out, so feel free to ask questions. :( Best of luck and again, welcome!
  19. How do you mime a replicator?
  20. He means in my bio. Though I think the Personal Photo is a better likeness... :P
  21. I'm not sure that there's any specific canonical references to such a group but it doesn't seem unlikely. Trek has done stories regarding such intolerance, xenophobia, or resistance to change; cf. for example the group called "Terra Prime" in the Enterprise episode of the same name -- a terrorist group but the same general idea perhaps -- or the group called "The Circle" on Bajor in one of the early seasons of DS9 which wanted the Federation out of that alien world, or the Vulcan Isolationist Movement referenced in season 7 of TNG. So I think it's not unreasonable to suspect that other such groups, less public and violent, might have also existed. If that answers your question. :P
  22. My mom just totally whipped all our butts at Scrabble. :P
  23. When you start out on a ship, you are an ensign, and the GMs will promote you to higher ranks based on your participation, whether you log, how long you've been there, etc. So the ship will not be entirely full of ensigns because everyone has been around for different lengths of time, etc. As Leila said, these ships have been around for years and the crews as a whole continue on between missions, though people leave and join all the time. If you decide to join a second game somewhere along the line, that character will probably also start out as an Ensign on that ship and will develop independently; again, that is all at the discretion of the GMs, however.
  24. Happy birthday, Sovak! Hope it's a good one.
